EA and Maxis are celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with a truly excellent surprise. Today, both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 are available on PC once again via two Legacy Collections and The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle. EA has announced that it's releasing The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection today on PC. The two are available separately as well as combined for $40 in The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle. Both games include all expansions and almost all stuff packs, as it looks like The Sims 2: Legacy Collection is missing the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008. But otherwise, everything's there. In fact, both collections include some bonus content, with The Sims 1 getting something called Throwback Fit...
The Sleeping Dogs film adaptation, which was confirmed to be cancelled earlier this month, now has a chance of coming back courtesy of Marvel star Simu Liu. As reported by Newsweek, Liu replied to a fan calling for an adaptation of the 2012 game on X/Twitter to say he is trying to get the film off the ground. "Working with the rights holders to bring Sleeping Dogs to the big screen," he said. The adaptation was announced in 2017 with Donnie Yen set to star, but the film disappeared a year later and, just a few weeks ago, Yen himself confirmed it had been scrapped. "I spent a lot of time and did a lot of work with these producers, and I even invested some of my own money into obtaining the drafts and some of the rights," Yen said. "I...
Player First Games has announced that MultiVersus Season 5 will be its last, bringing the Warner Bros. platform fighting game to a close May 30, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. The studio revealed plans to discontinue support for the crossover brawler with a blog post on its website. MultiVersus, which launched May 28 last year, will launch into Season 5 starting next week, February 4, and will continue through its May 2025 end date. It’s at this point that support for online play will come to an end, with Player First promising that players will still be able to access all earned and purchased content while offline via the local gameplay mode and training mode. “Most importantly, we want to thank every player and person who has ever played or...
Following GameStop's $25 sale on select video games, Amazon's joining in on the fun by matching the price of Dragon Age: The Veilguard for PlayStation 5, dropping its price to $24.99. This is 64% off its list price of $69.99, allowing you to pocket a whopping $45. That's an excellent deal to take advantage of, and according to price tracker camelcamelcamel it also marks the 2024 game's lowest price yet. No better time than now to scoop it up if you've had your eye on it. Get 64% off Dragon Age: The Veilguard for PlayStation 5 at Amazon If you're still on the fence about Dragon Age: The Veilguard, it's worth noting that we had very high praise for it in our review. Writer Leana Hafer said, "Enjoyable action combat, a fantastic cast of...
The developer of Civilization 7 has explained why it strongly recommends even veteran Civ players stick with the tutorial for their first full campaign. In a post on Steam, Ed Beach, creative director at Firaxis Games, offered his tips for your first game of Civilization 7. “Civilization 7 is a big game, with many new systems and mechanics that differentiate it from earlier games in our series,” he began. “There's a lot to learn, so we felt that it was important that we provide some suggestions to ensure everyone has a successful first experience.” This is a reference to Civilization 7’s Ages system, which is a drastic change for the long-running strategy series. A full campaign in Civilization 7 is one that goes through all three...
Following layoffs at BioWare that saw the exit of many key developers of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, one former writer on the series has moved to reassure fans by saying: “DA isn't dead because it's yours now.” This week, EA restructured BioWare to focus on Mass Effect 5 only. Some who worked on Dragon Age: The Veilguard were moved to projects at other EA studios. Some revealed they were laid off and were now seeking work. The decision followed EA’s announcement that Dragon Age: The Veilguard had underperformed on its expectations for the long-awaited action RPG. EA said Dragon Age "engaged" 1.5 million players during its recent financial quarter, which was down nearly 50% from the company's projections. Notably, EA did not say the...
Iconic Bethesda voice actor Wes Johnson, who's appeared in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, Fallout 3, Starfield, and many more, has shared a heartfelt message amid his recovery after being found "barely alive" in his hotel room last week. A video from Johnson was uploaded to a GoFundMe page, which has so far raised $174,653 towards medical expenses and to cover bills, and revealed he was in a coma. "I found out there's a lot of love in this world that I didn't know was out there and I'm grateful to each and every one of you," Johnson said. I found out there's a lot of love in this world that I didn't know was out there. Spider-Man 2 on PC was shaping up to be surprisingly performant once its system requirements were revealed. However, the Nixxes-developed port has debuted to a 'mixed' Steam user review rating, with many players complaining about technical issues. Currently, 55% of Spider-Man 2's Steam reviews are positive. “Despite having a high-end GPU and running the latest Nvidia drivers (5.66.36), the game frequently crashes,” said one RTX 4090 user. Another read: “The game is completely unplayable on PC. The game crashes to desktop every five minutes. I have already requested a refund.” "Hold off on buying until they get a couple of stabilization patches out because holy hell," one reviewer added. "To say this is 'rough' is an understatement...

