A live-action Persona TV show is reportedly in development at Netflix. The streamer has begun work on a series adaptation of Sega and Atlus' critically acclaimed RPG franchise, according to Variety. Star Trek: Picard and 9-1-1 alum Christopher Monfette is attached to write the show while also serving as its executive producer and showrunner. 21 Laps' Shawn Levy and Robert Atwood are also attached to executive produce, as are Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson of Story Kitchen. Sega producer Toru Nakahara will also aid as an executive producer. Netflix declined Variety's request for comment. It's unclear if its plot will pull directly from any particular entry or tell a new story entirely. Five...
The first Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 teaser is here, and fans have already found some of the locations the new season pulled from Cyberpunk 2077. Netflix, CD Projekt Red, and Studio Trigger returned with a minute-and-a-half teaser for Season 2 of its anime adaptation today. As if there was ever any doubt, it's a brutal trailer, using Rico Nasty's "You Can't Run From Me" to show how characters like Weak Kingsley, D, Roman Carax, and Talia Yang will tear back into Night City. Despite offering such a small slice of the 10 episodes set to premiere this fall, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has already given fans a lot to sink their teeth into. Watchers have been so starved for updates that some Cyberpunk 2077 players have already loaded back into...
You certainly could make a case for MenaRD being the best Street Fighter 6 player in the world right now. His win at Sunday's Evolution Championship Series in Las Vegas brings him up to four total Evo wins, with two back-to-back wins at Evo in Las Vegas (2025-2026) and two back-to-back wins at Evo Japan (2024-2025). And while his Blanka looked dominant throughout the tournament, one of the more interesting stories that came out of the Street Fighter 6 top eight was the fact that in his most crucial matches, Mena opted against using the character that he's most well known for. In Winners Semis, Mena started off by using M. Bison, going 2-2 with Shigematsu's Blanka. After swapping to Blanka for the mirror match in the deciding game...
Unionized Xbox employees are pushing back against the company's looming layoffs and have outlined various demands. Earlier today, the CWA (Communications Workers of America) held a press conference in which various unionized Xbox employees spoke out against Microsoft. The conference was held ahead of reported layoffs at Xbox, which insiders have stated will be a "bloodbath." It's also a painful reminder of last year's layoffs at Microsoft, where 9,000 people lost their jobs across the entire company (not just Xbox) and resulted in multiple projects being cancelled, including the long-awaited reboot of Perfect Dark. The studio behind that game, The Initative, was also shuttered without having ever released a game. The upcoming...
Tech accessory company dbrand has canceled its Steam Machine Companion Cube enclosure effective immediately because it didn't ask Valve for permission to make it in the first place. The company offered fans of the massively popular cosmetic a lengthy explanation – and an apology – with a post on its subreddit. Refunds are already in the works as of today, with buyers encouraged to reach out if they haven't received one by the end of the week. Unfortunately, dbrand's account of the Companion Cube kerfuffle is painfully simple: "We built the idea into something real without ever asking Valve if we could." "We’re going to regret that decision for a very long time," it added. The accessory company recounts the events of November 12...
Unionized Xbox workers have demanded layoff protections ahead of what is reportedly a significant round of cuts to Microsoft’s gaming business. CWA members have called for immediate bargaining following the reports that sweeping layoffs will be finalized at the end of Microsoft's fiscal year on June 30. Earlier this month, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier said the Xbox layoffs will likely result in a "bloodbath" of job losses and studio closures, leaving developers "punished" simply for following Microsoft's orders. Word of Xbox staff redundancies and development studio shutdowns is now rife, following an ominous warning from newly-installed Xbox CEO Asha Sharma that the console maker's slim profit margin was no longer sustainable. While...
This is an IGN opinion piece from writer Brendan Graeber. He reviewed Deltarune’s first four chapters and has been analysing the mysteries of Toby Fox’s mind for over a decade. A little more than a year ago today, developer Toby Fox and his team released the long awaited third and fourth chapters of Deltarune, a parallel story to Fox’s own hit indie RPG, Undertale. Arriving seven years after the very first chapter was released as a free demo, I and other fans have now obsessed over the trajectory of Detarune’s story for eight years. Aside from just decoding the events I’ve played through so far, this long duration also gave me plenty of time to mull over where Deltarune’s story was headed in its fifth chapter, which arrived just last...
