22 games will be pulled from the PlayStation Plus library next month, including Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. PlayStation Plus is an online gaming service for PlayStation platforms that includes free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer, and member-exclusive discounts. It also includes a catalog of hundreds of current and classic games for Extra and Premium members. As noted by Push Square, the removal of 22 games on May 20 includes two high-profile first-party Sony PS3 games, both set to exit the PS Plus Premium library. That's because both Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 are no longer...
Breath of Fire IV is back from the dead on PC, 25 years after its original launch. Capcom’s much-loved role-playing game first launched on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, then in Europe a year later. The PC port came out in Europe and Japan in 2003. It revolves around a man called Ryu (not that other Capcom Ryu) who can turn into a dragon. He teams up with other warriors to prevent an emperor from destroying the world. As part of its ongoing Preservation Program, GOG has fully updated Breath of Fire IV for modern PCs and released it DRM-free on its platform. The enhanced version is fully optimized for modern systems, with Windows 10 and 11 compatibility. There’s both English and Japanese localizations, along...
Although Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has only been out for a day, but you can already grab Sandfall Interactive's well-received RPG at £10 off on console at Amazon UK and £8 off on PC at Fanatical. With these discounts, you can now grab the hit turn-based adventure for £39.95 on PS5 & Xbox physically, while a digital Steam copy for PC is now priced at £33.59. While these price slashes could be due to an effort to undercut The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered — which released just two days ago and will arguably eat into its player base — Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a critical darling that's well worth your money in its own right, even at full price. A 30-to-60-hour single-player game, Clair Obscur is an ambitious spin on...
Sydney Sweeney is set to star in the Split Fiction movie adaptation. A movie based on Hazelight’s game was reported to be in the works last month, with Story Kitchen, the video game adaptation specialist behind the Sonic films, said to be assembling writers, a director, and the cast. Now, according to Variety, Split Fiction is starting to take shape, with Madame Web star Sydney Sweeney signed on to appear in the film. Wicked director Jon M. Chu is down as the director, with the script written by Deadpool & Wolverine screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Story Kitchen is now reportedly taking this talent package out to Hollywood studios for an expected bidding war. The big question of course is which sister Sweeney will play...

In case you missed it, Heroes of Might and Magic was a turn-based strategy series where we led armies and heroes around a fantastic world, capturing towns and fighting creatures and evil overlords. Hell, in Heroes you could...

Oblivion is back, and it’s not just because Bethesda’s remaster is a nostalgia-fueled trip down memory lane. It’s because of all the funny faces. Oblivion Remastered, developed by remake specialist Virtuos using Unreal Engine 5, has a long list of visual and feature improvements. It runs at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second, as you'd expect, but other changes are more meaningful. Everything from the leveling systems to character creation, and combat animations to in-game menus have been improved. Meanwhile, there's lots of new dialogue, a proper third-person view, and new lip sync technology. The changes are going down well with fans, some of whom believe Oblivion Remastered would be more accurately described as a remake...
Electronic Arts has officially confirmed the release date for the next entry in the Madden NFL series, and it looks like the series is making the full leap to the current generation of consoles. Madden NFL 26 will debut on August 14, 2025 with a three-day early access period for Deluxe Edition pre-orders starting on August 11. The next pro football entry will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PC via EA app for Windows, Steam, and Epic, and on the Nintendo Switch 2. While Madden NFL 26 will see the series finally head to Nintendo's hybrid handheld console, it also means the series is leaving the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on the bench. Neither last-gen platform is confirmed for Madden NFL 26, so the series is fully...
Supermassive Games, the studio behind horror adventures like Until Dawn, The Quarry, and The Dark Pictures anthology series, has reportedly ceased development on an unannounced Blade Runner game. As reported by Insider Gaming, Supermassive was working on a "character focused, cinematic, action adventure" game about the last Blade Runner in 2065, called Blade Runner: Time To Live. The story would have allegedly followed a vintage Nexus-6 model named So-Lange, under orders to retire the leader of an underground replicant network, who gets betrayed and left for dead in a harsh environment, with gameplay broken up into stealth, combat, exploration, investigation, and dramatic character interactions. Insider Gaming reported that Blade...
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered’s shadow-drop release on April 22 took the internet by storm, but indie developers who planned to launch their game on that same day were left reeling. Jonas Antonsson, co-founder of indie publisher Raw Fury, took to social media to explain how “massive” shadow-drops from huge games like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered can cause everything else coming out at the same time to get “buried.” “I loved (when younger) and still absolutely love Oblivion and I’m personally excited to see it get a breath of new life and being introduced to a whole new generation of players,” Antonsson began. “But from the perspective of indies and indie publishers, this is the problem with these sort of...
