Though Square Enix has not publicly shared details about the next part of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, the development team has provided some new insight through the game's companion books. On X/Twitter, user @aitaikimochi posted information found in the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Ultimania book. It apparently reveals that the main story for part 3 of Final Fantasy VII Remake is finished, and Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura aims to start voice recording "shortly."Interestingly, @aitaikimochi also flagged that the book revealed that Final Fantasy VII Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase hopes that Part 3 will ship in three years. "Kitase mentions FF7 Rebirth was done within three years since about one year was developing the...
Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios Group has pledged to sign a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with its unionized workers…though the signing itself won’t happen for another year.Avalanche Studios employees first began contract bargaining with management last fall, following a history of collective action at the studio, but many of them had been union members for much longer. Union membership in Sweden is a bit different than United States union membership. In Sweden, most workers are allowed to join a trade union that represents their line of work at any time. Union members receive some benefits automatically, such as unemployment insurance and career advice, regardless of whether or not others in their workplace have...

Baldur's Gate 3 cast members Neil Newbon and Amelia Tyler want to return for more Dungeons & Dragons games or even a sequel to the Honor Among Thieves film.Speaking to IGN, Newbon said he didn't feel done with Astarion despite developer Larian Studios itself moving on from the Baldur's Gate franchise. Publisher Wizards of the Coast is making a ton of other Dungeons & Dragons games though, and Newbon is certainly up for appearing as Astarion in one of those."Most characters, once I've finished with the work, especially on long jobs, and this was a particularly long job, I usually have a compartmentalization and it's like, 'great, that's done,' I'm happy moving forward to the next role," he said."With Astarion, his rhythm is still...

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released in 2015 but players are still discovering new secrets, this time in an Easter egg hidden by developer CD Projekt Red below Novigrad.YouTuber xLetalis uploaded a video of the Easter egg which can only actually be seen by glitching through the map. But if players can force protagonist Geralt under the cobbles of Novigrad they can enter a crevice which contains artwork referencing CD Projekt Red itself.Drawn in the style of a classic war recruitment poster, this artwork on the side of a cliff face reads "CDPR needs you", with CDPR of course being CD Projekt Red.The text runs across the bottom of a larger picture of a soldier of Temeria — one of the countries in the world of The Witcher and one...

Warhorse Studios, the developer behind the popular role-playing game Kingdom Come: Deliverance, is getting ready to reveal its next game. The Czech studio took to X/Twitter on Thursday to announce that it would be revealing a new game on April 18 at 11am PT / 2pm ET. Fans immediately began buzzing about the possibility of a sequel to Kingdom Come, which earned a loyal following thanks to the way that it grounded its Skyrim-like design in a more realistic medieval open world.Referring to Kingdom Come's protagonist, one fans asked, "Oh my god are we finally gonna see the rest of Henry's story?"First released in 2018, Kingdom Come Deliverance has consistently topped lists of the best RPGs. We wrote in our review at the time...

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for the Fallout TV series. The Fallout TV show has been out for several hours now, and fans are already taking to social media platforms like Reddit and X/Twitter to discuss the show, particularly the sixth episode and the season finale.Chatter about the show's eighth episode has already caused one Fallout game to trend online because of what fans consider a potential retcon.Over on X/Twitter, many are claiming that the show is trying to alter the events of Fallout: New Vegas, the 2010 action RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment. Fans are reaching that conclusion in part because it causes contention with the Fallout timeline. Fallout: New Vegas is set in the year 2281 — 204 years...
Players of wacky co-op horror game Content Warning are being asked by publisher Landfall if their wildest recordings can be used for a lost footage project which would see it hidden in-game for other players to find.Content Warning doesn't revolve around looting or fighting your way through a shadowy and monster-infested world but instead your objective is to use the 90 seconds of film on your video camera to capture your crew’s spine-chilling and/or hilarious misadventures, then survive long enough to extract the footage, upload it to ‘SpookTube’, and rake in the views. The resulting reel, including your screams, exclamations, and deadpan narration of someone being eaten by a hole in the ceiling, is then available for you to...

Are you bursting at the seams to play more Fallout after watching the Amazon TV Series? Then have I got news for you. Obsidian's Fallout New Vegas is an RPG for the ages, and its Ultimate Edition on PC is currently down to just $5.79 at Fanatical. In our review for the Ultimate Edition, we said: "Fallout: New Vegas is the game that many wanted Fallout 3 to be. It's harder, more ruthless, better written, and more morally ambiguous. It's a game we’ve been wanting to play for more than a decade, a real modern re-imagining of the Fallout series, complete with that deliciously black humor."But it's also more of the same, aesthetically and technically identical to Fallout 3, wonky facial animation and all. The ever-so-slightly aging...
Getting around in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is perilous at the best of times. Hordes of goblins and lizard-like saurians dog the player’s steps at every turn, and then there’s the deadly cast of enormous mythological creatures that want nothing more than to grab the player character — known as the Arisen — and bring their noble quest to an unceremonious end.On top of that, the undead come out at night, and swimming is an absolute no-go thanks to an omnipresent insta-killing enemy known only as the brine, which is particularly troubling in light of the fact that many bridges can easily be destroyed by accident in the heat of battle. These challenges are compounded by the fact that, unlike many other open-world games, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a...
Ubisoft has sparked a debate after announcing Star Wars Outlaws’ expensive gold and ultimate editions, which offer early access and a season pass, among other things. The $109.99 gold edition and even more expensive $129.99 are being criticized by some not just for costing much more, but for what they include. The Gold Edition includes the base game, as you’d expect, the Season Pass, and three days early access with a pre-order. The Ultimate Edition includes all that and two cosmetic bundles (the Sabacc Shark bundle and the Rogue Infiltrator bundle), and a digital art book. The Season Pass adds two post-launch story expansions, the exclusive Jabba’s Gambit mission at launch, and the Kessel Runner character cosmetic pack. It’s worth...
Disney Speedstorm players have grown upset at developer Gameloft after it announced the premium track of its battle pass can only be purchased with real money going forward.Players could previously spend tokens earned through gameplay on the battle pass, called the Golden Pass in the Mario Kart-esque racer, but as Gameloft announced in a community update, this would no longer be the case as of Season 7, which is expected to begin sometime in April 2024.Disney Speedstorm is a free-to-play game, but players looking to earn the premium battle pass rewards must now spend $9.99 of real money to do so. Akin to most battle passes available today, a free track which requires no additional spending is also available.Much frustration comes...