Roblox has pulled back the curtain on a selection of six new 18+ games, including Drifters, an extraction shooter developed by Bungie co-founder Alexander Seropian. Roblox Studio unveiled the new games as part of Roblox Incubator, a six-month program that allows experienced developers to "take promising novel game concepts from prototype to polished games." The 2026 cohort includes 26 teams, with Roblox Studio providing support throughout development, with "additional resources and support" made available as teams reach certain milestones. The six new early-in-development Roblox games look to bring 18-and-older players in the U.S. lots of variety. Although our first look at the projects is limited to short clips and screenshots, it...

Some of the deal prices above even match prices we saw during Prime Day - like on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade - making now as good a time as any to grab...
Something about collaborations with Sonic the Hedgehog seem to dial in the right balance between good-natured fun and the sensibilities of the franchise. At the last Summer Game Fest, I quite enjoyed my time with Sonic Racing Crossworlds and it turned out to be a damn good game. This year at SGF, I played Sonic Pico Park, and across all the bigger demos I saw – including RGG’s upcoming Stranger Than Heaven – this little co-op puzzle-platformer is the one I came away from with the biggest smile, eager to tell my peers about why they shouldn’t overlook it. What’s Pico Park? And What’s Sonic Got to Do With It? Part of it is the inherent charm of the Pico Park games that fosters a natural kind of cooperation and problem-solving between...
This is an IGN opinion piece from writer Matt Cabral, who's been playing Resident Evil religiously ever since the Spencer Mansion welcomed him through its creaking double doors back in 1996. The big Summer Game Fest reveal of Resident Evil Veronica probably had some fans – especially those raised on the fright-filled franchise's recent remakes – eliciting a collective, "It's about damn time." Not because these more contemporary players of the 30-year-old series have heard so much about the cult-favorite, non-numbered entry – originally a Sega Dreamcast exclusive dubbed Resident Evil – Code: Veronica – and are eager to finally discover what the fuss is about. And not because they're relieved all the rumors and speculation regarding...
Launching on June 10, Meccha Chameleon is a Japanese indie game that has exploded in popularity on Steam. In just 16 days, the game surpassed over 10 million sales. Over on X, one of the developers has spilled some surprising behind-the-scenes details on the making of this breakthrough indie hit. Meccha Chameleon is a fresh twist on hide and seek. Players are split into Hider and Seeker teams, and to win, the Seekers must find all the Hiders within the time limit. Hiders disguise themselves using the game’s key mechanic: by spray painting their plain white bodies to match their surroundings. The goal is to blend into the background like a chameleon and evade detection by the opposing team. Players frantically trying to manually paint...
Summer is well and truly here, which means it’s the perfect time to hide indoors from the giant ball of fire in the sky and settle in with some excellent games. Luckily, there are plenty of new indie games arriving this month, and they all look spectacular in their own way. So sit back, grab an ice pack from the freezer, and let’s get into this month’s indie highlights. Cat Squeeze – 1st July Cat Squeeze is a delightfully strange puzzle game where you guide a little cat through a series of pipes, squeezing through mazes and bursting out the other side in search of food. It’s an unhinged concept, sure, but there’s something oddly cosy about controlling an exploding cat on a snack-fuelled adventure. There’s also a demo available now...
Fallout: New Vegas director Josh Sawyer has given Amazon’s Fallout show the thumbs up, saying it’s one of the best video game adaptations ever seen on film or television. Fallout Season 2 is set in New Vegas, which was the setting and title of Obsidian’s much-loved 2010 entry, Fallout: New Vegas. Sawyer was director and designer on that game, so he’s a great person to ask about Amazon’s adaptation. And that’s exactly what The 41st Precinct did in a new video interview about Sawyer’s career. Responding, Sawyer was very enthusiastic, even though he has a few criticisms that he’s not even sure he would classify as actual criticisms. “I think it's an amazing adaptation,” Sawyer began. “Like, honestly. I know that the bar is not always...
