Rumors of a Final Fantasy IX remake have been echoing around RPG circles for at least year now, with series fans hopeful that they may soon get to revisit one of the most beloved entries in the series. But if a Final Fantasy IX remake does materialize, it may face some big challenges.

The Shattered Space expansion for Starfield is now available and Bethesda has released update 1.14.70 to get its space role-playing game ready.
The patch notes were shared on X/Twitter and cover the main Starfield and not just its expansion. While some points are fairly standard, covering the likes of "general performance and stability improvements," others are more fun. "Autumn Macmillan no longer repeats herself when asking about her sister," for example.

Developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio revealed on X/Twitter that Nakaya Kazuhiro — who also played Nishikiyama Akira in Yakuza, Yakuza 0, and Yakuza Kiwami — is playing the role of a tiger cub in the new game.
The tiger is called Goro, presumably (or perhaps coincidentally) named after Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii protagonist Majima Goro. In a Reddit AMA to promote his new book, Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future of Blizzard Entertainment, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier revealed that all three Blizzard franchises were due the Netflix adaptation treatment, but then Blizzard sued Netflix for poaching the company’s then Chief Financial Officer.

The Death Stranding and Metal Gear creator sat down for a wide-ranging interview with Variety, published today, in which he talked about about the next steps of his career — and revealed a more direct tie to Hollywood. Ubisoft has unveiled the roadmap of what's to come over the next couple of months for Star Wars Outlaws, all leading up to its Steam release and first story pack in November.

Valve has updated its new multiplayer game Deadlock to let players turn cheaters into a frog.
Deadlock is a hero shooter that’s like a mash-up of all Valve’s previous games, including Team Fortress 2, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike. It’s in early development, with Valve updating all the time, which leads us to this week’s changes.
This week’s Deadlock patch added a novel anti-cheat measure: turning a cheater into an in-game frog. If you spot a cheater in-game, you can either ban them or transform them for the rest of the match. Here’s the note in the patch notes:

Pokémon Lawsuit Shows ‘Just How Seriously Nintendo Views the Threat of Palworld,’ Patent Expert Says
Nintendo and The Pokémon Company’s lawsuit against developer Pocketpair is evidence of the threat posed by Palworld, one patent expert has said.
In an article on GamesIndustry.biz, intellectual property expert and associate at law firm MBHB Andrew Velzen argued that the shock lawsuit shows “just how seriously Nintendo views the threat of Palworld.”
