That’s no moon. It’s an island. A Fortnite island, to be exact. As you probably know by now, Star Wars is headed to Fortnite in a big way. Starting May 1, developers will be able to “create Star Wars-inspired islands in Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and Fortnite Creative using curated assets and tools from [Epic's] largest IP toolset to date.” That means fan-favorite characters (Luke, Leia, Vader), locations (Hoth, Nevarro, Tatooine), vehicles (X-Wings, TIE Fighters, AATs) will be fully available and playable within Fortnite. Ahead of the official launch, I sat down with James Waugh, Senior Vice President of Franchise Story and Creative Strategy at Lucasfilm to talk about just how this new experience fits into the overall Star...
Dark Horse is adding another awesome statue to its ever-growing lineup of The Witcher collectibles. This time, the focus is on capturing a quieter and more contemplative moment from The Witcher 3, as Geralt and Ciri relax and bond around a campfire. IGN can exclusively debut the first photos of Dark Horse's The Witcher: Geralt and Ciri Fireside Premium Statue. Check them out in the slideshow gallery below: The Witcher: Geralt and Ciri Fireside Premium Statue depicts Geralt sitting on a log and recounting a tale of his past exploits while Ciri listens attentively. The statue features a water hag trophy resting at Ciri's feet and an LED light-up campfire (powered by an included USB-C cable). This statue measures about 7 inches tall on...
Rebellion's post-apocalyptic survival game with a British twist, Atomfall, is getting its own TV adaptation. Inspired by the real-world Windscale disaster in 1957, which remains the worst nuclear accident in British history, Atomfall takes place after a fictional nuclear disaster left an area of UK in tatters. The survival-action game sees you explore, scavenge, craft, barter, and fight your way through "beautifully recreated scenery in search of answers." It recently secured Best British Game at the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards. Co-produced by both Rebellion and British production house Two Brothers — the Emmy and Golden Globe winning production team behind hits like Fleabag and The Missing — the new series describes the game as a...
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced will feature updated combat — but Ubisoft really wants you to know that the game hasn't been changed to become an RPG. In a lengthy post detailing the new combat changes and customizable HUD options it has added to the upcoming Black Flag remake, Ubisoft was again at pains to make clear that its updates and alterations had not radically changed the game's genre, to become more like recent entries. "Although health and defense bars are present in default settings, this does not change the fact that Black Flag Resynced remains an action-adventure game," Ubisoft wrote. "The combat works similarly to the original game, with health and defense bars being optional. There are no levels, no gear scores and...
The CEO of Monument Valley developer Ustwo Games, Maria Sayans, has outlined the studio needs to lower development costs, and to do so it will rely on contractors in the future rather than hiring full-time staff. Sayans explained the plan in an interview with Game Developer at London Games Fest. In the wake of Netflix dropping the Monument Valley games from its service and deals with major companies drying up, Ustwo has a plan to focus on building “meaningful single player experiences” for PC and consoles. It’s a plan already in motion, with Ustwo recently porting several of its games to platforms like Steam and Switch without publisher support. However, Sayans explained that they’ve subsequently learned that lower development budgets...
Tony Hawk once modded his friend’s PlayStation 1 in order to get feedback on early builds of the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. This is according to the Birdman himself, who told the story during a panel at iicon (a new conference for video game industry professionals) about the lasting legacy of the THPS series. Back in 1998, Hawk was working with Neversoft on early versions of the soon-to-be legendary skateboarding game, which at the time was borne out of a modified version of the failed Bruce Willis-branded game Apocalypse. “Every week they would burn a CD for me, and I played it on my modified PlayStation 1,” Hawk said. “I would make comments, and then the next week I get a disc in the mail with all the updates.” “I was really...

Steel City Interactive, the team behind Undisputed, has announced that it will be ceasing support for the boxing game ahead of a sequel. Undisputed was released back in 2024 after spending nearly two years in early access. It was the first licensed boxing game since EA’s Fight Night, and was an earnest attempt to make something from next to nothing. The team was eventually able to attract real boxers and major boxing organizations to help make the game more authentic. Undisputed received mixed reviews from critics, including IGN (we gave it a 6), but many see the potential in Steel City’s vision. As a result, the studio has announced via a YouTube video that it will be ending post-launch support for Undisputed to focus its efforts on...
