Doomsday Diner is a new post-apocalyptic first-person shooter in which you also manage a diner. Check it out and you might find that, like peanut butter and chocolate, it's two unique tastes that taste great together. It's in development for PC. Featuring a Borderlands-ish art style and a tone that clearly doesn't take itself too seriously, Doomsday Diner is from developer Space Rock Games and will have you trying to upgrade your guns and your diner and keep it in business while raiders walk through the doors and try to put you out of business – literally and figuratively. Take a look at the announcement trailer above and the first gameplay screenshots in the gallery below. Your guests will want hot dogs, coffee, and plenty of much...
If you thought Hollow Knight's depths were vast, Hollow Knight: Silksong easily surpasses the original game. Team Cherry's long-awaited and highly anticipated sequel takes place in Pharloom, a new location that completely dwarfs the original in scope. We've visualized the difference and built a Silksong interactive map so you can explore it yourself at your own pace without getting completely lost. This article contains spoilers for location names, Silksong's map layout, and collectible names, so bear that in mind if you're wanting to be as spoiler-free as possible! How Big is Silksong? Map Size Compared to Hollow Knight When you first dive into Silksong, its map might not feel much different from Hollow Knight's; both have many...
A social hub in the vein of Destiny 2's Tower is "on the feature list" for Helldivers 2's successor, developer Arrowhead has indicated. Helldivers 2 uses spaceships as a small staging area where up to three players can prepare for missions, fussing over their appearance and loadouts. There is no larger scale social hub, which some fans have called for Arrowhead to consider given the social nature of Helldivers 2's community-driven galactic war. When a fan suggested on Discord that they would "really appreciate a social hub space station (like the tower in Destiny)," Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani responded with an unequivocal: "it's on the feature list for the next one." That sounds pretty definitive, but we still have no idea when...
Warning: Minor spoilers for Hollow Knight: Silksong follow. At some point in your journey through Pharloom, the setting of Hollow Knight: Silksong, you may have the misfortune of running into a shrouded, wormlike bug called Greyroot. Hiding in a hole in Shellwood, an area located above The Marrow, she asks you to bring her a Twisted Bud – a “contorted mass of ashen vine” that “cries out incessantly,” as per its item description. When you give it to her, she tells you it’s weak, that it “must be nourished” before “the time of birth approaches.” Although she never mentioned a reward, previous fetch quests taught you to expect one. But to your surprise, Greyroot doesn’t hand you shards or rosaries. Instead, she wraps her body around you...
The creators of high-profile mod Skyblivion have insisted they're still targeting a 2025 release date despite the exit of some of the volunteer developers behind the fan project and allegations of crunch. Volunteer developers who had been donating their time to Skyblivion, the hotly anticipated mod for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition, have stepped away from the project, alleging "crunch" culture and "fake polish" that they believe they were "never gonna be allowed to achieve." Skyblivion — the upcoming fan remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion made by the TESRenewal volunteer modding group — recently dropped its first update since the release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered in April, confirming the...
Hollow Knight: Silksong is a hard game — that much is clear. Indeed its difficulty is one of the main talking points in the days since Team Cherry’s hotly anticipated sequel came out. But fans have discovered there’s a secret mode that actually makes the game harder. Warning! Spoilers for Hollow: Knight Silksong follow. Fans have found the unlockable Steel Soul Mode Permadeath using a variant of the famous Konami code. As IGN has detailed in our Hollow: Knight Silksong cheats and secrets guide page and in the video below, you activate this mode by going to the Extras option on the main menu then inputting the following sequence via the D-pad: Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right. If you're having trouble doing this, be...
Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus could have shown players even more of Adolf Hitler than expected — until a fateful set of messages between developer MachineGames and publisher Bethesda ensured the führer's penis was kept out of view. Speaking to Noclip, MachineGames co-founder and creative director Jens Matthies recalled working on the memorable The New Colossus scene where Hitler casts a propaganda film, and wanting to surprise players with "something they haven't seen before." The end result is an increasingly chaotic Hitler who does end up urinating in the scene — although, perhaps thankfully, players don't get to see everything. "We actually wanted to add another element — we wanted to actually show Hitler's penis as well, when...

