Gotham Knights will no longer be released for PS4 and Xbox One.
When the game was first revealed in 2020, it was set to include PS4 and Xbox One versions, but those have seemingly been cancelled ahead of release.
In an announcement about a new gameplay trailer today, publisher Warner Bros. Interactive included a very short note about the last-gen versions of the game no longer being released. No specific reasoning was given, other than to say that it would "provide players with the best possible gameplay experience."
After a delay, the game will arrive on October 25 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) only.
Gotham Knights comes from Batman: Arkham Origins developer WB Montreal, and allow players to...
Paramount+ has released the first trailer for Players, an upcoming League of Legends esports mockumentary from American Vandal creators Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault.
The trailer invites viewers into the world of competitive gaming by tagging along with a fictional League of Legends esports team as they set out to "pursue their first championship after years of close calls and heartache," though "to win it all, they will need their prodigy, a 17-year-old rookie, and their 27-year-old veteran to put their egos aside and work together."
Players will premiere on June 16, exclusively on Paramount Plus. The series is being produced by CBS Studios in association with Funny or Die and has reunited Yacenda and Perrault after their work on...
If you're keen for a hair-raising experience, best make room in your item box for some cheap Resident Evils. Anybody who craves tense action should set their course for Resi Village. If you prefer the ol' creeping dread instead, Resi 7 will be more your bag. I'd also like to recommend the VR mod for the latter. It's proper brown undergarments stuff.

Activision Blizzard is actively discouraging Raven Software QA employees from voting in favor of unionization, ahead of an ongoing election with a deadline of May 20.
According to a Washington Post report, Raven management has been sending employees messages and holding town hall meetings about the election, including an April 26 town hall where employees were told that unionization might harm game development and impact promotions or benefits.
Following that event, an email was reportedly send around to employees with a graphic attached that read, "Please vote no."
The National Labor Relations Board approved the unionization vote in late April, following an extended back and forth between quality assurance workers and management...
The Super Nintendo port of Wolfenstein 3D is notorious among retro fans for being the worst version of the pioneering shooter. On top of the console's technical limitations and lousy controls, it was heavily censored, leading to some bizarre artistic choices.
A new clip from FPS: First Person Shooter, an upcoming documentary about the rise of the genre with words from more than 45 well-known developers, showcases the origins of Wolfenstein 3D. Toward the end of the clip, it delves into the Super Nintendo port and what a nightmare it was deal with Nintendo censors."
"We knew we would have to get rid of some of the Nazi paraphernalia due to the fact that they wanted to sell the game in Germany," programmer Becky Heineman remembers...

It’s no secret that Formula 1 is surging in popularity right now – largely because they’ll tell you, any chance they get. In fairness, that’s what quality promoters do – and it’s precisely this sort of promotion that’s seen F1 gather such an impressive amount of momentum over the past few years.
On the back of explosive online growth, the success of Netflix’s surprise hit Drive to Survive, and some long-awaited rising interest in the US, F1 is in a very healthy spot. The fastest growing sports league on the planet in terms of online follower growth in 2021? F1. The highest-attended live sporting event in the world last year? The US F1 Grand Prix. In fact, the Abu Dhabi season finale had a higher TV audience than Superbowl LVI – almost...
Resident Evil Re:Verse may still be on track for release in 2022, despite developer Capcom going completely silent on it following a series of delays.
As shared by Gematsu on Twitter (below), the Google Stadia version of Re:Verse – the PvP game originally scheduled to arrive alongside Resident Evil: Village – has been rated by European ratings board PEGI.
Though Capcom hasn't confirmed any release window except just "this year", a game being rated usually signifies that a relatively complete version has been presented and it therefore isn't too far from being released.
The PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions were rated exactly one year earlier (on May 7) but this was also the release date of Resident Evil: Village, and...
If you have an AMD graphics card made in the last couple of years, even a modest one, and you don’t have a FreeSync gaming monitor, it’s time to upgrade that display. That goes double if you've nabbed one of the newest Big Navi graphics cards, like the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT, which can pump out 4K visuals and spit out high frame rates at 1080p and 1440p. Once you experience the smoothness and responsiveness of a variable refresh rate monitor paired with a powerful graphics card, there’s just no going back.
Gamers with a beefy AMD graphics card in their gaming PCs owe it to themselves to upgrade to a FreeSync gaming display—the difference is truly striking. And, it's one of the best ways to avoid screen tearing, a problem that can...
EVE Online developer CCP Games is working on another first person shooter set in its sci-fi universe, after its first two attempts failed to break through.
As reported by PCGamesN, CCP Games announced at EVE Fanfest 2022 that the shooter was already in development and, while it's not ready for a full reveal yet, a piece of concept art (below) was shown.
"We recognise that a hard sci-fi FPS game set in the Eve Universe is a very popular concept, and CCP is committed to offering an innovative multiplayer shooter with atmospheric visuals," the developer said in a statement. "We want to show you rather than tell you how we have evolved the concept, and we’re looking forward to doing so when the time comes to reveal the game."

