Join Us, the upcoming open-world co-op game where you can start your very own doomsday cult, just dropped a ton of new gameplay as part of IGN's gamescom programming. You can see more than 11 minutes of exclusive footage in the player below, and get a deeper look into just how the game will work. Earlier this week, developer Wolf Haus games announced that the darkly satirical survival/action cult simulator will be available on PS5 at launch alongside the PC and Xbox Series X/S versions in March 2027. The news of Join Us' PS5 version also featured information on how 4-player co-op will work in both the campaign and free roam. In addition to the extended gameplay, IGN can exclusively reveal a special video from Wolf Haus showing four...
There are plenty of fantastical creatures to fight in Dragon’s Dogma 2, but nowhere in the base game will you find a dragon that vomits zombies. You will find such a beast in its upcoming Dark Arisen expansion, though, and this winged atrocity marked the final challenge of a 90-minute hands-on demo I played just ahead of gamescom 2026. The undead barfer easily ranks among Dragon’s Dogma 2’s most hideous foes – a scaly titan with an unsightly face, torn wings, and decaying flesh. At multiple points throughout the battle, it rears back its head to belch a plume of sinister smoke from its rotting maw, out of which skitters a gang of pallid corpses. It’s a creative and horrific way to introduce additional mobs to a boss fight, and for a...
Ryan Laley, the solo indie developer behind upcoming asymmetrical horror game Mimic, has shared a video confirming his gamescom was "cut short" after he and other developers had their laptops stolen. A teary Laley took to X/Twitter to share a video explaining why his "gamescom is over early," saying that "all our laptops have been stolen" after he and others had their booths "raided" overnight. Bringing Mimic to the Cologne, Germany gaming event meant getting the opportunity to show it off to a new audience of potential partners and eager gamers alike, but stolen gear would bring that dream to an end. "As an indie, solo dev, this s**t's expensive and hard to do all by yourself," he said. "And to have this happen is beyond frustrating...
Every year, the NBA 2K series, like our favorite NBA teams, teases enough improvements to give us a sliver of hope; a renewed sense of faith that maybe things will be even better than last time. Although that faith was rewarded last year, that hasn’t been the case in the 10 hours I’ve spent with NBA 2K27 so far. While the on-court play does feel better thanks to smoother and more responsive defensive movements, some new features, like MyCareer Eras, are the opposite. Instead, they act like magnifiers, placing a spotlight on issues that have consistently plagued this series, like an ever-growing emphasis on microtransactions. That can turn what should be an energizing session of hoops into a tiring exercise in scrutiny. Let’s kick...
Are you still playing racing games like Gran Turismo 7 or Forza Horizon 6 without a racing wheel? Seriously, you're missing out. If the primary reason you haven't yet jumped onto the bandwagon is the price, then here's a deal that should convince you otherwise. The G29 and G920 were already one of the best racing wheels under $300. 56% Off Logitech G29 Racing Wheel and Pedal Set Used "Like New" Amazon Resale is currently offering a Used "Like New" Logitech G29 Racing Wheel and Pedal Set for just $134.26 with free shipping after an automatic 30% discount is applied during checkout. It’s been a huge week for trailers, specifically for games (though the entertainment front hardly took the week off). Of course, the big headline from this week is GTA 6. (Did your Netflix break when you tried to log on to watch the Extended Look right when it dropped?) But gamescom has also been busy shelling out one trailer after another since Tuesday’s Opening Night Live. What’s included here is merely a tiny smattering of the biggest hits; you can peruse all of them — there are currently 187 — at your leisure on IGN’s YouTube channel. Here are the trailers you should watch from this week (and here’s what you missed last week). Grand Theft Auto 6 extended look In the trailer event to end all trailer events, Rockstar finally...
Capcom is making thirsty fans’ dreams come true for Resident Evil’s 30th anniversary exhibition, revealing that it will display life-sized statues of Lady Dimitrescu and Albert Wesker. There’s something for everyone at Capcom’s RE anniversary extravaganza. Coming to the Shibuya BEAM Gallery from October 30 to December 24, the exhibition will feature real-life recreations of iconic items and creatures from the famous horror game franchise, including “life-sized models of villains crafted with meticulous detail,” as told by SaigaNAK. Two of these villains have been revealed, and the reactions from the internet have not disappointed. As posted on the exhibition's official website in late August, Resident Evil antagonist Albert Wesker...
