After selecting your character and taking your first steps into Elden Ring’s open world, the game will alert you to the ability to play in multiplayer. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition only launched yesterday, but it's already seen a number of fan complaints, ranging from the quality of the remasters to not being able to play the PC version at all. While many have praised some of the visual upgrades (particularly to landscapes) on new-gen consoles, and appreciated the introduction of modern control schemes, there have been a number of issues raised with the quality of the new versions of the classic games. Here are the key factors right now: Quality Concerns To sum up much of the public response to the Definitive Editions, at time of writing, the top post on the 3 million user-strong r/Games subreddit is titled "Rockstar should be ashamed of the GTA Trilogy...

It's the 15th anniversary of the launch of both the PS3 and Wii, so let's delve into that back catalogue to talk about some of the games that just don't get talked about enough. Cardy, Joe and Matt are here to do that, as well as unpack Unpacking, delve into Forza Horizon 5 a little more, and chat about a few things they've been watching including Arcane, The French Dispatch, and Dexter: New Blood. There's so much to cover that sadly there's just no time for an Endless Search this week. Many apologies. Want to submit your own Endless Search, food opinion, or a bit of other nonsense? Feel free to get in touch with the podcast at: ign_ukfeedback@ign.com. IGN UK Podcast #618: The PS3 vs Wii Hidden Gem Face-Off IGN UK Podcast #617...
Rockstar has pulled Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition from sale on PC, seemingly due to ongoing issues with its Rockstar Games Launcher service that render it unplayable. At time of writing, the PC version of the remastered GTA Trilogy is not available to buy on Rockstar's website. Those who did buy the game on PC are unable to play it, as the Rockstar Games Launcher – which is required to play the collection – has been offline for around 15 hours. Just a few hours after the release of the collection, Rockstar's support Twitter account explained, "Services for the Rockstar Games Launcher and supported titles are temporarily offline for maintenance. Services will return as soon as maintenance is completed." This...
128 players simultaneously running into Battlefield 2042’s crowded warzones is a great example of why bigger can be better, but isn’t always. While chaotic gunfights are undoubtedly part of Battlefield’s charm, massive lobbies with that many players eventually became frustrating instead of fun – even in the limited time I was able to play during a three-day "virtual review event" held by EA earlier this week. Thankfully, its tense new Hazard Zone mode provides an interesting strategic alternative on a smaller scale, and its customizable Portal mode tools are an exciting glimpse at how its future could thrive. But 2042’s flashy, large-scale battles have left me wanting so far – but I have a ways to go before I'm ready to score it. To...

Oh, how things have changed. Fifteen years after gamers raised heck about horse armor in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Bethesda is discounting the infamous DLC in Skyrim Anniversary Edition, as first reported by PC Gamer. The horse armor DLC can be found in Skyrim's Creation Club menu. You should see both versions (steel and elven) pop up in the Featured tab for download. From there, restart your game and head to any stable in the region. Find the NPC who sells you horses and there will be new dialogue to acquire armor for your valiant steed. Choose which version you want, pay the kind stableman 500 Septim, and you've officially pimped out your ride. It's funny to think that when Bethesda introduced Oblivion players to horse armor...
Grand Theft Auto games are finally on Switch, but the result is less than grand. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, a remastered collection of Rockstar's three genre-defining crime classics has been released with a fresh lick of Unreal engine paint and overhauled controls, but also bringing along with it some notable content cuts at least in terms of its downsized soundtrack listings and slightly smaller selection of cheats. How impactful are any of these changes to the three experiences? Well, we don't really know yet, since we only got our hands on the collection of games when you did – after it went live on the PSN store earlier today. Thus our review of GTA Trilogy is still a way off; we'll need to play though all three of the games so at this point we're unlikely to have finalised...
