Sony has announced PlayStation: The Concert, the world tour of a "state of the art production" with music from games such as God of War, The Last of Us, Horizon, Ghost of Tsushima, and more.
Some details are still hazy as the PlayStation Blog post detailing PlayStation: The Concert and a press release provided to IGN have conflicting and seemingly incomplete information, but the world tour will premiere in April 2025.
The first show will take place in Dublin, Ireland, seemingly on April 19, before shifting to the UK for six tour dates between April 21 and April 27. It will then head to "more than 200 cities" across Europe, the U.S., and more.
Concert locations beyond Europe will be announced "very soon," Sony said, and so far only...

Microsoft has announced the Xbox Game Pass Wave 2 October 2024 lineup.
The headline here is of course the October 25 release of Black Ops 6, the first Call of Duty game to launch day-one on Game Pass. It comes a year after Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which has also seen the likes of Diablo 4 and Modern Warfare 3 arrive on Game Pass, and will, in November, see StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft 2: Campaign Collection hit the subscription service.
Black Ops 6’s launch straight into Game Pass is a big gamble for Microsoft. It hopes the power of Call of Duty will boost subscriber numbers and revenue (itself bolstered by the recent Game Pass price rise and restructure), but it comes with the risk of losing...
Warning: this article contains spoilers for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners!
Fans of Cyberpunk 2077 and especially the animated spinoff Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will be keen on Dark Horse's latest collectible. This dynamic statue pits Rebecca against Adam Smasher and immortalizes the "Final Moment" from the animated series.
IGN can exclusively reveal the first images and details for the Cyberpunk Edgerunners: The Final Moment Premium Statue. Get a closer look at this awesome piece in the slideshow gallery below:
This Cybperunk: Edgerunners statue is inspired by the final confrontation between Rebecca and Adam Smasher in the season finale animated series. The piece is sculpted by Monster Fight Club and Substance Model Works and is based on a...
Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s Trophy / Achievement list is online in full and contains spoilers you might want to avoid if you’re looking to go into BioWare’s next big game fresh when it arrives October 31.
The trophies, which IGN won’t spoil here, revolve around major story beats. There are a few miscellaneous and collectible trophies thrown in too, as well as the party member-specific trophies — although, curiously, not for completing a romance storyline.
BioWare games traditionally do include achievements for romancing characters, but Dragon Age: The Veilguard appears to be taking a different, perhaps more Platinum-friendly approach.
The names of the achievements tied to those story beats suggest various plot developments...
Metaphor: ReFantazio arrived from the creators of Persona 3, 4, and 5 as a twisted take on a medieval fantasy, but it was originally planned as a more traditional role-playing game akin to Lord of the Rings.
In an interview with Famitsu translated by Automaton, director Hashino Katsura said the development team went as far as creating concept art for the more traditional fantasy version of Metaphor but found it a bit boring.
"In the early stages we were considering a high fantasy setting with elves, dwarves, and the like," Katsura said, adding that the team rewatched The Lord of the Rings trilogy for inspiration. "We had [Persona series’ artist Shigenori Soejima] come up with a bunch of sketches, but it kind of felt ordinary. It...
Microsoft has settled the antitrust lawsuit filed on behalf of a group of gamers who objected to the company’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
As reported by The Wrap, details of the settlement were undisclosed, but we do know the lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice, which means it cannot be filed again. Lawyers agreed that "each party shall bear their own costs and fees."
The lawsuit was filed back in 2022 in California by a group of gamers from across multiple states who expressed concern about the potential negative impact of a Microsoft monopoly in the video game space sparked by absorbing the makers of Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, and Candy Crush, among many other games. It came soon after the Federal Trade...
Sony has confirmed 18 games leave the PlayStation Plus Games Catalog on November 18, including heavy hitters Red Dead Redemption 2, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and the entire Kingdom Hearts collection.
The Games Catalog additions for October 2024 are now available but, alongside their arrival, Sony has also revealed which games leave the subscription service soon.
Rockstar Games' open-world cowboy adventure Red Dead Redemption 2 headlines the changes as it leaves the Games Catalog for the second time. It was touted as one of the biggest available games when Sony first announced the revised PlayStation Plus system but left the service after a year before eventually being added back in May.