As you've no doubt seen today—and as I've been subtly trying to tell you over the past few weeks—the Fallout TV series is in fact awesome. 9/10, among the best gaming adaptations in ages, awesome. I binge-watched all 8 eps in almost one sitting, and then promptly felt a burning desire to replay the game series (for like, the tenth time). Collected below are the current best ways for you to do similar, should you feel the same urge.In retro news, I'm celebrating the 27th birthday of Suikoden, an all-timer in the process of being remastered. I rate the sequel higher, as many folks do, but there's still no denying that the OG Suikoden blew Western gamer minds with its memorable narrative, cool headquarters/recruiting layer, and a cast...
During today's Triple-i Initiative showcase, Gearbox Publishing unveiled a brand new game it's supporting from indie studio Wabisabi. The game is called RKGK, and it's a color-soaked love letter to 90s anime, 3D platforming, and Mexican graffiti culture.RKGK is a single-player 3D action platformer, taking place in the futuristic dystopia of Cap City where the evil CEO of B Corp is trying to drain the metropolis of color and life. The main character, Valah, is on a mission to stop them by fighting B Corp minions, and coating the city in graffiti using a slick-looking parkour system.Valah leaps, hovers, dashes, and glides around the city, spraying paint as she goes both as an offensive tactic, an anti-establishment statement, and at...
This might sound familiar: a devastating tragedy has ushered in the apocalypse, and in its wake people have been forced to adapt to a harsh, lawless climate. Australian studio Drop Bear Bytes has designed a classic turn-based RPG set in (you guessed it) a post-apocalyptic Australia, reducing it to an unforgiving desert full of man-eating spiders, raiders, and even bloodthirsty kangaroos. While that setup is a little too familiar, what's supposed to set Broken Roads apart is an intricate morality system alongside its more traditional RPG character sheet. That seems incredibly promising at first, making me look forward to tackling some difficult moral questions – but after 30 hours of play, it’s clear Broken Roads falls distinctly short...
World of Warcraft's grand nostalgia tour of old content is going strong, with Blizzard announcing that in addition to World of Warcraft: Classic adding the Cataclysm expansion, it's running a new event that will send players back to 2012's Mists of Pandaria expansion. The event is called World of Warcraft Remix: Mists of Pandaria, and it will be available to all WoW subscribers as a separate playable game regardless of whether they play retail, classic, or both. Players will create new characters and level at super speed from 10 to 70 through the Mists of Pandaria expansion, playing through quests, dungeons, raids and other events as they were back in the day, but with a twist. Powerful items will be more readily available than before...
EA has denied reports that a Dead Space 2 remake was in development before being canceled, with a spokesperson telling IGN, "We don't normally comment on rumors but there is no validity to this story."EA's comments follow reports from Jeff Grubb, who claimed that EA Motive was working on concepts for Dead Space 2, but that it was ultimately shelved due to lackluster sales of the previous release. However, IGN understands that EA Motive never considered a Dead Space 2 remake.EA hasn't reported the Dead Space remake's official sales, but it was the best-selling new game in the U.S. in January 2023. A source tells IGN that the Dead Space remake was ultimately considered to have done well.Yesterday, EA announced that Motive is...

The Prince of Persia has gone rogue! No, I don’t mean that he’s married a Hollywood actress, moved to California, and spilled the royal tea in a tell-all interview with Oprah. I mean he’s starring in his first 2D roguelite. Hot off the heels of the series’ excellent return to form in January’s The Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, his sword-swinging highness is stepping away from the Metroidvania structure and into the procedurally generated, live, die, repeat mold of Dead Cells, in The Rogue Prince of Persia. While I’ve only had a very short amount of hands-on time with the upcoming adventure, the early signs suggest that this could well be the second dazzling jewel added to the Prince’s crown in less than the space of a year.The...
Publisher PlaySide and developer Fumi Games have unveiled a Spike-D gameplay trailer for their Steamboat Willie-like first-person shooter, Mouse, revealing some of the mechanics players can use to give their enemies the old one-two.The footage, published as part of the Triple-i Initiative Showcase, goes over three of the tools players can use to get around: the Grappling Hook, Helicopter, and the PowerUp Spinach. The Grappling Hook and Helicopter both utilize rodent abilities to gain the high ground and float to the floor with ease. They offer interesting traversal options we haven’t seen from Mouse yet, while the spinach channels Popeye to give players the strength to execute some deadly melee combos. It's a video that shows off...
Palworld developer Pocketpair has shown off the upcoming PvP mode for Pals set to hit the game at some point in 2024.Announced during the Triple-i Initiative, Pal Arena lets players battle against other players by pitting both themselves and their Pals against them. The idea is you train the strongest pals and defeat all your rivals.Pocketpair released a teaser trailer, below, showing off Pal Arena. It is likely to draw even more comparisons between Palworld and Pokémon, given the similarities to the latter’s famous arena-based gym battles.Palworld launched in January and overnight became one of the biggest games in the world, setting records not only on Steam but on Xbox Game Pass, where it is the biggest third-party game...
