In some ways, Samson reminds me a little of 2025’s MindsEye. That is, like MindsEye, it’s regularly gorgeous, has some neat vehicles, and is intentionally narrower and far less GTA-adjacent in scope than it may look like at first blush. However, also like MindsEye, Samson is pretty bad. With extremely janky combat, predictable car chases, and a small pool of constantly repeating missions, this open-world driving-brawler hybrid became a dull and annoying slog long before I reached the end of my 12-hour stint with it. Worse, even though I’ve cleared the mammoth $100,000 debt that drives Samson’s daily grind of crime, a game-breaking bug has left me soft-locked out of actually finishing the main missions and rolling credits. It’s as if...
Developer 3DClouds has announced it has partnered with the FIA Formula E World Championship for a fully licensed expansion for its 2025 racer Formula Legends. The Formula E: Electric Evolution expansion will arrive on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms on April 30, 2026, with Nintendo platforms arriving at an unspecified later date. The expansion will feature all the manufacturers, drivers, and teams, plus six real-world tracks from the official Formula E series (Berlin, Tokyo, London, São Paulo, Miami, and Shanghai). In sync with Formula Legends’ established approach to its representation of racing over multiple eras, it will also feature GEN1, GEN2, and GEN3 cars. “To have a series as prestigious and entertaining as the ABB FIA...
The Epic Games Store is almost 10 years old, launching all the way back in 2017. And while it's kind of come a long way since then – it has a search function now – it's still exponentially worse than Steam, which it was built to dethrone. To this day, Epic's storefront is slow and devoid of the features that transformed Steam from an annoying piece of DRM you had to install with Half-Life 2 into the community-focused storefront that's nearly synonymous with "PC gaming” itself. It's little wonder, then, that an Epic employee told Polygon that most users "come for the free games, then leave." If Epic really does want to dethrone Steam, then I can't help but wonder if it has its priorities completely backwards. Publishers Aren’t The...
Apparently the settlement that would become the city of San Francisco was once called Yerba Buena, which is where this quirky physics platformer got its name. Set in an alternate reality 1970’s version of the City by the Bay, my 90-minute demo had me rushing to rescue a friend, discovering the first seeds of a government conspiracy, and scratching my head over a lot of the writing decisions. On the plus side, the art in Yerba Buena is quite charming. It reminds me a bit of some of Telltale's older games, like it was torn out of the pages of a graphic novel. The characters are richly designed with clothing and hairstyles that ground everything in the ‘70s. The colorful streets capture an almost mythological ideal of SF, a city I lived...
In March, Ubisoft released the first piece of concept art for Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced, confirming the existence of the remake of the beloved pirate installment of the series, and today we have a release date, July 9. The date was reported by Insider Gaming but hasn't been confirmed by Ubisoft as yet. In a (now deleted) March blog post from Ubisoft's Jean Guesdon, Head of Content did hint at the rumors of the remake. "Speculation around Assassin's Creed is not new, but it's worth repeating: "Nothing is true. Everything is permitted." Well, except in this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon. 🦜" The project's official name, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced, was...
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has now hit a hugely impressive 12 million players, with publisher Focus Entertainment celebrating its success. “A couple years ago, we had great hopes for this project. Today, it has surpassed even our wildest dreams,” Focus said. It’s worth noting this is not an announcement of 12 million sales. While Space Marine 2 has sold wonderfully well, its player count was boosted by its recent addition into video game subscription services. All told, the Saber Interactive-developed third-person action game has blown away all expectations, with Space Marine 3 in active development even as Space Marine 2 updates continue. In a recent interview with IGN, Saber development chief Tim Willits denied the suggestion...
Street Fighter 6 added Alex to its fighter line-up last month. But what should have been the welcome return of an old character turned into controversy, as Alex’s complex family dynamics were revealed in the arcade mode ending and World Tour scenes, namely his marriage to younger step sister/distant cousin Patricia. However, the resulting April 15 patch has drawn criticism for making Alex’s convoluted family relations even vaguer. American fighter Alex Winger debuted as the face of 1997's Street Fighter 3 New Generation, which also introduced his adoptive father and mentor figure, Tom. Alex’s relationship with Tom’s daughter Patricia was always portrayed as a sibling bond, as they grew up together. However, Street Fighter 6 turns this...
