With so many games constantly fighting for our attention and playtime, Ubisoft is turning to an interesting marketing strategy to get gamers to boot up Far Cry 6. Players who haven't jumped into Yara for a while are getting emails from Ubisoft trying to get them back into the game. What's more, these emails are presented as if they're messages directly from Giancarlo Esposito's El Presidente character, aggressively taunting players to jump back in to take him down.
A tweet from journalist Brendan Sinclair detailed the types of emails Ubisoft is sending out. One email from Ubisoft had "You disappoint me" in the subject line and "It was amusing watching you fail" in the actual body of the email. The email is supposed to read as if El...
Activision Blizzard is currently facing serious ongoing allegations of harassment and mistreatment of marginalized workers. To learn more, please visit our timeline as well as our in-depth report on the subject.
Blizzard has announced that it will be canceling BlizzConline, initially planned for early next year, while making an effort to reimagine future BlizzCon events to be more "safe, welcoming, and inclusive."
In a blog post, the company said the decision was fueled by a need to redirect the energy Blizzard would normally spend putting on the event elsewhere, specifically toward "supporting our teams and progressing development of our games and experiences."
Blizzard still plans to make some announcements for its portfolio of...

PlayStation has announced that the upcoming State of Play will include an in-depth look at Little Devil Inside.
In a short teaser trailer on Twitter, PlayStation shared a glimpse of Little Devil Inside's world, showing a brief shot of a train station.
Little Devil Inside was originally announced at the June 2020 PlayStation 5 reveal event. The trailer showed off two different stories playing out at the same time: a knight exploring a hostile world, and an old man living in Europe.
The game fell into controversy shortly after its reveal when many people on social media called out some of the game's racist enemy designs. The developers responded, promising to change the designs, saying, "Racist stereotypes of any kind were...
Spoiler warning: this article features no story spoilers for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, but does discuss one location from the game and details twenty items that can be found there.
Despite its pop music soundtrack, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is not based on the James Gunn MCU movie of the same name. Its inspirations go back to the comics, and with that comes a whole bunch of Marvel Easter eggs. A huge amount of these can be conveniently found in one location: The Collector’s Emporium. And while all of them are labelled up to make sure you’re not left in that dark, none of them reveal their comic book origins. And that’s where we come in: our video below looks at every item in the Collector’s Emporium, and the Marvel...

Mike and Josh Grier from Ember Lab have revealed that Sony is happy with the sales numbers of Kena: Bridge of Spirits and that the game has already recouped its initial development costs.
In an interview with Bloomberg, the Grier brothers didn't provide a sales number, but they noted that they were pleasantly surprised at the sales so far. "It’s hard to tell what's a huge success. Sony's happy," said Josh Grier. Mike Grier also mentioned that Sony put plenty of effort into marketing Kena: Bridge of Spirits because of the large amount of attention it was getting. It was revealed alongside the PlayStation 5 back in June 2020.
At game conferences, Ember Lab pitched earlier versions of the game. While there were lots of big publishers...
New leaks from Oculus appear to show a first look at the rumored Oculus Pro VR headset, The Verge reports.
Videos and images from the servers of Facebook, which owns Oculus, first leaked to Reddit before being downloaded by The Verge. The videos show CG characters interacting with a new, darker VR headset and participating in activities like meetings, character customization, and games like Beat Saber.
Though the videos are CG, they show off what appears to be full body motion tracking, new Oculus Touch-style controllers (without the ring that goes around your hands), a charging dock, and the Horizon Workrooms app, where users will host meetings and use presentation tools like a 3D image of a building blueprint.

343 Industries has revealed the date when the online multiplayer servers for several Halo games on Xbox 360 will close down: January 13, 2022. Back on December 18, 2020, the studio announced these servers would shut down no earlier than one year after it had posted the notice, but now a definitive date has been decided.
"To date, we’ve juggled future-facing work and priorities with continued upkeep of Halo’s Xbox 360 legacy services. Maintaining these legacy services today requires significant time and resources which directly impacts the studio’s ability to support current and future projects like Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo Infinite," wrote 343 Industries in a statement.
As the player base of these games on Xbox...
Esports and gaming organization FaZe Clan has announced its plans to go public through a merger that will value the company as a whole at around $1 billion.
The merger is with a blank check company called B. Riley Principal 150 Merger Corp — essentially a company that is founded and raises money specifically for the purpose of merging with or being acquired by another company. As a part of the merger, BDPM will pay an estimated $291 million to FaZe, which will be used to fund its ongoing global growth efforts —including potential future acquisitions. BDPM will change its name to FaZe Holdings Inc, and the combined company will trade under the ticker symbol FAZE.
The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022 and...

