A talented Starfield modder is working to improve one of the game's most disappointing features — its disjointed spaceship take-off and flight sequence. While Starfield has its fans, the long-awaited Bethesda space RPG has long suffered from feeling like a game divided up by loading screens. This is particularly true when taking off from a planet and heading out of the atmosphere — and the same again upon landing. Of course, there are technical reasons why the game works this way — which fans say is a result of the game being built on the studio's existing engine. Bethesda itself has also improved the game's spaceflight experience to some extent, too, more recently allowing players to actually fly between planets in the same solar...
Steam hit Palworld looks likely to crossover with Fortnite in the future, while Pokémon seemingly remains off the table. Back in January, Pocketpair head of publishing and communications John "Bucky" Buckley openly suggested a crossover with Fortnite via a post on social media, hoping to catch the attention of Epic Games. "If you ever want to put Palworld in Fortnite just reach out hehe 😇," Bucky wrote — and it seems like Epic Games might have taken interest. This week, Epic Games was spotted adding Palworld to Fortnite's in-game survey, which sometimes asks players to rate aspects of the game, or share details of other games they had played recently. It's also a tool that is sometimes used to gauge interest in upcoming crossovers...
Former head of Burnout developer Criterion Games Fiona Sperry is doubling down on 2025’s Wreckreation by announcing a sequel is on the way. The news may come as unexpected, considering the lukewarm response to the original, and the fact that the entire team at developer Three Fields Entertainment was placed on notice of redundancy in the immediate wake of Wreckreation’s release, with no further support from publisher THQ Nordic forthcoming. Wreckreation 2 is technically being developed by a new studio called When Tides Turn, although this studio is reportedly staffed by veterans of Three Fields Entertainment. Prior to Wreckreation, UK-based Three Fields Entertainment made Dangerous Golf, plus the Burnout-adjacent racers Danger Zone...
Developer BlackJack Studio gave us our first taste of gameplay in fantasy tactical RPG Langrisser: Sea of Sword with a brand-new trailer, and it’s immediately clear that the title marks a significant evolution of the series’ hallmarks and a new era for the franchise. The series began with the original Langrisser in 1991, which was known as Warsong when its English localization came to North America in 1992. That first game established the series’ tactical RPG roots, with a commander-and-troop system that allowed you to acquire new soldiers based on the class of the hero leading the unit. That squad-based combat became one of Langrisser’s defining pillars. Langrisser: Sea of Sword expands on that foundation with a new dual-generals...
Katsuhiro Harada, former director of the Tekken series, opened up about a hilarious misunderstanding he had with his international fans after revealing Leroy Smith for Tekken 7. Leroy Smith is genuinely one of the coolest characters to ever join the Tekken universe. The Wing Chun practitioner was an instant hit when he was first revealed in Tekken 7, even inspiring cosplays from celebrities like T-Pain. In fact, the ‘Grandmaster of Drip’ was so well-received that Black American fans started ‘inviting Harada to the cookout,’ leaving the Japanese game director extremely confused. Harada opened up about the humorous exchange in response to a fan on X, who shared a clip from 1985 cult classic The Last Dragon, arguing that Tekken must’ve...
Veteran game director and self-confessed movie buff Hideo Kojima revealed that he’d like to pass away in a movie theater, just as the film itself is about to start. The 62-year-old made the comment at a film festival in Rome earlier this month, and recently shared a clip of the moment on his official X account. “I’ve always thought that when I die, I would like to die in a movie theater,” Kojima said in Japanese, as translated by IGN. He goes on to explain that “I love the bit before the movie starts the most. Enter the movie theater, the lights go off and commercials and trailers play, yeah? I’d like to die just before the movie starts.” Kojima delivered this declaration in a serious tone but with a hint of a smile. The Metal Gear...
It's no secret that 2026 has been awful for trying to buy PC hardware. Even back in January, RAM prices had already skyrocketed, and things have only gotten worse since. Back then, I was hearing that the AI-caused RAM crisis would last into 2027, and now, 6 months later, it feels like that was the optimistic take. Now it feels impossible to build or buy a decent gaming PC at a good price. Even the Steam Machine, with its entry-level hardware, costs more than a thousand bucks. That's a hard price to swallow, for sure, but that's just the way hardware is going right now. But, if you were lucky enough to get decent hardware before data centers caused prices to go into the stratosphere, PC gaming actually feels incredible right now...
In a new episode of their mini-docuseries, the minds at Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog explained why bringing back Lara Croft’s iconic acrobatics and movement was so important to Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and fans couldn’t be happier about it. Legacy of Atlantis is the latest reimagining of Lara Croft’s debut adventure, marking a stark contrast from the gritty realism of the reboot trilogy. Amazon Game Studios’ fresh take on the original 1996 Tomb Raider brings back Lara’s high-flying movement, both in traversal and combat. As told by game director Raul Siqueira, “This is a moment where a normal person would step to the side. Lara Croft doesn’t step to the side; she cartwheels to the side, because she’s fast, because...