If you’re a fan of seeing iconic fighting game franchises on the big screen, then 2026 is truly your year. Not only is Warner Bros. releasing the second film in its rebooted Mortal Kombat series, we’re also getting a brand new Street Fighter movie courtesy of Paramount Pictures and Legendary Entertainment. Hollywood has tried and failed to adapt this colorful franchise in the past, but will the third time be the charm? Well, it can’t be any worse than 2009’s Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. We’ve finally gotten our first good look at Street Fighter thanks to a new trailer released during CinemaCon 2026. And if there’s any one takeaway from this footage, it’s that Street Fighter looks like a whole lot of fun. It even opens with...
James Bond video game 007: First Light will feature a main title theme sung by Lana Del Rey, publisher IO Interactive has announced. Bond fans have long suspected Del Rey is behind 007: First Light's title track — ever since she registered a fresh song titled "First Light" to the ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) database late last year. Del Rey had used her real name, Elizabeth Grant, for the registration — but internet sleuths quickly connected the dots. Now, the track is live on Del Rey's YouTube channel — and it sounds a fitting Bond song, while also playfully referencing the fact First Light is a video game (and perhaps also Del Rey's own iconic tune, Video Games). Veteran Bond composer David Arnold...
Bigger maps, naval warfare, and persistent servers are just a few of the additions coming to Battlefield 6, as its developers have promised to finally, directly address community feedback with a series of major updates throughout 2026. After months of outcry for more content and reports of declining interest from players, the four-studio group that makes up Battlefield Studios is going to great lengths to win back fans. IGN was invited for a Q&A session with the team to learn more about what is coming in Season 3, 4, and even 5, and while it’s unclear if it will be enough to reach the heights of launch, one thing is certain: they are listening. Season 3 EA and BF Studios are, at last, implementing their plans to finally let...
Hytale developer Hypixel Studios is taking legal action against a copycat game that popped up on the Nintendo eShop last week. Hytale, the sandbox RPG, is taking action against Hytale: Sandbox RPG, a recently released Switch game with striking similarities that go far beyond just its name, including a suspiciously similar art style and promotional images. Asked if he was aware of the possibly copyright-infringing game, Hypixel Studios founder Simon Collins-Laflamme confirmed he had, writing on X/Twitter: "Yeah, it's being handled by the legal team" (thanks, Automaton). The clone seems to have been developed by the same team behind Coin Pit, a "scam knock-off of Clover Pit," as one player accurately surmised. "This is just the tip of...
Pragmata is Capcom’s second RE Engine-based game in just a few months, and while the gameplay feels like it was ripped straight out of the Xbox 360 era, the game looks much better. And, because it’s a relatively small game built on the engine Capcom built for Resident Evil, it runs extremely well across a wide range of hardware. Hell, it even looks pretty good on the Nintendo Switch 2. Most gaming PCs should be able to run Pragmata with little issue, but just like with any PC game, the trick is finding that perfect middle ground between image quality and performance. For anyone with a high-end machine packing something like an RTX 5080, this will just mean cranking up all the settings, turning path tracing and frame generation on and...
It’s difficult to look at Mouse: P.I. For Hire without your jaw hitting the floor. The game feels like the fever-dream result of Walt Disney ditching family-friendly classics like Snow White to produce ultra-violent mob shooters immediately after 1928’s Steamboat Willie. If you have a thirst for high-octane FPS action wrapped in a legendary aesthetic, here is why Mouse: P.I. For Hire is the rubber hose, guns-blazing shooter you’ve been waiting for. A Cartoon Veneer Over A Whole Lotta Ultraviolence It bears repeating: no other game on the market looks quite like this. By adopting the “rubber hose” animation style pioneered in the early 20th century, the game oozes the bouncy, whimsically cheerful energy of early Disney or Fleischer...
Ashes of Creation director Steven Sharif has hit out at alleged "coordinated attacks" against him and his studio, Intrepid Studios, insisting recent claims about the company's finances were "completely false and already faltering under judicial review," and calling the drama "one of the craziest stories gaming has ever seen." Earlier this week, the public fallout of ill-fated MMO Ashes of Creation continued, this time with an alleged full breakdown of Intrepid Studios' expenses. It painted "a troubling picture of a company that was on the threshold of financial death at multiple points in its history," and revealed millions of dollars allegedly spent on dubious purchases. Sharif has disputed the claims. YouTuber NefasQS claimed to...
Capcom has forced a YouTuber to remove more than 1,000 "adult-orientated" mod videos showing Resident Evil Requiem characters in skimpy clothing. British streamer GrizzoUK reported being contacted by Resident Evil publisher Capcom's legal division, and told to pull down his videos or face further action. "It has come to our attention that these assets have been used to produce adult-orientated MODs, and that related videos have been created and published on YouTube," the company wrote in an email to GrizzoUK that he subsequently shared on a stream. Capcom stated that the mod videos were "inconsistent" with the company's Terms of Service, "as well as relevant copyright and intellectual property laws." In response, GrizzoUK questioned...