Hollow Knight: Silksong developer Team Cherry has revealed details on the game’s first post-release patch, which it said mostly makes bug fixes and “slight” balance adjustments in the early game. In a post on Steam, the developer said patch 1.0.28470 is set for all players mid-next week, so around September 17. However, PC players can access this version right now via the public-beta branch on Steam or GOG. In terms of balance changes, it looks like the patch makes Silksong slightly easier, which will be welcome news to those who are struggling with the game. Silksong is one of the biggest launches of the year, hitting huge player concurrent numbers on Steam alongside a positive reception from critics. But amid the excitement over...
Single-player, story-based DLC that gives me an excuse to return to an impeccable single-player, story-based adventure that I adored the first time around? Unlike an out-of-his-depth Marcus Brody, MachineGames really knows how to speak my language. The Order of Giants is a roughly four-hour side quest for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle that’s heavy on puzzles and features a string of tremendously atmospheric caves, catacombs, and canals to explore through the belly of Rome. After not having visited The Great Circle for many months, I was quickly hooked all over again. Even if it’s just for an afternoon, The Order of Giants is an effective refresher on most of the things I love about MachineGames’ take on the finest fascist-hater to...
Looter shooter Borderlands 4 is almost here, jam-packed with gazillions of the weirdest weapons you'll ever see, outrageous enemies, and intense co-op action as you break free from a dangerous hidden planet as one of four new badass Vault Hunters. While plenty fell in love with Borderlands 3 and its improvements to the looter-shooter series' gunplay, others still struggle with its joke-fueled story and reliance on toilet humor. It will have been almost six years since its launch when Borderlands 4's September 12, 2025 release date arrives, with hopes to deliver a much more "grounded" story and tone this time around. Here's when the game will unlock for you in your timezone on your platform, as confirmed by Gearbox earlier this week...
Some weeks I log in expecting tumbleweeds, but the digital shelves are mighty stacked right now. There are deep cuts on genre-defining RPGs, chaotic party titles, and a few games that should be on your bucket list still. And now, without much further ado, let's scroll down into the mad savings specifics... Contents Retro Nintendo Xbox PlayStation PC LEGO This Day in Gaming 🎂 In retro news, I’ve made a big pop-up 10th bday card for Tearaway Unfolded, a platform adventure made entirely of vibrant folded paper. Back in the day, it felt like nothing else on PlayStation. Media Molecule gave us a toy box where the controller itself became part of the world. I remember swiping the touchpad to create gusts of wind, tilting to roll...
Square Enix has announced Octopath Traveler 0 will have town building placement limitations for some consoles when it launches for PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S this December. Details about hardware restrictions were revealed alongside full platform specifications for the Octopath Traveler prequel. It comes with information about what resolution and FPS PC and consoles can achieve, while warning players with older hardware that their HD-2D RPG experience may come with a few noticeable differences. PS5, Xbox Series X | S, and up-to-date PCs will support a maximum Town Building Placement Limit of 500. Those who play on Switch 2 and PS4, however, will see that building placement...
Amazon outlet Woot is offering a bunch of video games on sale right now, with some of 2025’s biggest releases on sale. Arguably, the biggest is Monster Hunter Wilds, which sees more than half of its MSRP sliced off with an Insect Glaive, bringing Capcom’s creature-slaying title down to just $29.99 on Xbox Series X. This Woot Deal Is Great for 2025 Game Releases In our review of Wilds, Tom Marks said “Monster Hunter Wilds continues to smooth off the rougher corners of the series in smart ways, making for some extremely fun fights but also lacking any real challenge.” While Monster Hunter has already sold out on Xbox, there are other deals, too. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge on PS4 is down to $9.99, a saving of...
Aside from a confused, misguided mish-mash of different and poorly executed ideas that take turns setting up rakes for itself to step on, Lost Soul Aside is an enjoyable character action game. I’ve had a blast in battles and boss fights, but too often in between them I had to slog through a repetitive story plagued with unmemorable characters, levels peppered with awkward platforming, and puzzles that would make the shape-matching challenges you’d give to a toddler look like rocket science, all disguised in a deceptively flashy package. Originality is fleeting in games, a medium where ideas and innovations blur the line between craft, technology, business, and art. That’s especially true in the ever-wider tent of high-budget fantasy...
