Doom creator John Romero and his studio, Romero Games, are working on a brand-new first-person shooter — one that will be utilizing Unreal Engine 5. What's more it will purportedly be with a "major publisher."
"It’s a new dawn for Romero Games. We’re working with a major publisher to develop John Romero’s next shooter: an all-new FPS with an original, new IP,” says Romero on Twitter. “Our team is expanding, and we’re looking for talented people for all positions and at all experience levels, particularly those with Unreal Engine 5 experience.”
According to the studio’s website, job positions fall under the code, design, and art categories. The listings provide some hints at what kind of mechanics the game could include. A senior...
Some games hide mystery in their titles, practically begging for every narrative thread to be pulled on to discover the secrets behind those words. PowerWash Simulator is not like this. Its direct name reveals that it is exactly what you think it is: the chance to live out your fantasy(?) as a water gun for hire, moving from job to job until all the dirt is blasted into oblivion. There's not a great deal of variety in such a career, and monotony can sink in, but a fundamentally simple yet satisfying style of gameplay provides a great way to chill out across numerous generously sized levels. Yes, it is just simulating the usually mundane act of hosing down your patio once a year, but PowerWash Simulator elevates itself above what could...
Stray, the new game from BlueTwelve Studio that puts you into the paws of a cat, introduces a beautiful sci-fi world. But it's all grounded by the fact that, as a cat, you can do some pretty normal cat things while playing Stray.
With that in mind, let's take a look at 10 totally normal cat things you can do in Stray. (No story spoilers here, but some of these cat behaviors are context sensitive to certain parts of Stray. If you want to go in and discover these gameplay mechanics fresh, turn back and return once you've played!)
1. Knock Things Over
One of Stray's earliest puzzles teaches you that it pays to be a bit of a nuisance by knocking cans of paint over to progress. But don't worry about just having to knock cans over with...
Stray, the new adventure game from BlueTwelve Studio, is now available for PS4, PS5, and PC. If you're a PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium subscriber, you'll receive Stray for no extra cost as part of your membership, and with the potential of a lot of players leaping into this cat-tastic journey, we know you may be wondering: how long is Stray?
With that in mind, we have four of IGN's team who have already beaten Stray on hand paw to offer up how long Stray took them to beat. We've got perspectives from those who simply tried to beat Stray's main adventure, others who were looking to 100%, and even others who have gotten into speedrunning it. Read on for a breakdown of how long Stray took all of us to beat, and if you want more, be...
The first images from Yakuza 8 have appeared online, revealing that various characters will be returning from previous entry Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
As reported by Famitsu, a behind the scenes video from YouTuber and MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura gave a tour of developer Ryu Ga Gotoku's studio, alongside a brief look at Like a Dragon heroes Ichiban Kasuga, Koichi Adachi, and Yu Nanba in the new game (below).
Yakuza 8 will reportedly be set in a new town, and we also learned that Asakura himself would be appearing as a character in the game. Kasuga has also had somewhat of a makeover, seemingly now appearing with his hair tied back instead of in his iconic wild hairdo.
This is the first proper piece of information we've had about Yakuza...
The showrunner of Netflix's Resident Evil series wants to introduce a live-action version of fan-favorite villain Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village if the show is renewed.
Speaking to Polygon, Andrew Dabb said he wants to bring in as many iconic characters from the game series as possible, including enemies from anywhere between the first and latest entries.
"Over the course of the series, I want to bring everything in," he said. "Left to my own devices, I want Lady D, I want the plant monster, I want it all. I want everything, but judiciously [and] responsibly over time."
Given that the show follows two timelines (one before and one deep into the apocalypse), Dabb said he wants to explore how these video game characters...
There's never been a better time to cast off normal reality for the virtual. I say scoop up some motion controllers, slap that fandangle bucket on your head and score (among others) Pavlov, Half-life Alyx and Boneworks. TV-based folk should look to invest in a cheap copy of Horizon Forbidden West, the underrated New Pokémon Snap and a sub-fiddy Spider-Man on PS4.

