The United States Supreme Court has denied a request to hear Epic Games v. Apple, the antitrust lawsuit regarding Apple's practices in its app store.
As reported by Reuters, the Supreme Court published a list of cases pending in the court right now, in addition to legal cases it declined to hear. Two of which included appeals from both Apple and Epic Games. None of the justices provided reasons for refusing to hear either case.
"The Supreme Court denied both sides' appeals of the Epic v. Apple antitrust case," Epic Games founder and CEO Tim Sweeney wrote on X/Twitter. "The court battle to open iOS to competing stores and payments is lost in the United States. A sad outcome for all developers."

Microsoft has snapped up 11 bit studios’ promising city-builder sequel Frostpunk 2 as a day-one PC Game Pass title.
Frostpunk 2, which for some time now has been one of the most wishlisted games on Steam alongside the likes of Hades 2, Manor Lords, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, launches on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG, in the first half of 2024.

Take-Two Interactive, the owner of Grand Theft Auto 6 developer Rockstar Games, and Remedy Entertainment, the studio behind Alan Wake 2, are locked in a trademark dispute over their R-depicting logos.
As first reported by RespawnFirst, Take-Two filed a trademark dispute against Remedy in the United Kingdom over the rebranded logo it released last year. Its logo now solely depicts the letter R, or is sometimes styled with "Remedy" underneath, which Take-Two seemingly believes is too similar to Rockstar's own R logo.

The fighting game hit the milestone on January 3, 2024, and comes seven months after it went on sale on June 2, 2023. Street Fighter 6 got off to a strong start with one million sold over launch weekend. It then hit two million copies sold after just over a month on sale. That means it’s taken half a year to sell one million more copies.

The director of Overwatch 2 has said it was a "mistake" to reveal a controversial new self-healing mechanic coming to all characters in the hero shooter “out of context."
Last week, developer Blizzard unveiled seismic changes coming to Overwatch 2 as part of Season 9, none more disruptive than giving both Tank and Damage heroes a “modified, tuned-down version of the Support self-healing passive.”

Speaking on the XboxEra Podcast, and as reported by Eurogamer, Shpeshal_Nick said the Halo battle royale was no-longer in development. IGN has asked Microsoft for comment.
Word of the Halo battle royale has popped up every now and then ever since Halo Infinite came out in 2021. Codenamed Tatanka, the battle royale mode was reportedly in development at support studio Certain Affinity, although neither Microsoft nor Halo developer 343 has ever commented publicly on it.

Free-to-play third-person multiplayer online battle arena game Smite launched in 2014. The sequel is built using Unreal Engine 5, with an alpha playtest planned for spring 2024 some 10 years after the original came out.
Smite was originally designed on Unreal Engine 3 back in the early 2010s and has stayed on that platform. “While it has worked well for us, 10 years is a long time and our work thus far in Unreal Engine 5 has shown us just how exciting the future of Smite can be,” Hi-Rez said.

The veteran Tekken character launches at some point this spring, as revealed in a new video showing off Tekken 8’s opening movie.
Eddy sports a new high-top dreads hairstyle and a new outfit for Tekken 8, although his capoeira fighting style is present and correct.
The video reveals four DLC characters are currently planned for season 1, the first of which is Eddy. Another follows in summer, another in the autumn, then the fourth in the winter.
