It’s been a big week for Drukhari fans after Games Workshop finally remembered the Dark Eldar exist and announced two new models for the faction as well as a new codex and Combat Patrol. But one of the models in particular has caught the attention of Baldur’s Gate 3 fans, many of whom think she looks very much like God's Favourite Princess. “The Drukhari have been biding their time in the depths of Commorragh, but it’s finally time to launch the raid and drink deep of the galaxy’s misery — Codex: Drukhari is on its way!” Games Workshop said in a post on the Warhammer Community website earlier this week. “At the fore is a character long known for her quicksilver intellect and violent tendencies, who now steps onto the battlefield with...
Ubisoft employees have raised concerns around the company's partnership with Saudi Arabia to create new Assassin's Creed Mirage DLC, a fresh report has revealed. The upcoming content was first reported on back in January by a French financial newspaper, Les Echoes, which stated that the DLC had received funding from Saudi Arabia's controversial Public Investment Fund (PIF). Ubisoft did not respond to me when asked for comment on that report at the time. Months later, Ubisoft quietly announced the DLC itself in late August, in a social media post sent out early one Saturday morning. The brief reveal confirmed that the add-on would see Mirage hero Basim visiting AlUla, an ancient site that's now one of Saudi Arabia's cultural...
The post-launch support for Cyberpunk 2077 continues, this time with an AutoDrive upgrade and Photo Mode adjustments via Patch 2.31. As confirmed on developer CD Projekt’s website, Patch 2.31 is rolling out on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Mac, and Nintendo Switch 2 today, September 11, 2025. 2.31 follows Cyberpunk 2077’s significant Patch 2.3, co-developed with support studio Virtuos to add the AutoDrive feature, which lets you drive vehicles hands free. Is 2.3 the final major update for Cyberpunk 2077? CD Projekt has said previously released patches drew a line under the near five-year-old game, so perhaps there is more to come. Could Cyberpunk 2077 go out with a bang this December with a new update to coincide with its...
Embark Studios just launched Season 8 of free-to-download shooter The Finals, introducing new, revamped destruction and improvements to competitive play. But it also added a standard competitive multiplayer feature that — at least at launch — won’t be available on Xbox Series S. Season 8 introduces quality of life features to “enhance player experience and help strengthen their competitive skills,” including the beta version of the Instant Replay feature — aka a kill cam. Here’s the official blurb: It’s interesting to note the disclaimer Embark Studios added to the announcement: “this feature will not be compatible with Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4 and certain PC builds at launch.)” Killcam is a pretty standard FPS feature at this...
My passion for looter shooters has burned quite brightly for over 15 years and Borderlands is the flame that lit the fuse. With Borderlands 4, Gearbox proves it still knows how to bring the boom. After fizzling somewhat with Borderlands 3, it felt like this series had begun to fall behind in the genre it pioneered, but breaking away from segmented levels and embracing an honest-to-goodness open world allows 2025’s Borderlands to surprise us again. Drastically improved movement makes it one of the best-feeling first-person shooters out there, the story takes a refreshingly grounded approach that pays off, and the expanded buildcrafting options like healing items, throwing knives, and weapon enhancements are all fantastic ideas. But...
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 developer Saber Interactive has released a hotfix that makes a number of important fixes and balance changes following the release of the huge 10.0 patch. As well as buffing the new and very popular Power Axe, and an increase for the amount of Accolades rewarded for daily Stratagems, there is a fix for a bug that had caught the community’s eye and even sparked a number of memes. Here’s the fix in question: Fixed a bug causing the Trygon Prime to leave the boss arena to attack Cadians in Stratagem mode. Stratagem mode, a new PvE mode introduced with 10.0, has various Battlefield Conditions that change every day and week and make each operation different. These modifiers, which can help or hinder...
Activision has outlined the steps it’s taking to combat Call of Duty cheating on PC, while stressing that there’s no easy solution to the problem. Call of Duty has a reputation for cheating (it comes with the territory of being such a hugely popular shooter and having a free-to-download battle royale). Cheating is more prevalent on PC (Activision recently confirmed as much, to the point where it said if you believe you’ve died unfairly to a console player, it’s much more likely that they’ve used ‘intel advantage’ than cheats). So, some console players head straight into Call of Duty’s settings to turn off crossplay across the board, just to take the potential for PC cheaters ruining their day out of the equation. Earlier this year...
Even the least eagle-eyed of commuters will spot something different about London Waterloo station at the end of this week. To celebrate the highly-anticipated launch of Borderlands 4 this Friday (12th September), 2K are unleashing a huge takeover of the capital's transport hub across the weekend, with game imagery, interactive elements and a tonne of loot flooding the space. On your approach, look out for a number of billboards between the BFI IMAX and the station, featuring spoof fragrance ads and a Ripper bursting through the glass on the side of the railway bridge. As well as 3D chains and shards, this poster lights up, with the character's eyes glowing throughout the night. On the main concourse, the massive digital screens...