Drop into Eggspedition's unknown planets and try to successfully extract with the valuable eggs you seek in this first-person co-op shooter – but don't think for a second that the dinosaurs these eggs belong to won't come looking for you. Eggspedition puts you into the boots of a member of Vector Unit 9, a second-to-none task force pushing the boundaries of space and taking on mysterious missions. Your latest mission drops you onto – you guessed it – a dinosaur planet, but there's no turning back now. The only rule is "No egg, no evac." You'll explore a variety of planets, face everything from velociraptors to T-rexes, use your earned-in-game credits to upgrade your weapons and gear from match to match, and, as developer Wildflame...
I have some good news and some bad news for retro gamers. The good news is that LEGO has released an awesome set that re-creates the classic SEGA Genesis controller (see it at LEGO Store). It even houses an incredibly cool Sonic the Hedgehog easter egg. That’s the good news. The bad news is, it’s only available between now and September 17, and to get this set, you have to spend $130+ at the LEGO Store. Set Number: 40769 Price: N/A (only available as Gift with Purchase) Ages: 18+ Pieces: 260 Dimensions: over 3.5 in. (10 cm) high, 5.5 in. (15 cm) wide and 1 in. (3 cm) deep That’s because the LEGO SEGA Genesis Controller set is a Gift With Purchase. GWP sets are generally smaller sets that are not available to purchase separately...
Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards are dropping back down in price, and fortunately that means prebuilt gaming PCs are becoming more affordable as well. Currently, Walmart is offering the Acer Nitro 60 gaming PC, featuring an Intel Core i7 CPU and GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU, for just $1,799.99 with free delivery. This is one of the lowest prices I've seen for a well-equipped 5070 Ti prebuilt with a generous amount of RAM and SSD storage out of the box. Get your first look at developer Chronospace's revamped War Mechanic, a single-player alternate-history "what if the Manhattan Project had been sabotaged?" action-adventure game where you must survive, pilot your combat car, deal with NPCs that have their own agendas, and build up your base. The reworked War Mechanic brings in Narrative Designers Jacek Komuda and Maciej Jurewicz (The Witcher 1 and 2) as players take on the role of Jack Wallace, a mechanic stranded on the war-torn Nordook Island. “Bringing in veteran storytellers let a young team grow up fast," said Co-Producer Rafał Lewkowicz. "The vision is the same—now it’s precise, readable, and worth fighting for.” On the island, you'll rebuild your base, modify your guns and...
Sometimes you sit down at a game with no idea what to expect. That was how I felt when I got my first hands-on time with Digimon Story: Time Stranger at Summer Game Fest. I’m a lapsed Digimon fan, someone who liked the franchise a lot as a kid and then just fell off as I got older. But when I played Time Stranger, I quickly realized I had to pay attention. This was a JRPG with some good ideas. So when I got the shot at an even longer preview (about four hours) at PAX West, I took it, because I wanted to see if that initial impression held water. And I’m happy to say that I think it does. Digimon Story: Time Stranger seems to get the Digimon series, but there’s also the foundation of a really good JRPG here, too. I mean the kind that you...
Hollow Knight: Silksong is finally here—and it’s cheaper than anyone expected. The surprise drop sent digital storefronts spiralling into chaos, with players staring at Steam’s (admittedly adorable) error monsters as servers crumbled. The first game was popular, sure, but nobody saw this level of hype coming. This time, you play as Hornet, a swift and agile warrior who fights with a needle and stitches herself together to heal. The tone is familiar: dark and oppressive, yet offset by irresistibly charming characters and creatures. That clash of cute and grim creates the same strange magic that defined Hollow Knight’s world. Silksong, though, is faster and sharper. Hornet’s diagonal downward strike demands more precision, ledge-grabbing...
Gearbox development chief Randy Pitchford has said the inbound Borderlands 4 Day 1 patch “does a lot,” amid concern about the performance of the looter shooter. Pitchford responded to concern about Borderlands 4’s pre-release performance on PC from some users on X / Twitter, confirming not only that there’s a Day 1 patch on the way, but that it sounds pretty much essential to play the game. Borderlands 4 has an official release date of September 12 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, with the Nintendo Switch 2 launch following shortly after. Fans will be keen to jump in as soon as possible, making the Day 1 patch an early hoop to jump through. Despite the Day 1 patch, playing...
