Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Has Already Sold 1 Million Copies, Dev Calls It a ‘Triumph’
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 looks like a massive hit, with one million copies sold just a day after launch. Warhorse Studios' medieval Europe action RPG sequel launched on February 4 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, and soon shot to the upper echelons of Steam’s most-played games list. On Valve’s platform, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 hit a peak of 159,351 concurrents, a number that will surely grow as it heads into its first weekend on sale. For context, the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance hit a peak Steam concurrent player count of 96,069 seven years ago. It’s worth noting that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s actual peak concurrent player count will be bigger, given the game launched on console as well as PC...

Star Wars Outlaws Is on Sale for $40
For those who have been hoping to pick up Ubisoft's latest release set in a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars Outlaws for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X has dropped to $40 at Amazon. This deal marks a discount of over 40% from its list price of $69.99, making it well worth jumping on before the price goes back up. And this deal may not stick around for long, either, as Amazon has the Xbox Series X version listed as a limited time deal at the moment, so you'll want to act fast to secure it at this price. Star Wars Outlaws Is Discounted to $40 at Amazon We found a lot to love in Star Wars Outlaws upon release. In our review, IGN's Tristan Ogilvie said, "As far as Star Wars video games go, we’ve taken countless turns at twirling...
MultiVersus Players Praise Major Season 5 Gameplay Changes Ahead of Server Shutdown — and Now #SaveMultiVersus Is Trending Online
MultiVersus will shut down when Season 5 ends in May, but the sweeping changes to combat speed that were introduced in a new update have fans enjoying its gameplay now more than ever — and even sparked a #SaveMultiVersus trend on social media. The community for the Warner Bros. platform fighting game woke up ready to dive into its fifth and final season when it launched yesterday, February 4, at 9am PT. Developer Player First Games had spelled out plans to shutter the project last week, teasing that the update would include DC’s Aquaman and Looney Toons’ Lola Bunny as its last playable characters. What was poised to be a somber sendoff for MultiVersus actually brought on extensive movement changes across the board, resulting in a much...
EA Says Madden and FC Might Find ‘Real Energy’ on Nintendo Switch 2
As you’d expect, EA is eyeing the Nintendo Switch 2 as a platform for its games. In a recent financial call, CEO Andrew Wilson was asked directly about Nintendo’s next-gen console, and he replied to suggest the company has plans to release many of its games there. Wilson singled out EA's money-spinning sports franchises, Madden and FC, as potentially finding “real energy” on Nintendo Switch 2, and also pointed to The Sims as a game that could do well on the console. “Anytime a new console comes into the marketplace that's of a benefit to us, it gives us the ability to access and acquire new players,” Wilson said. “Typically, we've had franchises perform very well on Nintendo platforms. Certainly our expectation is that products like...
Apex Legends Isn’t Doing the Business for EA, So It’s Making Apex Legends 2.0 to Come Out After Battlefield
As Respawn’s battle royale Apex Legends nears its sixth birthday, EA has said it’s failing to do the business for the company, and outlined plans for what it called Apex Legends 2.0. Speaking in a financial call on its third quarter results, EA said that Apex Legends net bookings (revenue) were down year-over-year, but performed in-line with the company’s expectations. During a question and answers session with analysts, EA CEO Andrew Wilson was asked for an update on the performance of Apex Legends, and his response was clear: Apex Legends is a huge game with millions of players, but it’s simply not making enough money for EA. “Apex is probably one of the great new launches in our industry over the last decade and has been loved by...
EA CEO Says Dragon Age: The Veilguard Failed to 'Resonate With a Broad Audience,' Gamers Increasingly Want 'Shared-World Features'
EA CEO Andrew Wilson has commented on the financial failure of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, saying it failed to "resonate with a broad enough audience." Last week, EA restructured Dragon Age developer BioWare to focus on Mass Effect 5 only, meaning some who worked on The Veilguard were moved to projects at other EA studios. The decision followed EA’s announcement that Dragon Age: The Veilguard had underperformed on its expectations for the long-awaited action RPG. EA said Dragon Age "engaged" 1.5 million players during its recent financial quarter, which was down nearly 50% from the company's projections. IGN has chronicled some of Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s development challenges, including layoffs and the departure of several...

In retro news, I’ve whipped up a wumpa fruit-flavoured cake for Crash Bandicoot 2's 26th birthday. I can vividly recall getting my arse handed to me at launch as I tried to jump, spin, body slam, slide, duck, and "death route" conquer my way to every gem needed for its secret ending. I also have fond memories of a Simpsons pisstake of this franchise deployed around the same year. Apparently, "Dash Dingo" needed to find...

