Halo: Campaign Evolved is basically already here if you pay the early access tax, and while it does look incredible on high-end gaming PCs and current-generation consoles, it struggles hard on lower-end hardware, particularly handheld gaming PCs. I spent a little bit of time playing the remake on the Xbox Ally, and, well, the original Halo campaign looks a whole lot better in the Master Chief Collection. It shouldn't be too surprising that Campaign Evolved doesn't run super well on low-end handhelds like the Steam Deck. The game calls for a minimum of an Intel Core i7-10700K and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super, both of which are more powerful than the equivalents found in the base Xbox Ally and the Steam Deck. But, for some reason...
Halo Studios seems to have teased a Halo 2 remake in a secret ending cutscene for Halo: Campaign Evolved. Microsoft's Halo 1 remake is finally out in the wild for those who gained early access by purchasing its Premium or Collector's Editions. Just one day removed from its early launch, that means many have already blown through the game multiple times, and some have even discovered a tease for a Halo 2 remake. Those who manage to beat Halo: Campaign Evolved on Legendary difficulty will be greeted with a new secret cutscene featuring none other than Sergeant Johnson (via ComicBook). Beginning by showing him watching a clip from the original secret ending, Johnson ditches the Elite to kick up his feat on the beach. Just after catching...
I love my Steam Deck. I use it daily, enjoying everything from bite-sized indies and retro gems (thanks, EmuDeck!) to AAA games on its easy-to-use interface. The Steam Deck has been my primary gaming device since it launched, so when Valve announced the Steam Machine – a similar but more powerful device that plays games on a big TV screen – I was ready to pull a Futurama meme and wave cash in Gabe's face. But like pretty much everyone, including Valve, I was disappointed by the Steam Machine’s high price once Valve revealed it. Thanks to RAMageddon, Steam Machines start at over $1,000. I have bills to pay and mouths to feed, so I can’t justify dropping that much cash on a new way to play games I can already play just fine on the...
Tomb Raider: Catalyst is indeed delayed to 2028, as many had suspected. Confirmation comes from Amazon’s video game boss, Jeffrey Gattis, who told The Game Business that Catalyst is now due out in 2028, with Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis due out February 12, 2027. “Atlantis comes February 12 of next year, and then we'll follow on in 2028 with the next one,” Gattis said. No firmer launch window was offered. Both games were announced at the same time, in December last year. Catalyst is the next-gen, Unreal Engine 5-built Tomb Raider that developer Crystal Dynamics announced years ago now. In December, it was set for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S in 2027, published by Amazon Game Studios. Here's the official blurb: In...
UPDATE 12:00 p.m. PT: It appears the PlayStation Network is back online after being down for hours this morning. Sony has updated its PlayStation Status page to reflect that its account management, gaming and social, PlayStation Video, and PlayStation Direct services are back up and running. The page also notes that players may still "have difficulty getting products on the PlayStation Store," but Sony said it is "working to resolve the issue as soon as possible." Sony has not clarified what caused the lengthy PSN outage. Players across social media have started to report that they can access the network again. We'll continue to update this page with any additional information. ORIGINAL STORY: Sony's PlayStation Network services...
Total War: Warhammer 40,000 developer Creative Assembly has shown off a full battle in the upcoming strategy game, and in doing so confirmed it features the biggest unit ever in a Total War game. The livestream included lots of interesting discussion about unit cards, shooting, suppression, flanking, and equipment, but what caught my eye was bigger than all that put together. “We really wanted to put the biggest thing that we could get away with in a Total War game,” David Petry, battle product owner, said during the stream as the Orks’ towering Stompa came into view. “We are looking at putting bigger things in later down the line, of course. But this will be the biggest thing we’ve had in a Total War. So, very excited about that.”...
There are city builders, and then there’s Corsair Cove. Limbic Entertainment’s pirate strategy game takes a very different approach to the genre. Yes, the familiar foundations are here. You build a settlement, support its growth, and keep resources flowing. By almost every other measure, though, Corsair Cove swills grog in the general direction of its peers. Then it sets a course all its own. How so? We’re glad you asked. Vertical Construction Recalibrates How You Think About City Building Most city builders are obsessed with spreading your empire across a horizontal game world. Corsair Cove, however, makes that idea walk the plank. Here, construction prioritises verticality above all else. When you consider the setting, it makes...