Activision Blizzard is currently facing serious ongoing allegations of harassment and mistreatment of marginalized workers. To learn more, please visit our timeline as well as our in-depth report on the subject. Activision has issued an apology after 'insensitive' uses of the Muslim holy text, the Quran, were included on the floor of a Call of Duty Vanguard Zombies map. The images have now been removed from the game. Following the launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard, a number of players noticed that the game contained various pages from the Quran scattered across the floor of a Zombies map. The pages of the holy text were positioned in a way that allowed players to step on them while engaging in gunfights. Putting a copy of the Quran on...
IGN can exclusively reveal the introductory trailer for Spider-Man in Marvel's Avengers, which shows off Crystal Dynamics' take on Peter Parker for the first time. The trailer is a cinematic rather than straight gameplay, but gives us an idea of Spider-Man's acrobatic moveset, web shooting abilities, and all but confirms web-swinging and wall-crawling across the game's environments: The cinematic sees Peter ambushing and taking on a group of A.I.M. soldiers that have taken hostages, before being joined by the entire Avengers line-up. Square Enix hasn't yet confirmed who is providing the voice of Peter Parker in this incarnation of the character. Arriving as part of the With Great Power expansion for PlayStation owners of the game –...
The biggest surprise I had coming out of my few hours of Halo Infinite campaign hands-on wasn't the delightful exploration, nor the incredibly fun gunplay paired with Infinite's new equipment. Instead, it came down to the characters. Halo Infinite sees the legendary Master Chief once again tasked with saving the universe from yet another threat, and after five major campaigns, the Chief seems tired. Sad, even. He’s a man of few words, but his movements in cutscenes and response to those who need him are heavier than I’ve seen before. This is Chief without Cortana. His subtle yet distinct change is far from a bad thing, though. If anything, Master Chief's forlorn demeanor that he sets aside to get the job done is a great indication to me...
Details have seemingly been leaked about two new Xbox exclusives from Compulsion Games (We Happy Few) and Obsidian Entertainment (The Outer Worlds), the former of which is described as a single-player "southern gothic adventure." According to Windows Central, Compulsion's first game with Microsoft is codenamed Midnight. It is reportedly a third-person game set in a dark and fantastical world. The protagonist, seen below in the middle section of the concept art, is a dark-skinned woman with braided hair. The picture on the right shows a harpy creature going through various stages of transformation. The picture on the left looks like it could be a harpy nest. Midnight apparently draws its inspirations from America's deep south and is a...
After several delays, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction will arrive on January 20, 2022, and the price of the standard edition has been lowered to $39.99 USD. Ubisoft announced that the PvE shooter spin-off from Rainbow Six Siege will arrive with full cross-play, cross-save, and cross-progression. It will also introduce a cross-play Buddy Pass – every copy of the game comes with two passes to invite other players to play free for 14 days. Any progression made during that time will be transferred to full game if triallists decide to buy the full game. Alongside the price reduction for the standard edition, the Deluxe edition will now come in at $49.99, and adds three bonus packs. All pre-orders will come with the Orbital Decay...
As Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy launches, Rockstar has confirmed that it has removed some cheats from the game due to technical reasons, although it's not yet clear which ones. During the lead-up to the launch of GTA: The Trilogy, social media has been abuzz with fans discussing and sharing their favourite cheat codes from across the original games. However, for its remasters, Rockstar told USA Today that some of those cheats haven't been brought over to the latest release due to technical reasons. “We actually had to remove a couple for technical reasons, certain things that didn’t play well in the Unreal base,” producer Rich Rosado explained. “But that’s actually where I’ll leave it. There’s some fun with discovery. I’m not...
Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is now a decade old and still going strong. Now fans have a new way to showcase their love for this fantasy RPG thanks to a stunning set of bookends from Dark Horse Direct. IGN can exclusively offer a first look at Dark Horse's Dragon Skull Bookend, featuring a painstaking sculpted recreation of one of the beasts from the game. Check it out below: This impressive piece was sculpted by Joe Menna and brought to life by the designers at J.W. Productions. The bookend measures 9 inches tall by 7 inches wide and 5.4 inches deep. While designed to prop up books, this piece also functions perfectly well as a freestanding statue in your collection. The Dragon Skull Bookend is priced at $99.99 and will...