GreedFall developer Spiders has confirmed that it is shutting down and will cease operations immediately. The gaming industry has been experiencing a lot of woes in recent years, with numerous studios being shut down or losing large amounts of talent due to layoffs. The reasons for this vary case by case, but most of the major gaming giants have been impacted on some level. Unfortunately, even some of the smaller studios are also being hit. Spiders is a French video game developer that has been around since 2008. The studio was able to find its niche in helping port titles to Xbox 360, but eventually began making its own original titles in the 2010s. The team is best known for its work on the RPG series GreedFall and operated in the...
Far Cry 4 creative director Alex Hutchinson has spoken out after comments from Fargo and Alien: Earth creator Noah Hawley drew ire from video game fans online. Hawley, who is currently preparing to launch a new Far Cry TV series, sparked controversy when discussing why his series would not adapt any of Ubisoft's popular open world games. "I'm not specifically adapting any of the games that they've put out," Hawley told Deadline. "I'm saying much as I did with the Coens or X-Men or Alien, 'Let me have a dialog with this franchise, because this is what I think a Far Cry story is.' "We can have a larger conversation about the strengths and weaknesses of adapting video games specifically because games are built in a way that doesn't make...
Amazon's 2026 Gaming Week Sale features some pretty nice deals, but there's one batch of offers that's really caught my eye: a few Resident Evil games - Resident Evil 2 remake, Resident Evil 3 remake, Resident Evil 4 remake, and Resident Evil 7 - have all dropped to just $16 at the retailer. Yep, you read that correctly. $16. This is an excellent offer to take advantage of if you don't already have one of these games. And if you've never played any of these Resident Evils before, you could pick up all four of them for $63.96, which is less than the cost of Resident Evil Requiem at full price (although that's one I'd certainly still recommend if you're looking to play beyond the games in this sale). Each of these games are well worth...
The successor to Garry’s Mod, S&box, is getting slammed with AI-generated content, much to the dismay of its creator. Back in 2006, a little game known as Garry’s Mod hit Steam. Players were empowered to create whatever they wanted with Valve’s Source engine, leading to a boom of online role-playing servers, games like Prop Hunt, and much more. It’s similar to Roblox in many ways. It remains a highly successful Steam title, especially because it has been priced at $10 since its launch 20 years ago. However, creator Garry Newman has always had aspirations to do more with the concept, and so, a successor known as S&box was born. It utilizes a heavily modified version of the Source 2 engine and has been in the works for years now, but...
Sony has announced the PlayStation Plus Monthly games lineup for May 2026, which will be headlined by EA Sports FC 26. Soulslike action RPG Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is also among the three new titles offered for subscribers, as is indie Metroidvania Nine Sols. All three will become available to download next week, on Tuesday, May 5. EA Sports FC 26 is, of course, the former FIFA franchise's latest entry. Released last September, it provides the usual roster of modes (including Ultimate Team) and a refresh Rivals and Champs experience. Its arrival on PlayStation Plus comes alongside the launch of an "EA Sports FC 26 PlayStation Plus Icons Pack" for subscribers to claim over the next month. In IGN's 7/10-scored EA Sports FC 26 review...
Marathon has tweaked its "item economy," now offering one free Cryo Archive Sponsored Kit each week to make it easier to participate in its weekend-only endgame zone, the Cryo Archive. Cryo Archive doubled down on the ultra hardcore Marathon experience, with several requirements you needed to meet in order to access it. As an extraction shooter, Marathon can be brutal; if you fail to exfil at the end of a game, you lose everything you took in with you, including your weapons and consumables. But Cryo Archive is even harder to get into, because your loadout needs to be worth at least 5,000 credits just to play. Marathon players had called on Bungie to make Cryo Archive more accessible by giving all players the free loadout that was...
Italian game company Digital Bros. has bought the Wuchang: Fallen Feathers intellectual property rights. The parent company of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers' publisher 505 Games, Digital Bros. purchased the IP rights from developer Chengdu Lingze Technology Co. Ltd for around $4.6 million. This secures "full ownership" of the soulslike action RPG and all future royalties. IP rights allow a person or company to patent, trademark, or copyright protect something they've created, even if it's an intangible asset, like the story or a particular mechanic in a video game. From there, they can release media like books, games, TV shows, and so on, safe in the knowledge that others cannot copy or recycle them without permission. Digital Bros. said...
Invincible VS, the superhero 3v3 tag fighting game set in the Invincible universe, is coming to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5 on April 30. Developer Quarter Up has now confirmed the exact global release times, so you know when Invincible VS goes live in your timezone. The fighting game sees you battle to the death as a team of fan-favorite characters from the hugely popular Prime Video animated series, including Mark Grayson (Invincible), Thula, Bulletproof, Atom Eve, Rex Splode, and Omni-Man. Those who participated in the beta received the Coalition of Planets Omni-Man skin as a thank you for taking part. There's a story mode, too, that acts as a bonus, playable episode of the animated series set between later episodes of Season 3...
