It’s been five years since Skull and Bones was first revealed and the wait is almost over. Inspired by the naval warfare of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Ubisoft’s latest sees players take to the seas in a new open-world adventure, refreshing these mechanics inside an original setting. However, it’s not been the smoothest ride […]

Gotham Knights will allow players to co-op as the same character – but that doesn't necessarily mean they'll be doing the same things. Our latest IGN First drop shows gameplay of two versions of Red Hood with very different builds.
In the video, above, you'll see game director Geoff Ellenor explaining that using the game's multiple skill trees will allow players to create a range of playstyles for their chosen superheroes. In this case, Red Hood has been specced in two ways, with a focus on his Marksman and Brawler skill trees respectively.
The result is a version of the character who gains bonuses for using his nonlethal pistols at long range, and another built to grapple enemies and bring even the largest foes down with ease...
Final Fantasy 7 Remake's famous Honeybee Inn dance sequence took longer to prepare than any other scene in the game, according to co-director Motomu Toriyama.
In a Square Enix blog post, Toriyama explained that the sensitive nature of the original Final Fantasy 7 scene from 1997 - which saw protagonist Cloud crossdress in order to infiltrate a seedy playboy's mansion - alongside the intricacy of the dance sequence itself, led to an incredibly lengthy preparation time.
"We had decided to change the original FFVII's Honeybee Inn episode from a gender free perspective right from the start of development," Toriyama said. "We remade the whole scene as a song and dance show, in order to make it the big stage for Cloud's crossdressing event...
IGN can exclusively reveal Bloody Hell Hotel, a game that sees you playing a vampire setting up a hotel business, then feasting on the guests (not to mention farming, dungeon crawling, and more).
Led by Wlad Marhulets (creator of indie horror Darq) and backed by talent with experience on the likes of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Baldur's Gate 3 and Disney movies, the team is aiming to make "the most ambitious first-person simulation game in existence." Think of it as a first-person Stardew Valley... except you can eat all the villagers.
You can check out a reveal trailer below:
It's certainly a unique pitch. The game casts you as a vampire who has awoken from a centuries-long coma, finding their once-grand estate in ruins. You're...

Dark Horse has another wave of Witcher figures in the works. But whereas the most recent batch was inspired the Netflix series, this new trio of collectibles is based on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Check out the slideshow gallery below for a closer look at these three new figures, featuring Geralt of Rivia in his Toussaint Tourney armor, his nemesis Imlerith and his mentor Vesemir:
As with the previous Witcher releases, these aren't technically figures so much as PVC statues. Each one measures between 7.75 and 9 inches tall, depending on the pose, and all come with a 1.5-inch display base. The Imlerith figure also includes an alternate head piece, allowing you to display him either masked or unmasked.
The Geralt and Vesemir figures...
“If you want to enlarge someone's head so it's as big as the world and now you can't see what you're doing anymore,” says Sebastian Eriksson, CEO & Game Designer at Coffee Stain North, “it's your choice. Do it if you want to!”
That sentence should give you a pretty good idea of where the Goat Simulator 3 team’s (impossibly gigantic) heads are at when it comes to this long-awaited, somewhat surprising sequel. ("We thought that we had made Goat Simulator 2, so we decided to name it 3, but when we realised that we haven't done 2, it was too late. And here we are," deadpans Creative Director Santiago Ferrero during a panel on the game at BitSummit.)
Just like the original, anarchic fun is set to be the order of the day, but where that...

Chances are good that the speakers built-in to your gaming laptop or PC monitor (if it even has speakers) aren’t pumping quality sound. If you’re playing games where sound cues mean life or death, rocking out to an album meant to get your heart thumping, or editing the audio on your latest YouTube video, you want a rich, dynamic sound to help make the most of your listening experience. That’s where computer speakers come in handy, blowing the built-in speakers on your devices out of the water.
With computer speakers, you often get a woofer and tweeter providing a full range of audio frequencies, which built-ins and headsets can’t offer. There are a plethora of options out there with a variety of features. Some speakers focus on...

