Following the enormous success of the Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 remakes, Capcom has turned its attention to remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica. That’s according to a Twitter/X report by Dusk Golem, who said remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica are “in development right now.” IGN can corroborate that Zero and Code Veronica are the next two Resident Evil remakes scheduled to release. Capcom is yet to comment on the reports. Resident Evil Zero first launched on the GameCube in 2002 as a prequel to 1996’s Resident Evil. It covers the events surrounding the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team in the Arklay Mountains, with the player switching between police officer Rebecca Chambers and convicted former Force Reconnaissance...
Zenless Zone Zero, the hotly anticipated new game from the makers of Genshin Impact, launches globally on July 4, 2024, across PC, PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android. The game is not available on Nintendo Switch or Xbox Series X and S. HoYoverse said its anime-inspired “urban” fantasy action role-playing game will support cross-progression and cross-play upon release when it goes live. The final closed beta ends today, May 28, with the game having reached an impressive pre-registration total of 35 million players worldwide. At 40 million, a figure Zenless Zone Zero will surely hit before launch, HoYoverse will give players in-game rewards including up to 20 Master Tapes, which can be used to obtain rare characters, the playable Agent...
There's been a decent surge of new discounts overnight. Chief among them has got to be a new historic low for the console versions of Dragon's Dogma II, an ARPG that scored well and sold beyond Capcom's expectations. I'm also all about that $39 pricepoint for distant relatives Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Assassin's Creed Mirage. The latter is worth it for the amazing '80s training montage alone. I'm also going to take some intro space to inform my fellow Meta Quest 3 owners about some great deals. The rather expensive Meta Quest 3 Charging Dock, Carrying Case, and Facial Interface Head Strap are all 30% off right now. This Day in Gaming Aussie birthdays for notable games. - Smash Court Tennis 2 (PS2) 2004. Ebay -...
Konami has announced that a Silent Hill Transmission will take place on Thursday, May 30, at 4pm PT/7pm ET that will reveal game updates, a "deeper look at the film," and new merch. This second Silent Hill Transmission was announced on X/Twitter with no further hints as to what we'll see, but thankfully our wait for answers isn't too long. "Consider this your invitation letter to Silent Hill," the official Silent Hill X/Twitter account wrote. "Tune in May 30 at 4 p.m. PDT to our SILENT HILL YouTube channel for the second installment of the #SILENTHILL Transmission where we'll share game updates, a deeper look at the film, and new merch. #SILENTHILL" The first Silent Hill Transmission took place on October 19, 2022, and included...
Five years ago, a group of friends who played Counter-Strike: Global Offensive together had a simple question: “How can we make getting skins more fun and transparent for players?” The answer was to create Skin.Club, a website that gives players several options for how to acquire skins that can be transferred directly into their Steam account. Skin.Club has continued to add new features over the years and has grown in popularity. It has worked with some of the most prominent professional players, esports teams, and streamers in the Counter-Strike community — including Karrigan, Kassad, KennyS, 00Nation, Into The Breach, and many more. If you’re not familiar with the Counter-Strike series, it’s a first-person shooter that started back...
A bunch of smarmy teenagers with ridiculous haircuts trying to escape the gloved clutches of an alien race of clowns is the kind of absurd and cheesy premise that makes perfect fodder for the asymmetrical multiplayer horror genre. Following in the footsteps of Friday the 13th, Evil Dead, and many more licensed games, the 1988 cult classic film Killer Klowns from Outer Space is the latest horror movie to try its hand at capturing our still-beating hearts with high-stakes murder sports. I need to spend some more time with Killer Klowns once its servers go live, but so far I can say that trying to either escape those deadly Klowns with my life or do my best to murder every angsty teenager in sight is already stupid fun no matter which side...
The Yakuza/Like a Dragon series may be a hit today but Sega originally "flat out rejected" it according to series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi. Appearing on Weekly Ochiai, translated by Automaton, Nagoshi said the Sonic the Hedgehog publisher wanted to make family friendly games which would appeal to a large number of people in the early 2000s. He therefore struggled to get his game about the Japanese criminal underworld approved. "This mindset [of appealing to the masses] wasn’t really leading to a solution, and I saw many game proposals gradually become watered down as producers bended over to change things the way management instructed them to. This is where everything started," Nagoshi said. "Of course, it was flat out rejected...
City builders and survival games can be difficult genres to ease yourself into. They can seem especially daunting when they’re a sequel to a predecessor built on as complex foundations as Frostpunk was. It's pleasantly surprising, then, that Frostpunk 2 feels so welcoming to new players. As someone not fully versed in the two genres it blends so delicately, and with just a handful of hours in the original Frostpunk, I loved my time with its prettier, and thoroughly political sequel. Largely thanks to the neverending series of moral conundrums thrown my way, I had a lot of fun in New London, even if all of the citizens I tried to save experienced the complete opposite. Tasked with building and evolving a city to combat the endless...
Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke has admitted the Baldur's Gate 3 team had "to crunch a bit" during development, meaning employees had to work overtime in order to finish the game on time. As reported by Games Radar, Vincke said at the Digital Dragons conference that the amount of crunch required for Baldur's Gate 3 was less than the studio's previous games, however, and he thinks some overtime is always required to complete a game. "Certainly less on Baldur's Gate 3 than we did in the past," Vincke said when asked if Larian employees had to crunch to finish development. "It would be a lie to say that we didn't. We had things happen that we didn't foresee." It would be a lie to say that we didn't. Vincke insisted employees, including...
Let's kick off another week of bargain hunting for bangers. Today's all about Rockstar must-owns that are nearly half-off, Assassin's Creeds that are exactly half-off, and multiple reduced entrypoints into Elden Ring. The shadow of that Erdtree DLC is getting closer. You need to be levelled up (considerably) and ready for some serious pain. So get on the grind. In retro news, I'm celebrating the 14th birthday of Guitar Hero: Metallica, an S-ranker of that franchise. Before the series devolved into the nonsense of Warriors of Rock or the "microtransacted songs you don't actually own" grift of Guitar Hero Live, the 7th installment was dedicated to one of the greatest bands of all-time. I still have fond memories of tackling Expert+...
PC gaming is one of the fastest-growing landscapes in the games industry right now. With major storefronts like Steam leading the way, developers are pushing to prioritize PC as a platform and accommodate hundreds of millions of users each month. Purchasing a good gaming PC is a major investment that can cost you as much as you want it to. There are thousands of options, each ranging from $500 to over $10,000. This is a benefit of looking for a PC versus a console, as you can spend as little or as much as you'd like. Go for that budget PC or reach for the stars with a top-of-the-line model. It's important to keep in mind that technology, specifically PC components, is always evolving. New hardware releases each week, which leads to...
Call of Duty publisher Activision and Facebook and Instagram owner Meta are being sued in a new suit filed today by several families of victims of the 2022 Uvalde elementary school shooting, The New York Times reports today. The lawsuit, filed in California, comes alongside an additional suit filed in Texas targeting the manufacturer of the gunman's AR-15-style rifle, Daniel Defense. Both suits arrive on the two-year anniversary of the shooting, in which 19 children and two teachers were killed at Robb Elementary School. The documents claim that Activision, Meta, and Daniel Defense each took part in "grooming" the gunman to be a mass shooter. Activision and Meta are being sued, essentially, for the roles the documents allege they...
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 may come to last-gen consoles if new leaked details are to be believed. An image shared by a Reddit user earlier today (via CharlieIntel) reveals what seems to be GameStop pre-order information for this year’s Call of Duty. As the picture shows, options for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, and, most notably, PS4 are included in the list of copies available for purchase. If the image is accurate, it means Black Ops 6 will be available on a console that originally launched in 2013. Insider Gaming says its sources were able to verify the image, suggesting that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be coming to last-gen consoles. Notably, the image does not mention Xbox One, but the site adds that the Xbox Series...
XDefiant is an FPS with an identity crisis. This arcade-style arena shooter pulls characters and locations from various Ubisoft games, and it feels a little bit like a lot of different things as a result: It's fast and twitchy in a way that’s similar to games like Call of Duty, but has class abilities that might put it closer to something like Overwatch. It’s got fast respawns and faster deaths, but offers objective-based modes that prioritize teamwork over straight killcount. That combination of disparate elements helps XDefiant play a little differently overall from most competitive shooters, but it also makes it feel a bit jumbled, like its parts aren’t always working together toward the same goals. Call of Duty figured out the fun...
Bethesda and id Software’s next Doom game is reportedly called Doom: The Dark Ages and is expected to be revealed at next month’s Xbox Games Showcase, according to Insider Gaming. A report from the site says fans will see the next entry in the classic first-person shooter franchise when Microsoft holds its gaming event come June 9. It adds that the title has been in development for at least four years and judging by early details from last year, it may feature a medieval theme. id’s next mainline Doom game has been rumored for years, though it has been called a different name in the past. Leaked Microsoft court documents from 2023 revealed something known as Doom: Year Zero. If Doom: The Dark Ages is real, it's likely the final name...
Some of the people who ordered the physical Deluxe Edition of Baldur's Gate 3 — specifically, those in North America who ordered PlayStation 5 copies — will have to wait just a little bit longer. In a statement today, developer Larian Studios announced that fans who pre-ordered PS5 North American Deluxe Editions won't get their hands on them until July due to "more production issues." "Due to production changes outside of our control, we have had to follow certain processes specifically set by production companies when manufacturing the PS5 discs, and unfortunately, the approval for particular regions has taken much longer than expected," Larian explained in the statement on X/Twitter, which you can read in full below. Larian went...

XDefiant launched its pre-season this week and Ubisoft’s free-to-play first-person Call of Duty competitor appears to be going down well with competitive shooter fans hankering for an old-school experience. But there’s one issue with the game that sticks out more than any other: hit registration. Hit registration is a video game’s ability to detect the impact of projectiles accuracy. Soon after XDefiant launched this week across PC via Ubisoft Connect, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, players took to social media, subreddits and Discord to say the game was doing a poor job of hit registration, letting characters avoid fire more than they’re used to in other similar games. Redditor ChuckedBankForFbow called XDefiant’s hit...
