The recent PS4 and PS5 ports of Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 are already some of the best-selling games of the year, according to analysts.
Last month, Activision surprised Call of Duty fans by dropping ports of Black Ops 1 and 2 on modern PlayStation consoles. Activision has somewhat notoriously avoided re-releasing older Call of Duty games, as fans speculate that it would distract players from the newer games that are more lucrative for the publisher. Still, it seems that after Black Ops 7 failed to meet expectations last year, these ports were put into production to earn back player trust (and generate some quick cash, too).

Game Freak has promised a series of quick fixes after a mixed response to the launch of its big budget RPG Beast of Reincarnation.
Best known as the developer of Pokémon, Game Freak has continued to make various other games over the years — though none as ambitious-looking as action role-playing epic Beast of Reincarnation, which launched for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S yesterday.
But despite some flashy trailers and a lovable-looking dog companion, Beast of Reincarnation has garnered a tepid response from players. On Steam, the game sits with a Mixed user rating after more than 1,600 reviews. IGN's own Beast of Reincarnation review returned a 6/10 score, meanwhile.

It's no secret that gaming hardware has been getting more expensive this year, so it shouldn't be surprising that people are buying less of it. But, it turns out that AMD's gaming business shrank by a whopping 31% in Q2 2026.
In the second quarter of the year, the gaming business only made $779 million, compared to $1.1 billion in Q2 2025, according to the company's latest earnings report. AMD attributes this loss to "lower semi-custom revenue," which means fewer consoles have been selling over the last few months. This is in a time that would have included the Steam Machine and the AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE in June 2026.

Blizzard will launch Diablo 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 next month, a fresh leak has revealed.
As reported by Dealabs' ever-reliable billbil-kun, the Switch 2 version of Diablo 4 will arrive in mid-September priced at $69.99 / £62.99 / €69.99, more than three years after the game first debuted on PC, PlayStation and Xbox back in June 2023.
Alongside a digital launch via the eShop, the game's Switch 2 port will also be released with a physical edition — though this will just contain a digital download code in an otherwise empty box. (Yes, there's not even a Game-Key Card here.)

According to Rebs Gaming, a popular Halo insider whose reporting journalists have corroborated in the past, the recent Halo remake underwent major changes during its development. According to a now-deleted Stream by Valve leaker Tyler Mcvicker, and spotted by NotebookCheck, the Steam Frame could end up at a price at or above $1100. A Rust player left paralyzed by cops in a swatting incident is now suing the police for $176 million.
Back in April of this year, 23-year-old Tucson resident Axeel Melendez was shot in his leg and spine by two officers who stormed into his house via his bedroom window. The cops were responding to a false report of an active shooter in the building — despite Melendez previously warning their unit that he was being targeted by a potential swatter.
Melendez will likely remain paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of his life, and is now seeking damages for his medical expenses and wage losses.