Destiny 2: Heresy Has Missing Voice Lines Due to Ongoing SAG-AFTRA Strike, Bungie Warns
Destiny 2's next Episode, Heresy, is just around the corner. The "final epilogue entry" for the Light and Darkness Saga will have some unvoiced lines of dialogue though, due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. In the recent This Week In Destiny update, Bungie said its teams have taken care to deliver the narrative and story content, but warned that certain voice lines will be silent due to the ongoing Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists strike. Subtitles will be enabled by default so players don't miss any story, and Bungie outlined a number of accessibility and visibility options for said subtitles. Heresy activities that have missing voice acting will display a warning before launch. The SAG-AFTRA...
PGA Tour 2K25: The Final Preview
If you took a Family Feud-style survey of which pro sports simulation video game series people would most want 2K to take a crack at that they’re not already making, a resurrection of NFL 2K would easily be the number-one answer. Heck, pro golf might not even be the second or third answer (hello, MLB and NHL). But the company is nevertheless returning for a third round with PGA Tour 2K25, and after playing for a couple of hours, there’s a lot to like. In truth, developer HB Studios has been honing its golf game for quite a while now, having made The Golf Club starting a decade ago before signing on with 2K and rebranding to PGA Tour 2K in 2020. The team’s experience and maturity shine through in 2K25, as I had a hard time finding any...
Breakout Beyond Puts a New Angle on Atari's Classic Brick-Breaker
The 1976 classic Breakout is getting a new look, nearly 50 years later. Breakout Beyond is a twist on Atari's brick-breaker, keeping the same paddle-and-ball setup but having it all move sideways. Developed by Choice Provisions, the studio behind the BIT.TRIP series, Breakout Beyond has a sideways progression path as players move left-to-right. Breaking bricks is still the objective, and as combos ramp up lights and effects intensify. Special bricks can flip on some fantastic effects too, ranging from massive explosions to an actual laser cannon. 72 levels are planned for Breakout Beyond, alongside an unlockable endless mode with an online global leaderboard. If you don't want to break bricks alone, Breakout Beyond also has local...

Another Crab’s Treasure (Console), Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (Console), and Starfield (Xbox Series X|S) all hit Game Pass Standard then. And...
Helldivers 2’s Latest Update Secretly Added Shovels to the Game — and Players Are Trying to Unearth the Reason Why
Hot on the heels of Helldivers 2’s latest update, patch 01.002.101, going live, players have noticed developer Arrowhead used it to secretly add a new tool to the game: a shovel. Players have discovered the shovel as a POI item dotted about the map, and have found they’re able to actually dig into the ground with it to create makeshift cover. Redditor The_Fighter03 alerted the community to the find with a video clip, below, showing the new shovel in action. Arrowhead failed to make any mention in today’s update 01.002.101, nor has it explained why shovels are all of a sudden in the game. But fans had wondered whether the patch had more to it than Arrowhead let on, given it weighed in at over 5GB. Perhaps the terrain deformation /...
Assassin's Creed Shadows Art Book Leaks on a Hentai Site, of All Places
New details about the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows are circulating online after an artbook purportedly leaked on, among other places, a hub for hentai. Spotted over on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, an artbook entitled "The Art of Assassin's Creed Shadows" has been spreading like wildfire around the internet. It contains several hundred pages of concept art, quotations, and development info surrounding the next Assassin's Creed. The leak itself is notable, but the post on Reddit also alleged it originated from a site known for hosting hentai. Bizarre, to say the least. IGN has asked Ubisoft for comment. The gallery had already been removed from the site in question, but has since been archived in other file-sharing sites and...
Civilization 7 Dev Firaxis Remains Coy on Nintendo Switch 2 ‘Mouse’ Joy-Con
If you watched the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal video, you’ll have spotted what looked like a ‘mouse’ mode for the Joy-Cons. During the reveal trailer, there's a moment where a pair of detached Joy-Cons are lowered onto a surface, attachment side down. They connect to a pair of connectors that seem to have relatively flat bottoms, and then slide across the surface like a mouse on a mouse pad. If you look closely, you can even see something that looks like a slider pad on the bottom of one of the connectors, leading further credence to the theory. Rumors had been flying in the lead-up to the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal that this would be possible due to a sensor on the inside of the Joy-Cons similar to the sensor on the bottom of a computer...
Helldivers 2’s First Big Update of 2025 Lets You Emote While Ragdolling Once Again, Tweaks Balance, and More
Arrowhead has released Helldivers 2's first big update of 2025, making a number of important changes to the game. Patch 01.002.101, out now, increases the duration of the gas status effect from spray weapons, returns the ability to emote while flying or ragdolling, and makes a number of other balance changes and fixes. Helldivers 2 is nearing its first anniversary, and with the arrival of the Illuminate enemy faction breathing new life into the game, players are wondering what’s next in the ongoing meta narrative that is the Galactic War. Fans also suspect this update sneakily adds new content as well as the balance changes and fixes, given it weighs in at over 5GB. And it’s worth highlighting this particular change, just because...
AU Deals: A Hundred Off a Switch OLED, Cheaper Black Ops 6, an Erdtree Trimmed Down, and More!
No matter your platform of choice, I’ve found the deals of the day that'll disappear faster than a rare loot drop. Cases in points: A cool hundred off the crisp vibrancy of a Switch OLED White and 75% off a BAFTA-winning narrative-driven must-play. I’m also all about hooking you creative types up with a freebie on RPG Maker VX Ace—an engine behind many indie gems. And, being the mild sadist that I am, I’m very keen to usher some new victims into The Lands Between with a cheap deal on Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Edition. In retro news, I’m using the nearby explosion of a Camaro to light 26 candles on a cake baked for Rush 2: Extreme Racing USA. This N64 cult classic expanded on its predecessor, San Francisco Rush, with more...