Gameplay footage from what appears to be EA Motive Studio's Iron Man game has leaked online. Video for what seems to be EA's long-in-development Iron Man game started circulating on social media today. It's a bit more than a few cobbled-together clips, too, showing a (very unfinished) project that features not only Tony Stark's Iron Man, but what seem to be a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier and potentially other characters that Marvel fans may recognize. The footage, which appeaers to be part of a trailer from an early-in-development build, looks like the kind of thing you'd expect from an Iron Man game. Tony can be seen flying under bridges and through city streets, beating up armored bad guys in between shots of him tinkering on new suit...
Well lads, we've done it. We've landed ashore and now it's time to rush forward into enemy territory for God and King. The rules of engagement are simple: there's only one rule, and that rule… is to have fun. And maybe make some friends along the way? BlackMill Games' Gallipoli, the fourth in its well-established WW1 series, is its best-looking and strongest WW1 project to date, and I'm ready to party like it's 1915. Not only is Gallipoli a step above its predecessors in terms of its graphics and gameplay, it does an exemplary job of conveying a sense of historical accuracy while remaining fun to play. So chaps, keep a stiff upper lip and let's charge into certain doom, shall we? Gallipoli is set in the Middle Eastern front, the only...
Nvidia debuted DLSS 5 back in March 2026, promising to bring neural rendering to games in order to make them look more realistic. While pretty much everyone hated it, it seems like Nvidia has continued to work on it behind the scenes: It's leaked in a build of the NBA 2K27 beta. Twitter user @renan_maniero spotted the new DLSS file in the NBA 2K27 early access, called nvngx_dlssnr.dll. The 'nr' at the end there appears to stand for neural rendering. Just finding the file in the game's directory would be one thing, but it looks like some enterprising modders have been able to build it into some other existing games. Some modders built a DLSS 5 mod and integrated it into Control, which was spotted by Gizmodo. In the initial post on X...
Let's be honest, the NBA offseason has already thrown up enough plot twists to fill a MyCAREER cutscene. LeBron James scooting off to Philly, the Lakers embroiled in an ownership drama involving a reported $12.5 billion valuation, and Victor Wembanyama going from basketball's terrifyingly talented alien to the face of NBA 2K27. The 2026-27 season hasn't even tipped off yet, and I'm already calling for a timeout. Fortunately, there's a new NBA 2K on the way to keep me occupied. After the franchise's big preseason reveal dropped details across virtually every mode, here's my vibe check on what my fellow hoopers should be psyched for most. Gameplay wants to play both ends of the floor NBA 2K27 is making a pretty convincing case that...
Over the next few months, I’m going to be taking a look back at each of the core Grand Theft Auto games and replaying them in the lead-up to the arrival of Grand Theft Auto 6. What we’ll be putting together won’t be traditional re-reviews, and they won’t come with any new IGN score, but they will re-examine what made each GTA remarkable upon the time of its release. By the end of the project, using GTA’s previously six-star wanted level, you should be able to get an idea of where each of these games roughly rank in my long-term love for this series. Today, we go back to the game that changed this series forever: Grand Theft Auto III. Playing Grand Theft Auto III in 2026 is a little like watching a home movie of Usain Bolt learning...
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy has just been released on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and we had the chance at gamescom to speak to David Dedeine, co-founder of Asobo and game director, and Anna Demetriou, Sophia's voice actor, about this big moment for the franchise. The story being told in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a prequel that centers on Sophia and her journey to the Minotaur's island to confront a mythical creature at the heart of a devastating curse. It's an emotional tale not only for the players, but for Demetriou herself. "I think sometimes in the acting world, there's a phrase of a character being on center or off center for whoever is playing them," Demetriou said. "For me, Sophia is very much on center. She...
Following the conclusion of its recent beta test, and with over 10-million pre registrations made globally in the run-up to gamescom, developer and publisher Elementa debuted a new trailer for open-world action RPG, Silver Palace, at gamescom’s prestigious Opening Night Live. In development for PC, mobile and – in a surprising reveal – the official announcement that it’s coming to PlayStation 5, IGN was on the ground at gamescom to check out the Silver Palace booth. If you’ve not seen the trailer yet, you can watch it now, below: The trailer opens with a spooky looking operating room as a doctor examines a corpse made of Silverium, before shifting to a sprawling city filled with winding streets – and our first look at the...
Did you spot the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 in last night's Grand Theft Auto 6 Extended Look? Rockstar's cowboy epic made a brief appearance — and, of course, some GTA 6 fans spotted it immediately. During a TV commercial for what might be the unhealthiest burger ever invented, a lush outdoor scene features in the background. A winding river courses through green trees, with several notable rock formations on its banks. Adorning the scene are an array of animals — which will presumably soon be turned into the burger's 30,000 calorie contents. Even more excitingly for Rockstar's fans, however, this was clearly footage taken within Red Dead Redemption 2, and players rushed to reach the exact spot. There's no array of animals here...
