Sony is issuing automatic refunds to players who paid for additional content in Highguard. Highguard launched on January 26 after almost no communication with prospective players between its December The Game Awards announcement and its release date. While Steam concurrents almost hit 100,000, they soon plummeted. And though developer Wildlight was quick to address issues with the game, even adding a 5v5 game mode to counter 3v3 complaints, it wasn't long before most of the studio was laid off. Wildlight went on to announce that it would permanently shut down Highguard on March 12, but not before a "farewell tour" patch. Now, as spotted by players and shared on Reddit, refunds seem to have been issued automatically, with one refunded...
Alan Wake developer Remedy has launched its final update to FBC: Firebreak, its Control multiplayer spinoff which has failed to find much of an audience. Available now, the final update adds a Friend's Pass system to the game, so that up to three people can play when only one owns a copy. Going forward, FBC: Firebreak has a new lower price, too: just $19.99. Remedy says it intends to keep FBC: Firebreak servers online for the foreseeable future, and the game patched if necessary to ensure it remains playable if issues do arrive. But this is the end of new content drops for the game, it said in statement on the matter. "Open House will be the last major update for FBC: Firebreak," Remedy wrote. "We won't be adding new playable...

Nvidia just announced DLSS 5, an upcoming iteration of its AI software suite for graphics cards at GTC 2026. However, there has been significant backlash, due to the changes it seems to make to a game's aesthetic. But Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang disagrees. At a press Q&A event at the GPU Technology Conference, Jensen Huang took a question from Tom's Hardware's Paul Alcorn about the backlash to the technology, saying that "Well, first of all, they're completely wrong," while reiterating that control over the implementation remains with the game developers. "DLSS 5 fuses controllability of the of geometry and textures and everything about the game with generative AI," Huang said. "It’s not post-processing, it’s not post-processing at the...
Subnautica 2 is entering early access at last. IGN can exclusively reveal that both developer Unknown Worlds and publisher Krafton have agreed the game is ready for its early access release in May on Xbox and PC, though an exact date hasn't been provided just yet. Unknown Worlds head Steve Papoutsis shared the following message with the Subnautica 2 team today: This comes as a major victory for Unknown Worlds on the heels of its developers achieving a significant victory in a legal battle with publisher Krafton. Last year, CEO Ted Gill and other senior team members were unexpectedly fired from the studio and the game's launch was delayed, with Krafton alleging that Gill and his colleagues were "checked out" and had failed to...
IOI Partners has announced today it will no longer publish MindsEye, leaving all publishing rights and responsibilities in the hands of developer Build A Rocket Boy. As shared in a press release today, the transition is effective as of March 16, 2026 and IOI Partners will no longer be involved with MindsEye except as necessary to make the transition happen. In addition, a planned crossover event between IOI's Hitman: World of Assassination and MindsEye has been canceled. IOI peacing out of this isn't shocking given the mess that's been MindsEye. The game was developed by Build a Rocket Boy, a studio headed up by Leslie Benzies who produced several entries in Grand Theft Auto, which lent it significant anticipation. Originally, it was...
Project Hail Mary will be released in theaters on March 20. When Phil Lord and Chris Miller departed Solo: A Star Wars Story mid-production in 2017 due to “creative differences,” it left a lot of people imagining just what a space epic from the directors of 21 Jump Street and The Lego Movie would have felt like, and whether the duo were up to the task of levelling up the scale of their filmmaking to that degree in the first place. In that sense, Project Hail Mary, their first live-action directing effort since 2014’s 22 Jump Street, feels like vindication for Lord and Miller. The pair and star Ryan Gosling prove perfectly suited to each other’s sensibilities, opening the door to an exciting interstellar adventure that, even through...
