Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian has released Hotfix #11, which addresses several bugs, visual issues, and blockers and takes the phenomenally successful Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game up to v4.1.1.3956130. As is tradition at this point, Larian had fun with the patch notes, describing how the studio sorted out a blocker that popped up during Gale’s romance scene. “Have you ever had a romance so intense, that everything melts away? Well, sometimes that isn’t intentional. We’ve fixed an issue where Gale’s romance scene was playing in what looked like some kind of black void. Consider the ambience restored.” Meanwhile, Larian said it’s working on a fix for Astarion’s kissing animations, which it’s very much aware of. This fix is...
Hot on the heels of Capcom’s announcement of a Dragon’s Dogma 2 showcase stream set for November 28, we have what looks like a leak of the game’s release date. European video game ratings board PEGI listed Dragon’s Dogma 2 with a release date of March 22, 2024 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. That release date makes sense in the context of Capcom’s current financial year, which ends March 31, 2024. The company may want to see the hotly anticipated RPG make a meaningful contribution to its bottom line in time for the close of the reporting period. It seems likely we’ll find out the Dragon’s Dogma 2 release date officially during the showcase, which takes place 1pm Pacific / 4pm Eastern / 9pm UK on November 28 and...
Following this month’s surprise addition of Disney/Pixar’s Up for the PlayStation Portable to the PlayStation Plus Classics library comes the likely addition of three more Disney games. As spotted by Gematsu, the Taiwan ratings board has once again spilled the beans on new games coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. (Taiwan listed Up ahead of its announcement.) The three games are: • Disney/Pixar Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (PS1) • Thrillville: Off the Rails (PSP) • Thrillville (PSP) The revival of these Disney/Pixar games comes as some surprise given the low interest in the community and what you would think would be a licensing nightmare. But that didn’t stop Up on PSP from getting a second chance over 14 years after it...

Mortal Kombat 1’s Kameo system features support characters who you can call in to perform special attacks in a limited fashion. Some of the Kameo characters are just that, and are not part of the roster of playable characters. But that hasn’t stopped one modder from working to make them playable. That modder is ermaccer, who published an impressive proof of concept video showcasing early work done to make currently Kameo-exclusive characters Jax, Sonya, Sareena, and Stryker all playable. The mod, when it's finished, will let players swap character definitions (Kameo->Main and vice versa) but will, by ermaccer’s own admission, be limited because Kameo characters have to use a playable character’s moveset as they don’t have their own...
Call of Duty is known for its elaborate camos (one of which is literally galaxies moving about), but playing with this latest skin is perhaps not the brightest idea. The Royalty Tiger Weapon Camo for Modern Warfare 3 is exclusive to the official Call of Duty Task Force 141 Crossbody Sling Bag, sold from the Call of Duty Shop for $60 (you’ll need to pay more to get it shipped, of course). Here’s how the bag looks: The bag comes with “free in-game content”: the Royalty Tiger weapon camo. While the bag is now marked as sold out, players have started to use the camo in-game, and, well, it’s perhaps the brightest weapon camo ever seen in a Call of Duty game. Just look at this thing: So what's going on here? According to YouTuber...
Capcom has announced a Dragon Dogma's 2 Showcase for November 28, 2023, which is set to include big reveals and new gameplay. The event will take place 1pm Pacific / 4pm Eastern / 9pm UK and is set to last roughly 15 minutes. Capcom didn't reveal where exactly fans can watch the showcase, but it will likely be streamed on its YouTube channel if not the official Dragon's Dogma one. "Set forth on your grand adventure, Arisen! Get the latest info on this action-RPG designed to place player choice at the heart of the gameplay experience," reads the post. "Join director Hideaki Itsuno and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi as they present all the latest info and gameplay in this approximately 15 minute showcase." Dragon's Dogma 2 still lacks...
The moon of Pandora is host to a pair of different worlds; the harmonious, nature-loving Na’vi and the industrial, destructive humans of the RDA. In Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora you play as a native Na’vi, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be restricted to using just their traditional tools and weaponry. “As a child of two worlds, someone that was brought up and trained by the RDA forcefully, you do have the knowledge of human tools,” explains Magnus Jansen, creative director of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. “Not just weapons but their technology and other things as well.” But if you have access to rocket launchers, assault rifles, and grenades, why would you ever use the Na’vi’s comparatively primitive weapons? We spoke to the developers...