Thank your own personal deity—possibly the Doom Slayer—it's Friday! Speaking of which, his next riptastic adventure has appeared for preordering in the usual storefronts. Being a huge, ultra-nightmare completing fan of Doom 2016 (and then Eternal), I was always going to find you the best prices for this one. While I doubt it shall surpass the soundtracks laid down by Mr. Mick Gordon, my hopes are otherwise high. In retro news, I'm celebrating the 12th birthday of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, a timelessly pretty Studio Ghibli film-as-a-game. Level-5 developed a special one here: something that felt like the games of yore, looked like a game of tomorrow, and drew heavy inspiration from the classics us old-school JRPG fans were...

Midnight Society was founded by Beahm, as well as veterans of games like Call of Duty and Halo Robert Bowling and Quinn Delhyo. The studio's first game, Deadrop was meant to be a free-to-play FPS that would build on the team's expertise. Deadrop was...
Xbox's popular racing game Forza Horizon 5 is heading to PlayStation. In a surprise announcement, Playground Games announced that the most recent Forza Horizon game is coming to PS5 this spring. It will be the latest Xbox exclusive heading to the PlayStation console following Bethesda games like Starfield, Sea of Thieves, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The PS5 version was developed by Panic Button in partnership with Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games and will feature the same content as the Xbox and PC version. Furthermore, Car Packs, and the Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure expansions will also be included. The move comes amid growing interest from Xbox in releasing its games on non-Xbox platforms including PlayStation...
Firaxis Games has unveiled its Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 post-launch roadmap as part of a special livestream event today. The team came prepared, revealing names and release windows for a few of the more substantial updates it has planned to launch throughout 2025. Several DLC pack collections are on the way for those who plan to stick with the seventh entry in the long-running strategy series in the months ahead, with things like additional Leaders, Civilizations, and Natural Wonders set to be included. Alongside the paid drops arriving in the spring and summer, players can expect free Civilization 7 content to launch via patches, events, and more. Headlining the paid DLC is a two-part release called the Crossroads of the World...
On day three of my visit to Capcom in Osaka, Japan, I once again sat in a dimly lit conference room. I was playing Monster Hunter Wilds, empty cans of coffee and tea strewn around my station. “You must be tired of being stuck in here playing,” said a friendly employee. All I could think was: “I wish I could play more.” This is after I played the first five hours of Monster Hunter Wild’s story and hunted four monsters in the Oilwell Basin in a different play state. I just couldn’t get enough; there are so many nuances to master with the new weapon and gameplay features and I’m the type of person who wants to scrutinize everything and figure out exactly how everything works through repetition and experimentation. I’m a guides writer - it...
Monster Hunter Wilds introduces many changes, new features, and quality-of-life improvements to the Monster Hunter series. But did you know the developers were experimenting with ideas for this behemoth of a new installment all the way back during Monster Hunter World’s crossover events? Specifically, suggestions from Final Fantasy 14’s director, Naoki Yoshida, made during the FFXIV crossover and positive reception to The Witcher 3 crossover directly affected new gameplay elements in Monster Hunter Wilds. In short, conversations with Yoshi-P while collaborating for the FFXIV crossover inspired a change to Monster Hunter Wilds’ heads-up display (HUD): introducing attack names appearing on screen as you perform them. As for The Witcher 3...

Upcoming Xbox RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the latest video game revealed to be getting a film adaptation, with plans in the works already despite the game not having even released yet. This comes by way of a Variety report, which says that developer Sandfall Interactive has partnered with Story Kitchen for the film version, and Kepler Interactive will publish. Sandfall and Story Kitchen confirmed the adaptation to the publication, and Story Kitchen founders Dmitri M. Johnson and Mike Goldberg, along with Timothy I. Stevenson and Elena Sandoval will produce. No other details about the film such as casting or a release window were offered. It's hard to imagine a Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 film simply because the work it's based...
Science fiction has a long history of telling poignant human stories through the lens of non-human subjects. 2022’s Citizen Sleeper earned its place alongside stories like Blade Runner almost instantly thanks to its introspective interrogation of personhood and community in a world where all of it feels fragile, and this sequel’s strong, system-hopping story consistently hits the same highs. And though it can be very slow paced, repetitive, and full of walls of text, a byproduct of its tabletop-inspired design, overhauled survival systems, new multilayered crew missions, and an upgraded sense of tension in every dice roll makes Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector more engaging more often. Citizen Sleeper’s RPG qualities resemble pen...
