Silent protagonists are nothing new in video games, but Stray certainly pushes that concept to an interesting place. Part platformer, part traditional adventure game, this cyberpunk world full of neon-soaked robots transforms into a giant jungle gym from your perspective, which is just one foot off the ground. The concept of putting you in the paws of an average cat may be a silly one on the surface, but Stray uses that furry vehicle to tell a genuinely compelling story with some entertaining action along the way. Not all of its ideas land on their feet, but it was impossible to shake the fuzzy feeling it gave me right from the adorable opening minutes.

Another new AAA studio has joined the gaming scene, this one founded by Jerry Hook, one of the architects of the original Xbox who most recently worked on Halo Infinite.
The new studio's mission is to "create a new generation of narrative-driven action games" with "immersive worlds." Its founding members include Paul Crocker, who served as lead narrative director on the Batman: Arkham trilogy; Greg Stone, who produced DOOM (2016), and Steve Dyck, who worked on SSX, NBA Street, and the Halo series. Intel has shared early details on its upcoming Arc A750 Limited Edition GPU and it looks to perform slightly better than the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 for such games as Cyberpunk 2077, Control, Fortnite, and more.
Intel shared the info in a blog and a video and revealed performance results from a small subset of games that "work very well with Intel Arc and the Alchemist architecture." Intel notes that not all games will show these results, but it's a "view of what Intel Arc A-series cards are capable of with the right software and engineering enablement."

Soulframe is the next game from Warframe developers Digital Extremes, and this new project that is inspired by Studio Ghibli's Princess Mononoke looks to be the "mirror universe version of Warframe" set in a fantasy world.
As reported by The Washington Post, Soulframe was announced during TennoCon 2022 and is being led by Steve Sinclair, the director of Warframe who is stepping down from his current role to help bring this new adventure to life.

Genshin Impact’s Summer Fantasia event is in full swing, and along with the boat races and character stories is a chance to earn the free new Fischl skin. It’s the first alternate costume for the four-star princess of darkness, though you need to jump through some hoops and hunt down elusive items before you can claim it.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially completed its $3.7 billion deal to acquire Bungie - the studio behind Destiny and every Halo game up to Halo: Reach - and has welcomed it into the PlayStation family.

While The Sims series has always allowed players' characters to romance Sims of the same gender, players have never been able to designate sexual and romantic attractions for their Sims. An upcoming update to The Sims 4, however, is set to change that for the first time.
Today, Maxis announced a sexual orientation feature for the game's Create A Sim screen, which will roll out in the next free base game update alongside the High School Years Expansion Pack.

After a long wait, Halo fans can finally try out Halo Infinite's campaign in co-op with the game's new beta. Today, the official Halo Twitter account announced the beta's launch, saying you can squad up with your friends to take on the Banished together on Zeta Halo.
The beta also includes a feature many Halo fans wanted in Infinite's campaign: Mission Replay. In Halo Infinite, once you complete a mission, there was no way to return to it later for Skull hunting, or just for fun. In the beta, 343 has implemented a system through the game's map to replay missions you've already completed.

In a major change to its roadmap, Microsoft is returning to its three-year plan for new Windows upgrades. The new plan means we might see Windows 12 as early as 2024.
According to a report by Windows Central, Microsoft's new roadmap means new versions of Windows will ship every three years.
In the past, Microsoft has also taken its time with new versions of the operating system — Windows 10 was released in 2015, and Windows 11 wasn't released until six years after in 2021. CyberConnect2 has officially announced Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2, a direct sequel to the 2021 game Fuga: Melodies of Steel.
More information about the sequel will be shown on July 28, but so far, no release date or platform announcements have been made yet. Cyberconnect2 has also created a teaser website for the game in both Japanese and English, indicating that it will be localized.
In addition, Cyberconnect2 revealed that a free demo of the first game is now available. Players can experience the game’s story up to chapter 3 and those who purchase the full game can transfer their save data and progress over to it.

EA is officially removing BioWare Points as a form of currency in the Origin Store on PC. To make up for it, EA is now offering most DLC from Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 to all players for free.

With World of Warcraft preparing to roll out its Dragonflight alpha this week, one notable concern is that, if Dragonflight is indeed intended to drop this year, this will be the shortest alpha/beta cycle World of Warcraft has had in recent memory. But Blizzard says this is due to a change in how it’s doing testing, and not a cause for concern.