Krafton, the studio behind battle royale PUBG, is trying something different: a Sims competitor built in Unreal Engine 5. Krafton showed off the game during G-STAR 2023, an international gaming event in Busan, South Korea. The video, below, shows off an impressive-looking life simulation game with realistic graphics. Familiar Sims elements are present and correct, but with a hyper-realistic look. We see characters go about their lives, character creation, relationships, Build Mode, and a Director’s Mode in which you can change the character’s schedule, the weather, and even the city. You can apply filters to the in-game picture, too. InZoi is one of Krafton's new “self-developed” games due out from 2024. It said players “become...

Lords of the Fallen update v1.1.326 is now available and includes a "complete overhaul to all bosses" and much more. Developer Hexworks revealed the changes in a Reddit post, saying it's "delighted to share with you the next big optimization update, which also marks the start of our ongoing PvP/PvE balancing split, as well as the much requested improvements to the lock-on system and boss difficulty increases." The boss overhaul comes as a result of player feedback and internal findings that many bosses in the game, which come at the core of Lords of the Fallen's Souls-like gameplay, "simply weren't posing enough of a challenge". Hexworks has therefore rebalanced boss behaviours alongside their hit points and damage outputs. All...

Editor's note: This list was originally published in February 2021 and last updated November 16, 2023. Changes included replacing Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order with Jedi Survivor, adding in three newer releases and bumping Lords of the Fallen, Code Vein and Darksiders 3 off of the list. The legacy of FromSoftware’s Souls series isn’t just defined by the amazing games that it’s made up of, but also the subgenre that’s been given life thanks to its very existence: The soulslike. We last updated this list back in February of 2021, and since then there have been all sorts of new and exciting additions to the genre that have shaken things up. So with that said, let’s take another look at our picks for the 10 best Soulslikes – specifically...

MapleStory, the 2D fantasy MMORPG that’s been miraculously chugging along successfully since 2003, is getting a huge new update today. And while the game still has a massive audience that you’d think would be celebrating a surge of new content, instead a major chunk of its community is furious. From the outside looking in, the New Age update seems fairly innocuous. Its most notable change is adding a sixth job advancement to MapleStory, which if you’re not familiar with the game, effectively allows players to grow their respective classes and skills further than ever before. The update also includes a new area to explore, Identisk, and the return of “Burning” events that offer much-needed, major EXP boosts to players. There’s a lot to...
Invincible, Omni-Man, and Atom Eve may be swooping into Fortnite soon, according to leaked images. Fortnite dataminer Shiina shared images on X/Twitter showing off the skins for the three characters, although Epic has not yet officially confirmed what would be yet another high-profile IP collaboration. The superheroes of Robert Kirkman's comic books and hit Amazon animated series look sharp in their cel-shaded forms, just like the other licensed characters that came before. Shiina showed off accessories associated with the Invincible skins on YouTube that can be used by other characters, including their capes, the Reaniman Arm, Atom Eve's Subatomic Swords, War Woman's Mace, even the severed head of the Immortal, and a Burger Mart...
Over the past year or so, Maxis has slowly revealed more details on The Sims 5, which is currently called Project Rene. One of these details has been that it'll have multiplayer, although the team hasn't quite hinted at what this might look like until recently. Yesterday, in an interview on Radio Times' One More Life podcast, Vice President of Franchise Creative Lyndsay Pearson discussed the inspirations behind Project Rene's in-progress multiplayer feature, citing two (very different) games in particular. Pearson mentioned that The Sims developers "talk about Animal Crossing all the time, because it is such a good example of my little space, my little island, but I can invite you over." "And we've seen throughout the last few years...
Over the past few weeks, fans have praised Fortnite's OG update, which brought the game's original map back after several years. Now, however, the Fortnite community is up in arms once again after the game's latest feature was announced. Today, Epic Games announced that all Fortnite islands will now have age ratings via a post on the Fortnite website, something we already knew was in the works. What has fans angry, though, is that it also gives every cosmetic item an age rating, and if an item is not compatible with an island's rating, it cannot be equipped within that island (and becomes replaced by a default item if already equipped). "This is to help parents and players make informed play decisions about the thousands of games and...
Redfall's next game update is here, but if you were hoping that this new patch would roll out the option to play offline, you would be disappointed. Redfall publisher Bethesda Softworks revealed all the changes in a new blog post. The biggest one is the addition of the Basilisk, a new sniper rifle that "charges the first bullet in a full magazine with UV power that can petrify Vampires," but it does not work on enemies that are immune to petrification or were recently petrified, according to Bethesda. The patch notes also mention that Arkane is continuing the development of the Hero Pass. However, no further details were shared, and players must wait until "later next year" for more information. The Hero Pass, available as part of...
Even way back in 2007 when we entered the Animus for the first time in the original Assassin’s Creed, who among us never imagined the day we’d be able to enter the same virtual world as Desmond Miles to do battle with Templars? Well, we may not be dangling from a giant robot tentacle like Michael Fassbender just yet, but with Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR we’re at least one step closer to that Holy Grail. Thankfully, the series’ first crack at VR is largely a success, providing an unexpectedly complete Assassin’s Creed adventure (currently exclusive to the Meta Quest 2/3/Pro) that nails parkour and stealth, and even has a decent story to boot. It’s Ubisoft’s most immersive Assassin’s Creed game ever, and although there are plenty of areas...