Colourful, quirky, and completely chaotic, Above Land: Rhapsody basically takes the three-player co-op carnage of Elden Ring Nightreign and injects it with some hilariously over-the-top weapons and special moves that seem straight out of a Yakuza street brawl. At a recent BiliBili: First Look event in Shanghai, I spent a few hours hacking and slashing away at monsters in a land above the clouds, in this frenetic roguelite that marries breathtaking bursts of action and tower defense elements with a deep sense of combat customisation. Yet what really stood out for me was the creative combination of weaponry at my disposal. I mean, when was the last time you played an action RPG that allowed you to cut down goblins with a giant broadsword...
Introducing Above Land: Rhapsody, an absolutely wild sci-fi fantasy action-RPG roguelite with tower defense elements set above the clouds that you can play in three-player co-op where weapons include bows and arrows, swords, and chairs. Yes, chairs. And basketballs. You'll see what we mean in the trailer, which you can watch above. Above Land: Rhapsody is being developed by Flying Amateurs and puts you into a cloud-based civilization on floating islands on the backs of giant mythical creatures known as Kun. The team describes Above Land's setup as such: "Players enter chapters from a comic book left behind by the player's mother, complete each map's challenge, bring back Stars, repair the stranded Invincible Bebe, and unlock later...
The Blood of Dawnwalker finally has a release date, but developer Rebel Wolves also released the PC system requirements and they're a little extreme. As has been the trend for recent games like Crimson Desert, Rebel Wolves released its PC requirements with a chart, detailing the kind of hardware necessary to run the game at different resolutions, quality presets, and the target frame rate for each. These range from the minimum settings to running at 4K with the Ultra preset. Running the game at its minimum settings is pretty reasonable, only calling for an RTX 3050 or GTX 1070 – but that's just to run the game at minimum settings, at 1080p and at 30fps to boot. If you want to max the game out, you're going to need an RTX 5090, which...
USB Type-C has become the standard for charging and data cables alike, so it's good to have extra on hand. If you need to stock up, there's a deal today that drops the price-per-cable to under $2. For a limited time, Amazon is offering a five-pack of Lisen 60W USB Type-C to USB Type-C cables for a mere $7.49 after you apply coupon code "SZECQQWI". That averages out to $1.50 per cable, which as good as you're ever going to get. USB-C cables typically go for about $10 each at your local big box store. Use these to charge or sync any device with a USB-C port, including your Nintendo Switch 2, iPhone 16, or even a laptop. 5-Pack Lisen USB-C Cables for $1.50 Per Cable This five pack provides you will a variety of lengths for all...
Today a new romance game was announced, Silent Whispers, and fans of the ruling otome title Love and Deepspace quickly noticed a few similarities between the two. Namely, the white-haired, sharp-cheekboned Alarik, one of the three romantic leads in Silent Whispers. Silent Whispers is the work of Archosaur Games, a Chinese company that has already had success with the anime-style open-world MMORPG game Dragon Raja and fashion sim Life Makeover. According to Archosaur, this latest title "is a UE5-powered cinematic love adventure game where cinematic 4K visuals bring every heartbeat in the city to life." Despite the glaring similarity, this Silent Whispers is not affiliated with Love And Deepspace, or its publisher Infold game. The...
The MindsEye comeback has begun, with developer Build a Rocket Boy seemingly hoping for a Cyberpunk 2077-level redemption story. Since MindsEye's disastrous launch last year, BARB has laid off staff and blamed internal saboteurs for its failure. CEO Mark Gerhard has issued claims of corporate sabotage for some time now, but has yet to provide any proof to the public. Instead, he had teased an update to MindsEye that would shine more of a light on the matter and name/depict the alleged conspirators in-game. Now, that content is here in the form of the Blacklisted update, which released today alongside a permanent price cut for MindsEye. Starting today, MindsEye costs $34.99 for the Standard Edition and $47.99 for the Deluxe Edition...
Rebel Wolves may not have yet launched its first game, The Blood of Dawnwalker, but the studio’s CEO and co-founder, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, is already thinking about not just further games in the saga, but a whole new IP. From almost the start of The Blood of Dawnwalker’s promotional campaign, Rebel Wolves has been upfront about the fact it considers the RPG the start of a saga. Last year, at Gamescom, creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz told us “There is this whole hidden world that we are not exploring on purpose in this first game. We want to leave a lot of fuel for the sequels and so on. But we do leave breadcrumbs and hint at these things. So yeah, we have a general idea of where we want to take [protagonist] Coen.” While...
