What Is Crimson Desert? This Fantasy-Steampunk Open World Isn’t As Strange as You May Think
It’s been almost six years since Crimson Desert was first revealed to the world. Across that period, developer Pearl Abyss has shown off a huge array of ideas, mechanics, and boss battles. It’s frequently been cited as something of an “everything game” – an open world adventure with sky islands, mechanical dragons, wrestling moves, interdimensional gateways, interacting elemental effects, and even a Spider-Man web swing. But the more that’s been revealed, the more there’s been the sense that Crimson Desert may be a lot of pieces in need of a whole. Finding that whole was my main objective when I visited Pearl Abyss’ studio in Seoul for this month’s IGN First. And while I can’t say I’ve found it yet, multiple hours of hands-on playtime...

Borderlands 4 Just Got Its Biggest Discount Yet in the Build Up to the Black Friday Sales
Black Friday discounts are yet to officially start for Amazon, but that hasn't stopped the retailer from already cutting prices on big new releases like Borderlands 4, which only launched a little over a month ago. At 21% off, it's a fairly reasonable saving on Gearbox’s open-world loot shooter, bringing the PS5 and Xbox versions down to just $54.99 right on the cusp of the November sales. While our reviewer and loot shooter aficionado, Travis Northup, felt the open world wasn’t quite as open as it could be, he still gave the game a recommendable 8 out of 10. “Borderlands 4 gives the series the massive kick in the pants it has needed, with a fantastic open world and greatly improved combat, even if bugs and invisible walls can...
Leaked Screenshots of Canceled Multiplayer God of War Game Tease A Return to Greece and an Infamous Former Villain
Details and images of Sony's canceled live-service multiplayer God of War game have leaked online. At the beginning of the year, Sony canceled two unannounced live-service games that were in development at Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games, with the latter thought to be a multiplayer God of War game. Now, a number of screenshots reportedly taken from the canceled project have been published by MP1st, hinting that the game may have be set in Greece once again and feature a range of diverse backdrops, including caverns and temples. Two screenshots, purportedly of Hades' Armory, apparently show the same area in different states, one 'normal' and the other seemingly infected by a curse or otherworld state with rust-colored stains. Hades...

Stray is French studio BlueTwelve’s third-person cat adventure game set in the neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly. Battle Arena Toshinden, the Forgotten PS1 Fighting Game Series, to Get Re-Release on Modern Consoles
PlayStation 1-era 3D fighting game series Battle Arena Toshinden is getting a long-awaited re-release. Tokyo-based publishing company Edia announced today that it will release Toshinden 1, 2 and 3 on current gen consoles in 2026-2027. Originally released in 1995, Battle Arena Toshinden was a PS1 launch title in the U.S. and PAL regions, and the first 3D fighting game to hit Sony’s debut console. Featuring an initial roster of eight playable characters, it featured weapon-based fighting and ring-outs a year before the Soul Blade/Soul Calibur series came along and built upon these elements. According to Edia’s press release, it plans to re-release the PS1 versions of Battle Arena Toshiden 1, 2 and 3 on current gen consoles as part of a...
'It’s About Making Sure the Pacing Feels Right' — Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Director Clarifies He Is Not Cutting Content
Final Fantasy VII Remake series director Naoki Hamaguchi has clarified that while he recently assured fans that Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 would "strike a balance" when it came to pacing and be "more concise," that didn't mean he would change anything about Rebirth's pacing. As we reported last week, the director reflected on criticism of the series's pacing and lengthy instalments. Asked if he agreed with the feedback that "certain sections" in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth felt a little long, he disagreed, saying: "Regarding time management in certain sections, especially in FF7 Rebirth, I honestly don’t believe that they were longer than necessary. I feel like nowadays, players just have too much to do and too much to play; so they...