Grounded is joining the growing list of video games that are getting television and movie adaptations. Deadline reports that a Grounded animated series in the works from developer Obsidian Entertainment, Xbox, Waterproof Studios/SC Productions, Kinetic Media and Bardel Entertainment.
Developed by Obsidian, Grounded is an online cooperative multiplayer game that focuses on kids who have been shrunken down to the size of insects. The kids have to work together to survive all of the horrors found in the backyard, including spiders, ants, and other creatures. After nearly 16 years, Star Wars: The Old Republic creative director Charles Boyd is leaving BioWare.
Boyd has been with Star Wars: The Old Republic for its over 10-year run, but he was also very much part of the team who helped bring it to life. According to Wookiepedia, Boyd joined BioWare in 2006 and was part of a team of writers who help build the foundation of the Star Wars MMO.
His team was led by Daniel Erickson, and Boyd helped create the story for the Trooper class among other things. After Erickson left in 2012, Boyd became a lead writer alongside Hall Hood, and they worked together on the Rise of the Hutt Cartel story. He would continue on to work on many other expansions and would officially become creative director in...
Silent protagonists are nothing new in video games, but Stray certainly pushes that concept to an interesting place. Part platformer, part traditional adventure game, this cyberpunk world full of neon-soaked robots transforms into a giant jungle gym from your perspective, which is just one foot off the ground. The concept of putting you in the paws of an average cat may be a silly one on the surface, but Stray uses that furry vehicle to tell a genuinely compelling story with some entertaining action along the way. Not all of its ideas land on their feet, but it was impossible to shake the fuzzy feeling it gave me right from the adorable opening minutes.
To be clear: you’re not a magic cat, not a mutated sci-fi cat, not some kind of...
At first glance, Two Rock, Arizona is merely a backwater town occupied by little more than tumbleweed and a few rows of houses. But very little is as it first appears, and all it takes to reveal As Dusk Falls’ many layers of storytelling depth is one small, decades-spanning tragedy. And it’s all about the story, since this is a choose-your-own-adventure-style graphic novel that cleverly pulls ideas from games like Telltale’s The Walking Dead series and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. Each member of this voice-acting cast of unique and interesting characters has their own, often conflicting emotional stakes that accelerate the story in seemingly hundreds of logical and intelligently connected directions. Through the powerful and often...
Another new AAA studio has joined the gaming scene, this one founded by Jerry Hook, one of the architects of the original Xbox who most recently worked on Halo Infinite.
The new studio's mission is to "create a new generation of narrative-driven action games" with "immersive worlds." Its founding members include Paul Crocker, who served as lead narrative director on the Batman: Arkham trilogy; Greg Stone, who produced DOOM (2016), and Steve Dyck, who worked on SSX, NBA Street, and the Halo series. Hook's new venture follows his departure from 343 Industries, where he served head of design on Halo Infinite. Hook also helped launch Xbox Live and worked on Halo 4, Halo 5, and Destiny in various capacities.

Those heady Amazon Prime Days may be behind us, but there are still tons of savings to be had. The biggest news of late last week is the sudden influx of cheap avenues for the God of War Ragnarok Launch edition. (I wish I could say there were opportunities to nab Collector's or Jotnar Editions, but there simply isn't.) That's pretty annoying, but it's hard to feel angry at the world now that there's a LEGO set announced for The Office. I'm "pretzel day" levels of happy right now.

It’s the first alternate costume for the four-star princess of darkness, though you need to jump through some hoops and hunt down elusive items before you can claim it.
The Fischl skin is part of an event under the Summer Fantasia umbrella, which means you need to meet the requirements to start Summertime Odyssey if you want a chance at the skin. These include:
Reaching Adventure Rank 32 or higher
Completing Mona’s story quest (normally requires Adventure Rank 40, but during the event, HoYoverse is lowering the AR level to 32)

