Subnautica 2 is officially delayed to 2026, publisher Krafton has confirmed to IGN. The news follows a report that claimed the delay may cost the development team a $250 million bonus.

One of the co-founders of Subnautica 2 studio, Unknown Worlds, has released a statement about last week's "shock" decision to replace the leadership team, saying the decision to oust them "stings."
In a heartfelt post, Charlie Cleveland revealed on Reddit that while he and his colleagues believed Subnautica 2 was "ready for early release," "that decision is in Krafton's hands." A recent statement from the publisher, however, intimated a release was not imminent as an update about the release schedule, including an "Early Access timeline," would be "coming soon."
