The Day Before developer Fntastic has insisted the game's Steam page, which was removed in January over a trademark dispute, will be back online soon. Speaking to Well Played, Fntastic claimed it was "the first to start using this name related to the video game" and said it's "optimistic about regaining our name through legal proceedings as swiftly as possible". Though it didn't give a timeline for this, despite The Day Before set to launch in just five months on November 10, Fntastic said the "Steam page will be reinstated soon". The Day Before was removed from Steam after the developers of a 2010 countdown app of the same name found out about the video game. Fntastic postponed The Day Before's release date as a result of the...
Doug Cockle, the actor who portrayed Geralt of Rivera in The Witcher series of video games, has revealed he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer in a move to raise awareness of the life-threatening disease. The news prompted an outpouring of support from industry professionals and fans alike. “I had no idea,” wrote Cockle in response to a tweet from charity Prostate Cancer UK. “Random check and Boom… I have full blown prostate cancer. Treatment ongoing but looking good so far. Men over 50… get a PSA test… just in case.” Industry peers and friends were quick to wish the actor a speedy recovery, and express gratitude to him for sharing his diagnosis. ”Sending our best wishes! We know you can beat this, witcher,” commented the...
Magic: The Gathering's upcoming Lord of the Rings expansion includes a one-of-a-kind One Ring card that collectors are already willing to pay $1 million for. Trading card buying and collecting company Dave and Adam's Card World has issued an unprecedented $1 million bounty for the special One Ring card, doubling the $500,000 offered by fellow collector and investor Cassius Marsh Sr. Announcing their $1 million bounty on Twitter (below), if this amount is actually paid for the One Ring it will easily become the most expensive and sought after Magic: The Gathering card of all time. The record is currently held by a Beta set Black Lotus which sold for $540,000 in March. There are caveats, however, that don't guarantee the One Ring...
Diablo 4 is Blizzard’s fastest-selling game, but one customer can’t play it. That customer is Oscar-winning Ghost actress Whoopi Goldberg, who said she bought the action role-playing game thinking she could play it on her Mac like its predecessors. Diablo 4, unfortunately for Goldberg, is only available for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. In a video posted to her Instagram account, first reported by Entertainment Weekly, Goldberg pleaded with Blizzard to release Diablo 4 on Mac. "This is what I'm asking you, Blizzard," Goldberg said. "This is Whoopi. You know how much I love Diablo. I would like y'all to let those of us who use our Apples to play… allow us to play on the Apple. Take Diablo 4 and let us do it and have a great time.”...
Resident Evil: Code Veronica starts ominously. An opening crawl tells us a mid-western town, Raccoon City, has been completely decimated due to a T-Virus outbreak. Helicopters fly towards a mysterious island where Claire Redfield’s unloaded and then knocked out – she was captured by the Umbrella Corporation while infiltrating a Parisian lab. She was looking for her brother, the infamous police officer Chris Redfield. In a flashback, Claire sprints down a hallway, a machine gun firing at her, shards of glass going everywhere. She’s soon cornered and captured, but not without setting a few Umbrella employees on fire. If any of the series’ early installments deserves a comeback, it’s Code Veronica. It’s an opening cutscene as instantly...
After three years, an extremely dedicated group of Final Fantasy IX fans have shared a hands-on gameplay demo, showcasing their own take on what a remake of the game would look like. The latest update from the project was a 25-minute video of a full gameplay demo. Unfortunately, however, this is the furthest this remake will go and you'll probably never be able to play it, as the group behind the project has said in the past that it has no intentions to publicly release this unless they receive consent from Square Enix. As they put it on their website: “Memoria Project is a proof of concept and is not meant to be viewed as a playable product. We will never do anything to infringe upon Square Enix’s copyright.” Still, at least we get...
Madden NFL has even more to prove than usual this year. Heading into its fourth year in the PS5 / Xbox Series X generation, EA’s storied football series has more in common with the Chicago Bears than the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs. The last three entries have been battered by fans and critics alike, with last year’s release averaging a 69 on Metacritic. As in previous years, EA’s strategy is to basically play defense and ignore the bad press, claiming that players are actually very happy while keeping the focus on the game it wants to promote. EA revealed Madden 24 to a group of reporters and influencers at a press event last week, opting to move away from the staggered info drops from previous years in favor of a more...
