Epic Games Store Gave Away $2,000 Worth of Games in 2023

The Epic Games Store has released its 2023 year in review, which includes stats revealing it gave away more than $2,000 worth of games last year. A blog post on the Epic Games Store, which looks to rival other PC storefronts such as Steam, revealed it gave away 86 games in total amassing to a recommended retail price of $2,055. More than 580 million games were downloaded through the free giveaway offer. As for actual player numbers, the Epic Games Store reached 75 million monthly active users in December 2023, which was a 10% increase from the previous year. Star Wars Mandalorian Video Game Reportedly in the Works at Respawn

Star Wars Jedi and Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment is reportedly working on a first-person Mandalorian video game. Insider Gaming reports Respawn’s Mandalorian game, which in the early stages of development, lets players control a Mandalorian bounty hunter during a time when the Empire is dominating the galaxy. IGN has asked EA for comment. The player is reportedly tasked with taking on bounties for cash, as you might expect from a Mandalorian video game. After Pricing Dragon’s Dogma 2 $70, Capcom Is Now Considering a Video Game Price Review

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the first Capcom game priced $70, but it sounds like there’s more to come. In a financial results conference call Q&A summary, Capcom responded to a question about the company’s video price policy that also pointed out $69.99 had become the norm for triple-A video games across the industry. “Dragon's Dogma 2, which is scheduled for release this fiscal year, will be priced at $69.99,” Capcom replied. “Industrywide development costs are rising, and we are considering a price review as one option. Fallout and Fallout 2 Free on Epic Games Store Next Week

A handful of classic Fallout games, including the beloved Fallout 2, are free to download and own forever via the Epic Games Store from February 22 for a week. As reported by VGC, Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel will be available from February 22 to 29 to anyone with an Epic Games account. Players just need to log in to the store and visit the individual game pages to claim them, granting access to them forever. Following the revelation that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone are getting a surprise Warhammer 40,000 crossover, a dataminer has revealed what the skins actually look like in-game. Modern Warfare 3 dataminer TheOfficeCOD posted a video showcasing two Space Marine operator skins coming to Activision’s shooter, one from the Ultramarines chapter, the other from the Blood Angels. Post Malone Is Not Only Curating WWE 2K24's Soundtrack, He's a Playable Character, Too

Prolific musician Post Malone will not only be a part of the soundtrack for WWE 2k24, but will also become a playable character in the game, 2K Sports has confirmed. In a blog post, 2K Sports revealed that the rapper would not only include a few of his songs on the soundtrack, but that he curated the game's score, serving as Executive Soundtrack Producer, with various genres from electronic music to rock. 2K also revealed that Post Malone would be a playable character in WWE 2K24, purchasable via a DLC pack that will be available at an undisclosed time following the game's release. Palworld Dev Outlines Anti-Cheat Plan, but Admits It’s Struggling to Keep Up With Cheaters

Palworld developer Pocketpair has addressed the rampant cheating that is affecting the 'Pokemon with guns' survival and crafting game, and outlined a number of steps it’s taking to try to combat the problem. Larian has released Baldur’s Gate 3’s huge Patch 6 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. It launches on Mac at a later date. The highlight here is the patch introduces new and randomised kisses for every romantic partner, but that’s not all. There are new camp idle animations, new Legendary Actions for bosses in Honour Mode, as well as quality-of-life improvements, additions, and fixes based on community feedback. Alan Wake 2 Remedy’s Fastest-Selling Game So Far

Alan Wake 2 has sold 1.3 million copies since going on sale on October 27, 2023 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via the Epic Games Store, making it developer Remedy Entertainment's fastest-selling game ever. Alan Wake 2 had sold one million copies by the end of 2023, and shifted an additional 300,000 copies as of the beginning of February 2024, Remedy revealed. Trumpeting Alan Wake 2’s ongoing sales, Remedy said the game had sold over 50% more copies and over three times more digital copies in its first two months than Control did in its first four months. ZA/UM Reportedly Cancels Disco Elysium Expansion, at Risk of Lay-Offs

Disco Elysium developer ZA/UM has reportedly cancelled a standalone expansion for the game, leaving several staff members at risk of losing their jobs. Sources close to the matter told Video Games by GLHF that around 24 employees, or roughly one quarter of all staff, are at risk of redundancy. Sony has signed a deal with developer Far From Home to secure Forever Skies as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive due out at some point in 2024.