The original Tron has a particularly interesting place in pop culture, delivering the first movie about video games and the hidden worlds within computers. So it's a wonder that the first film and its follow-ups still haven't made that many forays into video games proper after more than four decades since the 1982 original. Thankfully, recent attempts from developer Bithell Games have done more to push the concept of Tron beyond just the imagery of speeding light cycles and fast-paced identity disc combat to offer more of a look into the inner machinations of the Grid. With Tron: Catalyst, we have a new action game set within The Grid's neon, grey-soaked setting to uncover a larger conspiracy involving the impending end of the computer...
With The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered going down well with fans, thoughts are now turning to which Bethesda game is set for the remaster treatment next. And with many speculating Fallout 3 is coming (it was leaked back in 2023), how might Bethesda improve upon its 2008 post-apocalyptic role-playing game? Bruce Nesmith, one of Fallout 3’s designers, has pointed to the game’s “not good” gun combat, which he expects Bethesda would improve significantly for a remaster. Speaking to VideoGamer, Nesmith said Fallout 3 Remastered would have shooting more in-line with that of Fallout 4. “What did you see in Fallout 4? That will tell you what they felt was necessary to change from Fallout 3,” Nesmith said. “I know in Fallout 4 there...

11 bit studios has announced Frostpunk 1886, a remake of the first game due out in 2027. The Polish developer is using Unreal Engine 5 for this project, which it has revealed just over half a year after Frostpunk 2 came out. The first Frostpunk launched in 2018, so assuming the remake does come out in 2027, it’ll be nearly a decade on. Frostpunk is a city-building survival video game set in an alternate history late 19th century. You build and maintain a city during a worldwide volcanic winter, managing resources, making choices on how to survive, and exploring the area outside their city for survivors, resources, or other useful items. IGN’s Frostpunk review returned a 9/10. We said: “Frostpunk deftly mixes a variety of thematic...
EA has added a paid season pass to FC 25 in a first for its long-running soccer series. The EA Sports FC 25 Premium Pass is live now in-game and can be obtained with the earnable in-game virtual currency (500,000 UT Coins) or the virtual currency paid for with real-world money (1,000 FC Points, which cost $9.99). The paid track includes exclusive content and, crucially, tradeable packs. This means players of Ultimate Team (FC’s most popular and controversial mode) can sell the rewards obtained in the Premium Pass to other players for in-game currency that can then be used to buy the next Premium Pass (assuming they earn enough coins from the sale of those items in the auction house, of course). Rewards include a number of powerful...

Another Thursday, another unexpected avalanche of discounts worth digging yourself out from under. Whether you're chasing co-op chaos, heartstring-pulling indies, or high-octane epics with triple-A swagger, this week’s cross-platform sales bin is brimming with picks that are equal parts wallet-friendly and critically adored. There’s never been a better time to equip your wallet. This Day in Gaming 🎂 In retro news, I'm using a rocket start to light a 17-candle cake for Mario Kart Wii. I played the pedals off this pioneering entry, which added motorbikes, a trick-based drifting system, and the worldwide MP of Nintendo Wi-Fi online. Admittedly, my heart belongs to Mario Kart 64 above all, but I still couldn't put my Wii Steering Wheel...
Like a member of the Mythic Dawn popping out of a secret room to stab the emperor in the back, a remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has shown up out of nowhere, and it’s a dagger I’ll gladly throw myself on. As one of my favorite RPGs ever, it’s no surprise that I’ve already put in a full day’s worth of playing: I’ve closed a dozen Oblivion gates as the hero of Kvatch, made Faustian bargains with a bunch of Daedric gods, fought to become champion of the arena in the Imperial City, and am well on my way to completing a few of the faction questlines – and so far I’m quite impressed by the substantial upgrades of this new version. I recently revisited the original Oblivion, so with its shortcomings very clear in my mind, the...
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered reimagines one of Bethesda's most important games with new visuals, gameplay mechanics, and more, but that didn’t stop the team at Virtuos from including one of the original's most iconic lines. Most veteran Elder Scrolls fans have no doubt heard of Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf who can be found in the Temple of the One in the Imperial City. When Oblivion launched for PC and Xbox 360 more than 19 years ago, it was clear Tandilwe could use some speech training of her own. One of her voice lines is a recording of what has long been assumed to be mistakenly included audio of actress Linda Kenyon taking another stab at a line. As players began their trek through a revitalized...