Ubisoft has announced that Vaas: Insanity, the first of Far Cry 6's roguelike premium expansions will arrive on Tuesday, November 16. According to a press release the DLC – which sees actor Michael Mando return to play the iconic villain role – will be available for players to download on November 16 and can be purchased as part of the game's Season Pass. Unlike Far Cry 6's main story, Vaas: Insanity will lean into the roguelike genre through its "die and retry" gameplay when it releases later this month. "Starting with nothing more than a pistol to defend themselves," the studio explains, "players will need to find new weapons and unlock power-ups to become stronger and progress deeper into the depths of Vaas’ psyche." Ubisoft...
FromSoftware will let players try out Elden Ring for the first time in a series of closed network tests starting on November 12. Codes for the tests are making their way to people now, but some are already scalping their access codes on eBay for hundreds of dollars. As always, scalpers will try and find the maximum price for an item, but according to eBay's "Sold" and "Completed Sales" pages, there are some who ended up buying an Elden Ring Closed Network Test code for hundreds of dollars. One code for the PS5 is listed as having sold on November 10 for $399.99 while most other sold listings range from as high as $200 to a low of $33. The Elden Ring Closed Network test will drop players into The Lands Between and give them free...
I don't know about you folks, but I'm amped for GTA day. That's right, tomorrow we can all hop a time machine (of sorts) to re-experience three of gaming's most iconic sandbox titles, gussied up to their most polished sheen yet. Jury is still out on just how "definitive" they are. In terms of nostalgia, however, this looks like a feast for mine eyes and ears. Months after releasing a story trailer Bethesda is back with a few more details about what to expect from Starfield, its new sci-fi outer space role-playing game. Chief among them, Starfield will feature full mod support according to director Todd Howard in a new Reddit AMA session with fans. "Our plan [is to] have full mod support like our previous games," Howard said. "Our modding community has been with us for 20 years. We love what they do and hope to see more make a career out of it." Modders are certainly looking forward to seeing how extensive that support is and what the community can ultimately do with it. Especially considering Starfield is being developed with a significantly updated version of the studio's Creation...
In Bethesda's upcoming RPG, Starfield, players will be able to customize their characters to the fullest, including being able to select pronouns. "Really excited about what the team has done with character creation here," said Bethesda creative director Todd Howard. "Including choosing background, skills, etc. You also can pick your pronoun (he, she, they) and we've recorded all the relevant dialogue to support that choice." In a Reddit AMA, Howard sat down to answer some questions about Starfield. This was his answer to a Redditor who asked if the game's character creation will be more complex like how it is in the Elder Scrolls games like Morrowind or Oblivian. It looks like Bethesda is being as inclusive as it can with Starfield...

On today's IGN The Fix: Games, Ljubomir Peklar, the creative director for Scorn, has publicly apologized following a "hostile" update sent out about the game's delay. In an update to Kickstarter backers, the creative director and EbbSoftware CEO apologized to fans and took full responsibility for the update being posted. "I quickly and haphazardly read through the draft of the update and in all my wisdom approved it," said Peklar. In a wide-ranging interview with IGN Unfiltered covering Skyrim's 10th anniversary, Starfield, and The Elder Scrolls 6, Howard talked about the lengthy list of projects that wound up pushing the project back upon the conclusion of Fallout 4 in 2015. Bethesda Game Studios ultimately decided to push forward with...

Valve has announced that the Steam Deck, its portable computer gaming handheld, will be delayed by two months. The first units will now begin shipping in February 2022, instead of its planned December 2021 release date. In a blog post Valve cited the global supply chain issues and material shortages as reasons for the delay. These issues have affected many consumer devices from other game consoles to cars and more. "We're sorry about this — we did our best to work around the global supply chain issues, but due to material shortages, components aren't reaching our manufacturing facilities in time for us to meet our initial launch dates," Valve says. "Based on our updated build estimates, Steam Deck will start shipping to customers...
