Those cursed (or, indeed, blessed) with the power of a vampire have no shortage of options when it comes to dominating their enemies. There are those fangs, of course, with the power to drain a creature of their life-giving blood. Or those knife-like claws, or the ability to transform into a powerful beast. If you were to count up all the ways – and you can, thanks to The Blood of Dawnwalker’s detailed Vrakhiri skill tree – you’d have 10 different abilities and 20 perks to consider. But vampirism is just one part of The Blood of Dawnwalker, and just one side of protagonist Coen. Rebel Wolves’ RPG features three different skill trees: witchcraft, swordmastery, and vampirism, each with their own unique collection of active abilities and...
GTA Online's next big update, The Kortz Center Heist, will officially release next week, and fans have already spotted a few Rockstar-related Easter eggs. Rockstar Games has confirmed that the new GTA Online update will be available starting July 14, and allow players to rob the prestigious Kort Center art museum. Mansion owners will utilize a new art studio as a heist preperation room and undergo a series of setup missions before the big finale. As with any heist, you'll have the option of going loud or quiet, but those who manage to complete the heist without raising suspicions will earn a significant amount of more money. Players will also be able to keep paintings and put them on display in their mansion. New paintings will be...
If you've ever wanted to operate Disneyland's classic Haunted Mansion ride, this game's for you. Introducing Scream Operator: Haunted House Manager, a game that, as the name suggests, lets you operate, manage, upgrade, and maintain a successful haunted house – all from the control booth of the ride. It's a 2D, pixel-art, top-down management sim where you'll operate your haunted house from the control booth – triggering pre-shows, dispatching ride vehicles, placing props and animatronics, sorting merchandise, upgrading your tech, paying the bills, and just surviving your shift. Oh, and of course the big goal: scare your guests! A playable...
Former Dragon Age lead writer David Gaider doesn't think BioWare's fantasy series will return while owned by publisher EA — though knows what he'd do if a fifth game was ever made. Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched to mixed reviews in late 2024 following a long and rocky development. The resulting fallout saw BioWare downsized and its remaining staff tasked with pre-production on the next Mass Effect, while much of the leadership behind The Veilguard were moved elsewhere within EA, or shown the door. With BioWare's sole remit now Mass Effect, the chances of another Dragon Age seem slim — with no chance at all before Mass Effect 5 arrives. (BioWare has made no mention of when that will happen, though IGN understands it is likely still...
We spent some hands-on time with upcoming survival adventure shooter Zeverland, which seems to be equal parts hardcore crafting/collecting and silly zombie-themed romp. In fact, the developers just told us that they will be pivoting away from a free-to-play MMO model and Zeverland will instead be a buy-to-play PvE survival crafting game. The team told us, “It will offer both a solo experience and co-op on private servers, so players can build and survive on their own or together with friends.” During Zeverland’s second playtest, we got a glimpse at the early game quests, the path to starting our own settlement, and dipped our toes into the deadly city raids, attempting to find valuable plunder while risking transformative zombie...
MindsEye developers who have lost their jobs will protest outside the studio’s office over what they have described as an “all-expenses-paid playtest day.” The IWGB Game Workers Union (the same union representing the fired GTA 6 developers), said the protest will take place outside Build a Rocket Boy’s Edinburgh, Scotland office this Saturday, July 11, at 11am local time. The union alleged BARB will fly fans into the studio to try out new features for MindsEye this weekend. The union said it will protest the studio’s decision to fund the event after mass layoffs over the last year, and amid wider disputes between workers and the company over alleged invasive employee surveillance, union blacklisting, and the handling of redundancies...
This week's devastating Xbox layoffs will have a "substantial and cascading effect" on Bethesda's development of The Elder Scrolls 6, multiple staff at the studio have told IGN. Speaking on condition of anonymity to protect their careers, current and former staff have told me that job losses across Bethesda Game Studios locations have removed more than 50 employees, including "key, high-performing people in the trenches" building the company's long-awaited Skyrim successor. This in turn, they say, has shattered morale, raised the risk of future development crunch, and increased the likelihood that the game's already far-off completion date will be delayed. Such is the strength of feeling among the tight-knit Bethesda team that, on...