EA Puts Criterion’s Need for Speed Team on Battlefield, Confirms No More Content Coming to NFS Unbound
EA has confirmed the end of support for Need for Speed Unbound just over two years after the game came out as its developer goes all in on the next Battlefield. UK studio Criterion Games, best-known for the much-loved Burnout series, developed Need for Speed Unbound for launch in December 2022 and recently rounded out its second year of updates. IGN has confirmed with EA that this marks the end of new content for Need for Speed Unbound, and the Need for Speed team within Criterion is now, alongside the rest of the studio, working on Battlefield. The game will remain on-sale so players can continue to play the base game and all nine content drops. “The Need for Speed team at Criterion are joining their colleagues working on...
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Review
Some days I’ve moped about how I'll never get back the feeling I had the first time I played Skyrim. And then Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 arrived on a mighty steed to sweep me off my feet at full gallop. Armed with excellent, skill-focused melee combat and a rousing, action-packed medieval saga fit for a Hollywood blockbuster, it's one part sequel and one part coronation, bringing a lot of the original's ideas to fruition in the same way The Witcher 3 did for CD Projekt Red or Greedfall did for Spiders. No game of this scope and scale is without some technical scuff, of course, and its competing design goals are occasionally at war with themselves just as much as our hero Henry is internally. But even still, its majesty is hard to deny...
Civilization 7 Review
There's one historical movie scene that comes to mind for me when I think about Sid Meier's Civilization 7, and it's not a flashy arena fight in Gladiator or mission control cheering as we safely bring Apollo 13 back home. It's Leo DiCaprio as Howard Hughes in The Aviator, running his hand along an airplane fuselage and insisting that he doesn't want to see any rivets. There's some method to the madness of smoothing out the texture in its design, and at times I can see why Firaxis went in this direction. But while its takes some good swings with combat and diplomacy and it is still overall a good time to build a civilization from the ground up, I find that this obsessive streamlining is more often than not to the long-awaited 4X...
2025's Longest Games Are Coming in The Shortest Month
Despite being the shortest month, February’s place in the bleak and dismal ass-crack of winter for half the planet often makes it drag. In 2025 though, there aren’t enough hours in the day or days in the month to fit all the massive games that are coming out. But it’s not so much the quantity of new releases as it is the density of a select few, because some of the year’s longest games are dropping in the shortest month. If any of your friends are major history buffs, you should probably check and make sure they’re okay over the next couple of weeks. If they’re unresponsive it’s likely they’re completely immersed in – or frozen with decision paralysis – over the two huge games that come out in February: Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 and...
Sony PlayStation State of Play Reportedly Set for Next Week
Sony is reportedly set to deliver its now-standard February PlayStation State of Play broadcast next week. Leaker NateTheHate, who accurately revealed the date of Nintendo’s Switch 2 reveal ahead of time, took to social media to tease a State of Play for Valentine’s Day week (February 10 to 14). It’s speculation time! What could Sony have up its sleeve for this year’s State of Play? It’s worth going through the first-party games it has announced and coming out in 2025. Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Yotei currently has a 2025 release window. Perhaps we’ll get a fresh look at gameplay and a release date. Meanwhile, Bungie’s PvP extraction shooter Marathon may be set for a showing if it still plans to open playtesting up this year. There’s...
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Dev BioWare Reportedly Down to Fewer Than 100 Employees Following Layoffs and Staff Exits
BioWare is reportedly now down to fewer than 100 employees after a round of layoffs and staff exits following the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard and a restructure to focus on the next Mass Effect game. Bloomberg reported that BioWare was more than 200 people two years ago, when Dragon Age: The Veilguard was in the thick of its production. Last week, EA restructured BioWare to focus on Mass Effect 5 only, meaning some who worked on Dragon Age: The Veilguard were moved to projects at other EA studios. Game Developer reported that John Epler, Veilguard's creative director, was sent to work on Full Circle's upcoming skateboarding game Skate. Dragon Age: The Veilguard senior writer Sheryl Chee, meanwhile, was moved from BioWare to...
