Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a game all about shooting guns and killing other players. At least, that’s how it’s meant to be played. Not for one determined pacifist, however, who has managed to Prestige without killing a single player.
Redditor Pilgore revealed his in-game stats after reaching Prestige 1, confirming a remarkable 0.00 K/D after 111 games, or 19 hours and 26 minutes of Multiplayer. That means he managed to gain enough experience to level up past 55 and trigger Prestige despite having zero kills. Perhaps even more remarkable, Pilgore achieved the feat with a 1.92 win ratio.
How did Pilgore manage it? Why do this in the first place? And where does he go from here? IGN interviewed Pilgore, real name John, to find out...
Ubisoft is being sued by two gamers in California over its shutdown of open-world racing game The Crew in March.
A class action lawsuit spotted by Polygon was filed November 4 by Matthew Cassell, who bought The Crew from a GameStop in early 2020, and Alan Liu, who also bought it from a GameStop but in November 2018.
Both plaintiffs were "under the impression" they were "paying to own and possess the video game The Crew instead of paying for a limited license to use The Crew." This license over product argument will likely be at the crux of Ubisoft's defence.
You never knew that the manufacturer could come in one day, and, without your control, leave you with a skeleton of what you thought you paid for.
"Imagine you buy a pinball...
In The Valley of Gods, the hotly anticipated follow-up to Firewatch from developer Campo Santo, was put on hold after Valve acquired the company back in 2018. Now, years later, it remains on hold, but one Valve developer has given fans a glimpse at what might have been.
Announced during the 2017 Game Awards, In The Valley of Gods is set in Egypt during the late 1920s. It stars Rashida and Zora, a pair of documentary filmmakers who accidentally made it big with a hit movie but have since seen their careers go off a cliff. They reunite years later after receiving information about the lost Tomb of Nefertiti, with a goal of reigniting their careers by documenting their trip to Egypt.
Valve visual effects developer Matt Wilde took to...
Hideaki Itsuno, famed former director of the Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma series, has joined Tencent Games subsidiary LightSpeed Studios.
Itsuno, who left Capcom earlier this year after over 30 years at the Japanese games company, announced the formation of a new developer called LightSpeed Japan Studio, with offices in Tokyo and Osaka. Most exciting for fans, however, is Itsuno’s plan to focus on developing original AAA action games, something he built his career doing at Capcom.
Itsuno’s long list of credits includes the likes of Rival Schools, Power Stone, the Devil May Cry series, and most recently, the Dragon’s Dogma games. He was the director of Dragon’s Dogma 2, which launched earlier this year and goes down as Itsuno’s...
If you also got addicted to claiming new skins in Insomniac's Spidey series as I did, today's your day. There is some new Spidey 2 spandex available for Pete and Miles, plus the freebie train continues with a couple of PC handouts worth redeeming. Beyond that, this is a very CoD-centric day—past and discounted present. So maybe go quickscope yourself a saving.
In retro news, I'm lighting a 16-shaped cake for Call of Duty: World at War. In the First Person Shooter wing of my gaming museum, WaW stands out as a pivotal, er... CoD piece. Back in the day, I travelled to Treyarch to preview this and was highly impressed with its co-op campaign (2P split or 4 online), the inaugural version of Nazi Zombies, and the way military advisor Hank...
The Steam Deck is getting a brand new color starting net week. Valve announced on Monday that a white version of the Steam Deck OLED will be available in limited quantities starting November 18, offering users who don't want to go through the trouble of purchasing custom skins a bit more variety.
The newly-revealed Steam Deck OLED: White Edition will have all the same specs as the one terabyte model and will be available everywhere the Steam Deck currently ships, including Australia. It is the second unique Steam Deck colorway to be announced, following on from the smoky translucent version released last year.
"Last year, we released a smoky translucent limited edition Steam Deck OLED as an experiment to find out if there was...
Overwatch 2 is taking a page from WoW Classic and returning to the beginning, announcing a brand-new Overwatch Classic mode featuring the original 21 heroes and 12 maps from the 2016 release.
