Blizzard has made clear that Diablo IV will not include lootboxes and, like Overwatch before it, will instead offer Battle Passes and cosmetics through an in-game store.
Announced during its latest development update, Blizzard confirmed Diablo IV will be a full-price game and, while players can spend money if they want to, "you will not be able to pay for power".
Post-launch content will instead be structured around Seasons that will rotate every three months, with each new season feeling like a fresh start for players. The Season Journey model from Diablo III will return, a free progression system that lets players earn rewards by completing challenges, and Blizzard will also offer a more traditional seasonal battle pass too...

Bethesda had fans excited for a Starfield announcement at Gamescom next week... but may have made a mistake, as it subtly removed a mention of the game on its website.
As reported by Eurogamer, a Bethesda blog post outlining the company's plans for Gamescom told fans that both upcoming games would have gameplay on show. "Come see Redfall and Starfield gameplay and get your hands on Fallout 76 while you're there," the post said. "We also have a few surprises and goodies in store for you."
However, after fans started pointing out the mention, this portion of the blog post has been removed entirely. It may be that Xbox will simply be screening the existing gameplay revealed earlier this summer - or it may be a total mistake.
All that...

Activision has announced that the fifth and final season of Call of Duty: Warzone will begin on August 24, implying the release of Warzone 2 could be right around the corner.
Announced on the game's website, the final season is named Last Stand and is centred around a league of Call of Duty villains led by Black Ops 2's Raul Menendez. The original Modern Warfare's Khaled Al-Asad also makes an appearance, alongside Ghosts' Gabriel T. Rorke and Black Ops 3's He “Seraph” Zhen-Zhen.
Call of Duty seasons - which takes place simultaneously across Warzone and Vanguard - typically last around two to three months, meaning this final season of Warzone will likely end in November.
Black Ops: Cold War's final season continued for around one...
Router blues got you – or, more accurately, your internet connectivity – down? We’ve all been there. Especially if your router is serving a massive area, like a large home or a big office, it might not be able to beam its signal across the whole space. If you’ve got a perfectly good router, it might not be necessary for you to replace it despite its somewhat limited coverage. That’s exactly the connectivity conundrum for which the best Wi-Fi extenders are made.
Wi-Fi range extenders, as the name suggests, are designed to boost your Wi-Fi signal beyond your existing router’s reach. They are a much simpler plug-and-play solution, especially for folks who aren’t well-versed in network connectivity.
However, it’s essential to know that...
After a long period out of the public eye in North America, Sunsoft is returning to publish three new games based on its classic games catalogue. They include Ikki Unite, a multiplayer co-op roguelike; the return of Gimmick, a classic NES platformer; and Ufouria, a metroidvania expected to hit consoles in 2023.
The releases are part of a new strategy by Sunsoft, which will see it lean on its large catalogue of classic games to capitalize on the popularity of retro gaming.
"The revival of original game porting to game consoles is a big part of our strategy," Sunsoft general manager Yuichi Ochi tells IGN. "We have a plan to bring our original title to current consoles, two or three titles a year."
The most notable of them is Ikki...
Five years after its original release, Quake Champions is finally out of early acccess. The full release of id Software's free-to-play shooter coincides with several games arriving on PC Game Pass, which was announced during Bethesda's QuakeCon event earlier today.
First released back in 2017, Quake Champions is an evolution of id Software's classic arena shooter. Asked why it didn't receive a full release when it went free-to-play in 2018, community developer Joshua Boyle said Quake Champions wasn't ready.
"I'd say we were at a crawl [at launch last year] and we're at a walk now," Boyle said at the time.
Quake Champions has enjoyed mostly positive reviews on Steam, but it has generally failed to take hold among fans in a manner...
Arkane Austin has revealed that Redfall will feature a number of powerful bosses known as “vampire gods” that have trapped you in the Massachusetts town.
Speaking as part of the ‘Bringing Redfall to Life’ panel at Quakecon 2022, members of Arkane explained that the vampires in its upcoming open world game are not produced by a virus, but are instead the product of a biotech company. Aevum Laboratories came to the town of Redfall to research life extension and eventually created vampires.
Each and every vampire in the game has chosen to take Aevum’s technology, transforming into a blood dependent being in the name of living forever. But the ones that take Aevum’s technology to its very limits become supremely powerful monsters that...
Arkane has revealed that just one section of Redfall’s map is bigger in size than the entirety of Talos I, the space station setting of Prey.
Speaking as part of the ‘Bringing Redfall to Life’ panel at Quakecon 2022, Redfall’s art director, Karen Segars, said: “The Talos in Prey was five football fields. The size of Redfall is kinda ‘hold my beer’ on that one.”
To help explain just how large the Redfall open world is, Arkane Austin’s studio director, Harvey Smith, recalled a fun moment from earlier in development. “Jim McGill took Talos at scale and dropped it in the middle of the farm that’s [in Redfall’s second district area]. And the district just eats the whole space station, of course. It’s gigantic.”
