Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon has revealed his wishlist for future guest characters in the fighting game series.
In a new interview with Collider while promoting the Mortal Kombat 2 movie, Boon confirmed another Mortal Kombat game is being planned at NetherRealm, but failed to share details. However, when asked which guest characters he wanted to see in the future, he mentioned Street Fighter, which, if it were to actually happen, would finally provide fighting game fans with the crossover they've been waiting 30 years for.
“I would love to see a Street Fighter character in Mortal Kombat. I’m a huge fan of Street Fighter,” Boon said. "We’ve had Joker as a really dark character, but DC and Marvel, it would be a lot of fun to see...
The long-awaited Mortal Kombat 2 movie is finally upon us, and with it, our first introduction to Karl Urban’s version of beloved character, Johnny Cage. But what convinced him to take the part?
IGN recently spoke to Urban, star of The Boys and The Lord of the Rings, and asked him exactly that. His answer was somewhat surprising, considering all the previous versions of the cocky, Hollywood character Cage that we’ve come to know and love/hate.
“I think what made this project an easy yes for me [was] when I read the script and saw that Jeremy [Slater, MK2’s writer] had quite wisely steered away from making the character that classic ego-driven Johnny Cage that we just know from all the plethora of games and movies,” Urban explained...
I’ve long been of the opinion that PC gamers get the best deals overall. Obviously, console games go on sale, but PC games can drop to wildly low prices that PlayStation, Xbox – and certainly Nintendo – games never reach.
As if to prove my theory correct, May’s Humble Choice bundle is now live, with eight PC games worth $282 available in a bundle for just $14.99. The games in this month’s offering include Diablo IV, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, and more. It’s a terrific lineup of games, available for way less than you’d ever be able to get them otherwise. Let’s dive in.
Humble Choice May 2026
Diablo IV (Battle.net)
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (Steam)
Crysis 3 Remastered (Steam)
Heroes of Hammerwatch II (Steam)

Ubisoft has announced Heredis, a "spectacular new stage experience" set within the world of Assassin's Creed, that's set to debut later this year.
The two-hour show will feature circus artists, acrobats and dancers from Les 7 Doights (The 7 Fingers) company in a "high-energy" performance that features "urban parkour, choreographed combat and physical feats within large-scale immersive environments drawn from Assassin's Creed games," Ubisoft stated in a press release today.
Details on the show's plot and how it will actually link to the Assassin's Creed games is thin on the ground, though artwork for the show features a character who looks a lot like Desmond, leaping through the air against an Ancient Greek backdrop from Assassin's...
Ubisoft has criticized the posting of a leaked screenshot from its under-wraps multiplayer Assassin's Creed game, which had been altered using AI.
Last night, Assassin's Creed leaker j0nathan posted an image that supposedly revealed Assassin's Creed Invictus, the franchise's multiplayer spinoff announced by Ubisoft back in 2022 that we've seen nothing of since.
The screenshot shows a character in historical clothing, standing in what looks to be an arena. However, the environment is clearly far from finished — it's obvious this version of the game is still very much in development.
"Alright, here's a little gift: here's a first image of Assassin's Creed Invictus!" j0nathon wrote. "A big part of the game isn't textured yet, so don't...
NetherRealm development chief Ed Boon has confirmed another Mortal Kombat video game is in the works, as rumors continue to point to Injustice 3 being the studio’s next game.
The fighting game developer is heavily rumored to be preparing an announcement for Injustice 3, which would be another sequel in NetherRealm’s DC fighting game franchise. In September 2024, Boon, who is currently on the road promoting the release of Mortal Kombat 2 in theaters, revealed that the studio had decided its next game back in 2021. At the time, Boon said NetherRealm was “still fully committed to supporting Mortal Kombat 1 for a long time to come.” But just eight months later, Warner Bros. Games confirmed no new DLC characters or story chapters would be...
Beleaguered MindsEye developer Build a Rocket Boy has reportedly been rocked by another round of redundancies at the studio, according to Kotaku. This marks the third time the studio has been struck with layoffs in the past year.