Microids has released the first gameplay of the XIII remaster's remaster as it attempts to right the wrongs of the original's disastrous launch.
Three minutes of the SPADS Military Base sequence was released (below) giving fans a proper look (and listen) at the reimagined art style plus new HUD, sound design, and enhanced A.I.
The new footage certainly appears more connected to the original PlayStation 2 and GameCube game, bringing back a more cartoon-like art style that fans called for following the release of the first remaster. This 2020 version featured a more cell-shaded design blended with realism that was criticized for departing from XIII's graphic novel roots.
This new version - which will be available as a free update on...
Kratos’ journey into the mysteries of a new Norse world in 2018’s God of War takes both him and players to fantastical realms, pits us against mythical beasts, and introduces an epic cast. But at the heart of it all is Kratos’ relationship to his son Atreus. Learning what kind of father he should be in contrast to the person he was, and what kind of man he wants to raise Atreus to be, echoes in every step of his journey.
So it’s no surprise that one of Kratos’ most challenging moments comes when Atreus grows sick, and the only answer to his salvation lies in Helheim, where no known fire in the nine realms will burn. Kratos, of course, knows of a fire from another realm he can draw from, and in one incredible sequence we see him dig up...
A new Lord of the Rings game is on its way from Weta Workshop and Private Division, set as part of the literary universe, rather than that of the films.
Announced today via Twitter, the upcoming game takes place in Middle-earth, with Weta, who worked on the original Peter Jackson movies as well as Amazon’s The Rings of Power, teaming up with Take-Two’s Private Division publishing label.
“We’re thrilled to announce that we have partnered with Weta Workshop to publish a new game set in the literary Middle-earth universe of J.R.R. Tolkien,” revealed Private Division. “We look forward to sharing more about the project in the future.”
The untitled game, which is said to be in early development, is on its way sometime in 2024. However...
Marvel's Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games appeared to once have plans to include a multiplayer mode within the hit 2018 game.
As reported by PC Gamer, Twitter user @dniwetamp found various mentions of multiplayer within the files of Spider-Man's recent PC remaster, though it's unclear at what stage of development this mode was it.
In the tweet (below), the files reference what appears to be a competitive mode where two players, playing as Peter Parker and Miles Morales, would compete to be the "Superior Spider-Man". What's called the "winner message" reads either as "Peter Parker is the Superior Spider-Man" or "Miles Morales is the Superior Spider-Man".
More explicitly, further files listed under a multiplayer menu list Player...
Spider-Man Remastered's PC release has proved successful for Sony, becoming the second biggest PlayStation Studios Steam launch so far, falling only behind God of War.
As reported by Eurogamer, Spider-Man's release on Steam has outperformed Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone, reaching an all-time peak of 66,436 players according to SteamDB. God of War's PC debut saw an all-time peak of 73,529 players, while Zero Dawn and Days Gone achieved 56,557 and 27,450 respectively.
It's a good sign for PlayStation's move into PC publishing. Sony has recently purchased PC porting specialist Nixxes and established a new PlayStation PC label as part of a push to move the company's much-love exclusives to Steam. The company expects to make $300...
A new MultiVersus advert hints at two new additions – Black Adam and Stripe from Gremlins.
The advert, which has been shared across social media, shows off some new artwork for the hit online platform fighter, with DC’s Black Adam and the iconic Stripe from Gremlins appearing as part of the game’s line-up.
To date, neither of these characters has been confirmed by MultiVersus developers.
A recently leaked roster of upcoming characters mentioned both Black Adam and Stripe, which now gives a certain legitimacy to the rest of the list. Black Adam is about to make his big screen debut in the upcoming solo film starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the titular DC antihero.
Meanwhile, Stripe was the main antagonist from the first...
Squirrel With a Gun is an upcoming Steam game built in Unreal Engine 5 that has taken the internet by storm because it stars a squirrel with... well... a gun.
Squirrel with a Gun is being developed by Dan DeEntremont, and early footage of the game showcases the titular squirrel running through a town with normal-sized guns chasing unsuspecting people and taking down Agents using various weapons.
The game will also let you parry attacks to disarm enemies and use the recoil of the guns to fly through the air and cross big gaps you wouldn't be able to cross with your squirrel skills alone. If you are feeling extra mischievous, you can even rob the residents of your neighborhood of their phones, cake, and more.
Squirrel With a Gun's...
Let's break the seal on this week in style with some bargains. A few discounts that have caught my beady eye include an optimal Prime price on LEGO Optimus Prime. Xboxers ought to acquire the Middle-earth Shadow Bundle (two games with the utterly orc-some Nemesis system). Lastly, sportsballers should invest in the cheapest prices I've seen for FIFA 23 and NBA2K23. The latter features MJ challenges, and a dedicated 'Take That Personal' button which increases your stats 6000%. (No, not really.)

Modder Kashiiera has created a wonderful new mod that replaces Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima with Halo's Master Chief and the Arbiter.
As reported by Eurogamer, the mod in question - Master Chief From Halo 3 - is available on NexusMods for anyone to try, and it allows you to play through the entirety of Yakuza 0 as Master Chief Petty Officer John-117, one of the most iconic figures in gaming.
Kashiiera shared a bunch of clips of the mod in action on Twitter, and it not only shows Master Chief fighting his way through Kamurocho instead of Kazuma Kiryu, but one especially delightful video shows Master Chief and the Arbiter dancing to Friday Night instead of Kiryu and Majima.
The Arbiter can also be seen fighting in the streets of...
Following PUBG: Battlegrounds officially going free-to-play on January 12, 2022, parent company Krafton has revealed that it has consistently seen a "steady inflow of more than 80,000 new users per day."
The figures were detailed in Krafton's preliminary earnings announcement for the first half of 2022, where it also shared that "average revenue per user (ARPU) across all platforms increased more than 20% QoQ." It also noted that international markets outside of South Korea accounted for 94% of PUBG's revenue during Q2 2022.
PUBG Mobile has also been performing well for Krafton, as it currently ranks "second in sales among global mobile games" and helped drive the company's mobile business revenue to $550.7 million.
The earnings...
In the opening moments of Obscurant, I don’t immediately understand why what seems to be a typical top-down adventure game is placed on a grid. Why every step the android-like, amnesiac protagonist takes through the desolate sand of the first desert area feels laborious and rhythmic, as if they have to pause and think before each one.
Then, I meet the “Little Round Guys.”
They are strange, robotic little creatures, not unlike the most basic machine enemies in Nier: Automata in shape. They walk back and forth in a pattern – two steps in one direction, then back two steps the way they came, then repeat. After a few cycles of this, they pause in the middle of their path to recharge for five beats, before lighting up again and resuming...