“It was just the size of...
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, the upcoming four versus one game from Friday the 13th and Predator: Hunting Grounds developer IllFonic, will be released on October 18.
Preorders are also now live for all versions of Spirits Unleashed - PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via the Epic Games Store. Illfonic has teased that further information is coming next week at Gamescom. Preordering digitally will grant players advance access to Slimer, a custom Particle Thrower and Proton Pack, and special clothing colourways.
“The reaction from fans of Ghostbusters has blown us away,” said Charles Brungardt, CEO of IllFonic. “Putting a date on and opening up preorders for Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed feels like an out of...
Fortnite’s latest update added Dragon Ball’s Kamehameha, and it’s absolutely everywhere. Goku’s signature finishing move has been added to Fortnite along with plenty of other Dragon Ball goodies, including the Nimbus Cloud and a load of incredible, cel-shaded skins.
But honestly, the Kamehameha is all anyone cares about… and for good reason.
Nope, you weren’t seeing things – that’s an entire squad unloading FOUR Kamehamehas onto their poor, unsuspecting victim to clinch the win in spectacular fashion. And with Goku’s move absolutely everywhere right now, you’ll be seeing plenty of moments like that in Fortnite for a while.
The Dragon Ball update adds a ton of new quests, allowing you to power up your ki with new emotes or even...
Activision has been accused of plagiarism for the second time this month after adding a skin to Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone that looks similar to a character from an ex-Infinity Ward director's new game.
As reported by Metro, Call of Duty's new Doomsayer skin has been likened to a character design from Deadrop, the upcoming game from Dr Disrespect's (otherwise known as Guy Beahm) studio Midnight Society.
Robert Bowling, a co-founder alongside Beahm and the former director of Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward, uses the character as his Twitter profile picture and posted about the new skin: "At least name it after me."
Activision hasn't released a statement regarding the plagiarism accusations as of yet, but its response to...
Dead by Daylight developers Behaviour Interactive gave us an extended look at what they’re cooking up next, and it couldn’t be anymore different. Meet Your Maker is set in a sort-of rustpunk post-apocalypse where the last survivors of the human race shoot and slice each other to get their hands on the most precious resource imaginable: pure genetic material. The setting is maybe the most mundane thing about this game though. Design-wise, it hopes to blend two seemingly incongruent genres to make a truly unique online experience.
Meet Your Maker is really two sub-games in one: a base-builder and speedy dungeon shooter. In the first bit, you build your outpost full of winding paths and traps like bomb ejectors and spiked walls to keep...
Activision is releasing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's single-player campaign more than a week early to those who digitally preorder the game.
Announced on the Call of Duty website, the promotion offers unrestricted access to Modern Warfare 2's campaign from October 20, well ahead of the official October 28 release date.
The early access is available through any digital preoder of the game, meaning on PS4 and PS5 through the PlayStation Store, on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S through the Microsoft Store, and on PC through either Steam or Battle.net.
Preordering also grants PlayStation users access to two different beta weekends in September (and just one for other platforms) and a handful of skins to be used in last year's Call of...
EA accidentally listed its $99.99 FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition for the equivalent of six cents on the Indian Epic Games Store, and the publisher will actually honor the price for those who bought it quickly enough.
As reported by PC Gamer, the mistake - which resulted in a 99.98% discount on the unreleased game - was quickly taken down, but not before several people were able to purchase it and share their elation on Twitter.
Taking it on the chin, EA emailed each Epic Games Store user who did so and admitted its blunder before confirming that it won't demand the correct amount.
"A few weeks back, we scored a pretty spectacular own-goal when we inadvertently offered FIFA 23 pre-purchase on the Epic Games Store at an incorrect price,"...
The power supply unit (PSU) is the heart of every PC. It takes AC power from the wall and converts it to low-voltage DC power, which then goes on to power all your components. So if you want reliable, steady power to your motherboard, CPU, RAM, graphics cards, drives, fans, (and of course!) RGB lights, you need to get a good power supply. If you don't you'll quickly run into stability problems and your PC will randomly shut down.
Like everything else about building a PC, there's a lot to consider when picking your rig's power plant. From wattage and efficiency to modularity, there's a lot to think about here, and lucky for you we've done all the research already. From the affordable option to absolute powerhouses able to run two...
Startup developer Bonsai Collective has announced Luna Abyss, a new story-driven bullet-hell FPS set in the depths of a mysterious planet. Bonsai promises "an arsenal of weapons and advanced mobility and traversal mechanics" for players. Luna Abyss is in development for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms. Watch the announcement trailer above and check out the first screenshots in the gallery below.
“In the prison atop the Abyss, your one companion is Aylin, an artificial prison sentry watching your every move," Bonsai told us. "She sends convicts deep below for reconnaissance, extraction, and investigation of the collapse. We can’t wait to see what players make of this mysterious world.”
Bonsai also says that "you will be...