Electronic Arts has announced it's making a mobile Lord of the Rings game, which will be a free-to-play collectible RPG entitled The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth.
The publisher has been coy about details thus far, and hasn't released any images or gameplay beyond this one piece of art:
The game is being made in partnership with Middle-earth Enterprises as the image suggests, and will be "solely inspired by Middle-earth as described in the literary works of J.R.R. Tolkien" according to chief brand and licensing officer for Middle-earth Enterprises, Fredrica Drotos.
Heroes of Middle-earth will apparently feature "immersive storytelling, turn-based combat, deep collection systems, and a wide roster of characters" from...
A scrapped 2001 version of Duke Nukem Forever has seemingly leaked online, apparently showing the game four years into its turbulent development.
Duke Nukem fan website Duke4 shared details from a 4Chan post that seemingly shows gameplay footage and several screenshots of what is essentially a completely different game to the eventual 2011 release.
The 2001 version – of which "a huge chunk" is apparently playable – looks more similar to the previous game, 1996's Duke Nukem 3D, than the Forever we eventually got in 2011.
The leaker has allegedly built an editor to get this version of Duke Nukem Forever working and plans to release the full version in June.
Almost every level is present in some form according to the post, though...

In its first closed alpha test, Marauders takes the “extract and survive” concept from games like The Cycle and tweaks it into a formula that has the potential to replace your favorite survival shooter. Its moment-to-moment gunplay is straightforward and satisfying, serving as the base for which all of its other more eccentric systems flourish. Some things, like its ship-to-ship combat, could use some calibration, but as a whole, the life of space piracy is promising one.
Your goal in any given round of Marauders is to pull off a successful pirate raid in one of a handful of areas. I came across two in my time with the alpha so far” the abandoned space station and the derelict iridium mine. I appreciated how different each location...
It’s been over two years since miHoYo announced the Nintendo Switch port of Genshin Impact. News about the port has been sparse since then, but the company confirmed that the project is still in development on Thursday.
During the lengthy wait for the Switch port, some players began doubting the project’s eventual completion, theorizing that miHoYo had abandoned the project due to the Switch’s technical limitations. miHoYo, however, took to a statement to reassure players that the project is still in progress.
“The Switch version is still in development, and we will release more information as we progress further along,” a representative told GoNintendo.
No further details were provided by miHoYo regarding the upcoming port.

The Season 2 update to Halo Infinite hasn’t quite lived up to players’ expectations, but members of the Halo team are reassuring players that fixes are on their way. Halo developer 343i Senior Community Manager John Junyszek and Head of Creative Joseph Staten took to Twitter to address players’ concerns on Friday.
“Hey Spartans, this week has been bumpy,” Staten said via a Tweet. “That definitely wasn't our goal. We are indeed taking your feedback to heart, especially regarding map jumps and speedrunning. We're reviewing options and will have more news to come.”
A thread by Junyszek dives further into some of these issues. According to Junyszek, the Last Spartan Standing challenges in the Interference Event were fixed and should now...
IO Interactive announced that Hitman 3's Freelancer mode has been delayed to the second half of 2022 and will no longer launch this spring. To help with the wait, IO is releasing the brand-new Ambrose Island map in July, which is earlier than it was originally planned.
The Freelancer mode introduces rogue-like elements into the game's various campaign missions and allows players to customize Agent 47's new Safehouse. IO explains that the team wanted more time to work on the mode, and shared that it has been conducting internal playtesting and received insight from members of the community who were trusted with playable builds.
"The feedback from the playtests was largely positive and the mode is in very good shape. As we’ve said...