From the full release date to the biggest gameplay changes, PC specifications, and the latest trailer, here’s everything you need to know about Palworld 1.0. Palworld 1.0 Release Date Palworld launches into 1.0 on July 10, 2026. The full release is available on PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, Mac via the Mac App Store...
Bonnie Tyler, the singer behind power ballad Total Eclipse of the Heart and rock epic Holding Out for a Hero, has died aged 75. A statement posted to Tyler’s official Facebook page says she died “unexpectedly” last night in hospital in Portugal. “Bonnie's family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for,” the statement reads. “We will issue a further statement shortly but for now ask for privacy to deal with this tragedy.” Tyler was rushed to a hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she lived, in May for emergency intestinal surgery, and was placed in an induced coma. Last month, Tyler emerged from the coma but...
Sony has reached a settlement with former developer Christopher Barrett, who it had accused of sexual misconduct. As a result of the settlement, Barrett will be added to the credits of recently released extraction shooter Marathon. Barrett, who was the original game director of Marathon, was fired after an internal misconduct investigation. Bloomberg reported that Barrett was fired in the spring of 2024 after he was accused by several female employees of inappropriate behavior. Barrett released a statement at the time saying, "I feel that I have always conducted myself with integrity and been respectful and supportive of my colleagues, many of whom I consider my closest friends. I never understood my communications to be unwanted and...
id Software was reportedly toying with a bunch of ideas for future game projects when Microsoft laid off more than half of the studio. According to a new report from GamesBeat, 92 of 185 full-time employees were laid off from id Software. This has put a number of projects in question. The report notes that the studio was working on a bunch of projects, and sources aren't sure how they can move forward on them with such a small team. “I’m not convinced there is a viable way forward,” said one laid-off worker when speaking with GamesBeat. “It feels like a bunch of knee-jerk responses.” id Software just finished its work on the new Doom: The Dark Ages DLC, known as Revelations, and was looking at what its next full-scale project would...
After just five or so hours with Revelations so far, I already feel confident saying that the new combat elements it brings to the table make the encounters in this DLC the very best Doom: The Dark Ages has to offer. We didn’t get early code for this expansion, so my full review isn’t ready quite yet – I still need to finish up the last third of the campaign and then check out what seems to be a fairly robust endgame. But the new Chain Spear and refreshed mobility of Revelations have it inching ever closer to the stratospheric heights of Doom Eternal, which is already enough for me to confidently tell any fellow Doom heads that Revelations is a must-play. This DLC’s story picks up right where the main campaign left off, and while you...
Developer Echofall Games has announced Deepward, a high-speed first-person shooter roguelite set in the 1920s that lets you choose three distinct heroes from a roster of six, switching between any of the three of them on the fly during the brutal melee and gun-based action. It's in development for PC and does not yet have a release window. Watch the reveal trailer above. The setup is described as follows: "What begins in a cursed, god-forsaken place sinks into stranger depths below. Explore gothic interiors, caves, prisons, ritual spaces, and impossible places as the truth buried underneath starts to surface." Meanwhile, your roster of six heroes will each bring unique weapons, abilities, playstyles, and backstories to the table. Death...
Obsidian Entertainment is reportedly pulling the plug on a sequel to Avowed in favor of a new Fallout game. Bloomberg reports that Obsidian has scrapped plans for Avowed 2 and other unannounced projects to focus on a new Fallout game, led by Josh Sawyer. Sawyer was reportedly working on a different RPG that was structurally similar to Fallout prior to this. He also served as lead designer and project director on Fallout: New Vegas, one of the most beloved games in the franchise. Bethesda, the studio that has overseen the Fallout franchise for nearly two decades, will work with Obsidian on the project. A small group of staff will continue to work on Avowed 2 with the hopes of reviving the project later down the line. The news comes as...