While Build a Rocket Boy is yet to publicly comment on the layoffs, Kotaku reports that sources have indicated that around 170 staff have been impacted, and that the studio is now hovering at approximately 80 remaining employees.
A number of Build a Rocket Boy staff have subsequently been spotted referencing “the latest redundancies” at the studio in LinkedIn posts announcing they’ve been unfortunately laid off, including senior game designer James Tyler, audio designer Tom Cross, and more. Several members of...
Playground Games has officially clarified the graphics and performance modes that will be available in Forza Horizon 6’s Xbox Series X|S version when it drops at the end of next week. The information arrived in a larger post also containing details of the game’s radio stations, as well as several accessibility features.
Both the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S will feature two different rendering modes – Quality and Performance – which you’ll be able to toggle between depending on your preference for either graphical quality or a higher framerate.
On Xbox Series X, Quality mode will run Forza Horizon 6 in native 4K resolution at 30fps, while Performance mode targets 4K, but will scale resolution dynamically in order to remain...
IO Interactive has assured fans that there will be more Hitman adventures, and the team is eager to return to the franchise.
IO Interactive's entire history is built on the back of Agent 47 and the Hitman franchise. The studio has explored other games like Freedom Fighters and Kane and Lynch, but Hitman has been ol' reliable for the Danish developer. By the end of this month, IO Interactive will have developed and released 13 games over the course of 26 years, with 007 First Light being the latest. Hitman makes up more than half of the studio's released games. Many have wondered whether or not the studio's newfound fascination with James Bond will lead to Hitman's demise, but that's not the case.
IO Interactive has noted many times...
Diablo 4 fans have finally discovered the game's secret cow level, though some fans are a bit underwhelmed by it.
If you're not a Diablo fan, you may be thinking to yourself, "What the heck is the secret cow level?" The lore runs pretty deep here, but in short, players of the original Diablo game created a rumor about a secret level that featured demonic cows. While this was nothing more than a hoax, Blizzard found it amusing and eventually made it a reality. Subsequent Diablo installments included secret cow levels, which prompted players to complete elaborate Easter eggs to unlock dungeons that featured killer bovines. If players defeated them, they'd get a bunch of loot.
For years, players have been searching for Diablo 4's secret...
Just this week, Valve launched the Steam Controller on its own, despite it initially being planned for launch at the same time as the Steam Machine and the Steam Frame. But, it looks like Valve has been getting a lot of shipments of 'game consoles'. Could this mean an imminent Steam Machine launch?
This all comes via Twitter user Brad Lynch, or @SadlyitsBradley, who noticed the uptick in Valve's imports on NBD Data, a shipping analysis platform. It appears that over the last couple of weeks, Valve has received multiple shipments of mysterious 'game consoles' from China, which suggests the company is building up for a release sometime in the near future.
It is entirely possible that these shipments are just a giant Steam Deck...
Beastlink just got announced, and it looks like pure monster madness. You get to play as both the monster hunters and the kaiju, laying waste to the sandbox environments, which have all been built with developer Grove Street’s proprietary SuperDestruction physics-based system. The multiplayer game will launch with four different kaiju, the Horned Lizard, the Bull Shark, the Vampire Bat, and the Mandrill.
There's vehicular combat, urban maps to wreck - with 250,000 destructible objects, no less - where the ultimate aim is to collect enough resources to support fuel an experimental procedure to Link with sleeping kaiju. According to the developer "once the BeastLink is established, the perspective shifts from tactical survival to...

Ubisoft has released a deep dive look at the parkour, stealth and combat features found in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced — and most importantly, given fans a look at the game with its blood effects enabled.
Last month, Ubisoft offered fans a tantalizing look at Black Flag Resynced, its ground-up remake of the franchise's beloved pirate entry. While much of what was shown went down very well with viewers, questions were asked of why the footage lacked any blood.