Twice Different, the Australian-based indie game studio behind the 2020 card crawler Ring of Pain, has announced a bizarre horror game featuring our favorite silly old bear, Winnie's Hole. Introduced out of nowhere at the end of the Blessing Show yesterday, the game is a Steam-exclusive rogue-lite genre blend where you play as a virus traveling through Winnie the Pooh's body. As you spread throughout the bear's rotund vessel like a cancer, you branch out the map and gather the resources you need to capture healthy cells and mutate them to grow as many extra appendages and eyes to transform Winnie into a monstrosity of your liking and adapt his form for survival. As you progress through the game and infect more animal residents of the...
Happy Summer of Gaming, everyone! A busy week of announcements was kicked off today with the Guerrilla Collective Showcase, an annual celebration of upcoming indie games that was bursting with new trailers and gameplay. Look, there were a lot of games shown off during that show today, and we encourage you to go watch the entire show when you get the chance. But for now, we picked out a handful of our absolute favorites to highlight - check these out, check them all out: Super Space Club I think I felt my stress levels drop at least 40% watching the release date trailer for Super Space Club. It's a colorful arcade space shooter where you control a tiny triangle of a space ship zipping around the screen, pew pewing meteors and other...

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is back from the dead with an offer of refunds and a fresh batch of screenshots. In a message to fans, publisher Paradox acknowledged it had been some time since the last update on the long-awaited but troubled role-playing game. The sequel to developer Troika Games' much-loved 2004 cult-classic RPG was announced four years ago and at one point was due out in 2020. But the game was heavily-delayed and its developer, Hardsuit Labs, suffered a number of high-profile exits. In 2021, Paradox admitted it almost cancelled the project after ditching Hardsuit Labs, delaying the game indefinitely, and cancelling new pre-orders Now, Paradox has announced it will show more of Bloodlines 2 this September...
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge gets a new Dimension Shellshock DLC for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox One later this year, publisher Dotemu and developer Tribute Games have announced. The DLC adds Usagi Yojimbo as a new playable character to the well-received beat ‘em-up. The rabbit samurai is the star of the self-titled comic book series and has popped up in the various Turtles animated series. There’s also a new game mode, fresh original music from composer Tee Lopes, and alternative colour schemes for playable fighters. Meanwhile, a second free update is set to be released, which adds an additional range of colour palette options separate from those included within the Dimension Shellshock DLC...
The first Diablo 4 player to hit Level 100 in Hardcore mode was left speechless after his character was lost forever following a disconnect. Souaïb ‘carn’ Hanaf was livestreaming Diablo 4 when the game disconnected. After logging back in, carn discovered his max level Hardcore Barbarian was gone, leaving him no option but to create another character and start all over again. Diablo 4’s Hardcore mode features permadeath, which means if a character dies it’s gone for good. Clearly upset and confused, carn wonders whether he has suffered a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. He then spends some time searching Diablo 4’s menus for a trace of his character, to no avail. “This is the one thing when I was playing the beta that I...
No Man’s Sky’s next big update is about AI and robot uprisings. The update, out today for all formats, is dubbed Singularity. It is the 10th major update for the long-running space exploration game. Singularity forms a part of a much longer narrative arc that kicked off in the Interceptor update and is set to play out as the year goes on. Players investigate curious robot heads that are delivering cryptic clues across the galaxy. The story is about AI corruption and robotic uprisings, with Hello Games teasing “strong hints of what’s to come in No Man’s Sky”. “Throughout the five week long expedition, the whole community will be working with Nada and Polo on the space anomaly to try to breathe new life into the galaxy, and work...
Diablo 4 launched proper yesterday, June 6, and now all players can see just how pricey its microtransactions are. Blizzard’s $70 action role-playing game leans heavily on in-game monetisation, with plans for various battle passes post-launch. Available now, however, is the in-game shop, which has become a bone of contention among fans. Diablo 4’s shop sells cosmetics only. There are no gameplay-affecting items up for sale. While that is very much a good thing, and in keeping with promises Blizzard made before launch, the pricing of some of these cosmetics has raised eyebrows. Take the Triune Apostate armour set, for example. It weighs in at 2,500 Platinum. Platinum is Diablo 4’s premium in-game currency, and must itself be bought...