It may be difficult to imagine now, but there was a time when people were disappointed that Red Dead Redemption's protagonist, John Marston, would not be leading Rockstar’s 2018 sequel. Arthur Morgan was an unknown, and it was somewhat unthinkable that he could mean more to anyone than the already established Marston. Rockstar, of course, knew that would be the case. And so, during the production of Red Dead Redemption 2, it put a lot of careful thought into crafting Arthur’s tale, with the aim of ensuring Mr. Morgan could both connect with and reflect players better than even John had. And now, several years later, that same issue has been on Rockstar’s mind while creating GTA 6 protagonists, Jason and Lucia. “One of the things we...
Star Citizen single-player spinoff Squadron 42 has been delayed to 2027, with developer Chris Roberts insisting it wouldn't get the attention it deserves because of Grand Theft Auto 6. In a new blog post, Cloud Imperium Games CEO Chris Roberts announced that Squadron 42 will be launching in Q2 2027. The studio had previously announced 2026 as its release window and reaffirmed late last year that it was still targeting that. However, Roberts noted that GTA 6 is going to suck up all of the attention this fall, and as a result, it doesn't make sense to launch a new game during that time. "At CitizenCon 2024, we announced we would ship in 2026. Our plan was to release in Q4 around IAE," said Roberts. "But much like the rest of the...
CD Projekt Red enlisted the help of a well-known modder to help make the newly revealed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered look better than ever. The community creator, who calls themselves HalkHogan, shared the news in an update post on the Nexus Mods page for their own The Witcher 3 HD Rework Project (HDRP) mod. This single PC mod alone has garnered more than 320,000 unique downloads and more than 1.6 million views, and it sounds like it caught CD Projekt Red's attention ahead of The Witcher 3 Remastered, too. In their message, HalkHogan confirmed their involvement in CD Projekt Red's official remaster release, telling fans of their work that they'll no longer need to use HDRP. Instead, they suggest players check out their...
The lore of Kingdom Hearts is so expansive that Tetsuya Nomura says Square Enix hired a loremaster to keep its story cohesive. Kingdom Hearts IV is officially set for a late 2027 release. In the lead-up to its highly anticipated launch, fans have been returning to previous games in the series, to the point where a collection of Kingdom Hearts titles became one of the highest-selling games on Steam following an extended gameplay trailer shown at D23 in July. In total, there are 13 games in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, which have been released on a bevy of different platforms over the years. That’s a lot to play through, not to mention a lot of story beats to keep track of as you go. This isn’t a player-specific problem; even the...
FromSoftware has delivered a surprise Elden Ring update, revealing the biggest changes its critically acclaimed action-RPG has gotten in years. The developer caught fans off-guard with lengthy patch notes today, detailing a list of buffs (and a few nerfs) for different weapons and playstyles across the game. It's a major update that arrived as FromSoftware prepares for the launch of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, as well as its accompanying DLC for other platforms. What we have here is a laundry list of balance adjustments that get under the hood to tweak a variety of PvE and PvP tools. Based on the list of updates available on the Dark Souls developer's website, the last time we received patch notes of a similar...
Pretty much everyone expects the November launch of GTA 6 to dominate the world of entertainment — indeed that’s one of the reasons we have a September crush of video game releases. But according to the CEO of Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead, there are two very good reasons why developers shouldn’t be too worried. Speaking to IGN, Arrowhead boss Shams Jorjani said that the lack of a PC version of GTA 6 at launch, as well as the absence of whatever the next generation of GTA Online looks like, means there’s reason to believe games like Helldivers 2 retain their own space. “Rockstar makes ridiculous, high-effort stuff and it's awesome that games like this get made,” Jorjani said. “On a selfish level I'm happy it’s not hitting PC right...
State of Decay 3 fans will have the chance to play the game later this year via a closed beta. Undead Labs has confirmed that it will hold a closed beta for State of Decay 3 before the end of 2026. Exact dates weren't given, but interested fans can sign up now by clicking here and filling out the required information. The studio also held an alpha earlier this year, which reportedly resulted in actionable feedback to improve the game. The team noted that the alpha allowed them to improve combat, cosmetics, visuals, and movement, resulting in a better product. The beta will only allow more opportunities to improve the game, according to Undead Labs. “We’re going to be expanding our alpha and then closed beta to more players over time...