While The Sims series has always allowed players' characters to romance Sims of the same gender, players have never been able to designate sexual and romantic attractions for their Sims. An upcoming update to The Sims 4, however, is set to change that for the first time.
Today, Maxis announced a sexual orientation feature for the game's Create A Sim screen, which will roll out in the next free base game update alongside the High School Years Expansion Pack.
The feature, which appears as a menu next to the gender options, allows players to customize three aspects of their Sims' orientations: what genders their Sim is romantically attracted to, if their Sim might be interested in exploring attraction to other genders, and what genders...
After a long wait, Halo fans can finally try out Halo Infinite's campaign in co-op with the game's new beta. Today, the official Halo Twitter account announced the beta's launch, saying you can squad up with your friends to take on the Banished together on Zeta Halo.
The beta also includes a feature many Halo fans wanted in Infinite's campaign: Mission Replay. In Halo Infinite, once you complete a mission, there was no way to return to it later for Skull hunting, or just for fun. In the beta, 343 has implemented a system through the game's map to replay missions you've already completed.
As we learned a couple weeks back, the beta includes Halo Infinite's entire campaign, and the beta is available to all Xbox Game Pass subscribers...
In a major change to its roadmap, Microsoft is returning to its three-year plan for new Windows upgrades. The new plan means we might see Windows 12 as early as 2024.
According to a report by Windows Central, Microsoft's new roadmap means new versions of Windows will ship every three years.
In the past, Microsoft has also taken its time with new versions of the operating system — Windows 10 was released in 2015, and Windows 11 wasn't released until six years after in 2021. During this time, Microsoft shifted away from its initial three-year plan and instead focused on delivering consistent updates to Windows 10.
Its new plan also means that new features for existing Windows versions will ship more often. As detailed by Windows...

According to The NPD Group, Elden Ring was not only the best-selling game of June 2022 and the first half of this year, but it has also become one of the top 10 best-selling premium games in terms of dollar sales in U.S. history.
The news was shared by The NPD Group's Mat Piscatella and, while it wasn't revealed where it places on that list, he did confirm more impressive facts for FromSoftware's latest game.
Alongside placing first in dollar sales in four of its first five months on the market, it is also the best-selling game in the past 12 months, even surpassing Call of Duty: Vanguard.
The last time Bandai Namco revealed sales figures for Elden Ring was in May 2022, saying that the game sold 13.4 million copies in its first...
EA is officially removing BioWare Points as a form of currency in the Origin Store on PC. To make up for it, EA is now offering most DLC from Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 to all players for free.
The news was shared on Reddit from those like AircraftSam89 who received an e-mail from EA stating that these BioWare Points would be no more, and EA confirmed to IGN that they will indeed be gone from the Origin Store on October 11, 2022.
For those unfamiliar, BioWare Points were a form of currency players could purchase from EA on the Origin Store to purchase in-game content packs. BioWare Points were more prevalent during the days of the previously mentioned games, but EA stopped using them for...
It’s a war waged since the beginning of the 3D graphics on gaming PCs. ATI and Nvidia went toe-to-toe through the 1990s and early 2000s. Nvidia won that fight, but ATI received a second chance when AMD acquired the company in 2006. The battle has continued since.
Choosing between AMD and Nvidia can seem confusing at a glance, but one has several key advantages over its competitor. Here’s how AMD and Nvidia compare.
We compare AMD vs. Nvidia with the following in mind:
General Gaming Performance
Ray Tracing Performance
Gaming Laptop Performance
Upscaling (FSR vs. DLSS)
Adaptive Sync (FreeSync vs. G-Sync)
AMD vs. Nvidia – General Gaming Performance
Pitting AMD against Nvidia in general game performance is difficult because of the...
Stray is already promising plenty of feline hijinks and cuteness when it launches next week, but Travel Cat is ensuring that your own cat can get in on the fun with some real-life branded cat travel items – a Stray-themed backpack and a harness modeled after the one worn by the game's four-legged protagonist.
The bubble backpack, which can hold up to a 25lb cat, sports a colorful design and a Stray patch on one side. The bubble in the center allows your fluffy pal to get a good look at their surroundings while you're doing all the walking and they're doing what they do best – being lazy.
Meanwhile, the harness is a direct replica of the black and white one worn by the cat in Stray, though the listing states that it doesn't come with...

Alongside Full Circle revealing that Skate 4 is officially called skate., the studio also confirmed that the game will be free-to-play on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC and that it will have cross-play and cross-progression support.
The news was shared via Full Circle's The Board Room update, and the team also confirmed that skate. will take place in San Vansterdam, which is a sister city of sorts to Skate and Skate 2's San Vanelona.
It also explained why it chose to go with the name skate. as opposed to Skate 4, saying this is not a sequel or reboot or remake but a new platform that will be built upon for years to come. This means fans shouldn't expect a Skate 5 or 10, but should instead look forward to a skateboarding game that will...