While showing off an early concept photo of the aged-up Team Avatar at a San Diego Comic-Con panel on Thursday afternoon, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender director Lauren Montgomery recalled one of the films' earliest leaks in a rollout that's been plagued by unfortunate leaks. The image in question was what Montgomery called the "Avengers shot," with the characters posing together that leaked out of CinemaCon in 2024 before it was taken down. "This was one of the very first funny stories about this image. We had a version of this image, exact same painting. The characters looked a little bit different," Montgomery said. "Our production designer Jake [Panian] was never really happy with it. And then Paramount comes to us and says, ‘We...
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has revealed its first Year 1 DLC character alongside its opening movie during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. The first DLC character for the upcoming fighting game is Phoenix Cyclops, voiced by Ray Chase. Chase voices Cyclops in Disney+ show X-Men '97 and hero shooter Marvel Rivals. Phoenix Cyclops is due out fall 2026 as the first of four DLC characters and one new stage due out in the game's first year. Meanwhile, we have the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls opening movie below. For years, the Steam Deck was essentially a budget all-star among handheld gaming PCs, even when more powerful handhelds like the Xbox Ally X started coming out. But, in the months following Valve's price increase for its handheld, it seems like demand for the Steam Deck has absolutely cratered. Right now, it looks like the Steam Deck is selling up to 82% fewer units than it did last year, according to some napkin math done by Boiling Steam (via Gizmodo). The blog is based on the Steam Deck slipping from a near-constant 5th-place on the Steam top sellers chart down to around #14, which is theoretically a massive 72% drop in revenue. Obviously, these aren't official numbers, and it's unlikely that Valve will ever actually share...
Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O'Malley may have ended his beloved saga 16 years ago with the release of Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour, but it seems he's still not quite done. Today at Comic-Con, Oni Press announced a new Scott Pilgrim comic called Scott Pilgrim EX: Dawn of Metal Scott. As first revealed by Gizmodo, Scott Pilgrim EX: Dawn of Metal Scott is a one-shot prequel to the recently released beat-em-up game Scott Pilgrim EX (which also makes this a sequel to the animated series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off). Check out a short preview of the issue in the slideshow gallery below: Here's the official description for Scott Pilgrim EX: Dawn of Metal Scott: “When I was asked to create a minicomic for Scott Pilgrim EX, I quickly said...
In the vast majority of fantasy video games, the world is populated by more than just humans. Mankind is typically accompanied by a range of different species or races, and The Blood of Dawnwalker has no intention of bucking that trend. Vampires are not the only creatures you’ll be bumping into on your journey through Vale Sangora, but that doesn’t mean you’ll find your typical elves and dwarves at the local tavern – this is a place that doesn’t play to the normal rules. Developer Rebel Wolves has taken a very particular approach to its fantasy worldbuilding. Its sentient races lean far more into ideas established in folklore than they do Tolkien or Dungeons & Dragons. One of the best examples of that is the impish, tooth-thieving...
Watch Dogs and Splinter Cell development veteran Clint Hocking has described the experience of leading a large team within Ubisoft as like working while "flaming barrels [are] falling down from a construction site," akin to a scene from the arcade game Donkey Kong. Hocking made the comment as part of a lengthy discussion about how his role changed as development team sizes grew, leading him to feel less effective while leading Ubisoft's multi-studio effort on Watch Dogs Legion. Hocking and Ubisoft parted ways abruptly earlier this year amid a reshuffle at the top of the publisher's prized Assassin's Creed brand, despite being in the middle of leading development on Assassin's Creed Hexe. The franchise's next blockbuster, Hexe is...
You can tell a single-player campaign is truly great when revisiting it sparks a similar joy as your very first run, even when you remember how it all plays out beat-by-beat. Pistol shots on scrambling Grunts, sticking Elites with plasma grenades, popping Flood like bubble wrap with an Assault Rifle; Halo: Campaign Evolved rekindled the familiar feeling of playing the original on a rented Xbox at my grandma's house in 2001. But as much as I adore Halo's campaign, with its simple yet thoughtful combat design, you can only play the hits so often. When the base game, the Anniversary Edition, and the Master Chief Collection are all readily available in 2026, it's easy to see this remake as more of an Unreal Engine test than anything...