A version of Starfield for Nintendo Switch 2 has been leaked by the Taiwan ratings board, suggesting Bethesda's space RPG will land on the console. As spotted by Universonintendo, the listing shows a Switch 2 version of the game being approved for release just this week, though there's no mention yet of a formal release date. Starfield just touched down on PlayStation 5, nearly three years after its original arrival on PC and Xbox Series X/S. Billed as the next big franchise from the makers of The Elder Scrolls and Fallout, the space-based role-player has received a more muted response. Bethesda has since launched various updates to add fan-requested features, though recently played down the game's latest big update as not being a...
Between the ubiquitous virtual assistants cheerfully patronising us from almost every electronic device and the disposable slop that nobody asked for clogging up our social media feeds, it’s becoming pretty hard to escape artificial intelligence these days – but it could be worse: what if you had an AI actually implanted in your brain? Such is the premise of Replaced, a 2.5D action platformer that follows a scientist named Doctor Warren Marsh who’s on the run after a sentient AI called REACH is shoehorned into his skull. The twist here is that you don’t actually play as the scientist, you play as the AI that’s effectively puppeteering him – with your sole objective to return to the laboratory so you can unpair from your human host. It...
If you're planning out a PC build and have been hoping to get one of the new Nvidia Blackwell graphics cards at a reasonable price, this might be the best opportunity you'll get in the near future. Walmart is offering a retail boxed PNY GeForce RTX 5070 12GB graphics card for just $599 shipped. Mind you this is still $50 over MSRP, but it's the best price I can find right now for a standalone 5070 GPU and the first time I've seen this card drop below $600 this year. PNY GeForce RTX 5070 12GB OC Graphics Card for $599 The GeForce RTX 5070 GPU is an excellent choice for 1080p or 1440p gaming. Compared to the previous generation GPUs, the RTX 5070 offers a slight performance improvement over the RTX 4070 Super, which was and still is an...
It's no surprise why USB portable monitors are becoming so popular. They provide extra screen real estate for laptop users and they're much slimmer and lighter than your average monitor so you can carry them around. Many newer laptops now have USB ports that can power the monitor so that you don't even need to plug it into an outlet. Talk about convenience! For a limited time Amazon is offering the Anyuse 15.6" USB Portable Monitor for $39.99 with free shipping and no Prime membership required. It's sold by a marketplace vendor but it ships from Amazon (and customer service is handled by Amazon). This was actually our best selling portable USB monitor during the Amazon Spring Sale. In addition to boosting productivity on a laptop, the...
Take a look at an in-game cutscene featuring Lilith from Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred, the upcoming second expansion for Blizzard's popular action-RPG, in the video above. Lord of Hatred is our IGN First "cover story" for April, as we're dedicating time throughout the month to spotlighting different exclusive pieces of Lord of Hatred coverage. This newly revealed in-game cutscene will obviously fit within the story when you have the full Lord of Hatred expansion in front of you, but in the meantime you can take a look at it and get a sense of what's happening (or going to happen) surrounding Lilith's return. If you've missed any of our Lord of Hatred coverage so far, check out our narrative deep dive above as well as 21 minutes of...
Fortnite is adding microphone vocals to its Rock Band-like Festival mode, just in time for a new season featuring jazz pop star Laufey. The Madwoman singer will arrive in Fortnite tomorrow, April 16, at the start of the next Fortnite Festival season. Gameplay additions also arriving tomorrow will add the ability to sing along to any of the mode's many tracks using a compatible microphone on PC and console. That same update also adds a Pro Drums option, allowing you to plug in a Rock Band 4 or compatible MIDI drum kit. And in another helpful tweak, you'll now be able to move while jamming in other Fortnite modes — rather than being locked into place while playing an instrument. As ever, the new Fortnite Festival season comes with a...

It looks like Bungie's attempt to make Marathon a little more casual-friendly are helping. Marathon’s mid-season update is now live, including weapon adjustments, new Reward Pass additions, Runner shell tuning, earnable Arachne shell styles, new equipment, and more. It also introduced the CyberAcme Runner Reinforcement Initiative (C.A.R.R.I.), a "new protocol from ONI that rewards solo Runners and coordinated crews for completing contract objectives and exfiling together, with rewards tuned to help newer and mid-progression players while still offering benefits to the Cryo Archive-veterans that walk among us." Evidence of this is popping up all over the Marathon subreddit, with players sharing videos of friendly Runner encounters...