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has revealed the final three playable characters rounding out its roster, and there are a number of fan-favorites in there as well as a quick look at a PlayStation icon. The fifth team in Arc System Works’ tag fighting game is called Samurai Outriders, and it includes the previously announced Ghost Rider and three new playable characters: Blade, Deadpool, and Loki. The look at Deadpool, voiced by Nolan North, is particularly fun, as it includes a number of Easter eggs. We see Deadpool perform his own version of ‘Toasty!’ from Mortal Kombat, do Johnny Cage's famous Ball Buster move, perform the Jack-O'-Pose from Arc System Works’ own Guilty Gear series, and there’s even a fun nod to the fan expectation that...
Dead or Alive 6 Last Round has fallen to "Mostly Negative" reviews on Steam as players warn of persistent bugs, lacking features, and a requirement to rebuy some previously owned DLC. At the time of this story's publication, only a staggering 23% percent of ratings for the PC version of the 3D fighting game are positive following its June 24 launch. It all stems from a variety of criticisms being lobbed against the re-release, as veteran players and newcomers alike demand fixes. When Dead or Alive 6 Last Round arrived last week, it replaced the now-delisted original 2019 version of the game. Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja positioned the new version as a slight upgrade that bundles in new features, with the promise that new DLC is also in...
SNK told us how they managed to pull off one of Kenshiro's most iconic moves without sacrificing their Teen ESRB rating. Kenshiro is the latest guest character from an anime to make a splash in a mainline fighting game, punching his way into Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves this June. We got the chance to sit down with producer Shinya Tamaki and director Hayato Konya ahead of his release at Evo 2026, who explained the difficulties they faced in translating Hoktuo No Ken’s comparatively gory fighting style into Fatal Fury’s decidedly less grisly hand-to-hand combat. Part of this problem necessitated finding a balance between Kenshiro’s status as a Bruce Lee-inspired martial artist and the use of his special technique, the Hokuto...

Thankfully, this year’s game announcements and reveals have delivered big-time for every major platfom. Friends, we’re eating good. Final Fantasy VII Revelation It’s hard to believe that the third and final installment of Square Enix’s brilliantly remastered Final Fantasy VII series is nearly here. Anticipation for this reveal (or Revelation, as it were) was understandably high, but even the most ardent fan...
The announcement of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls from developer ArcSystem Works was met with near universal excitement when it was revealed last year at Sony's State of Play. Some of that excitement took a hit during the first beta due to some issues with the games' tag and assist mechanics, but the changes made in the subsequent play tests seem to have brought people back around. At Evo 2026, I got a chance to speak with Battle Director Kazuto Sekine, Producer Takeshi Yamanaka, Michael Francisco of Marvel Games, to talk about the feedback gained from that first beta, the design philosophy of creating Tokon characters, and how they approached creating their version of Magneto, one of the most iconic Marvel characters in the world of...

Netflix has revealed first character details and a fall release window for its anime sequel series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. Netflix, CD Projekt Red, and Studio Trigger took to X/Twitter to roll out information about the new cast of characters coming to Season 2 of the Cyberpunk 2077 anime spin-off. It came with the promise of a fall 2026 release window, narrowing down its premiere timeline as fans await a more specific release date. Meanwhile, the announcement came with a sneak peek at four new characters: Weak Kingsley, D, Roman Carax, and Talia Yang. The new gang graces the cover of the first Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 poster, which you can see below. Netflix published information about the four new Night City names across social...
The minds behind Invincible VS are open to collaborations with other genres and IPs, specifically in regards to welcoming potential guest characters from the Mortal Kombat franchise. We got the chance to sit down with Invincible VS’s Game Director, Dave Hall, and its Lead Combat Designer, Bau Bautista, at Evo 2026, where we asked them about the possibility of adding guest characters from completely different properties a la Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8. Both Hall and Bautista enthusiastically welcomed the idea, but made sure to preface that the characters would have to reasonably fit within Invincible's world for such a crossover to make sense. “I think for us, the Invincible universe is just such a beautiful, violent universe that...