Regardless of the reason, Ubisoft's new blog post that goes into more granular detail on several of Black Flag Resynced's systems has plenty of bloody gushes, spurts and sprays as pirate hero Edward Kenway stabs, slices and skewers his foes.
One other notable reveal...
If I’m being honest, I must say that I didn’t exactly love the way that the last run of Bond films wrapped up. To be clear, I’m not down on Daniel Craig. In fact, like many fans, I’m of the opinion that he's the best to ever take the role – but there’s no question that his five-film run as 007 had more ups and downs than an Aston Martin’s ejector seat. Casino Royale and Skyfall are surely two of the very best entries in the entire 60-year canon, but Quantum of Solace was undercooked, Spectre was one Fat Bastard away from being an Austin Powers-style parody, and although No Time to Die course-corrected to some extent, its bloated length and bleak tone has meant that I haven’t felt the need to return to it since its 2021 release. No Time...
The best rhythm games are Combo Mad. They let you express yourself, alter your play, match the beat to your tools and show off. They’re not all this way, of course. But the good ones – the ones that get that music isn’t just playing the right notes in the right order – have more in common with Devil May Cry and your favorite fighting game than you might think. Dead as Disco, a literal beat ‘em up from developer Brain Jar Games, is as comfortable in that space as a well-worn leather jacket. Even at its Early Access launch, it’s got the sick licks, fancy footwork, and consummate style to be a real contender. There are a couple parts of this album that I don’t love, but it’s about as close to being all killer no filler as an in-progress...
Microsoft has confirmed the Xbox Game Pass May 2026 Wave 1 lineup, and it’s full of big hitters.
As detailed in a post on Xbox Wire, May is headlined by Playground’s hotly anticipated Forza Horizon 6, which as a Microsoft title releases straight into Game Pass day one on May 19 across Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. But there are a number of other major games coming to Game Pass this month, including the day one release of Mixtape, the next game from the developer of The Artful Escape, and, on May 14, the troubled but still hotly anticipated Subnautica 2.
But the day one releases don't stop there. We also have Square Glade Games' cozy open-world exploration game Outbound on May 11, and Out of the Blue Games' Lovecraftian...
It pains me to say that it has been over a decade since Arkham Knight launched and we’re still waiting for another truly excellent Batman game to take up its mantle. After Bruce Wayne-adjacent disappointments in Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, it’s understable why so many have seen Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight’s counter-based combat and immediately pinned their hopes on the line drawn between it and Rocksteady’s phenomenal trilogy.
The comparison is not unfair. After playing two-and-a-half hours at a recent preview event, it’s clear that Legacy of the Dark Knight is something of a “Diet Arkham”. I say that very much as a compliment; it’s got a similarly detailed open world with dozens of...
To mark the launch of Wolf With Inn from indie developer Thundertale Studio, we got the chance to ask some questions to lead artist Alice, and narrative designer Arina, about where the inspiration for the game came from, how they balance cozy playstyle with the dark setting and the one feature they think players will be surprised about.
How would you describe Wolf With Inn to new players?
Arina: At first glance, Wolf With Inn seems like a meditative, dark cozy game about a werewolf innkeeper in the remote wilderness. And it is! But if you look a little deeper, it becomes clear that the game is about the shadow self. It’s about the duality of human nature that many refuse to accept, often choosing to live in one of two extremes.

Call of Duty fans can breathe a sigh of relief as this year's entry will not release on last-gen consoles, so developers don't have to hold back.
Earlier this week, a rumor began to spread that the next Call of Duty game, rumored to be Modern Warfare 4, was being playtested on PlayStation 4. This caused some panic among fans, as the PS4 will be turning 13 around the time of the next Call of Duty game's release, and rumors indicate the PS6 is only a year or two away. Some feel like games are being held back by last-gen consoles, but Activision appears to be moving on from them.
The official Call of Duty X account has confirmed that the next Call of Duty is not in development for PlayStation 4, which presumably means it's also not in...
Fallout co-creator Tim Cain has shared his fear that some gamers are watching influencers just so they can be "handed an opinion from the online channel they're watching."