Needing some more Resi in your life? Resident Evil 7: Biohazard joins the Xbox Game Pass lineup this month, as part of Microsoft's second wave of March additions. This month's list is also headlined by Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which allows you extend your mob life and karaoke dreams outside of Japan all the way to Hawaii, and noted indie darlign Disco Elysium, which you should really play if you haven't already. For subscribers who don't have the top-tier Premium package, this month marks your first oppurtunity to dip into arty adventure South of Midnight and celebrated 2025 game of the year winner Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. You also get to try The Alters, the oddball survival game where you create alternate versions of...
Following its initial reveal last year right here on IGN, the new entry into the extremely competitive trading card game market, Cyberpunk TCG, has officially launched its Kickstarter campaign. The campaign has already far exceeded its initial backing goal of $100,000, raising over $3 million at the time of publication (and continues to rise). With the door open for fans to support the project's development, there’s a broad spread of options now available to consider backing. At first glance, options scale from starter decks at $49, all the way to an expansive "Night City Legend" tier that's priced at almost $8,000, and even several stretch goals to boot. At the most accessible end is the Common Cyberdecks tier, at $49 and $10 off...
Epic Games has released key artwork for the next season of Fortnite, confirming the return of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and the inclusion of Bugs Bunny. Showdown, which goes live later this week, features the highly-anticipated return of Johnson's Fortnite hero The Foundation — something that followers of Fortnite lore have been awaiting for years, and Epic Games has been teasing for some time. The next season will also see Looney Tunes characters join Fortnite, with the suggestion here that Bugs Bunny (and all the other skins seen in the image) will be included within the next battle royale battle pass. (Separately, leakers have suggested that Daffy Duck and Lola Bunny will land in the item shop for purchase separately.) Fortnite...
It's par for the course for developer Bethesda to support its games post-launch with a slew of updates and DLC (or expansion packs, as we had in the old world). And with about two-and-a-half years since the release of Starfield, Bethesda hasn't abandoned it and is actually implementing foundational changes to how the sci-fi RPG works – largely things that its community has asked for. This major update hitting April 7 also coincides with the launch of the PS5 port, finally; a new version for a new audience. Little things like better inventory management and weapon upgrades to new useful items and having actual space travel on ships, these are changes to core systems along with a story DLC starring a new faction. I visited Bethesda Game...
Bethesda Game Studios carries a lot of history with it, so when I visited its office in Maryland to check out what's new with Starfield's upcoming overhaul and DLC, there was much more on my mind. Thankfully, I was able to sort through some of that when I talked with studio head and creative director Todd Howard for a one-on-one interview where he gave some insight on Starfield's path from launch to where it is today and shared some new details about The Elder Scrolls 6 and where Bethesda at with its next massive RPG. But we also discussed RPG philosophy, Creation Engine 3 for The Elder Scrolls 6, and why he just doesn't want to announce games so early anymore. You can watch the video version above or the transcript of our conversation...
Bethesda director Todd Howard is tired of being asked about The Elder Scrolls 6, and would rather we all pretend he just didn't announce it at all. That comes from an interview we conducted with him which was not about The Elder Scrolls 6, but about Starfield, at a preview event for the upcoming major Starfield update, which you can read all about here. While we were chatting about Starfield, Howard happened to mention feeling uncertain about how early to announce updates, and the effort it takes to make sure the community knows the team is working on something without making them wait for something forever. Which, you know, brings to mind another game with this exact problem. The Elder Scrolls 6. So, we mentioned it. "Just pretend...
Bethesda has announced its long-awaited list of updates and additions to Starfield, which fans have been anticipating as the game's 'version 2.0' moment. Today, Bethesda announced Terran Armada, a new paid story DLC which features a new questline, characters, locations, enemies and rewards. It'll be priced at $10, or free if you own Starfield's Premium Edition. Separately, there's a raft of additional changes and content coming for all players named Free Lanes — which includes the game's long-awaited update to spaceflight, allowing you to travel between planets in the same star system. All of this will arrive on April 7, which is conveniently also when Starfield makes its long-awaited touchdown on PlayStation 5. The game will also...