I may have dabbled with Xbox in the early days, but at some point I made the full switch over to PC gaming. The high frequency of Steam sales has usually been enough to tide me over on newer releases. So while I knew Game Pass was out there and did occasionally offer some big name games, there was never a moment where it felt like it would be worth it for me, personally. Well, until yesterday. Bethesda and Virtuos shadow-dropping Oblivion Remastered straight onto Game Pass? A badly kept secret, but still an insane reveal. Tomorrow, the gaming subscription will get Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the stylish debut from Sandfall Interactive that takes inspiration from the JRPG greats. I have to admit, as a die-hard RPG fan: Microsoft, you...
The ferocious beasts of Monster Hunter Wilds have many dangerous, even lethal moves they can throw at you. Some players are finding some interesting ways to dodge those attacks though, like emoting their way around them. The Photo Pose Set Vol. 1 contains a few extra emotes players can purchase for $3.99 in Monster Hunter Wilds, including the Photo Pose: Vanish Sign. This can pop your hunter up into the air, leading one player to try dodging a specific attack in a very strange way, and succeeding. It's a neat interaction and fun, possibly consistent way to dodge Mizutsune's aquatic beam sweeps. As for whether this is a real advantage or not, it still seems only usable in very specific circumstances, and with a good deal of planning...
Assassin's Creed Shadows debuted last month to become the best-selling game in the U.S. for March 2025 in dollar sales. This is according to analytics firm Circana, which reports that Shadows has also become the second best-selling game so far this year, trailing only Monster Hunter: Wilds and ahead of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. It was also the best-selling game on Xbox in March, and second best-selling game on PlayStation and Steam. We reached out to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella for a bit more context on Assassin's Creed: Shadows' success. He told us that Shadows' launch was the third-biggest in franchise history in the U.S., following Assassin's Creed 3 and Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. "It's a great start, so now we'll have to...
Developer Sway State Games has announced Into a Hearth Yonder, a new cozy creature-collecting MMO-lite with a charmingly colorful art style that's in the works for PC. It's due out next year. Players in Into a Hearth Yonder, whether playing solo or with friends, will explore the world of Viteria with your loyal following of automata – little companions that can augment your gameplay, like by buffing combat, farming, fishing, mining, and crafting. "We thought it would be fun to embody player stats and skills as cute, Tamagotchi-like automata," said Sway State studio head Chris O'Kelly. "You take joy in collecting and caring for them, and in return, they enhance your exploration of Viteria, improve your quality of life, and empower you...
Original The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion senior game designer Bruce Nesmith has said Bethesda and Virtuos' Oblivion Remastered is so impressive that he’s not sure calling it a remaster "actually does it justice." The mastermind behind much of what made the OG 2006 RPG so special shared his thoughts about the newly announced – and released – Oblivion remaster during a recent conversation with VideoGamer. He touched on the “blood, sweat, and tears” that went into bringing every inch of Cyrodiil to life, and that’s why it’s been such a shock to see Oblivion reimagined in nearly every way. “I was assuming this was going to be a texture update,” Nesmith said. “I didn’t really think it was going to be the complete overhaul that they’ve...
By Azura, by Azura, by Azura – the rumors were true. Yesterday, Bethesda set the internet on fire by finally pulling back the curtain on Virtuos’ remaster (or is it really a remake?) of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. An ‘Elder Scrolls Direct’ of sorts culminated in the surprise shadow-drop, which near-immediately transformed into hundreds of thousands of concurrent players. This moment of global hype and celebration feels like a much-needed port in the current storm Bethesda Game Studios has been facing in recent years. From conducting years-long damage control to rectify Fallout 76’s misfire launch, to the lackluster reception of its new sci-fi universe, Starfield, the studio’s most recent output has had many fans asking the same...
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has only been out for 24 hours, but already players are enjoying its nostalgia-fueled gameplay — bugs and all. Every veteran Bethesda fan knows the studio’s games come with a generous dollop of jank. Oblivion, which first launched in 2006, was one of the chief culprits, with objects flying all over the place, characters making poorly-timed (but often hilarious) on-screen interjections, and things happening in the background that, in the context of what was going on in the foreground, were perfect meme material. Nearly 20 years later, and Bethesda’s remaster (not a remake, it’s insisted), has all the “charm,” of the original, as Todd Howard put it. And that’s not an issue. In fact, it’s quite...