2026 really is the year of unexpected comic book crossovers. After recently learning about Batman/Superman/Weird Al: World's Weirdest and Judge Dredd/Biker Mice From Mars, now we know that the G.I. Joe and Tomb Raider franchises are gearing up for a big crossover. Technically, that crossover is already underway, as Lara Croft just made a surprise appearance in the pages of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #330. That appearance sets the stage for a bigger crossover in the form of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero/Tomb Raider. This five-issue limited series launches in October 2026. Check out the slideshow gallery below for an early look at G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero/Tomb Raider #1: G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero/Tomb Raider is written...

More than eight years on from its official announcement, The Elder Scrolls 6 is still at least two more years from release. That's according to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, speaking last night during a live Q&A discussing this week's dramatic changes at Xbox which have seen 1,600 staff made redundant and at least four studios cut from the company's roster. A further 1,600 job losses are currently planned over the course of this year. Doom developer id Software was gutted, as was ZeniMax Online Studios, developer of The Elder Scrolls Online. In an email to Bethesda staff sent following the announcement of the cuts, Bethesda boss Jill Braff said the company will now double down on its "strongest franchises," which suggests the...
On paper, Echoes of Aincrad is the Sword Art Online game you've been waiting for if you loved the anime. It takes place during the Aincrad arc, the very first one in the series, which is easily the most memorable and iconic. As your own created character, you get to experience Aincrad without having to retread the path of series protagonist Kirito. He also doesn’t have a huge role in the story, allowing Echoes of Aincrad to carve out its own identity with a brand new cast of characters in a single-player action-RPG. But even when being mostly free from the confines of Kirito’s presence, it still feels constrained by the anime’s established lore. And unfortunately, the semi-open world structure is too bare and slows down the story’s...
Bungie has given Destiny 2 one last surprise as a farewell gift and revealed its limited support plans for the game. The official X / Twitter page for Destiny 2 news and updates dropped a code for a new item: an emblem of the Destiny logo. Players can redeem it on Bungie's website and equip it in-game. It's not much, but it is a nice parting gift from Bungie. Additionally, Bungie communications manager Dylan Gafner confirmed the team will continue to take Destiny 2 offline periodically for server maintenance and if an urgent situation calls for it, and they will be ready to fix major issues such as game crashes. Gafner added that Bungie will attempt to release fixes if it gets the opportunity. Beyond that, don't expect any notable...
The feline slacker, Garfield, along with his eternal love of lasagna and existential hatred of the start of the work week, is no stranger to video games. Whether that's games focusing on exploring his home for trinkets, taking on trivia and party challenges, or even having a go at kart-racing action, it seems like Garfield and friends have done it all. But where the upcoming Garfield: Escape from Monday tries something different is putting the slacker cat in a new action-platformer where he'll have to navigate a dream world loaded to the brim with his favorite foods, along with some unsavory ones to deal with. We recently got some extended hands-on time with developer OSome Studio's upcoming Garfield platformer, which takes the titular...
Palworld developer Pocketpair has decided not to raise the price of the game for this week’s 1.0 launch. Instead, it will remain priced $29.99. Palworld’s Early Access Steam page still says “The price of the game may increase at or closer to the official release,” as it has done so since early 2024. That led many to think Palworld would get more expensive when 1.0 launches on July 10. However, Pocketpair has announced it’s sticking with $29.99 “as a small way of saying thank you.” “After much thought, we have decided not to raise the price of Palworld following the 1.0 release and will keep it at $29.99,” Pocketpair said in a statement on social media. “We are incredibly proud of how far Palworld has come. Thanks to the amazing...
Ubisoft will soon announce a Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Crew Motorfest, including a physical release on a Game-Key Card. That's according to Dealabs' ever-reliable billbil_kun, who reported that the open-world racer's Switch 2 edition is currently set to launch on October 8, priced at $49.99 / £44.99 / €44.99. One aspect keeping that cost low may be its launch on a cheaper Game-Key Card cartridge, Nintendo's cheaper physical alternative that gives collector's something inside their game box but still requires you download the full game. But there's also the fact that, by the time it arrives on Switch 2, the game will also be three years old. Originally released for PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, XBox One and Xbox Series X/S back in...