After years of waiting, Payday fans finally have some new info on Payday 3. Publisher Starbreeze Studios and developer Overkill Software revealed some new details during the Payday 10th Anniversary livestream event.
Payday 3 will take place in a "living, enormous representation" of New York City, director Erik Wonnevi said. Payday 2 was primarily set in the boroughs of Washington, DC, while the original Payday was set in a fictional "Newport City" as well as Miami
Payday 3 will also take place several years after the events of Payday 2, bringing back characters like Dallas, Hoxton, Chains, and Wolf as they leave retirement and return to their criminal ways.
Technology has come a long way since Payday 2 released in 2013, and...
Rockstar has revealed the PC system requirements for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition and, surprise surprise, they're not that demanding. This is a remaster of games from the PS2 era, after all.
Despite their spruce up, with lovely new textures and lighting effects, the new versions of GTA will only require 2-3GB of graphics memory at minimum, with 4GB recommended. It's also looking for a relatively modest CPU, although still asks for the usual 8-16GB of RAM. We also have a file size: 45GB for the whole trilogy. It's currently unclear if the install can be split across the three games.
The full PC system requirements are:
Minimum system requirements
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core i5-6600K / AMD...
Sony has confirmed that the upcoming God of War PC port will be handled by Canadian studio Jetpack Interactive. The company previously provided engineer support for Dark Souls' PC version.
In a statement provided to ArsTechnica, Sony said that original God of War developer Sony Santa Monica is overseeing the PC version's development, which is being handled by Jetpack Interactive. The studio, based in Vancouver, is a port-focused developer who has previously worked with EA on Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, and NBA Live 15 and 14. It also completed the PS4 port duties on Orcs Must Die! Unchained for Robot Entertainment.
The choice of Jetpack Interactive may come as a surprise, since Sony acquired PC port specialist Nixxes...
A new video detailing the Halo Infinite campaign has revealed brand new footage of the Master Chief's next mission, as well as an introduction to his new AI and some of the activities that can be completed.
Halo Infinite's campaign - which 343 Industries claims is the biggest Halo campaign to date - is set on the Zeta Halo, an open world Halo ring where the Banished, a splinter faction from the Covenant, led by the Brutes, have settled. They've been building outposts, which can be found on your travels and taken out, akin to similar outposts in open world games like Far Cry. In the video, we can see Chief finding an outpost - named Ransom Keep - and scanning it for weak points. He then uses a rocket launcher to detonate a large silo...
If you, like me, played the Square Enix-published Marvel’s Avengers and said to yourself “I wish this had just focused on the single-player campaign instead of all this game-as-a-service stuff,” then do I have good news for you: Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, also published by Square Enix, has flown in to save the day. With no microtransactions, no multiplayer, and a relatively meaty story, it’s further proof that linear, single-player campaigns haven’t gone anywhere. Its simple but entertaining combat and fairly straightforward level design won’t revolutionize the genre or anything, but those solid fundamentals and the metric ton of personality slathered on top of them are more than enough to make Guardians of the Galaxy some good...
A video that plays at the end of the recently launched The Dark Pictures: House of Ashes has revealed The Devil in Me, the "season one finale" of Supermassive Games ' The Dark Pictures Anthology. This reveals not only what the next game in the anthology will be, but that the series will be split into seasons.
The trailer, which can be seen in the Tweet from TheHunters above, reveals a grotesque tease of The Devil in Me, which appears to involve a killer creating a mechanised automaton from human body parts. This suggests that the next game in The Dark Pictures Anthology may be less supernatural than its three predecessors, which have all feature ghost/monster-type foes and themes. What we may be facing in this next game is something...
Age of Empires 4 is a base-building, sword-clashing, village-pillaging RTS of the classic style, inside and out. Jumping into a match as the tenacious English squaring off against the chivalrous French feels like being transported back – not only to its setting of the High and Late Middle Ages, but to a different era of strategy games entirely. And there are some things about that which feel really nice, like comfort food for gamers of a certain age. But it's the few spots where Relic has taken risks here and there that this battlefield shows us its best and feels modern. Outside of that, it often just seems too careful and safe in a world where Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition already exists.
If you've been sending villagers out...