Hasbro is really on a tear at this year's Comic-Con. Not only did they just show off their first wave of The Legend of Zelda figures, now they're unveiling a new line of Street Fighter figures based on the 2026 reboot movie. IGN can exclusively debut the first images of this new line of figures, which includes figures based on Andrew Koji's Ryu, Noah Centineo's Ken Masters, Callina Liang's Chun-Li, and Joe "Roman Reigns" Anoa'i's Akuma. See them all in the slideshow gallery below: Like most of Hasbro's collector-focused toy lines, these Street Fighter figures are designed at 6-inch scale and feature extensive articulation (enough to pull off the many iconic poses from the games, clearly). Each figure will come with accessories like...
Helldivers 2 will reveal its hotly anticipated Warhammer 40,000 crossover on July 30, Sony has announced. But in the meantime, we have confirmation of one weapon that will be included in the Legendary Warbond. The brief teaser video, below, shows a Bolt Pistol, lifted straight from the Warhammer 40,000 armory. Bolt Pistols are used by many different factions and units in Games Workshop’s grimdark far future setting, but it’s particularly fitting in the hands of an Astra Militarum (formerly the Imperial Guard) soldier. Even before the Warhammer 40,000 crossover was announced, fans had spoken about how it would be the perfect fit for Helldivers 2, which sees groups of four soldiers essentially play the role of cannon fodder in the...
Amazon has announced that its cloud gaming platform, Luna, is now available on Prime Video — as long as you’re in the U.S. or UK and are using the streaming service on a Fire TV. The rollout is part of a wider push from the corporation to get the games that Luna offers into as many hands as possible. Luna is included with Prime at no additional cost, and there’s nothing to download or purchase to start playing. Amazon said Prime members can find games the same way they discover everything else on Prime Video, just by looking for the new “Games” tab and starting playing in seconds on your TV, using a controller or your phone. On Luna, Prime members get access to a library of games that includes Hogwarts Legacy, EA Sports FC 26, and...
I really wanted to like Agefield High: Rock the School. It wasn’t shy about wearing its Bully influences on its letterman jacket, and Rockstar sure doesn’t seem interested in a sequel. But six missions in, I think I’m ready to drop out of Agefield High. Bathed in hollow early-aughts nostalgia, it feels like the adolescent hallucination of someone who’s never set foot inside of a suburban American high school. Its faux-punk, juvenile tone felt more like a sauceless ChatGPT redux of American Pie-era comedies filtered through a No More Heroes sidequest than a cheeky, Rockstar-style lampooning of Anytown, USA. I’ve biked from corner to corner of Agefield, delivering food, fighting bullies, maintaining my GPA, and learning to fit in with my...
Warhammer Blood Bowl hits the end zone this fall, and we've got first-look screenshots and confirmed platforms for launch. The video game adaptation of Games Workshop’s Warhammer fantasy football tabletop game is now in the hands of Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector publisher Slitherine, which obtained the licence, publishing rights, and back catalog from the collapsing Nacon. Now, Slitherine has re-announced Warhammer Blood Bowl with a batch of screenshots, below. It’s due out this fall across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. Slitherine said Warhammer Blood Bowl is “built upon the solid foundations of Blood Bowl 3,” with series developer Cyanide still in place. The game will also adopt the latest official tabletop ruleset, updated through...
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game has suffered a shock delay on Xbox just hours before it was due to come out, sparking a backlash from fans. The Paramount Games Studio-published fighting game, developed by Gameplay Group International, was due out today, July 23, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch. But in a note to fans published just a few hours ago, Paramount said the Switch version will be available as the Standard Edition only, and crossplay with other platforms and language localization beyond English will not be available. “We are committed to bringing these features, along with upgrading to Deluxe Edition, to players as soon as possible and will keep you updated on our timeline and...
iRacing has confirmed the release date for its second stab at a standalone NASCAR game, following on from last year’s robust NASCAR 25. NASCAR 26 will be officially launched on September 18, 2026 (albeit following a three-day early access period for purchasers of the game’s higher-priced ‘Gold Edition’). A new developer diary published today, featuring producer Matt Lewis and creative director Mike DeVault, discussed a number of additions and improvements to this year’s game. NASCAR 26 will feature dynamic track surfaces, which will rubber in as race weekends progress. This evolution will open up new strategies as new racing lines become available. The team has also addressed some bugbears present in NASCAR 25 around road course...