The Witcher 3 has gotten a price increase ahead of the release of the game's remaster next month. Earlier this week, CD Projekt Red surprised fans by announcing a new remaster for The Witcher 3. It will feature visual enhancements, changes to combat, and much, much more. The best part? It's completely free to existing owners of The Witcher 3 and if you don't already own the DLCs, you're getting those for free. However, if you haven't bought the game, you will now have to pay a bit extra. The price of The Witcher 3: Complete Edition on Steam has jumped from $39.99 to $49.99 since the announcement of the remaster. This will be the price of the remaster itself, so fans who buy the existing version are essentially paying for the new...
Fable is set to release on February 23, 2027, and developer Playground Games is feeling pretty confident that it will be ready for that date. Speaking to IGN at gamescom, the RPG’s director, Ralph Fulton, told us that he feels “great about it.” “I think the rationale behind moving us out of October, the date that we were in previously, is pretty apparent to everybody,” he continues. “I feel great about that. I mean, I was really looking forward to shipping this game this year. I didn't want to have to do another January 1st speech to the team about ‘this is the year we ship Fable’, which I'm now going to have to do. But the rationale for it is absolutely sound. I'm glad that we're avoiding that chaotic window.” This is actually the...
Paul “Zeronis” Kwon is easily one of the most respected artists and character designers working in the games industry today. Zeronis built up a huge fanbase while working at Riot Games, where he designed iconic characters like Ahri, Vi, and Gwen. His work can also be seen in projects like Star Guardian, Honor of Kings, and Arena of Valor. Now Clover Press is celebrating his prolific career with a new art book called Reminiscent: Art of Zeronis. IGN can exclusively debut a new preview of Reminiscent: Art of Zeronis. Check out the slideshow gallery below to see some of the character designs featured within: Reminiscent: Art of Zeronis is a 152-page slipcased hardcover book collecting the artist's professional designs as well as fan art...
Forza Horizon 6 has reportedly had its previous PlayStation 5 launch window scrubbed, with the celebrated Xbox racer no longer likely to release in 2026. That's according to The Verge senior reporter Tom Warren, who wrote on X/Twitter today that he no longer expected the port to arrive before the end of this year. IGN also understands this to be accurate. As of yet, however, Xbox has not formally announced any change to its plans to launch Forza Horizon 6 on PS5. IGN has contacted the company for comment. Recent months have seen a noticeable shift in emphasis by Xbox, as the company pulls back from some of its multiplatform efforts. Logos for the PS5 and Switch 2 are noticeably absent from some of Xbox's recent game trailers (after...
It has been 20 years since the last mainline Onimusha game, 2006’s Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams. Now Capcom’s samurai action series is finally returning with Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a new adventure that brings its demon-slaying combat into the modern era. From the release date and story to gameplay details, editions, pre-order bonuses, PC specifications and the latest trailer, here’s everything you need to know about Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Onimusha: Way of the Sword Release Date Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches on September 4, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S. On PC, the game will be available via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Some digital storefronts may display September 3 because of...
Yesterday I got to see a full quest from Fable being played live. That demo largely focussed on the city of Bowerstone, the characters in the capital, and the choices that can be made within each mission. While there were a couple of flashes of combat within what I saw, I wanted to reserve judgment on the action until I got hands on with Fable myself. Well, now I have, and I’m pleasantly surprised by what I played. While there’s joy to be found in the devastating thud of a giant hammer, what impressed me the most is how each of its varied magic spells work in harmony with the foundational melee systems. And that’s all before we get to the chickens. It wouldn’t be Fable without chickens, after all. Although story, world, and characters...
Giants Software and Straight4 Studios have announced the details of a new DLC pack launching for Project Motor Racing next month: the V8 Power Pack. The pack will feature nine V8 race cars from multiple eras of racing, plus a fully-scanned Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. The pack will arrive on September 15. The V8 Power Pack will add three new classes to the garage, listed below: “V8 Evo”, which includes the 2023 Australian-spec versions of the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro that compete in Australia’s modern Supercars racing series. “USV8”, which adds the 2022 Dodge Challenger TA/2, the 2022 Ford Mustang TA/2, and 2022 Camaro TA/2. “Historic USV8”, which boasts a handful of classic muscle cars in classic Trans Am road racing...
Bethesda has announced it's partnering with a UK publisher, Tor, to bundle free PC copies of The Elder Scrolls Online with Travis Baldree's new paperback release of Brigands & Breadknives, the third entry into Baldree's "Legends and Lattes" fantasy series. The longstanding MMORPG, which has been ongoing for around 12 years, typically sells for £15.99 on Steam, but has also recently been on sale for £3.99 as part of Bethesda's 40th Anniversary sale. The free codes for ESO are available on all printed copies of the Brigands & Breadknives' paperback release at most UK-based bookstores, such as Waterstones, Foyles and local independents for around £10, or via online retailers like Amazon for £8.49. At the time of publication, Amazon's...