Details surrounding Cyberpunk 2 are scarce, but fans of Cyberpunk 2077 can rest assured that the game's biggest star is down to return if given the opportunity. Speaking with IGN while promoting his upcoming movie Good Fortune, Keanu Reeves said that he wants to be part of the sequel to CD Projekt's 2020 game. “Absolutely. I’d love to play Johnny Silverhand again," Reeves said when asked if he’d be interested in revisiting his legendary rockstar terrorist character in Cyberpunk 2. Reeves's love-affair with the Cyberpunk community began with his viral "you're breathtaking" moment at E3 2019. Reeves, on-stage to announce the release date of Cyberpunk 2077, was interrupted by a fan who shouted out "you're breathtaking!" Reeves' response...
Amazon's announcement of a Life is Strange TV adaptation has prompted the video game's original writer Christian Divine to comment that "the only people not involved are the creators." Divine served as lead writer on Life is Strange, which was created by French studio Don't Nod back in 2015. The narrative adventure launched to a warm response and earned itself a loyal fan audience, prompting Divine to return for the game's 2019 sequel. But no mention was made of Divine or anyone else who worked on the original game in Amazon's announcement last week, which instead noted that the adaptation would be produced by Square Enix, the publisher and rights owner of the Life is Strange franchise, as well as LuckyChap, a film and TV production...
MachineGames seemingly hasn't finished with its Wolfenstein series just yet. While it's been over half a decade since we last punched a Nazi in Wolfenstein: Youngblood, studio head Jerk Gustafsson has hinted the team would very much like to go back to the Wolfenstein universe to tie up BJ Blazkowicz's story. While both Youngblood and the 2019 VR title Cyberpilot touched on the wider Blazkowicz family's fortunes, we haven't actually played as series stalwart Blazkowicz since 2017's The New Colossus. And it's BJ's story that seems to intrigue Gustafsson most — in fact, it seems Blazkowicz's story was always meant to be told in three parts. In a new interview with Noclip, Gustafsson said the team had "always seen [BJ's story] as a...
Hollow Knight: Silksong is one of the biggest launches of the year, hitting huge player concurrent numbers on Steam alongside a positive reception from critics. But amid the excitement over Team Cherry’s long awaited sequel is a debate within the community about whether the game is too hard — perhaps even unfairly so. So it comes as no surprise to see Silksong’s early days mods dominated by those which make the game easier. Over the weekend, we reported on how some Silksong players were expressing criticism across social media, subreddits, Discords, and Steam reviews about the game’s difficulty scaling and brutal runbacks. There’s even one very early miniboss causing a lot of players a whole heap of trouble, too. “Is it just me, or...
Despite a healthy 'Mostly Positive' review score on Steam and a concurrent user count high enough to make a AAA game blush with envy, Hollow Knight: Silksong's Chinese players are seemingly less impressed by the highly-anticipated sequel. While the Steam user review rating from players experiencing the game in English, French, German, and Polish are 'Very Positive,' and Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian reviews are 'Overwhelmingly Positive,' players using simplified Chinese have brought the score down to 'Mostly Negative' for that language, chiefly because of issues with the translation. After tens of thousands of Chinese players left negative reviews, dragging Silksong's overall Steam user review rating down to 76% positive, Team...
While Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has helped push developer Saber Interactive to another level, it already had a monster hit under its belt: World War Z. World War Z is a co-op third-person shooter developed and published by Saber in 2019 as a loosely based adaptation of the 2006 novel World War Z, and set in the same universe as the 2013 Brad Pitt blockbuster. Saber used its Swarm Engine to render large hordes of zombies in World War Z, and again but with Tyranids in last year’s Space Marine 2. The technology is being used once again for Saber’s 2026 release, John Carpenter's Toxic Commando. In an interview with IGN at gamescom 2025, Saber development chief Tim Willits said 30 million people had played World War Z since launch...
Welcome back to yet another week of being unable to resist clicking Add To Cart. Discounts this steep are basically permission slips from the gaming gods, and I’ve spotted some gems worth locking in.