Team Ninja will release a Ninja Gaiden 2 Black update in mid February to make “balance adjustments” and add “additional features.” The update was announced on X/Twitter but little was said about what it includes specifically. Players have already replied to the post with features they’d like to see, including options to tweak camera movement as well as a more traditional new game plus option, but Team Ninja has only said it will address “feedback” received so far. No release date was announced. “Based on the feedback received, we are preparing a patch aimed for release in mid February with some balance adjustments and additional features,” the studio said. Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, which shadow dropped for players on PC, PlayStation 5...
There's only one thing worse than being chased across the desert by a sandworm in Dune: Awakening, and that's getting eaten by a sandworm in Dune: Awakening. Not only does the giant phallic cretin suck you down into the bowels of Arrakis, it eats everything you're carrying. Your clothes, your weapons, and especially your Spice Liquor. Suddenly you're respawning at your base in nothing but your underwear and are forced to do the run of shame across the sands to start rebuilding your inventory. It's easy to be sceptical about an MMO survival game set in the Duniverse, but after a few bouts of dehydration and sunstroke, the day I spent in Arrakis convinced me that Dune: Awakening is one to watch. More than that, if the developer can...
I found a lot of joy in Hello Kitty Island Adventure when I first started playing its closed beta for IGN’s guide, way back before it hit Apple Arcade in 2023. Getting to create my own little Sanrio character and run around a tropical island collecting bits and bobs to gift to my new animal friends was pretty relaxing and fun. But day by day, that motivation to complete all my quests, find missing friends, and unlock new regions started to wear off. At a certain point it felt like a chore to log in, spam friends with gifts until I hit obnoxious daily limits, and hope I’d be allowed to progress my friendship levels a little further. Sadly, it’s the same situation on Switch and PC a year and change later: this island is still just as...
The Directorate: Novitiate is a new narrative-driven, single-player, third-person action-RPG set in the underbelly of Los Angeles in a magic-infused world of 2006. You play as Kana Luna, aka Mercury, and you can expect to mix guns, magic, story, and player choices within the Dark Syndicate in what developer Nesting Games hopes will be one of 2025's most memorable games. Third-person gunplay mixes with magic spells as you set out to catch a supernatural serial killer. You'll upgrade your offensive and defensive skills along the way, granting you agency in gameplay. But you'll also have it in the narrative, as well, where Nesting says, "Even romance has risks. Every choice has consequences. Choose whether to stay loyal to the Edicts of...
Sony’s Marvel Spider-Man 2 swings onto PC today, January 30, and while the intrepid webslinger’s port plans have been in the works for a while, we didn’t know exactly how well it might run on PCs until now. On the PlayStation Blog, developer Nixxes Software shared all the fancy PC features available in the port, which has been developed to “finetune performance and fidelity across a broad range of hardware configurations." Accompanying a new trailer, below, Spider-Man 2 on PC drops the hard PSN requirement for PC players and adds advanced raytracing features such as DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction. “In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC with ray reconstruction enabled, we see more detailed ray-traced reflections and better-defined ray-traced...
Key Dragon Age developers have announced they are leaving BioWare after the developer restructured to focus on the next Mass Effect. Yesterday, January 29, IGN reported that BioWare had moved a number of the studio’s developers onto other projects within EA as it focuses entirely on Mass Effect 5. General manager Gary McKay said the studio is "taking this opportunity between full development cycles to reimagine how we work." "Given this stage of development, we don’t require support from the full studio,” McKay continued. “We have incredible talent here at BioWare, and so we have worked diligently over the past few months to match many of our colleagues with other teams at EA that had open roles that were a strong fit." IGN...
The developer of the Path of Exile games has apologized to fans of the first game after putting a new update on hold until a crucial update for Path of Exile 2 is out the door. Grinding Gear Games had promised fans that it would continue to update action RPG Path of Exile 1, which has been running for over 10 years now, through the release of Path of Exile 2 in early access and beyond. However, Path of Exile 1’s 3.26 update, which was originally planned for release late October before the Path of Exile 2 launch, then planned for mid-February this year, is now delayed further, with all hands on deck sorting out Path of Exile 2’s problems. Path of Exile 1's last league release was Settlers of Kalguur in July 2024. In a video message...
Assetto Corsa Evo is easily one of the most exciting racing games of 2025. The huge open-world map of German countryside surrounding the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife that developer Kunos Simulazioni is currently crafting for it should make it one of the biggest in the genre. Literally, that is. The map is going to be 1,600 square kilometres in size. That’s about 15 Forza Horizon 5s. However, we’ll need to be patient for that, as the first chunk of it isn’t set to arrive in Evo’s evolving early access version until mid-year, and then grow from there. For now, at least, we get five tracks and 20 cars to noodle around in. The good news is that the driving feel is unsurprisingly fabulous, right out of the gate. At this point, however...