Subnautica 2 developer Unknown Worlds will release the game’s Early Access 1.1 update today, July 8 — and no, it won’t let you kill fish. In a new video, creative director Anthony Gallegos said the 1.1 update, dubbed Adaptive Measures, focuses on expanding the biomods system, adding new biolabs to the early game so you’ll be able to find and swap out more biomods as you play from the start. Later in the game you’ll be able to scan creatures and unlock more passive biomod slots, so can take multiple passive biomods at the same time. Perhaps of most interest are improvements to creature flinches. Most of the creatures in the game now have good flinches, so if you hit them with the Survival Multitool you’ll get a reaction out of them...
Palworld has achieved an impressive player milestone 2.5 years after its early access launch and with the 1.0 release right around the corner. Developer Pocketpair said Palworld had passed 40 million players, with 1.0 set for July 10 (we’ve got the global release times for Palworld’s 1.0 launch if you want to know when you can play). That 40 million figure doesn't mean Palworld has sold 40 million copies. While it's an undoubted sales success, particularly on Steam, Palworld is also available on console subscription services. It's still on Game Pass, for example (Microsoft promoted the Palworld 1.0 launch as part of its July 2026 wave one Game Pass lineup announcement this week). It’s been a rollercoaster Early Access period for...
If you’ve spent any time watching anime over the last decade, you’ve almost certainly heard someone mention Truck-kun. No, it’s not the name of an actual character. Instead, it’s one of anime’s longest-running jokes. Now, it’s finally inspired an entire video game. That game is Truck-kun is Supporting Me From Another World?!, a wonderfully ridiculous upcoming title from Strange Scaffold that fully embraces one of anime’s biggest memes. Even if you’ve never watched an isekai series before, here’s why Truck-kun has become such an internet legend. What Is Truck-kun? Truck-kun is the unofficial nickname anime fans have given to the mysterious delivery truck that appears whenever a protagonist is about to begin an isekai adventure. In...
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag came out way back in 2013, and while the game was demanding for its time, PC gaming has come a long way in the last thirteen years or so. If Ubisoft simply released a remaster for the game, it’d likely be extremely easy to run, even on weaker hardware. But, instead, the game uses the same version of the Anvil Engine as last year’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and that game was absolutely gorgeous, even if it was hard to run on low-end hardware. With Black Flag Resynced, though, Ubisoft seems to have widened the net of hardware that’ll be able to run the game well. Because where I wouldn’t even think about running Assassin's Creed Shadows on a handheld gaming PC, Black Flag Resynced has three whole presets...
Whenever a new Assassin’s Creed comes around, the conversation inevitably loops back to the same question: “Hey, remember the one with the pirates? That one was great.” Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is the last game my friends who lapsed on the series have played. It's the one whose hero, Edward Kenway, always sits high up on “Best of” lists. It’s the one that spawned two remarkable spin-offs and inspired a whole game that is just ship combat. Black Flag was a cultural moment, and Resynced isn't just a full remake of that juggernaut, but Ubisoft Singapore’s celebration of the original’s well earned reputation. With new graphics, revamped combat both in melee and on the high seas, and retooled exploration and stealth systems, its bigger...
Microsoft reportedly plans to make more of its best games console exclusive so people actually have a reason to buy an Xbox console. New Xbox boss Asha Sharma has already begun this process, making The Coalition’s Gears of War: E-Day and inXile’s Clockwork Revolution available on Xbox Series X and S and PC only, skipping PlayStation 5 in the process. But according to Bloomberg, Microsoft plans to return to exclusives in a more meaningful way. Big multiplayer games will continue to release across platforms, including PS5, Bloomberg said, but Microsoft “will make more of its best titles exclusive to Xbox so gamers have a reason to buy its console.” This begs the question: what is considered among Xbox’s best titles, and thus will...
Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 might be missing a few modes and pieces of content when they're re-released for PS4 and PS5 later this month. The trophy lists for both games have appeared online and, while they're largely identical to the original PS3 versions, there are a few differences. As pointed out by X user ForwardLeaks, several trophies around using the game's theater mode, League Play, and winning wager matches have been outright removed. Theater mode allowed players to watch replays of previous matches and move the camera around, which was useful for content creation during YouTube's infancy. Wager matches, on the other hand, were a playlist that allowed players to gamble in-game currency on more unique game modes. These...