The White House Wades Into the Console Wars, Releases AI Image of Donald Trump as Master Chief Saluting in Front of an American Flag That Contains a B
Microsoft’s announcement that Halo: Campaign Evolved is coming to PlayStation is the final nail in the coffin for the Xbox exclusive, and for some marks the end of the console wars. Now, the White House has waded in with an AI image of Donald Trump as a saluting Master Chief that, well… there’s something very wrong about it. For the uninitiated, Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the campaign of 2001’s Halo: Combat Evolved, is due out on Xbox Series X and S, PC, and PlayStation 5 at some point in 2026. It is the first Halo game ever to launch on a PlayStation console, and cements Microsoft’s position as a multiplatform video game developer. The idea of a Halo game on a PlayStation console would have been outrageous before, say, a...
'I Made It Right and They Are Breaking It for No Reason' — One of the Key Members of the Original Halo Dev Team Doesn't Sound Thrilled With Microsoft'
Microsoft has finally unveiled Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the campaign portion of Bungie’s beloved Halo: Combat Evolved. Halo fans have spent most of the weekend debating the changes Halo Studios has made for this upcoming 2026 shooter, from the addition of sprint to the more pristine art style. But what do the developers of Halo: Combat Evolved itself make of the remake? Jaime Griesemer is one of the key developers behind Halo. He was most involved with designing Halo’s famous ‘30 seconds of fun’ gameplay loop and designed much of the campaign itself. Now creative director at Highwire Games (Six Days in Fallujah), Griesemer took to X / Twitter to deliver an early verdict on gameplay footage coming out of Microsoft’s Halo...
AU Deals: Discounted Zelda, Monster Huntin', and Silent Hill Are Back on the Must-own Menu
Some days (and indeed this day) it feels like the universe conspires to drain my wallet. Between Nintendo nostalgia, Xbox epics, PlayStation powerhouses, and PC throwbacks, today's round of bargains certainly has something for anyone who’s ever said, “Why the hell not? I'm worth it.” That being said, let's all go pay very little for a lot of great escapism. This weekend, you can save $10 off the release for either PS5 or Xbox Series X. In our 8/10 review, we wrote, "Between its old-school stealth-action gameplay and engaging spy-thriller story, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater largely succeeds as a faithful, visually impressive remake of the 2004 classic." ‘They Complained, Then Left With the Best Exclusivity Deal of All Time’ – The Story of PS2’s Blockbuster GTA Deal
Pints of beer after work in a cosy London pub. A glass of wine in the evening at a villa in the Sunset Marquis hotel, West Hollywood. A phone call in the dark outside a Chinese restaurant in Windsor, England. These three disparate scenes, all more than 5,000 miles from Sony's headquarters in Tokyo, were backdrops for a decision that helped define the PlayStation 2, Sony's landmark console that celebrates its 25th anniversary today. It's the best-selling console of all time for well-documented reasons: its massive library, its headstart on the Xbox, its mid-life price cut, and its affordability as a DVD player. But the deal that brought a trio of Grand Theft Auto games – GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas – to the PS2 before any other...
Halo: Campaign Evolved Announced for Xbox, PC, and Yes, PS5 – Here’s Everything We Know So Far, Including New Missions
Microsoft and Halo Studios have just announced Halo: Campaign Evolved, an Unreal Engine 5 remake of the 2001 original-Xbox launch-day classic, Halo: Combat Evolved. I played a short demo of it already, so be sure to check out my first impressions, but here we’ll go through everything we do and don’t yet know about 2026’s Halo release – which will be the first one since 2021’s Halo Infinite. Did you say “remake”? Yes, I asked Halo Studios point-blank if this is a remake or a remaster, and Executive Producer Damon Conn said, “It’s a modernized remake – a rebuilt version of the classic story that started it all.” Since Microsoft has been publishing a lot of games on other platforms, does this mean Halo will be coming to PlayStation 5...