Konrad Tomaszkiewicz loves RPGs. That will come as a surprise to no one who takes even a cursory glance at his career history, which saw him rise from a junior tester all the way up to the director of The Witcher 3 and its expansions over a 17-year journey with CD Projekt Red. Today, Tomaszkiewicz has his own studio, Rebel Wolves, which is dedicated to making new games in the genre he’s loved for decades. “From the first PCs, my favorite games were Eye of the Beholder and Betrayal at Krondor,” he reminisces. “Later it was Ultima 7, Baldur's Gate, the first Fallout. And then there was definitely Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, the first one. It was buggy as hell but it was a great game. So many possibilities, every vampire clan...
Finding a lost animal for a worried owner is Quest Design 101 for fantasy RPGs, and so it’s unsurprising to find that The Blood of Dawnwalker’s prologue features its own wandering farmyard resident. Tasked with finding a prized pig, protagonist Coen searches high and low (and beats up a castaway man) in his attempt to bring the sow back to her owner… who, when reunited with his muddy love, promptly asks if Coen would like to butcher the animal himself. This dark twist is perhaps the earliest indication that The Blood of Dawnwalker is absolutely a game created by the former director of The Witcher 3 and a studio staffed by numerous ex-CD Projekt Red talent. Even the smallest quests have grisly repercussions. During a recent trip to...
The use of artificial intelligence in video game development has become a thorny and divisive topic over the past couple of years, and so naturally it was a topic of conversation during a recent press Q&A session with The Blood of Dawnwalker’s game director, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz. The former Witcher 3 director revealed that generative AI technology is used at the studio as part of the development process, used with the intention of preventing stress and overtime rather than creating final assets. Tomaszkiewicz revealed that generative AI voices were used during the early stages of The Blood of Dawnwalker's development, with the intention of testing and locking in the script before it was handed over to actors. “In our genre, when you...
The Blood of Dawnwalker is the new game from The Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz’s Rebel Wolves studio, developed by a team made up of both ex-CD Projekt Red talent and other developers. While it has many interesting new ideas, it does look rather similar to The Witcher 3 in several ways, and so I had one significant question to ask when I recently visited the studio’s HQ in Poland: is there a Yen and Triss situation here? Fans of The Witcher 3 will know exactly what I’m talking about. As protagonist Geralt, your affections are torn between two women: Yennefer of Vengerberg, Geralt’s lover during the era of the original Witcher novels, and Triss Merigold, a sorceress with whom Geralt forms a relationship with across the first...
The Blood of Dawnwalker has finally set its release date: September 3, 2026. That’s across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. The single-player, open world vampire role-playing game is from Rebel Wolves, which was founded by former developers of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk at CD Projekt. Rebel Wolves describes The Blood of Dawnwalker as “the first chapter” in a “brand new role-playing saga.” It's set in 14th-century Europe, with a dark fantasy tone. The early September release date is comfortably ahead of GTA 6’s November launch, so it should have plenty of headroom to make an impression. Alongside the release date announcement, we also have a new story trailer. Here's the official blurb: The developers also showcased...
Capcom cut a whole chapter from Resident Evil Requiem that would have taken place shortly after the beginning of the game. According to Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi, Capcom excised a "phantom" Chapter 2 during development — similar to how the company also cut Resident Evil 7's second gameplay chapter. "I've mentioned in interviews before that there was a phantom Chapter 2 for Resident Evil 7 that was cut during development," Nakanishi told Japanese website Denfaminicogamer (via machine translation). "It was a scene where you move from the first annex to the main building, but actually, there was also a phantom Chapter 2 for Resident Evil: Requiem." Frustratingly, Nakanishi did not go into further detail on what this cut chapter...
The new mode coming to Resident Evil Requiem next month will require you have completed the main game in order to access it. So, if you're yet to finish Leon S. Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft's adventures in Raccoon City, now is the time to do so, according to Requiem's development team. "It's a mini-game, and it's based on the battles in the main game," director Koshi Nakanishi said in an interview with Japanese site Denfaminicogamer (via machine translation). "For those who have cleared the main story and are thinking, 'I still haven't had enough fun!', I think you'll be able to enjoy this and go 'Whoa!!', so sharpen your hatchet and wait." "This mini-game is content that is unlocked after clearing the main story," added producer...