Counter-Strike 2 now lets players refund their weapons. Developer Valve confirmed the feature, which Counter-Strike players have long-called for, in the tweet below. “Bought the wrong thing? Meant to buy a different weapon, armor, or grenade? Sell your purchase back and buy again (during buy time).” Currently, Counter-Strike does not allow refunds under any circumstances, which means if you buy a gun in error you either have to use it or fork out more cash to buy another. It’s worth noting Counter-Strike rival Valorant, from Riot, does offer refunds. The addition of refunds comes as part of a significant update for Counter-Strike 2, which is currently available to play as part of a limited test. The update also includes a...

Personally, as a gamer known to min-max whenever possible, I'd rather just get right to the deals. Unfortunately, the ol' SEO says we have to do a little chit-chat before that happens. So, how you been? Good? You look well. I love what you've done with your hair. Reverse mohawk with mutton chops was a bold choice. OK.. that ought to do it. Now we can get to the thing that I actually care about—saving you money on the games that matter. This Day in Gaming Aussie birthdays for notable games. - Mario Strikers Charged (GC) 2007. Hit mobile game Angry Birds is getting a brand-new animated series on Amazon Prime. Announced today, the 24-episode series, titled Angry Birds: Mystery Island, will follow three new hatchlings – Mia, Rosie, and Buddy. There’s also a foreign exchange piglet called Hamylton. “We’re excited to work with Amazon to add a new chapter to the Hatchlings’ story in Angry Birds Mystery Island,” said Rovio's head of brand licensing, Hanna Valkeapää-Nokkala. “I’m sure fans of the Hatchlings will be eager to see them in their own series, with speaking voices for the first time.” The show follows the four youngsters as they set off on an all-expenses-paid island getaway, but are instead mistakenly catapulted to a mysterious, uncharted island...
After several betas and an early access period, Diablo 4 is finally available for all to play. IGN's expert guide writers have been hard at work uncovering its many secrets and adding them to the Diablo 4 Walkthrough. While Diablo 4's open regions allow you to explore and delve into various dungeons, it's still worthwhile to tackle the main story as soon as you can, as it's the only way you can eventually unlock a mount to ride across Diablo 4's vast areas. We still have you covered on Diablo 4's various optional Dungeons, Side Quests, Altar of Lilith locations, and much more, but the latest Diablo 4 Walkthrough update covers each of the first three Acts that can be undertaken in any order and the fourth Act that unlocks the ability...
EA is nearing an agreement to move the ongoing development and operation of MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic from BioWare to third-party studio Broadsword Online Games, IGN has learned. According to sources familiar with the matter, Broadsword and EA have signed a letter of intent, with the deal expected to be finalized as soon as this month. The agreement would see The Old Republic handed over to current Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot developer Broadsword Online, which is run by former Mythic Entertainment co-founder and BioWare VP Rob Denton, who previously worked on The Old Republic in its early days. Currently, roughly 70-80 people are part of the core development team of The Old Republic, more than half of whom are...
Diablo 4 was officially released today and if you're planning to give it a whirl, you should anticipate the game's servers to be a little rocky. IGN's sister site, Downdetector.com, has been sharing user-reported outages for the game's servers, but these issues aren't entirely new. Players have reported problems with Diablo 4 since its early access release five days ago. PlayStation 5 players that preordered the $90 Digital Deluxe Edition or the $100 Ultimate Edition reported a day after the early access release that an "Invalid License" error was locking them out. Players were also having wide login issues last night, although Blizzard said in a tweet this morning that those issues were resolved. Diablo 4 Tips from IGN Guides For...
When you think of RoboCop, you think of a one-man tank. A heavily armed and armored dealer of justice who patrols the streets of Detroit while walking really slowly. Honestly, it’s a surprise he ever makes it to the scene of the crime on time, given the pace he ambles along. It’s even more of a surprise that RoboCop’s methodical movement from the movies has made it into Rogue City, which is a first-person shooter – a genre traditionally dominated by games where speed and agility are key. Of course, RoboCop’s slow and precise movements are two crucial parts of his identity, so it was always the plan to make that an important part of the game. However, it meant rethinking the way the developer approached making a first-person shooter...