Embark Studios has published Arc Raiders update 1.20.0, revealing a somewhat short list of patch notes with two noticeable changes: nerfs for the Il Toro shotgun and energy clips. Patch notes for today’s update were published on the extraction shooter’s website today. Highlights for the update, which is now live across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S, include the new Rawhide outfit and new haircuts, as well as several fixed glitches, but the real game-changers will affect PvP and PvE players across the board. The Il Toro has prevailed as one of the more popular – and powerful – weapons for PvP players in Arc Raiders. Its close-range damage, coupled with well-timed dodge rolls, feels almost unstoppable in the right hands...
Amazon's Big Spring Sale may be right around the corner on March 25, but already we've spotted some excellent video game deals worth grabbing. The most exciting pick to catch our eye is on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for PS5, which has dropped to $24.99 at the retailer (see it here). Not only is this a massive 64% discount from its original list price of $69.99, but it marks a brand new low for the game at Amazon, according to price tracker camelcamelcamel. What better time to grab it, really? Save on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for PS5 If you haven't added it to your library yet, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a game we consider to be one of the best video game remakes of all time, so you can feel content knowing you're in for a great time...
So, Nvidia just revealed DLSS 5, its new AI graphics tech that uses generative systems to “enhance” video games with more photo-realistic effects, and I’m not going to worry about mincing my words here: I think it looks shit. Yes, we’ve barely seen a minute of it in action, but if what’s teased is where technology giants think the future of graphics tech in games is going, then I’m afraid I’m out. The first shot of Nvidia’s DLSS 5 announcement trailer gives us a good look at the impact the technology has on Capcom’s latest, Resident Evil Requiem. It’s already a stunning-looking video game, so I can’t say I ever felt it was in need of enhancements, but lo and behold, as that green bar sweeps across the screen, a yassified Grace Ashcroft...
Embark Studios, the dev behind Arc Raiders and The Finals has "mutually agreed to part ways" with co-founder and CCO Rob Runesson following public allegations that he engaged in sexual misconduct with a popular The Finals streamer, as well as an external legal investigation that Embark claims "did not substantiate" the allegations. These allegations, shared by an anonymous person, first arose around a month ago via The Finals streamer Balise who read them on stream. The anonymous allegations were later distributed via Google Doc in various The Finals social communities. In summary, the anonymous person claims they were in contact with a popular female streamer of The Finals, who allegedly spoke to them frequently about engaging in a...
Introducing seasons in Forza Horizon 4 was a huge shift for the series. Bringing Britain to life four times over, in four distinct seasons, was obviously a significant undertaking. However, what it injected into the game was a reward for returning week after week. That proved extremely valuable. Each week, things would be a little different, and it kept Forza Horizon 4 fascinatingly fresh. It was a particular novelty for myself, to virtually visit a world with such distinct variety. Where I live in Australia, it’s either hot and sunny, or it’s cool and sunny – and unless they’re on fire, gum trees are green 365 days a year. That is, it would’ve been a lot easier for Playground Games to have debuted seasons in Forza Horizon 3, but...
Already one of the most visually impressive titles on PlayStation 5, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach looks set to pull off that same trick once again when it lands on PC this March. Like its predecessor, the PC version brings meaningful upgrades that elevate the experience beyond the console version. From PC features and system requirements to pre-order bonuses and more, here’s everything you need to know about Death Stranding 2 on PC. Death Stranding 2 PC Release Date Death Stranding 2 is officially launching on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on March 19, 2026. The game was originally released on PlayStation 5 on June 25, 2026, where it quickly established itself as a technical showcase. Death Stranding 2 PC Pre-Order...