History buffs can reportedly look forward to multiple mythologies appearing in the next God of War from Sony Santa Monica. The unannounced game will feature elements from various mythologies rather than solely focusing on a single setting — such as the Greek and Norse sagas seen previously. That's according to a new report by MP1st, which specifically mentions Chinese and Japanese elements being in development. That same report also references online scuttlebutt over Mayan elements, too, though does not go on to verify this particular claim. Still, it sounds like there will be plenty going on in the next chapter of the God of War universe, which Sony is expected to unveil in the near future. Last month, notorious video game leaker...
Marty O'Donnell, the former video game composer known for his work on Halo and Destiny, has seen his latest bid for Congress endorsed by Donald Trump. Writing on X/Twitter last night, O'Donnell said he was "honored" to have Trump's support, following a social media post by the U.S. president which described the ex-Bungie composer as an "America First Patriot." O'Donnell's renewed bid to enter politics follows a failed attempt at the same Congressional seat back in 2024, which ended with him landing fourth place in its Republican primary. Long known for his conservative views, O'Donnell previously seemed dissatisfied with Trump, who he reportedly labelled as an "idiot" in a Twitter post back in 2016 and said he "loath[ed]" in 2017. "I...
Sony's PlayStation Plus games lineup for May 2026 has leaked online, led by Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. Reported by the ever-reliable billbil-kun from Dealabs, Sony's next batch of games will also include Ubisoft's The Crew Motorfest and Sports Interactive's Football Manager 26 Console. If you're yet to play the first Horizon title, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is the shinier PlayStation 5 version of Guerrilla Games' adventure, launched back in 2024. This includes its Frozen Wilds DLC plus various technical options and visual upgrades to make it look more like its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West. "Horizon Zero Dawn presents us with a beautiful world full of unforgettable challenges," IGN wrote in its review of the game's original...
Crimson Desert has now sold 5 million copies, marking a significant milestone less than a month after its release date. Pearl Abyss’ single-player open world action adventure launched on March 19 and sold 2 million copies in a day. It then hit 3 million sales in five days, and now, just over a week later, it reached 4 million. Now, it’s added another million on top, with no sign of slowing down. “Thank you to every Greymane who has joined us on this journey, experienced the world of Pywel, and supported the game,” Pearl Abyss said. “Reaching this milestone would not have been possible without your support and we are truly grateful.” Sentiment around Crimson Desert has improved significantly since launch, with Steam user reviews...
Starfield has seen “lukewarm” sales on PlayStation 5, according to one analyst, who is now questioning Microsoft’s strategy of releasing its games on PS5 after they’ve already come out on Xbox and PC. According to Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics, Starfield had sold 140,000 copies on PS5 as of a week after launch. Bethesda has yet to announce a sales figure for Starfield on PS5, or generally for that matter. The last we heard, in November 2024, Starfield had seen over 15 million players across all platforms. “While these would be decent numbers for many ports, it’s not fantastic for a port of the biggest Bethesda RPG in a decade (although launch-aligned, it's selling faster than other Xbox games that came to Xbox in the past six...
Crimson Desert has a high-profile fan: the director of The Witcher 3. Both games are single-player fantasy adventures, and while The Witcher 3 leans more heavily on story, character, and traditional RPG elements, Pearl Abyss and CD Projekt’s vast open worlds are often compared. Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the director of The Witcher 3 and former Cd Projekt executive, told The Game Business that Crimson Desert, alongside Sandfall Interactive’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, are “different.” “The problem in this industry sometimes is that people opening companies are thinking [too much] about how to make money,” Tomaszkiewicz said. “This is a really cold approach for the games. You cannot create art like this.” Tomaszkiewicz, who left CD...
Bungie has been sprinkling details of its massive patch 1.0.6 update for Marathon in the leadup to its release today, April 14. As an avid player of Bungie's sci-fi extraction shooter myself, I was keen on the revamp to Recon, which has been my main Shell since the pre-launch server slam. And this update goes beyond hotfixes with massive gameplay changes; only letting you attach one Claymore to Med-Drones, nerfing the beloved Bully SMG, and adding a bunch of new gear to work for is just scratching the surface. There are also a few changes that fundamentally wants players to rethink how they interact with each other. The in-game lore calls it C.A.R.R.I. (CyberAcme Runner Reinforcement Initiative), tying the CyberAcme faction to the...