The nostalgia mode, which launches Tuesday and continues over the course of three weeks, will feature key moments from Overwatch history, Blizzard says. It'll begin with the original 1.0 version from launch, with no limits on which characters you can pick, meaning you can theoretically have a team full of tanks or Torbjörns. And yes, it will be 6v6, though Blizzard says it's unrelated to its experiments with bringing the format back to Overwatch 2.
"Overwatch Classic is separate from our broader 6v6 plans. Overwatch Classic is meant to be a...
Stellar Blade gets its highly anticipated Nier: Automata downloadable content on November 20 as part of a larger update that also includes a photo mode.
A PlayStation Blog post from Stellar Blade developer Shift Up said "Nier: Automata significantly inspired Stellar Blade" and the DLC is "marked by mutual respect and creativity" between the games' directors: Yoko Taro and Kim Hyung Tae respectively.
A handful of screenshots showed Nier: Automata protagonist 2B in the world of Stellar Blade alongside the iconic but bizarre Emil. "Emil’s Shop makes a surprise appearance in the world of Stellar Blade where 11 different collaboration-special items will be available," the post said. "Items that intertwine the best of both games, leading...
Prime Video’s It's In The Game: Madden NFL has its first trailer, showcasing the ups and downs of development over the last 36 years.
The four-part documentary kicks off on November 26, and includes interviews with a number of EA developers as well as NFL stars (some of whom are upset about their in-game ratings) in a bid to shine a light on Madden’s trials and tribulations over the decades.
The trailer reveals concern about the state of the game from John Madden himself, who apparently wasn't a big fan the first time he saw a game demo. It also includes a short segment on the negative reaction to some of the Madden games, with disgruntled fans letting EA know how they feel in various comments (“still trash… big pass” etc). There’s...
UPDATE: Microsoft has confirmed the release of Spyro Reignited Trilogy on Game Pass.
In a blog post, Microsoft said Spyro Reignited Trilogy hits Game Pass tomorrow, November 12. That's on Game Pass Standard, Game Pass Ultimate, and PC Game Pass, for cloud, console and PC.
ORIGINAL STORY: Microsoft has teased the addition of Spyro the Dragon to the Xbox Game Pass subscription service.
In a thinly veiled X/Twitter post from Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft published a short teaser showing a chest, with the message: “Hey uhh who left this chest here?”
The official Spyro account replied with those eyes that mean something is definitely happening but hasn’t been properly announced yet.
This is all pointing to a Game Pass launch for Toys for...
Konami has revealed that one of the reasons it greenlit the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is because younger gamers aren’t familiar with the series anymore.
Speaking to Play and shared by GamesRadar, series producer Noriaki Okamura admitted Konami is looking to capture a new audience with the remake, which arrives 20 years after the original Metal Gear Solid 3 and nine years after the last mainline entry.
“One of the things that really sparked us to do the remake in general is because we realized that a lot of the newer, younger generation of gamers aren’t familiar with the Metal Gear series anymore,” he said.
“It was basically our mission, our duty, to kind of continue making sure that the series lives on for future generations. After...
Welcome back to another wonderful week of discounts with the guy who lives and breathes gaming. And not just any games, my friend—the best ones actually worth buying / playing / storing in a shameful pile to probably never be touched again. Personally, I'm all about the surprisingly early 30%+ discounts I'm seeing on Dragon Age Veilguard and Star Wars Outlaws. So maybe start saving there.
In retro news, I'm commemorating the 19th anniversary of Resident Evil 4, a port that blew PS2 owner minds like a .223 calibre Semi-Auto Rifle round to the melon. Though I'd already dropped about 60 hours incessantly replaying this via my (better looking and sounding) GameCube version, I recall being instantly re-smitten when I booted this on...