Street Fighter 6 is now three years old and still going strong, with more than 2,000 entrants at this year's Evo in Vegas, a fresh batch of new faces on the horizon in the upcoming fourth character pass (including the much anticipated figthing game debut of Tifa from Final Fantasy 7), and a lively online competitive scene. To talk about the current state of the game, along with its plans for the future, IGN sat down with Director Takayuki Nakayama and Producer Shuhei Matsumoto at Evo 2026, where we covered topics ranging from the significance of Yasmine's inclusion as the first Filipino character in Street Fighter history, the future of single player content now that regular World Tour updates have ceased, and a little tease of what...
Valve has finally opened Steam Machine reservations, and like clockwork, scalpers have already taken to eBay to sell the new tech for more than double its retail price. The Half-Life and Steam company began allowing eager buyers to sign up for a random chance to buy one of its four Steam Machine reservation options earlier this week. Emails notifying users whether they successfully ended up in the "reservation queue" or the "waitlist" started going out over the last few days. Stock for the already expensive gaming device, which is priced at $1,049 for its controller-less 512GB model, was always expected to be quite limited, which is why Valve opted for what it called a "less frustrating and more fair" randomized reservation system...
A new weekend has arrived, and today, you can save on Nioh 3, Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, AirPods Pro 3, and more. Check out our top picks for Saturday, June 27, below. Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake for $38.99 Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is a very ambitious pair of remakes, breathing new life into these classics. Dragon Quest II especially saw huge additions to its story, making this the definitive version of the game. Amazon has discounted copies of Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake down to $39.99, which is one of the best prices we've seen since release. In our 9/10 review, we wrote, "Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake beautifully concludes this trilogy, recapturing the retro magic of the originals while giving them a...
The hugely popular Space Marine 2 did a great job of delivering third-person action, but what about a big-budget first-person Space Marine game? So far, that doesn’t exist, but the latest Warhammer 40,000 animated show from Games Workshop gives fans an idea of what it might look like. During Games Workshop’s Big Summer Preview showcase, the UK company revealed the debut trailer for a new animation called The Butcher’s Nails, which is due to hit the company’s streaming platform, Warhammer TV, soon. The gory clip stars a World Eaters Berzerker called Makrath, who joins forces with members of fellow Chaos Space Marine faction, the Iron Warriors, during an assault against loyalist Space Marines backed up by soldiers of the Astra Militarum...
As players come to grips with the $1,049 price of the Steam Machine, Valve has said it would "love to make" it more affordable, while warning that a price drop won't arrive "any time soon." Engineer Pierre-Loup Griffais and Yazan Aldehayyat opened up about the Steam company's hardware strategy during an interview with Digital Foundry. Their words arrive amid shortages for components like RAM and skyrocketing costs for gaming consoles and PCs across the globe. The Valve team was asked if they would be open to lowering the price of the Steam Machine should these wider issues be resolved. Griffais admitted that there is "no point for us to keep hardware at a high price." "It's meant to be an enabler of a stronger connection between...
Arcade cabinets have made a major comeback over the last few years, with companies like Arcade1Up bringing replica cabinets to market that can transform any room. While these units are highly sought after, they take up so much space, so it can be challenging to find a place for one. However, there is a perfect line of arcade cabinets from Numskull that addresses this very problem: Quarter Arcades. These cabinets are 1/4 scale, so they take up much less space than a traditional arcade cabinet. As part of Amazon Prime Day, you can score the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Collector's Edition Mini Arcade Cabinet for $214.19, which is the lowest we've seen it all year. Grab a slice of pizza, and prepare to transform your office with this...

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners almost featured a different and "even worse" ending than the one it got, according to writer Bartosz Sztybor. The writer behind Studio Trigger and CD Projekt Red's acclaimed Cyberpunk 2077 anime spin-off spoke about how Season 1's already bleak story could have had fans shedding more tears during a conversation with Anime Corner. In an excerpt from the full, yet-to-be-released interview, Sztybor teased that the ending of David and Lucy's story was almost more tragic than the one we got when the show came to Netflix 2022. Warning! Spoilers for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners follow... "There was never a happy ending. There were even worse endings," Sztybor said. "There was one ending in which David doesn't die entirely...