Larian Studios has officially announced its long-awaited physical edition, coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X in Q1 of 2024. The physical Baldur’s Gate 3: Deluxe Edition be priced at 79.99 £/€, and notably, it'll be playable-on-disc - although it'll take a few discs to support such a chonky game. The PS5 version will sport two discs, while the Xbox version will come with a whopping three discs. The PC version, meanwhile, hosts a custom installer and comes with a Steam key. “This experiment is what we feel the future of physical media looks like, at least for us at Larian,” Michael Douse, Larien's Director of Publishing, said in a statement with the announcement. “We spent the last few months learning how to do it from...
The boss of embattled games company Embracer has refused to answer a question about the troubled Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, despite increasing concern about the project. During a financial presentation, Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors remained tight-lipped when asked how he was feeling about the KOTOR remake. “I notice that anything I say to this becomes a headline, so that is my only comment,” he responded. Embracer has refused to comment on the issue despite multiple requests from IGN ever since it emerged the KOTOR remake had encountered development trouble. Last year, development on the KOTOR remake was reportedly paused indefinitely after disappointment over progress made with the hotly anticipated RPG. A demo...
This week marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of the PS4. A console packed full of incredible games such as God of War, Bloodborne, and The Last of Us Part 2, it can prove very hard to pick a single favourite from the library. Well, we decided to try anyway. Below, we asked several IGN members of staff to choose just one game that jumps out at them when they hear the words “PlayStation 4”. Don’t see your favourite mentioned anywhere? Let us know what you’d pick and why in the comments. Simon Cardy - Red Dead Redemption 2 There’s no world I enjoyed or got lost in more frequently on the PS4 than Red Dead Redemption 2. The long-awaited Wild West sequel fulfilled all hopes about what Rockstar could do when imprinting their trademark...
All Mortal Kombat 1 characters have Brutalities — unique moves that end a match in a particularly brutal fashion. They’re triggered by doing an extra input command on top of a specific combo ender or move that wins the final round. Most of the characters in the game have six brutalities, but players are starting to discover hidden brutalities, too. Recently released DLC character Omni-Man has a secret brutality that’s in essence an alternate version of one of his existing brutalities. For detailed instructions, head over to IGN’s Mortal Kombat 1 how to do hidden brutalities guide. But in short, you need to perform Omni-Man’s 'You Got Boned' Brutality but hold down both triggers as you press down three times during the throw animation...
Boutique video game publisher Annapurna has announced its first acquisition, 24 Bit Games, for an undisclosed fee. Based in Johannesburg, 24 Bit Games is described as South Africa’s “largest and most successful” game company, and has worked to support development on a number of Annapurna games, including the recently released and superb Cocoon. The acquisition of 24 Bit Games expands Annapurna’s Interactive Division, the company said, and will help the studio grow its development team. “Annapurna has been working with 24 Bit for many years, and we value not only the caliber of their work, but their team as well,” said Deborah Mars, Co-Head, Annapurna Interactive. “They’ve always shared our commitment to quality, and by taking our...
Epic Games is taking an additional step to curb inappropriate behavior in Fortnite by introducing a new voice reporting feature, making it easier for players to easily clip audio and anonymously file a report whenever they catch another player violating the community rules. In a blog post, Epic reveals that the feature will always be on for voice chats for players under 18, with the only ways to avoid audio capture either turning off voice chat entirely or muting their mic. Players over the age of 18 will have the option to customize their voice chat reporting features by heading into the audio settings. When a user is filing a report, audio from the last five minutes is uploaded and sent to Epic's moderators, who will review the...