Final Fantasy and Disney fans are also...
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has got off to an incredible start with three million sales in 24 hours.
The first sequel in more than 15 years in the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series launched on October 11 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam, and quickly shot up to the most-played games list on Valve’s platform. Neither Sony nor Microsoft makes their console numbers public.
Sparking! Zero soon sped past the Steam peak player counts of every other Dragon Ball game released on the platform — and it's not even close. SteamDB currently reports a peak player count of 122,554, which was achieved at launch. The next-highest peak player count for a Dragon Ball game was set by Arc System Work’s fighting game Dragon...
Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has released patch 01.001.104, which concludes its ‘60-day plan’ to improve pretty much all aspects of the third-person co-op PC and PS5 shooter.
Arrowhead said the patch marks the last set of changes it wanted to make as part of the 60-day plan. It makes changes to the remaining weapons and stratagems the developer wasn’t able to finish for the game-changing patch released on September 17, with the hope that they’re now “more interesting and effective.”
Elsewhere, Arrowhead said it’s “fine-tuned the Automaton experience to hopefully make them feel less frustrating to play against.” It’s also adjusted the Helldivers durability “to make your armor choices feel more impactful.”
Some items now have new...
There's a fairly high chance that the titular deal of this article may be gone by the time you read this. But maybe, just maybe, you can nab a PS5 version of the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Collector's Edition. I've got one myself and can speak to its inherent awesomeness. If that's not your bag, we have bargains aplenty elsewhere today!
In retro news, I've hired some Nathan Drake spooking clowns for the 15th Bday of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. To say this sequel blew my mind at launch is quite the understatement. U2 began and persisted with gobsmacking action setpieces, brilliantly balanced shootin' / punchin' / puzzlin' gameplay, and an Amy Hennig script that snap, crackled, and popped with a decent pool of Marco Polo jokes. To...
Microsoft announced on Monday that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) for Game Pass Ultimate members at launch, along with two other Call of Duty titles later this month.
Per Microsoft's blog post, Black Ops 6 will begin rolling out on Xbox Cloud Gaming at 10am PT on October 25, the same day that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone will get cloud support for Game Pass Ultimate members. Microsoft points out in the blog post that it's "a first for the Call of Duty franchise," marking the first time a Call of Duty title has been available on Xbox Cloud Gaming at launch following Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
Interestingly, Microsoft sold cloud gaming rights...
Microsoft has announced its latest Xbox Partner Preview – what the company calls its "no-fluff, all-games broadcast" – for this coming Thursday, October 17.
Per Microsoft's blog post on Monday, the broadcast will show off games from Remedy Entertainment, Sega, 505 Games, and more. It'll include a mix of new and upcoming games, featuring more than a dozen fresh trailers and clocking in at around 25 minutes.
Delving into more specifics, the broadcast will also feature a look at Alan Wake II's next expansion, The Lake House, aheads of its release sometime this month. Other highlights include "an action-packed new trailer for Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, a peek at multiple bosses in dark-fantasy action game Wuchang: Fallen...
It’s no secret that the hero shooter genre has become a crowded market. So when the creative team at iDreamSky started planning their next game, they knew they needed to differentiate themselves.
The result was Strinova, a third-person shooter with an anime art style and unique mechanic. It’s called “Stringification” and allows you to shift between 2D and 3D versions of your character. You become paper-thin and are much harder to see and shoot. You can hover above the ground to see more of the battlefield or stick to walls to travel across or up them.
“Usually, for a player to dodge bullets or evade attacks, you move faster, jump, or hide behind a wall. This is very traditional, and almost every game does that already,” said Alan...
The long-rumored Destiny mobile game is finally a reality, with an announcement that brings a debut trailer and word of a closed-alpha test on November 1.
Destiny: Rising is a free-to-play mobile sci-fi RPG shooter set within the Destiny universe Bungie has spent the last decade building. But this new mobile Destiny game isn’t developed or even published by Bungie itself. It’s developed and published by NetEase Games, the Chinese megacorp behind the likes of Diablo Immortal, Once Human, and the upcoming Marvel Rivals, under an official license granted by Bungie.