Blizzard revealed that Diablo 4 is the company’s fastest-selling game of all time. Although, this milestone has some caveats. While Blizzard didn’t provide any specific sales numbers, Diablo 4 has been played for 93 million hours since its early access launch on June 1. “This is a moment years in the making for the Diablo 4 team,” said Rod Fergusson, Diablo general manager, in a statement. “We’re extremely proud to offer players the richest story ever told in a Diablo game.” He continued: “Since the game was first announced in 2019, the support from millions of players around the world drove us toward this release of our dark vision of Sanctuary. Hail Lilith, Blessed Mother.” It’s once again worth noting that Diablo 4 has been out...
Respawn's Jedi: Survivor included a ton of new and returning characters completely crucial to Star Wars Canon but perhaps none more important than Turgle. The giant froggy menace grabbed the attention of Star Wars fans for his strangely charismatic shenanigans, and now Jedi: Survivor director Stig Asmussen has teased his return in the future. Speaking to IGN for Podcast Beyond, Asmussen commented on the fan reaction to Turgle and gave his followers hope that they'll get even more in the future. "When you work on a game, you never know what people are going to latch onto and Turgle... the team love Turgle," he said. "I think Richard Horvitz, the actor, did a fine job with him, but once it goes live, once it's out in the wild and...
Capcom has moved to remind Street Fighter 6 players that DLC hasn’t come out yet amid a backlash to the game’s Ultimate Pass. The Street Fighter 6 Year 1 Ultimate Pass, which costs $49.99 / £49.99, launched alongside the game itself and now has a “Mostly Negative” user review rating on Steam. The backlash stems from confusion about the availability of the content of the Pass itself, as well as a feeling from some that it does not include enough of the in-game currency. The Ultimate Pass includes four additional characters (Rashid, A.K.I., Ed, Akuma), extra colours and costumes for those characters, two new stages, and 7,700 Drive Tickets. "Really unimpressed with this cheap tactic to squeeze extra money out of people with easily...
This article contains major spoilers for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, including a key plot point and its consequences. Respawn Entertainment's Jedi: Survivor includes a story as complex as any other in Star Wars, and director Stig Asmussen has revealed what inspired its biggest twist. Speaking to IGN for Podcast Beyond, Asmussen revealed that a classic Keanu Reeves film directly inspired one character and, final spoiler warning, the reference is surprisingly on the nose. Jedi: Survivor's Bode was based on Bodhi from Point Break, big betrayal and all. "Bode is born out of our narrative director Aaron Contreras," Asmussen said. "He had this idea, of all movies, [from] Point Break." He continued: "That was the genesis for it and we...
Respawn Entertainment's Star Wars Jedi franchise has never been shy about pulling from FromSoftware's Dark Souls games but director Stig Asmussen has revealed The Legend of Zelda to be another inspiration. Speaking to IGN for Podcast Beyond, Asmussen revealed that sequel Jedi: Survivor's developers drew inspiration from Zelda games to create the myriad of puzzles for Cal Kestis and the player to overcome. We had a lot of puzzles in the game and I would be lying if I didn't say that we definitely drew inspiration from Zelda "We had a lot of puzzles in the game and I would be lying if I didn't say that we definitely drew inspiration from Zelda," he said. Asmussen explained that his team of level designers essentially had a toy box of...
Diablo 4 is experiencing further log-in issues as new players flood the servers. Diablo 4: Ultimate Edition owners enjoyed four days of relatively smooth-sailing early access. Now Diablo 4 is available to all, more log-in issues are beginning to emerge. “Game servers are down again,” said one Reddit user. "I was teleporting and got stuck on a loading screen. Now I can't load into the game, getting error 30000. Oh well." Unfortunately, some were hit harder than others. When Hardcore mode characters die, they're gone forever, which makes disconnections even more stressful. “I literally just lost my [Hardcore] character 95% through the campaign cause the game [disconnected] me during one of the final boss fights,” said a Reddit user...
A Diablo 4 player has reached level 100 with a Hardcore character playing solo. Wudijo, who hit the headlines last month after defeating world boss Ashava with a Hardcore character solo, is the first player to hit Diablo 4’s level cap with a Hardcore character playing on their own. Hardcore mode adds permadeath to Diablo 4, which means if you die, your character is gone forever. Wudijo set out to complete the challenge when Diablo 4 early access began on June 1, and finished June 5, a day before Diablo 4’s full launch. Watch the moment he hit level 100 live on Twitch here. Wudijo admitted he felt "exhausted" after his gruelling four-day race to 100. "That was intense, man," he said shortly after hitting the level cap. "The last...