Just a few weeks after Dbrand revealed its Companion Cube was a lie (or rather that it didn't get permission to make it), the company is back with some new wraps for Valve's little cube-shaped gaming PC. They include nine fun new skins with matching Steam Controller options, among plenty of other options. The new skins can make your Steam Machine look like a basketball, black or white dice, a brick wall, a dusty old PC, the planet Earth, and a shabby old shipping package. In addition to those, there are also many familiar skin designs that Dbrand has sold for other products over the years, like its groovy inky color blends and circuitry designs, and even a smattering of pastel, one-color options. Here are some of the new designs...
Our The Blood of Dawnwalker IGN First series continues with another exclusive gameplay video, and this time we’re showcasing an entire quest from start to finish: Pearly and Precious. It’s a relatively short adventure, but one that introduces a brand new creature: a sanzhana, or “pixie”. The video shows this quest being played during the day, which means protagonist Coen has access to his witchcraft rather than vampiric skills. You’ll get to see some magic in action, including the speed-enhancing spell and the offensive Ravenous Flock curse, which causes an eruption of spectral birds that damage all nearby foes. There’s also plenty of sword-on-sword duelling, as well as some poking around in the pockets (and mouths) of corpses. While...

As the fallout from the Xbox reset continues, one former developer of the Forza Horizon series has said what we’re seeing with layoffs, studio exits, and game cancelations is the result of the failure of Game Pass to hit the subscriber numbers Microsoft required to justify its enormous spending on content. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has already cut 1,600 staff from Xbox, and plans for another 1,600 to go over the course of the current financial year. Four studios are confirmed to be leaving Microsoft ownership, with another on its way. Sharma has called it the most “significant” restructure in Xbox history, insisting Microsoft’s gaming business “is not healthy.” Speaking on MinnMax, Mike Brown, who was creative director on the hugely...

With the help of a coupon on the store page, you can grab this excellent game for $37.49, 25% off its full price of $49.99 (see it here). However, Amazon's terms do note that this offer won't be available for very long. If you're hoping to grab it, you've got until July 27 to make your move, so be quick to tick that coupon box and take advantage of these savings. Songs of the Past is the third expansion for CD Projekt’s fantasy masterpiece, and is due out in 2027 — 12 years after the original game came out and 11 years after the much-loved second expansion, Blood and Wine. CD Projekt said it is co-developing the expansion with Fool’s Theory, a team comprising "industry veterans" who worked on The Witcher 3. Here’s what we know so far. Nick Apostolides revealed the bands he listened to that helped shape his portrayal of Leon Kennedy in each of the Resident Evil Remake games, sharing some surprising picks from his playlist. Apostolides shared the info in a Cameo video to a fan in July 2026, saying he listened to a lot of metal and grunge while filming for each game. More specifically, he associated RE2 Leon with Nirvana, RE4 Leon with Alice in Chains, and RE9 Leon with classic Metallica. “I actually take a lot of deep inspiration in my acting through music to get into the right mindset,” he explained. And for Leon, that apparently means banging his head to the Seattle Sound. While he didn’t “think too much about it” while recording for Resident Evil 2, Apostolides...
Fans have been waiting a long time for a new Injustice game, but it looks like they’ll have to wait a little longer after DC revealed a totally different fighting game… on mobile. DCKO is an upcoming free-to-play mobile fighting game developed by Drop Fake, Inc., an independent game studio based in British Columbia. Featuring characters from DC Comics, this title is a 2v2 tag fighter with collectible and RPG elements where players can level up their fighters, unlock new stats, and boost their abilities by spending in-game currency. It's scheduled for release in 2027. It couldn’t be any more different from NetherRealm’s Injustice games, and that’s what has the fighting game community in knots after DCKO’s announcement trailer released...

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV developer King Art Games has released the CGI cinematic trailer for the Necron faction, and it’s got aura written all over it. This latest trailer shows off the powerful Necron Chronomancer Thothmek, who, like most Necrons who wake after their 60 million year slumber, seems pretty grumpy at the state of the galaxy. Thothmek explains that he’s setting out to reclaim Kronus, which was a Necron Tomb World long before the Space Marines, Orks, and Adeptus Mechanics stepped foot on it. This is the third of King Art Games’ four in-game CGI narrative trailers for upcoming real-time strategy game Dawn of War IV, and while it perhaps doesn’t beat the wonderful Orks CGI trailer (“CRASH FASTER!”), for me it’s a...
Activision and Infinity Ward have confirmed dates for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta tests across PC, Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox devices. The team behind this year's first-person shooter installment revealed its playtest plans with a blog post on their website. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 players who pre-ordered on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X | S can dive in first when beta early access runs from August 21 – 25, with Nintendo Switch 2 joining the mix when the open beta takes place between August 28 – September 1. A brief description for this year's event promises "live gameplay, an in-depth briefing...