Hideo Kojima has confirmed that players can expect a slew of new features for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach later this week, including a harder difficulty mode, replayable boss fights, and new live-action cutscenes that were initially cut from the PS5 release. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is, of course, set to arrive for PC later this week on March 19, less than a year after the game's original arrival on PS5. And though Kojima had teased that new content would be coming to all players, regardless of platform, the director has only now revealed what that new content is. Talking to Spacewalk, a Japanese radio show, and captured by Okami13 on X/Twitter (thanks, MP1st), we now know that the update will include a new hard difficulty...
Saudi Arabia now owns 10% of Capcom, after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman's Electronic Gaming Development Company (EGDC) acquired a 5% stake. Gamebiz.jp reports that the EGDC's acquisition, part of the Crown Prince's MISK Foundation, is "pure investment." Added to the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF)'s existing 5% stake, EGDC's acquisition of an additional 26.78 million shares raises the country's ownership of the developer and publisher to around 10%. The increased ownership comes as Resident Evil Requiem has now sold six million copies, making it the fastest-selling instalment of the horror game since it all kicked off in Raccoon City thirty years ago. The controversial Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin...
For weeks now, it feels like the technical performance of Pearl Abyss’ ambitious open-world game Crimson Desert is all anyone has wanted to talk about. We’ve seen it running on high-end PCs, as well as how it fares on the beefy PS5 Pro, but never how it looks on a base PlayStation 5. Until now. A lengthy gameplay video shared on PlayStation Japan’s YouTube channel has finally given us a glimpse into what playing Crimson Desert will look like for those who own the standard PS5. Admittedly, the encoding of the video leaves a little to be desired, with it being limited to 1080p and 30fps on YouTube, so it’s hard to tell just how shiny it all looks from a graphical perspective, but the good news is that it all seems to be running...
Bethesda has committed to "further adjusting the lighting and final effect" of Nvidia's controversial DLSS 5 visuals on Starfield, after fans strongly criticized the game's AI-like faces when the controversial new technology was applied. Countless fans have left comments slamming the "AI-generated slop" visuals demonstrated by Nvidia in Starfield and a range of other blockbuster games, including Oblivion Remastered, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and Resident Evil Requiem, calling it an "AI filter" that players "don't want." Nvidia announced DLSS 5 yesterday, and dubbed "the GPT moment for graphics." (For more about DLSS and why it matters to gaming, check out IGN's handy guide). As part of the announcement, Nvidia acknowledged the...

Krafton has been ordered to reinstate the former boss of Subnautica 2 studio Unknown Worlds and extend its employees' proposed $250 million bonus, in a stunning legal judgment that strongly favors the game's development staff. Subnautica 2's development has been mired in controversy since Krafton dramatically fired Unknown Worlds CEO Ted Gill and other senior team members in the summer of last year. At the time, Krafton also said the game's launch had also been delayed — something it blamed on Gill — even though its team had been working towards an early access release that would have seen them eligible for that $250 million bonus. Gill and his former teammates immediately launched a lawsuit against Krafton, suggesting they were...

Warner Bros. Games has announced a change to the launch date of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight — but it's not a delay. Instead, the game will now arrive a week sooner than previously confirmed, on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. That means LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will now debut on May 22, rather than its earlier May 29 date. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is also still set to follow down the line. Warner Bros. Games made the announcement today via a fresh trailer for the game, below, which it captioned: "You signaled. He answered." Developer TT Games made its previous Legacy of the Dark Knight release date announcement at the end of last year at The Game Awards, where it revealed that its caped crusade was...
Sony has confirmed an array of games set to benefit from PlayStation 5 Pro's upgraded PSSR visual boost, which launches more broadly via a new system software update available later today. Supported titles include a range of third-party blockbusters, including Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Monster Hunter Wilds, Assassin's Creed Shadows and Silent Hill 2. Notably, the visually impressive Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 — a game that was previously an Xbox console exclusive — will also support the upgraded PSSR, refining the game's appearance even further for PS5 Pro. PSSR, or PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, uses AI capabilities to analyze and upscale the console's base output for a better and more stable visuals. Sony...