In our 8/10 review, we wrote, “Ball Over Everything” is a fitting description for NBA 2K26. Full Metal Schoolgirl Review
First impressions matter, right? Full Metal Schoolgirl throws you into its third-person shooter action shortly after a blazing fast anime-inspired opening to the tune of a J-rock banger. It immediately establishes its irreverent attitude and goofy anti-capitalist satire in a futuristic world where robots are exploited and referred to as "the working dead" – and with the goal of taking down a CEO villain, I thought to myself, "Hell yeah." But about halfway through a second run of this roguelike, it dawned on me that there just wasn't much to Full Metal Schoolgirl; it’s a dull and repetitive shooter whose gameplay foundations aren't quite good enough to save it from the largely tedious, unrewarding grind up its 100-floor tower. During...
Gaming Laptops Are a Better Deal Than The Xbox Ally X
We’re fresh off the release of the Xbox Ally X, and it doesn’t seem like handheld gaming PCs are going anywhere anytime soon. At least for me, handhelds have become my go-to way of playing my Steam – among other PC game stores – library when I’m not at my desk. In a lot of ways, these little devices have replaced much of what I used gaming laptops for, especially during a commute or a short trip. This makes me wonder: why would you buy a gaming laptop in 2025 when PC gaming handhelds are getting more powerful and portable year after year? If all you’re looking for is an alternate device to play your games on the go, the prospects for gaming laptops seem to be thinning. However, now that handheld gaming PCs are getting more expensive...
Halo: Campaign Evolved Is the Final Nail in the Coffin for the Xbox Exclusive — but in Truth the PS5 Version Comes as No Surprise
Halo, once the flagship Xbox exclusive, the video game Microsoft launched its first console with, has finally jumped ship. Microsoft has announced Halo: Campaign Evolved — a remake of the original game’s campaign — and it’s coming to PlayStation 5 day one. The Unreal Engine 5 remake of the Bungie-developed 2001 campaign is set for launch in 2026 on PC, Xbox Series X and S, and, crucially, PS5. It is the first new Halo game since 2021’s Halo Infinite, and the first Halo ever to release on a PlayStation console. IGN has played Halo: Campaign Evolved and has all the details right here, including first info on the new three-mission prequel story arc. And yes, if you were wondering, there’s crossplay, which means Xbox, PC, and PlayStation...
Halo: Campaign Evolved Is a Pretty Remake Coming to PS5, but Not an Exact One
I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect when I sat down in front of an Xbox Series X to play an early demo of Halo: Campaign Evolved, the just-announced Unreal Engine 5 remake of the original-Xbox killer app (and yes, it’s a proper remake, not a remaster like Halo Anniversary was). And I’m honestly still not sure exactly how I feel about it after playing it. I definitely wanted to be blown away by the visuals, in the same way that the original Halo: Combat Evolved knocked my socks off back in 2001. Heck, we know Unreal Engine 5 is fully capable! I also didn’t want Halo Studios (nee 343 Industries) to mess with too much. Or did I? Would Halo 1 just feel old no matter what? And will PlayStation 5 gamers even care about this 25-year-old Xbox...
Halo Project Update 2025: Everything Announced (Updating Live)
Halo is looking for a fresh start, and today’s 2025 Halo Project Update livestream could give it just that. Nearly four years removed from the launch of Halo Infinite, gaming fans from every corner of the industry are looking to today’s Halo World Championship 2025 festivities for a sneak peek at the future of the flagship Xbox franchise. What exactly the developers at Halo Studios (formerly known as 343 Industries) have cooking remains to be seen, but judging by a tease shared late last month, it sounds like the Halo universe could soon head into uncharted territory. “Like last year we’ll be on the Main Stage to talk about it but this year we’ve also got a ‘deep dive’ panel planned for the Community Stage that you won’t want to...