IP lawyers have criticised the U.S. patent system after Nintendo was awarded a Pokémon patent that revolves around summoning a character and letting it fight. Games Fray reported that Patent No. 12,403,397 was granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office "without any objection” to Nintendo, which is embroiled in ongoing litigation with Pocketpair's Palworld. While the patent pretty much sums up how Pokémon games work in that you summon Pokémon to battle other Pokémon in the hope of adding them to your collection, there are countless other games that use similar mechanics, such as Persona, Digimon, and even Elden Ring, depending upon how the patent is interpreted. As Games Fray pointed out, the patent — filed in 2023 — ostensibly...
Sometimes I think my digital backlog is growing by itself in my sleep. But then I see a price tag slashed into oblivion and I realise I'm the villain in this story, willingly feeding the pile with impulse buys. Today's round of bargains has me feeling smug about saving more than I spend, and I'm happy to share the highlights. Let's get amongst it. Contents Retro Nintendo Xbox PlayStation PC LEGO This Day in Gaming 🎂 In retro news, I'm belting a slime-shaped pinata with a ‘17’ on it for Dragon Quest IV: The Chapters of the Chosen. For many Aussies, said Nintendo DS port was our gateway into this legendary RPG series (due to non-existent local releases of the first three NES titles). It worked out kinda well because IV is the first...

Get ready, Nightfarers — an overview trailer of Elden Ring: Nightreign's upcoming ultra-hard Deep of Night mode just dropped alongside patch notes for Update 1.02.2. The new mode comes after the new update brings balance changes for Nightfarers and Everdark Sovereigns, as well as numerous bug fixes. The Deep of Night mode teaser, below, comes just in time to whet our appetites for tomorrow's (September 11) release of the highly anticipated mode, giving us "an in-depth look at this new, high-difficulty challenge for seasoned Nightfarers." Elden Ring: Nightreign's rumored ultra-hard difficulty mode was first uncovered by dataminers back in August. And after lots of speculation about what the mode would and wouldn't include, we now...
Ubisoft has detailed a fresh update coming to Assassin's Creed Shadows on September 11, which will add support for the game's upcoming Claws of Awaji expansion as well as a list of other freebies — including some very special armor and a very special cat. Assassin's Creed Shadows update 1.1.1 will launch at 7am Pacific, 10am Eastern or 3pm UK time tomorrow, and weigh in at 12.94GB on PlayStation 5, 33GB on Xbox Series X/S and 42GB on PC (though only 17GB through Steam). This update arrives a week ahead of Claws of Awaji's debut on September 16 — and for much more on what that contains, be sure to check out IGN's hands-on impressions of the expansion, including its cool Metal Gear Solid-inspired boss fight, and a lengthy chat with its...
Borderlands 4 is officially releasing on September 12 for most platforms. The exception to that is the Switch 2 edition that won't arrive until later in October. It's one of the most anticipated games of 2025 and fans of the Borderlands series have been eagerly awaiting its arrival since it was first announced last year. With the release date upon us, however, you may be wondering if it's actually worth preordering the game now or waiting. I've played every mainline Borderlands game with my dad over the years, so this is a question that I'm especially interested in. My dad has informed me that he's planning on preordering the Super Deluxe Edition of the game purely for the added DLC, but I'm thinking I'll probably wait a bit longer to...

No one can accuse Assassin's Creed Shadows of being a short game, or lacking more reasons to stick around after its main campaign wraps up. Ubisoft itself recommends you set aside 60 hours to reach its end credits, which eventually roll after you complete missions meant to cap off the personal journeys of its dual protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke. Six months after launch, my save file is now north of 100 hours, as I continue to explore further untouched corners of its map. All of that said, Shadows' story still feels incomplete. When those credits eventually do roll, several key story threads remain unresolved, such as the location and true status of Naoe's monther, as well as the last of three mysterious boxes — the hunt for which drives...
"After 50, 70, 100 hours, you need something a bit unique," says Simon Arsenault, content director for Assassin's Creed Shadows expansion Claws of Awaji at Ubisoft Bordeaux. And it's true to say that — despite much of the upcoming add-on feeling familiar — Awaji still contains just enough distinct moments that the portion of its additional 10 hours we've now played felt fresh enough, rather than only offering more of the same. Ubisoft is keen to showcase more of these distinct moments individually, and also keep some surprises back for players at launch, when the expansion arrives next week on September 16. But for now, IGN is able to highlight a cool Metal Gear Solid-inspired boss fight that doubles down on the series' focus on...