Back in the early 2000s, surfing was one of several sports being well-served in the video game space. Treyarch’s Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer, published on Xbox, PS2, and GameCube under Activision’s long-defunct Activision O2 brand, is one high-profile example – but there were plenty of others. Krome produced Championship Surfer for PC, PlayStation, and Dreamcast in 2000, and also Sunny Garcia Surfing for PS2 in 2001. Angel Studios (which later became Rockstar San Diego) released Transworld Surf on Xbox, PS2, and GameCube between 2001 and 2003. The surf-obsessed may even remember Surfing H3O, although you might be better off forgetting that one.
And then, the tsunami of surfing games stopped. Waxheads were waiting for more, but the...
Thank your own personal deity—possibly Zeus—it's Friday! For reasons I can't fully explain, Sniper Elite games are on sale today. Turning fascist heads into canoes hasn't really aged since the series debuted in 2005. In fact, I'd argue the 2P co-op missions of Sniper Elite 4 have made the concept twice as awesome. Speaking of, you also shouldn't go past the buddy action of Sackboy A Big Adventure for the low, low price of $59.

The Federal Trade Commission is reportedly opening an inquiry into Sony's planned acquisition of Bungie, marking a notable ramp-up in federal oversight of gaming mergers during a period of major industry consolidation.
According to sources speaking with The Information, last week the FTC began seeking more information about the deal in an investigation that could potentially delay its closing by six months or even more. Though a closing date wasn't announced alongside the initial announcement, The Information reports it could be pushed into early 2023.
The FTC is reportedly focused on concerns that Sony might be motivated to prevent competing companies and services, such as Xbox, from accessing Bungie's games such as Destiny 2. That...
With over 120 internal studios, 230 games in development, and a massive stable of 850 IPs, Embracer Group has quietly become one of the biggest names in video games. The company, which calls itself “a parent company of businesses led by entrepreneurs in PC, console, mobile and board games, and other related media,” most recently purchased a handful of studios and IPs from Square Enix, including Crystal Dynamics/Tomb Raider, Eidos-Montreal/Deux Ex, and Hitman Go developer Square Enix Montreal.
As Embracer Group continues to expand, many gamers have wondered, What exactly is Embracer Group, and what’s it doing with all these game franchises?
To answer that question, we’ve distilled Embracer Group’s thirty-year history into a digestible...
Yesterday, a new trailer for the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi dropped. In anticipation of its upcoming release, Ewan McGregor is in full press mode supporting the six-part series and stopped by virtually on the Jimmy Kimmel show.
Over the course of the interview, McGregor dove right into a number of topics ranging from action figures of himself to fans who know more about the series than he does. But it is one specific side comment that made us pause.
In the interview, he praises director Deborah Chow who “really knows [her stuff]” regarding the various media the Star Wars universe inhabits. McGregor says that “all of the storylines have to … match up” and you “can't have some fact in a video game that doesn't match up to the movie.”...
Buying a house in Final Fantasy XIV sometimes feels as insurmountable a task as buying a house in real life.
Housing has been a hot commodity in FFXIV for years, as owning a house gives players a space to decorate and make their own. But with demand far outpacing supply, housing is one of the luxury items in Final Fantasy XIV.
But if you're lucky to get a house, you'll be glad to check out HGXIV, a fan podcast, and community that shines a spotlight on designers and provides essential resources like design guides, housing directories, designer portfolios, and more.
There are two big hurdles to purchasing a house in FFXIV. The first is the high cost, as the most basic plot of land starts at 3 million gil (the in-game currency), and...
Epic Games and Microsoft are partnering to bring Fortnite to Xbox Cloud Gaming. The megahit battle royale is now available to play on PC and even iOS and iPad devices through streaming.
Anyone interested in playing Epic's battle royale just needs a Microsoft account and an iOS device or Windows PC with internet to begin playing immediately through a browser. There's no need to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass as Fortnite will remain free-to-play through Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Xbox Cloud Gaming lets users play games instantly without needing to install a game onto their device locally. The service is normally part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, but Fortnite does not require a membership to play. Instead, players can log in with their Microsoft...
There's a chance you haven't heard of Dread Hunger yet, even though it's one of the biggest games in the world right now.
A cocktail of Among Us-like social deduction amid the ticking-clock fear of a survival game, the game has quietly amassed a huge playerbase, to the point where it's been in and around Steam's top 10 most played games for well over a month. That success has been so huge, and so sudden, that developer Dread Hunger Team has had reprioritise development to meet the demand.
While it was available for months in Early Access, where Dread Hunger averaged a few hundred players at one time, the game shot to success around its official release in January, climbing to more than 100,000 players, one million copies sold, and...