If I could time-travel back to any gaming moment, it would be the release of Halo 2 back on November 9, 2004. I have never in my entire life, both personally and professionally, experienced such hype and anticipation in the run-up to a major game release – and then somehow also seen that game actually live up to all of it. But Halo 2 did! It was the long-awaited (and delayed) sequel to the very reason the Xbox established itself in the console space at all, and thus it carried the weight of the entire Xbox world on its shoulders. If you were in or around the Xbox community in 2004, you no doubt remember it. I was lucky enough to cover Halo 2 for Official Xbox Magazine before, during, and after its release, and so I thought I’d take this...

There’s a line in our Dragon Age: The Veilguard review that has stuck with me throughout my own playthrough: “It’s hilarious that no one ever says the word ‘Veilguard’ out loud across the 100 hours I played of this dialogue-packed campaign, exposing a last-minute marketing pivot for what it was.”
While I’m nowhere near the 100-hour mark myself, that line is so far proving true – not a single character has mentioned The Veilguard. My team of D&D archetype oddballs may collectively be known as such in all the marketing, online articles, and the physical box itself, but within the world of Thedas they’re none the wiser. Imagine Tony Stark and Steve Rogers having no idea the world called them Avengers… that’s how odd it is.
A name that...
Metal Slug is a classic run-and-gun series that’s all about over-the-top action and completely absurd guns. It’s a classic for a reason, but it’s sort of been non-existent in recent years outside of a cross-over outing in Vampire Survivors. Well, that’s all changed now, thanks to Metal Slug Tactics, which takes the game from its […]

Tony Todd, the voice of Spider-Man 2's Venom among many other roles, has died at 69. Deadline was the first to report the news.
Todd appeared in numerous roles across a long career dating back to the 1980s, including Platoon, Final Destination, and Star Trek: The Next Generation, where he played Worf's lost brother, Kurn. Todd's career in horror, which included a title role in 1992's Candyman, earned him a Lifetime Achieveement Award at the New York City Horror Film Festival.
More recently, Todd had a starring role in Insomniac's Spider-Man 2, and we spoke to him about embodying the essence of Venom ahead of last year's release. Todd also hinted that Insomniac had only used 10 percent of his character's dialogue, setting off...
Another Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 patch is here, and with it comes an additional nerf to that troublesome Recon Combat Specialty Perk and a dedicated 10v10 Moshpit playlist.
Treyarch pulled back the curtain on the November 8 update with a post on its website today, revealing a smaller patch that tackles some of the issues players have continued to deal with since launch. The emergence of a playlist for 10v10 might be what has most frothing at the mouth, though, as it offers bigger lobbies across many of Black Ops 6’s Multiplayer maps. Included in the list of maps is Nuketown, a map that is already notoriously chaotic in 6v6 matches, so expect even more chaos when hopping in for 10v10. While the standard Nuketown 24/7 playlist option...
Sony has reflected on the disastrous launch of PlayStation 5 game Concord, saying it’s still learning when it comes to live service games.
Concord, a live service hero shooter from Sony-owned Firewalk Studios, has gone down as one of the biggest flops in PlayStation history. Amid disastrously low player numbers, Sony hauled Concord offline just two weeks after launch. It eventually shuttered Firewalk and confirmed Concord wouldn’t return.
It has proved a costly failure for Sony. Concord's initial development deal was around $200 million according to a report by Kotaku, which cited two sources familiar with the agreement. They said the $200 million was not enough to fund Concord's entire development, nor did it include the purchase of...
Cardy, Matt, and Emma have been playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Do they like it? Listen to find out. They've also been tinkering with the PS5 Pro, as well as watching the enjoyable Paddington in Peru and touching The Remarkable Life of Ibelin. There's also time for a bit of Pokemon TCG Pocket, Black Ops 6, and Play-Doh chat. Lovely.

This is truly the season of savings, with plenty of fantastic deals popping up at various retailers in the lead-up to Black Friday. While not part of Black Friday sales specifically, Woot's offering some great video game deals right now as part of their ongoing 'Fall In Love With Video Games' sale event, including an excellent discount on the Silent Hill 2 Remake for PS5.