Warm up your old-school top-down twin-stick shooter skills with SunderBound, a two-player co-op shooter set in a crumbling mega-tower. It's in development at Kipi Interactive for PC. While I’m not the one to choose to watch a horror movie or read a spooky book, I actually love a good horror game. The bar-setting remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 4 are fantastic, Alan Wake 2’s unconventional storytelling was incredibly suspenseful and memorable, and my favorite spooky experiences come from passing the controller around with a room of friends trying to keep my character alive in games like Until Dawn or The Quarry. The thing is, while I’m a fan of dreadful atmosphere, creepy ambiance, and shocking, disgusting character designs, I don’t really play these games by myself, and can only stomach the anxiety of good horror if I’m experiencing it alongside other people in the room. That’s why I’m so excited after playing...
Developer Treyarch has confirmed some Black Ops 6 skins will carry forward to Black Ops 7 after all, as the Call of Duty community debates the rights and wrongs of Activision’s decision to prevent players from bringing over their cosmetics to the upcoming game. Call of Duty’s foray into goofy skins territory is well-documented, although recent releases have certainly amped up the conversation around them. With the likes of Beavis and Butt-Head and American Dad hitting the game this year shortly after weed-obsessed bundles starring Seth Rogen, some fans have said they’ve had enough of what they call the 'Fortnite-ification' of their beloved Call of Duty, and pleaded with publisher Activision to return to its mil-sim roots. Then, last...
Borderlands 4 boss Randy Pitchford has suggested that the game's pre-order bundle, which contains a free Fortnite skin, could become a worthwhile investment — after a previous Borderlands skin fetched "over $2k when trading on eBay." Writing on social media, Pitchford highlighted the looter shooter's Epic Games Store pre-order offer, which unlocks the Mad Moxxi skin in Fortnite. But players have been quick to point out that "trading" is against Fortnite's Terms of Service, and liable to result in a ban. "Is it true that the pre-order incentive Psycho Bandit skin in became one of the most valuable skins in Fortnite sometimes fetching over $2k when trading on eBay?" Pitchford wrote. "What are the odds this bundle becomes worth much more...

It looks like work on Dead Island 3 is underway after a tease was published to celebrate the series’ 14th anniversary. In a post on Steam, developer Dambuster Studios posted the image, below, alongside the caption: “and the next outbreak is already brewing.” “It's been 14 years since Dead Island first splattered onto the scene, stranding players in the blood-soaked paradise of Banoi,” the message continued. “Since then, the zompocalypse has crawled from tropical shores to the sun-drenched chaos of HELL-A in Dead Island 2, where over 20 million Slayers have left nothing but carnage behind. “This isn’t the final cut though. Dambuster Studios are already carving out what comes next. For now, the details stay under wraps, the outbreak...
Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake was one of my favorite games of last year. I scored it a 9 in my review, finding it to be a shining example of how to remake a classic RPG. Square Enix took everything that made Dragon Quest 3 an all-time favorite and leaned into it with a modern retelling that preserved its classic sensibilities: satisfying turn-based combat, a classic story full of heart, and gorgeous towns and dungeons to explore. Now, Dragon Quest 1&2 HD-2D Remake looks to follow in 3’s brilliantly executed footsteps, and if the hour I spent with the upcoming pair of remakes is any indication, they appear to have been recreated with the same level of love and quality as last year’s hit. To get any initial confusion out of the way, the...
What’s home for you? For much of my childhood, the back of a station wagon on the road between wherever the Navy stationed my old man. Then it was Florida. After I escaped, it was a small apartment in New York, then a slightly bigger apartment, and finally, a house. We tend to define ourselves by where we live at any given time, our memories of a time, of who we were, of the people who made those moments memorable, tied with a cord of steel to a specific place, for both good and ill. People fight for their homes. They rebuild after wars, famine, natural disasters. They preserve places, because those places are a part of us. What wouldn’t you do for your home, your community? I haven’t played a ton of Octopath Traveler 0 yet, but from...
An eagle-eyed Grand Theft Auto 6 fan thinks they've spotted a number of clues about the hugely anticipated game courtesy of a bundle of curious domain names registered by publisher Take-Two. While no one is entirely sure what the website names are for, all were apparently registered in May under Take-Two's own nameservers. Some fans suggest they're likely URLs for in-game sites that fans can visit IRL as well as in-game. "I came across some domains all registered on May 27 under Take-Two's nameservers that seem to be VI-related," explained Tez2 on the GTA forums. "These domains could be in-game sites that [Rockstar] may redirect to VI's page later on, like what we've seen with IV and V. Or some could be completely unrelated instead."...