In 2018, NetEase invested over $100 million into Bungie to build a new game. The investment gave NetEase a minority stake in Bungie and a seat on its board of directors, but...
The Witcher is getting a wholesome, family friendly comic book adaptation called The Little Witcher, CD Projekt Red has announced.
In collaboration with Dey Rey Books and Penguin Random House, the hardback book arrives May 13, 2025 and is available to preorder now for $16 at Amazon, and via the myriad outlets listed on the Penguin website. It tells stories of a young Ciri as she trains to be a witcher under Geralt of Rivia, and also stars the likes of Yennefer of Vengerberg and Vesemir.
"Young Ciri’s extensive training at Kaer Morhen, the witchers’ stronghold, includes everything she needs to learn to survive the many threats in her world, as well as all the antics and fun of a little girl bonding with her adoptive dad and family,"...
For a small, independent studio, Bithell Games really doesn’t like to be pigeonholed. The studio began life as a one-man band and released its debut puzzler Thomas Was Alone to critical acclaim. In the 12 years since, the studio has grown and experimented, tackling genres like stealth, strategy, point-and-click adventure, and even visual novels. For its next project it’s going even bigger, and Tron: Catalyst is an action-adventure with a scope and ambition far greater than anything the studio has done before.
Of course, it’s not the first time the studio has worked on the Tron franchise and 2023’s Tron: Identity was a fresh spin on the movie series. Tron: Catalyst is set in the same world as Identity and features an all-new story...
Tron: Catalyst has been announced as a sequel to Tron: Identity coming in 2025 to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Devolver Digital subsidiary Big Fan Games announced Tron: Catalyst alongside Disney Games and developer Bithell Games. It's described as "a thrilling, story-driven isometric action game" set in the world of Tron.
It will continue the story of the Arq Grid, first introduce in Tron: Identity, as players explore the Exo, a highly resilient and resourceful program with an incredible ability to initiate time loops. Fans can read IGN's preview of the new game here.
"With this newfound power, Exo takes on the overlords of a crumbling Grid all while evading Conn, a malevolent agent of CORE," the...
These are the days when it pays to have a (30-day free) trial of Amazon's Prime Gaming. If you take the three minutes needed to set that sucker up, you can score at least three AAAs, which are (kinda, sorta) in the spooky spirit of Halloween. Alternatively, let's start your week with some incredible deals from Prime Day 2, which I can't believe are still available.
In retro news, I’m celebrating the 22nd bday of Kelly Slater’s Pro Surfer. Growing up as a grommet in a South Coast town meant KSPS was a Teahupo'o-sized launch for me and my mates. We were stoked with Oz nods like Bells and Kirra, Curren and Carroll, and also just a slick combo system in what was basically Tony Hawk’s Water Skater. (Note: Tones could actually be unlocked...
This is the latest guest column from Push Square, the voice of the PlayStation community, offering passionate, in-depth coverage and insight into the world of Sony. Its goal is simple: to keep you informed, engaged, and part of the conversation surrounding all things PlayStation.
Sony sparked discontent among the PlayStation fandom in February this year when it said during an earnings call there’ll be no sequels or updates to “major existing franchise titles” on the PS5 before March 2025. With the platform holder keeping its content roadmaps close to its chest, the comments were largely taken out of context and many assumed this would be a lean year for the company’s new-gen console.
While it’s true this has been a fairly quiet year...

Metroid-like games and their roguelike off-shoots are everywhere today. Not a week goes by without an indie game announcement promising “metroidvania” gameplay elements – and even Nintendo returned to making new Metroid titles after a near six year hiatus following Metroid: Other M in 2010. And that’s me being generous and counting Metroid Prime: Federation Force as a Metroid game…
But it wasn’t always so. After a Metroid renaissance in the early 2000s with Fusion, Prime, and Zero...
Katsura Hashino knows exactly what he wants when it comes to video games. The legendary game director, who is responsible for the modern Persona games and more recently Metaphor: ReFantazio, believes that, in a world obsessed with pixel count and frame-rates, only one thing matters: the people who made it.
“I want something – even if it’s not complete, even if it’s really rough, even if it’s something really unfinished – to give me a glimpse of the humanity behind it. [I want to know] who created it and for it to give me a glimpse of the emotion that inspired it,” he explains.