Currently the game is marked down $10 from its $69.99 list price to $59.99. This also marks a new all-time low for the game, as price tracker camelcamelcamel had the game's lowest price at Amazon listed as $64.99, which makes this deal even better. If you've been waiting for an opportunity to pick it up, there's no better time than now.

LEGO-licensed video games have arguably been one of the most prolific series in the games industry for the past couple of decades. Truly getting its momentum with LEGO Star Wars back in 2005, the house that the plastic bricks built would soon bring other popular franchises into its fold such as Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, […]

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launched day one on Game Pass — the first Call of Duty game to do so following Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
It was a big gamble for Microsoft, with some analysts predicting a significant decline in game sales, particularly on Xbox, as a result. But in its recent financial report, Microsoft sounded delighted with Black Ops 6’s early days performance, saying sales on PlayStation and PC were 60% higher compared to the 2023 release of Modern Warfare 3.
All eyes were on Black Ops 6’s impact on Game Pass, though. Growth in Microsoft’s subscription service has stalled in recent years, and the day one release of the latest entry in Activision’s phenomenally successful first-person...
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 modders have made significant progress improving the game, even solving one of its biggest problems since launch.
Ever since Space Marine 2’s record-breaking launch in September, players have faced the prospect of awkwardness before they set out on a co-op mission — awkwardness that makes simply playing the class you want more frustrating than it should be.
Space Marine 2 includes three-player co-op missions as part of Operations mode. These co-op missions are set during the game’s campaign, but with different characters who are off doing other missions that tie in to the events that follow main character Titus.
Operations mode restricts a squad to one Space Marine of each class. So, for example, it...
Palworld developer Pocketpair has provided an update on Nintendo and The Pokémon Company’s high-profile patent lawsuit against the company.
According to Pocketpair, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company want 5 million yen (approx $32,846) each plus late payment damages, as well as an injunction against Palworld that would block its release.
Pocketpair also confirmed the Japan-based patents, which revolve around catching Pokémon in a virtual field, that it's being sued for allegedly infringing. After Palworld’s huge launch earlier this year on PC and Xbox, comparisons were made between Palworld’s Pals and Pokémon, with some accusing Pocketpair of "ripping off" Pokémon designs. But rather than file a copyright infringement lawsuit, Nintendo...
Sony Santa Monica has finally released Patch 6 for the PlayStation 5 version of God of War Ragnarok that tones down companion puzzle hints (and adds PS5 Pro support).
Game version 06.00 is now live and, according to a blog post, includes a handful of bug fixes alongside the gameplay upgrades added in the PC version of God of War Ragnarok six weeks ago. These are, most notably, the addition of audio descriptions and the aforementioned ability to reduce companion puzzle hints.
Though 2022's God of War Ragnarok was incredibly well received, selling a whopping 11 million copies in less than three months and earning a 10/10 in IGN's review, one gripe players had was with companions throwing out puzzle solutions before players had a chance...
Sony’s video game business saw impressive growth during the most recent financial quarter, boosted by sales of blockbuster action game Black Myth: Wukong that more than made up for the disastrous launch of Concord.
Sony’s Game & Network Services (G&NS) division, which includes PlayStation, brought in 1,071.5 billion yen (approx $7 billion) during the second quarter of the financial year (July to September 2024). That’s a “significant increase” of 12% year-on-year, Sony said. Profit tripled to 138.8 billion yen (approx $911 million), up a whopping 184% year-on-year. Those positive results were good enough for Sony to raise its financial year forecast for its gaming business.
Sony said the boost to revenue came from an increase in...
This review covers the multiplayer mode of Empire of the Ants. For the campaign, read the single-player campaign review. In short: It's very bad!
Empire of the Ants is striking to look at. For a moment, you might even believe it’s real macro-lens footage of ants in a nature documentary, and the level of detail on the textures of the forest floor is extremely impressive. It’s not really what it appears to be, though: this may be a real-time strategy game with swarms of insects on screen at once, but you’re never actually commanding more than seven units – and given the somewhat clumsy way its controls make you cycle through them to give orders, that’s a mercy. You may be capturing and building up nests, but there’s literally nothing...