Cardy, Matt, and Mat are here this week to talk about cursed meals they've eaten. Before all of that, though, there are thoughts on the madness that is Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, why Hellblade 2 isn't quite working for them, the intriguing concept behind sci-fi survival game The Alters, and another of Cardy's foreign film recommendations in the shape of Hirokazu Kore-eda's Monster. As ever, there’s also the regular dose of madness thanks to your feedback, including multiple unseasoned ground beef recipes. Send in your food nonsense to ign_ukfeedback@ign.com (or questions and thoughts about games, TV, and films – we should probably stay on topic at least 60% of the time). Jan Dolski is marooned on an alien planet, tasked with piloting a hulking mobile laboratory shaped like a giant wheel. If he doesn’t keep it moving, the planet's orbit will catch up with him and he’ll burn in the heat of a nearby sun. It takes a whole team of specialists to keep the base running, but Jan is all by himself. So, there's only one thing to do: make more Jans. Not clones, but alternate Jans birthed from alternative realities. He must learn to work with these Jans and, in the process, may end up learning more about himself. This is the crux of The Alters, an introspective survival game about self-discovery as much as it is about seeking an escape plan from an alien planet. My gameplay demo began with being tasked to gather...
Wuthering Waves’ global launch is suffering from a number of technical issues that have forced developer Kuro Games to issue an apology and offer compensation, but this latest exploit left some players hoping it sticks around for as long as possible. Wuthering Waves is an open-world Genshin Impact-style Gacha game from Chinese studio Kuro that launched globally in free-to-play form across PC and mobile this week. As revealed in a number of gameplay clips posted to Chinese video-sharing website Bilibili, Wuthering Waves players soon worked out that by manually changing the date in their system time settings after logging into the game, they were able to access an upcoming playable character called Yinlin. This appears to only unlock...
The developer behind Wuthering Waves has apologized for its rocky launch and offered players compensation. Wuthering Waves is an open-world Genshin Impact-style Gacha game from Chinese developer Kuro that launched globally in free-to-play form across PC and mobile this week. But the launch has seen a number of issues since, including a raft of bugs and lag problems. In a tweet, Kuro said it was actively working on solutions to these problems. “We are committed to constant self-reflection and improvement, with your satisfaction as our top priority,” the developer said. “We are incredibly grateful for your understanding and patience during our recent technical issues.” The scale of the technical issues is laid out in a post on the...
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League developer Rocksteady has teased the introduction of Mrs. Freeze with a chilly change to the game world made by the latest patch. Players spotted the small tease for Season 2 following the release of this week’s Season 1 - Episode 2 update. The clip, published by the Arkham Videos X/Twitter account, shows an icy section of Metropolis alongside an advert for Ho-Ho Frozen Chicken Bites. Rocksteady has yet to announce Season 2 or what it will add to the game, but it is expected to launch with a new playable character. Season 1 added Joker to the live service co-op shooter. The addition of Mrs. Freeze won’t come as much of a surprise to Kill the Justice League’s core fanbase, given datamining has...

Well-received turn-based tactical Warhammer 40,000 game Mechanicus is getting a sequel, announced at the Warhammer Skulls showcase alongside a debut trailer. Mechanicus is a 2018 strategy game that revolves around the Adeptus Mechanicus, Warhammer 40,000’s popular Machine God-worshiping, technology-obsessed Imperium-aligned faction. Publisher Kasedo Games and developer Bulwark Studios said Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2 lets you play as the Necrons, Warhammer 40,000’s deathless killer robot faction, or the Adeptus Mechanicus. Here’s the official blurb: Both the Necrons and the Adeptus Mechanicus are fully playable over multiple campaigns, Kasedo said. You manage your territories’ garrisons and assemble forces for each mission...
Over the past 10 years, The Sims 4 has certainly struggled under the technical weight of years of updates and DLC releases, much to the annoyance of fans. But today, the team's pledged to put more resources into the "core game experience." The Sims released a statement on the matter earlier today, in which the team acknowledged that "technical issues with The Sims 4 have interrupted your gameplay over time and we recognize that this has caused you much frustration." Bungie has given fans their first listen of Keith David as Commander Zavala in Destiny 2 following the passing of his original actor, Lance Reddick, last March. The short peek at this new chapter for the Guardian figurehead arrived in a Destiny 2 ViDoc earlier today. The nine-minute video, titled Becoming Legend – Part 1: Confronting Oblivion, offers just a few, somber lines that highlight David’s proud-yet-gravely delivery. “I used to think I’d give anything to bring you back,” Commander Zavala says in one section. In another moment, he says, “I won’t lose another soldier in this war.” Both clips were captured and shared by @DestinyBulletn on X/Twitter. Reddick, who had portrayed the commander since his introduction in 2017...