Inde Navarrette is going viral for her reaction after a fan gifted the Obsession star a sealed copy of Modern Warfare 2. The internet’s obsession (ha, get it?) with Inde Navarrette is reaching a fever pitch, especially after it was discovered that she’s a massive gamer who even has her own Twitch channel. Clips from her streams have gone viral across social media, earning her admiration from the gaming community — one member of which parted ways with an extremely valuable copy of Modern Warfare 2 just to show their appreciation for the actress. Over the weekend, fans gathered at the Javits Center in New York for Fanatics Fest, where Navarrette participated in a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 panel alongside Kevin Durant. As she...
It is an old story - told to me nearly a decade ago by those who lived it - but it bears repeating now. Fallout was invented only because its paymasters weren’t paying attention. Developed in the bowels of Interplay during the publisher’s 90s heyday, the classic RPG benefited from a chaotic and noisy company atmosphere, in which developers divided themselves into cliques reminiscent of high school. Fallout’s team was like the AV club on the periphery - given a vague mandate to start a project based on a tabletop ruleset. Lead producer and programmer Tim Cain would send out emails saying, “I’m in Conference Room Two with a pizza,” and those who wanted to come on their own time could, to spin up ideas. The Fallout team quickly rejected...
Video game developer Cliff Bleszinski has revealed his struggle with alcoholism and how it affected not just his work on Gears of War but contributed to the failure of hero shooter LawBreakers and his studio, Boss Key Productions. Bleszinski was one of the chief designers at Epic Games, working on Jazz Jackrabbit, the Unreal games, and Gears of War. He left Epic to found his own studio, Boss Key Productions, but its games, LawBreakers and Radical Heights, failed, and Boss Key shut down. Now 51, Bleszinski told 80 Level that he’s mostly to blame for the collapse of Boss Key. "I was a functioning alcoholic," he said. "Then I became a non-functioning alcoholic." Bleszinski said he is now four months sober, and is considering a return to...
If Sony's decision to end physical disc production for new PlayStation games in 2028 has you thinking about building out your collection while you still can, Amazon has just opened up one of the best physical game deals we've seen in a while. Right now, you can pick up Crimson Desert on PS5 for just $49, a significant discount from its usual $69.99 retail price. That matches the lowest price we've seen for the game at Amazon (beating its previous best of $56), according to price tracker camelcamelcamel, making it an easy recommendation if you've been waiting for a better and more affordable time to jump in. This is also a "Lightning Deal" at Amazon, which means that stock is limited and will immediately expire once the allocated...
Bethesda chief Todd Howard has issued a rare post on Reddit, telling gamers that the developer is "constantly listening” to fans on the website. And so, unsurprisingly, fans have responded with requests. Howard posted in the r/games subreddit in the wake of Bethesda's announcement of its roadmap of releases over the coming years. With The Elder Scrolls 6 taking up Bethesda Game Studios’ attention, Howard confirmed Fallout 5 is now in pre-production, New Vegas developer Obsidian is working on a new Fallout game, Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters are in the works, and Starfield is still alive. That announcement itself followed a significant round of layoffs across Xbox, which hit Bethesda and its various studios hard as new Xbox CEO...
The director of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has told fans to keep playing — even when GTA 6 launches. Of course, the hugely-anticipated GTA 6 arrives on November 19, and is expected to gobble up gaming time and attention away from pretty much every major release — so much so that many other developers are steering well clear and launching their games en masse in September and early October. But what about post-launch support for games that have already released, such as Resynced? Asked about the contents of future updates for the newly-launched remake, game director Richard Knight played coy, though mentioned the upcoming New Game Plus mode that publisher Ubisoft previously confirmed. What might follow that remains to be...
Have you ever wanted to fall asleep to the sound of Call of Duty players screaming through a $5 mic and into your ear? No? Well, Call of Duty Ambience is here anyway. Erected by app-maker Mike Wing, Call of Duty Ambience is a new website that, for some reason, allows you to tap back into multiplayer lobbies like it's 2010 all over again. Fit with an Xbox 360 theme, cringy gamertags, and other classic visuals, the site allows anyone to log in and get some shuteye while strangers argue in the background. Three Call of Duty games are supported at the moment: Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops, and Black Ops 2. If you ever played a few games of team deathmatch for any of these first-person shooter classics, you should immediately feel right at...
The internet has fallen in love with a viral raccoon named Jimothy, and so has the gaming industry. In case you've somehow dodged this adorable little friend on social media, Jimothy is a small raccoon in Seattle who has scurried his way through X/Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, and just about every other online platform you can think of. His unique size, seemingly caused by what many believe is a rare condition called Short Spine Syndrome, has made him hard to miss, and almost impossible to forget. Locals seem to have taken notice of this specific masked critter before, but it wasn't until Instagram user Kiana Hall captured a video that he became the latest internet-famous animal. She told The Seattle Times that she came up with his name...
Executives at Xbox have once again attempted to clarify the company's approach to exclusives, promising that "Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution are not the only titles" it's planning. Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball and chief content officer Matt Booty tried to further explain how Microsoft is handling exclusives during a conversation with GamesRadar. Their clarification arrived amid the company's renewed interest in the strategy, which kicked off just last month with confirmation that two of its biggest first-party games would not come to PlayStation consoles. "I can assure you, Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution are not the only titles we're planning," Ball promised. "To grow a platform like ours, you...