The game developer behind classic RPGs like Fallout and The Outer Worlds offered his perspective on where the gaming industry is at and where it's heading in a video uploaded to his main channel (as spotted by VGC). When responding to a question from a fan, he explained his take on how social media has affected both game development and how players consume gaming content online.
"Now, we're in the 2020s," Cain said, "and many gamers don't even look to influencers for reviews – they look to influencers to be told how to think about the games. So, people don't form...

There has been a ton of buzz around Dishonored's future, following a rather innocuous post on X.
Dishonored is easily one of the best stealth-action games out there. The Arkane-developed game made waves for its open-ended level design, allowing players to take down targets and complete objectives by combining their powers or using the world around them to their advantage. It also had an extremely unique setting with a steampunk-inspired aesthetic and a layered universe infested by a rat plague. There's not really anything else quite like it, which was recognized by fans and critics alike. IGN gave Dishonored a 9.2 back in 2012, and the game was showered in awards in addition to respectable sales.
A sequel followed in 2016 and was met...
Capcom wants players to know that old age won't keep Leon Kennedy out of games set after Resident Evil Requiem because he'll probably "still be a great character" even "when he's 70."
Fans were already worried that the 50-year-old survival horror hero may be getting too tired to show up for new entries in the series before his inclusion in the new game was revealed late last year. Following the events of Resident Evil Requiem, it's safe to say Leon was still in good enough shape to cut through more mutated villains, but Capcom has said that it's not afraid to bring him back for even more missions in the future.
Game director Koshi Nakanishi touched on the publisher's love for Leon during an all-encompassing interview with Eurogamer...

Resident Evil Requiem producer Masato Kumazawa has said Capcom sees the drama surrounding the DLSS 5 AI version of Grace Ashcroft as "a positive" because it proved Capcom "got the design right" the first time around.
Kumazawa offered a deep dive into the development of the latest entry in the classic survival horror franchise during an interview with Eurogamer. When asked if the team took anything away from the conversation regarding the controversial Nvidia technology, he said the negative reaction only served as proof that fans preferred Grace's original design.
"The fact a lot of players commented they really liked the original design of Grace and didn't want to see it changed was a positive," Kumazawa said without commenting on...
Resident Evil Requiem players were sad to see the Merchant left out of Leon's latest mission, but there's a new mod that should help those who miss running into Capcom's beloved, gravelly voiced vendor.
Resident Evil 4 is one of the most celebrated video games of all time, but part of what made it special is its cast of unforgettable characters, the Merchant included. Despite being a fan-favorite amongst fans of the survival horror series, this purple-robe-wearing salesman was swapped for a less quotable supply box in the ninth mainline Resident Evil game – until now.
Thanks to the work of Nexus Mods user fanteeek, Resident Evil Requiem players can now replace the box with the Merchant during the Leon sections of the story. A clip of...
It looks like Marathon won’t be left behind anytime soon, as Bungie has confirmed it has plans to evolve its story over at least "the next few years."
Creative director Julia Nardin teased the next steps for the former Halo developer's shiny new extraction shooter during an interview with GamesRadar. Although the multiplayer reboot is just shy of two months old, she said the team is confident enough to have at least a loose idea of what direction to take its narrative in the coming years.
"We know where we want to take the story over the next few years," Nardin said, "but I don't want to say it’s completely 'locked in' because it's important to us that our players be able to help shape it."
Bungie plopped players into the world of...
A new weekend has arrived, and today, you can save big on Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, 86: Eighty-Six Blu-ray, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, and more. Check out our top picks for Sunday, May 3, below.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties
Yakuza Kiwami 3 is on sale today for $39.99, marking the lowest we've seen this one yet. After years of fan demand for a remake, SEGA and RGG Studio delivered earlier this year with Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties. In our review, we wrote, "Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is a largely successful makeover of Yakuza 3. It finds fun new ways for Kiryu to engage with the orphans in his care, which both livens up the original game’s most boring bits and also made me more deeply invested in the...