Battlefield 6 Battle Royale Official Name and Release Date Reportedly Leak Online
Battlefield 6 appears to have suffered yet another leak, this time relating to its battle royale. According to ModernWarzone, which has a track record of accurate reporting around unannounced video game information, particularly in relation to Call of Duty, the Battlefield 6 battle royale is called Battlefield: RedSec. ModernWarzone also reported that it’s free-to-play and is due out on October 28, the same day Battlefield 6 Season 1 is set to launch. Given EA and Battlefield Studios are yet to make any announcements about this so close to that date, a shadowdrop is expected. While EA is yet to comment on this particular leak, it’s seen various gameplay clips emerge from playtests of the battle royale. And today it outlined gameplay...

How Ninja Gaiden’s Razer Sharp Gameplay Still Influences Games Today
From the series’ earliest 2D entries, to Ryu's critically acclaimed foray into 3D, Ninja Gaiden has hacked and slashed its way to the top of the hyper-violent action games genre. And while countless ninja games have been released since the 1988 NES original, Ninja Gaiden still remains relevant nearly 40 years later. But why is that? Let’s take a look back to when this series found its core game design DNA, with its early use of cinematics, narrative-driven gameplay, and innovation in difficult but rewarding challenges (not to mention, one of the sickest finishers ever in a video game.) From there, we’ll chart the course of Ninja Gaiden to see how it has kept its blade sharp over the decades, and why it remains one of the most...
Assassin's Creed Shadows Finally Has an Official Nintendo Switch 2 Release Date and a Price
After a number of leaks, Ubisoft has finally made it official: Assassin's Creed Shadows will release for Nintendo Switch 2 on December 2 priced $59.99 / £49.99. The Nintendo Switch 2 version includes all content updates introduced since the game’s release, as well as cross progression across all platforms and touch screen support, "making navigation of menus, maps, and the hideout more intuitive than ever." Ubisoft has also confirmed Assassin's Creed Shadows is Game-Key Card game, which means Switch 2 players will have to download the game before they can play. Game-Key Cards have sparked a vociferous debate because they're essentially useless unless your console is connected to the internet. In September, a Ubisoft developer who...

Bounty Star Review
Do you remember the worst day of your life? It’s okay; you don’t have to answer. I do. I was doing something I loved, I made a mistake, and a story someone else told about it for their own purposes cost me almost everything I had. People I thought were my friends walked out of my life, doors slammed shut in my face, and everything I’d worked for evaporated. My family resorted to communication by postcard because I refused to answer the phone, and I spent the next two years contemplating suicide before finally finding some semblence of peace. Nearly a decade later, those moments, that mistake – such a little thing, really – impacts every aspect of my life. I spend a lot of time grappling with that, wondering if I’ll ever be the person I...

Tormented Souls 2 Review
With its unsettling backdrops and detailed worldbuilding, Tormented Souls 2 may look like a contemporary horror game, but don't let that modern dressing fool you. At its core beats the blackened heart of stone-cold classics like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, with all the treats — and tricks — that both endeared me to and enraged me about these formulaic survival horror games when they first gained popularity. Fixed camera angles? Check. Tank controls? Check. Insanely complex puzzles and an even more bizarre story, complete with cheesy dialogue and a manual save system? Check, check, check, and check. It makes Tormented Souls 2 a surprisingly faithful homage, bringing back all the stuff I loved about old survival horror games… as well...
Fallout 76 Is Finally Getting Native Versions for Xbox Series X and S and PS5 Early 2026
Bethesda has announced native versions of Fallout 76 are coming to Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation 5 early 2026. The announcement came as part of Bethesda's Fallout Day broadcast, which also brought news that “optimizations” are coming for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players, too. Bethesda didn't reveal any more info on what these new versions of Fallout 76 actually do. However, Bethesda did use Fallout Day to show more of Fallout 76’s Burning Springs update, which is due out December 2, 2025. This is the big update that expands the map to include a brand-new arid region in Ohio, where players will encounter the raider-like supermutant Rust King, battle desert Deathclaws, and join up with friends in two new public events. But the...