It’s always a shame when a game manages to get some things so right but others so wrong. OverBorder Studios’ third-person fantasy RPG Thymesia is a prime example of this, with satisfying, high-energy combat that rewards patience and a familiarity with its admittedly narrow progression systems immediately standing out as something special. At the same time, its twisting tale about a plague-torn kingdom and the secret agent that can save it, as well as the inconsistent quality of the exotic locations it takes place across, are largely half-baked and render the entire adventure easily forgettable.
Thymesia’s story follows Corvus, a generic but well-dressed royal operative who’s had his brain scrambled like a breakfast egg. That’s likely...

Final Fantasy producer Naoki Yoshida thinks revolutionary leaps in the video game industry are on the horizon.
Speaking to Insider, Yoshida said the next decade could see revolutionary gaming experiences due to the development of new devices, citing virtual reality chips as an example. In fact, Yoshida expected things to move a bit quicker than they have, but said the semiconductor shortage is likely to blame.
“This would dramatically increase server performance and elements that could be simulated," Yoshida said. "That could lead to the creation of a living world that resembles reality, or even new ideas that create an actual online world. There is the possibility that game development styles will drastically change and culminate in...
Despite critical praise and commercial success for recent projects like Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantasy VII Remake, series producer Naoki Yoshida has higher hopes for the franchise. Specifically, Yoshida thinks the series has some catching up to do with the rest of the industry.
“In terms of whether Final Fantasy is successfully adapting to industry trends, I believe the series is currently struggling," Yoshida told Inverse. "We’re now at a point where we receive a wide variety of requests regarding the direction of our game design. To be honest, it’d be impossible to satisfy all those requests with a single title. My current impression is that all we can really do is create multiple games, and continue creating the best that we...
Xbox's official PC Game Pass Twitter account may be teasing the arrival of Death Stranding on PC Game Pass.
Earlier today, the account changed its profile picture to a foggy landscape featuring grassy hills and rocks. After changing the photo, the account posted, saying, "sometimes we just like a good landscape picture #NewProfilePic".
This afternoon, some eagle-eyed fans believe they've already uncovered the location within Death Stranding that the new profile picture was taken from, with user @naven0m posting the area in a reply... along with an image from the game of Sam Bridges urinating.
Most seem to agree that this is the correct location featured in the profile picture, meaning PC Game Pass is likely teasing a Death...
Much of the joy from any good battle royale is derived from the feeling of making big plays, and hoo boy! If there’s one thing that Rumbleverse is good at, it’s setting you up for opportunities for big plays. The latest from Iron Galaxy Studios (the developers of Divekick and seasons 2 and 3 of Killer Instinct) Rumbleverse is a free-to-play, melee-driven battle royale with a very Fortnite’y, but nonetheless charming cartoony artstyle, infused with all of the pomp and grandeur of professional wrestling. One moment you’ll be Irish-Whipping an opponent into a wall for a brutal wall combo, the next you’ll be chokeslamming bodies off of skyscrapers, and occasionally giant-swinging them into the ocean. It’s silly fun at its best, and while...
Xbox has revealed the Game Pass lineup for August 2022, and it includes open-world adventures, indie darlings, and more.
First up, Coffee Talk is available today. The game is a talking simulator about listening to the stories of an alternative Seattle's citizens. The game is available on console, cloud, and PC today.
On August 30, Game Pass subscribers will have access to Ubisoft's Immortals Fenyx Rising, an open-world adventure that puts players in the shoes of Fenyx, a winged demigod on a quest to save the Greek gods. We awarded the game a 7 in our review, saying, "Its combat is satisfying, with plenty of choice in upgrades, while its central characters, comedic tone, and storytelling are a real highlight."
There's plenty more on...
Overwatch 2 will include cross-progression across all formats. Starting today, you'll be able to merge console and PC accounts from the original game, carrying all your collected progression with you to the new version.
Overwatch 2 will essentially replace the original Overwatch when the game is launched on October 4, 2022. The game will feature cross-progrssion across all formats, and Activision Blizzard has announced that you will be able to merge multiple accounts to bring across your existing Overwatch progression into the sequel.
“With the launch of cross-progression, players can merge multiple Overwatch accounts to carry progression and in-game cosmetics into Overwatch 2 on a single profile,” said an official statement...
If you want to learn everything you need to know about Thymesia, then you’re in the right place. Thymesia is the latest game to take on the genre of Soulslikes, but this one’s clearly aiming more for a Bloodborne and Sekiro feel than it is Dark Souls. As we’ve not had many games attempt that […]

After THQ Nordic and porting studio Black Forest Games breathed new life into the first Destroy All Humans! title, it perhaps came as little surprise that two would unite once more to bring Destroy All Humans! 2 to an all-new audience in the form of Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed. Destiny 2 is so massive that you’d need a good expansion list just to see how far it’s come. It’s only made more complex by things like going free-to-play, but not completely, having content locked away and then unlocked, and also whatever is going on with Eris Morn, everyone’s favourite goth space wizard. Thankfully, if […]