It’s a philosophy that has served him well over the past 30 years and it’s one of the reasons the Persona games have such a devout following. Yes, the art...
Fortnitemares 2024, Fortnite's annual Halloween event, goes live today and will feature the return of Horde Rush, a pile of fresh quests and rewards, and a host of recognisable, horror-themed outfits hitting the Shop.
Horde Rush will be available for the duration of this year's event, and players will be able to complete Horde Rush quests and Rocket Racing Nitemares quests for XP that will grant a variety of rewards.
Fornitemares 2024 also arrives with a new chainsaw weapon dubbed the Boom Billy, which can be used to carve through enemies (or thrust into the ground and revved to drag your character forward at "frightening speeds"). In addition to this, the Wood Stake Shotgun, Pumpkin Launcher, and Witch Broom are all returning for...

Hot on the heels of two ZA/UM spin-off studios proclaiming their existence to the world alongside an intention to make separate Disco Elysium spiritual successors of their own, another developer made up of some of the people who made the game has exploded onto the scene.
But this new, seemingly fifth(!) outfit trying to keep the Disco dream alive doesn’t sound too thrilled at today's confusing and chaotic group of announcements from various collectives of former ZA/UM staff, who are all saying they’re doing sort of the same thing.
This latest studio, Summer Eternal, was founded by Argo Tuulik, who was involved with co-creating Disco Elysium’s worldbuilding all the way back from ZA/UM’s tabletop RPG sessions in early 2000s Estonia...
There are a lot of roguelikes out there, but one subgenre that’s been popping up recently is the Match-3 puzzle roguelike. Think Puzzle Quest, but with permadeath and different mechanics. If you’ve not played Puzzle Quest, then you can consider this a recommendation for that as well. In the simplest terms, Witching Stone is a […]

Introducing Terrifier: The ARTcade Game, the retro-inspired, pixel-art beat-'em-up based on Art the Clown's world from the Terrifier horror movies. In fact, you play as Art in this four-player local co-op brawler with a chiptune soundtrack. Terrifier: The ARTcade game, published by Selecta Play and developed by Relevo, will be released in 2025 for Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Terrifier: The ARTcade game goes full old-school with its Sega Genesis-era graphics, six different game modes, and over-the-top violence. The developers describe the actions as such, with you playing as Art, who "disrupts movie sets where films about his own gruesome acts are being shot. Instead of letting the cameras capture the...
Anime voice actress Nobuyo Oyama, one of the main voices of Doraemon in addition to playing the villainous mascot in Danganronpa, has died. She was 90.
The new was announced by Oyama's agency and circulated on X/Twitter. Oyama had been living in a retirement home since 2016 and reportedly suffered from dementia. She died on September 29.
Prior to her retirement, Oyama had been best-known for her role as Doraemon, the robotic cat from the future who is often seen as being right up there with Astro Boy as one of the foundational characters of modern anime. Oyama voiced Doraemon for an incredible 2,338 episodes over the course of more than 25 years before finally handing the role to Wasabi Mizuta for a new show that began in 2005. She...
Three more Tomb Raider games are getting remastered courtesy of Crystal Dynamics and Aspyr, bringing fans back to the time when the hallowed series was starting to be considered a little long in the tooth.
The Tomb Raider IV-IV Remastered features updated version of Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider: Chronicles, and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. The first two were originally released for the PlayStation 1 and Dreamcast, while the third one came out on PlayStation 2. All three are considered lesser entries by many fans, with Angel of Darkness in particular being known for being buggy and unfinished.
Here are the official descriptions of all three games.

Atlus’ Metaphor: ReFantazio has sold over one million copies as of its official release date, publisher Sega has announced.
That's enough to make Metaphor: ReFantazio the fastest-selling Atlus game of all time, breaking Persona 3 Reload's record of hitting one million in a week.
Metaphor: ReFantazio’s October 11 global release date has already seen the Persona-style game shoot up Steam’s most-played game list, with 42,992 concurrent players at the time of this article’s publication. That figure will no-doubt rise as we head into the weekend and fans in other regions get the chance to play.
The game also launched across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, but neither Sony nor Microsoft makes player numbers publicly...