Dell is offering a steep discount on its most powerful desktop computer. The Alienware Area-51 AMD Ryzen X3D edition gaming PC equipped with a GeForce RTX 5090 GPU and 64GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM has dropped to $5,399.99 shipped after a $1,500 instant discount. No, it's still not even remotely affordable for most people, but if you've got deep pockets, this is a substantial discount on a beastly Alienware system. If you look at the prices of the individual components in today's market, it's (sadly) not as ridiculous as your initial sticker shock might lead you to believe. Alienware Area-51 Ryzen X3D RTX 5090 Gaming PC w/ 64GB RAM The Alienware Area-51 is Dell's flagship gaming PC. The product photos don't give it due justice; this is a...
What follows is a combination of words I never thought I’d write: Count Binface has called on Sega to make Shenmue 4. Okay, this will need a bit of an explanation. Count Binface is a man who is famous in the UK for standing in local elections while wearing a trash can (we Brits call it a bin) on his head. He never wins; rather, his goal is to make the electoral process look ridiculous, and he's pretty good at it. Count Binface standing unceremoniously in the background while votes are read out for other candidates has a habit of making even the most sincere of politicians look more than a little silly. But Count Binface is perhaps more famous now than he’s ever been, and that’s because he is the sole challenger to right-wing leader...
The founder of Stalker 2 developer GSC Game World has said the game turned a profit before it even came out thanks to the money Microsoft paid for Xbox exclusivity. In an interview with YouTuber OLDboi, GSC Game World founder Sergiy Grygorovych said that Microsoft was so impressed by the number of views the debut Stalker 2 trailer received, that it soon got in touch with the Ukraine company to negotiate terms for exclusivity. “We took more than the cost of Stalker 2,” Grygorovych, who has since left GSC Game World to make a new game with a new studio, said. “It paid for itself before the first day.” IGN has asked GSC Game World for comment. Xbox was heavily involved with Stalker 2, which was made amid Russia's full-scale invasion of...
Okay, we’ve got a bit of a good news/bad news situation here. Good news first: Without hyperbole, Avatar Legends is one of the most fun fighting games I’ve ever played. There’s something special about the way these characters move, the variety in their playstyles, their incredible animations, the flexibility of their combat options, and the satisfying ways they can execute some of the sickest combos I’ve ever seen. In so many ways, this is the game Avatar: The Last Airbender has deserved, as well as the old-school 1-on-1 fighter that hardcore fighting game fans have been clamoring for recently. But now the bad news: That stellar gameplay does some pretty heavy lifting, as the package around it is lacking in surprising ways. From an...
Ascend To Zero has an absolutely wonderful aesthetic, with little chibi characters running around, talking about the end of the world, and trying to fight off all sorts of monsters. There’s a disconnect, sure, but it’s just so darn cute that we can let it slide. The main premise is that the world has basically ended, but thanks to a useful yet faulty time machine, you can go back in time and try to change things. You only have 30 seconds to do so, though. The good news is that you can stop time, which helps a fair bit, as it turns out. From there, you just need to run around, dodge attacks, choose the right weapons, and utilise powerful ability synergies to take down bosses. You get yeeted back to level one at the start of each run...
Wreckreation 2 is hardly the first attempt by ex-Burnout developers at reviving the spirit of one of the greatest – and definitely my favorite – arcade racing game series of all time. There was Danger Zone, and then its sequel. Next came Dangerous Driving, which was supposed to get a sequel that never came out and instead morphed into Wreckreation, which our racing game guru Luke Reilly did not take kindly to in his review. Is the fourth time the charm? Based on the couple of hours I’ve put into the very early preview build of Wreckreation 2, I can, for now, at least optimistically say, “Maybe.” I don’t say that to hype this game up too much or judge it too harshly. Rather, studio head Fiona Sperry (herself a veteran of the Burnout...
Games Workshop has confirmed that Ork Warboss Nazdreg Ug Urdgrub is not only getting a new miniature for the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop game, but that he’s also in Creative Assembly’s upcoming strategy game, Total War: Warhammer 40,000. Nazdreg is boss of the Bad Moon clan, sitting comfortably behind the all-conquering Ghazghkull Thraka, the mighty prophet of the Waaagh!, in the pantheon of Ork characters. In a post on Warhammer Community, GW revealed Nazdreg’s impressive mini, which includes his Kustom Blasta X and Bad Moon banner, as well as a screenshot of how he looks in Total War: Warhammer 40,000. It’s a long time coming, as fan-favorite Nazdreg hasn’t had a model release this century, despite being a prominent figure in the...
