It’s official – MultiVersus Season 1 will launch on August 15, 2022.
A statement via Twitter confirmed the new release date for the Warner Bros. online platform fighter, along with details of a new Battle Pass.
“We’re excited to announce Season 1 will begin on August 15 with a brand-new Battle Pass for you to earn in-game rewards!” the statement reveals. “We can also confirm Morty will join the character roster on August 23 as part of Season 1. We look forward to sharing more in the coming weeks!”
Obviously, the other big news here is that Morty (of Rick & Morty fame) will finally make his way into the game as a playable character on August 23. That’s great news for fans of the show.

Thunderful CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson has stepped down following the company’s $2.1 million loss.
According to GamesIndustry.biz the CEO, who held the position since the group first formed in 2019, is stepping down in order to take on a new role in the company’s games division.
Meanwhile, former CFO Anders Maiqvist has taken over until a new full-time CEO is found.
The original Thunderful was founded in 2017 by Sigurgeirsson, Bergsala Holding, and Klaus Lyngeled before merging with Bergsala in 2019 to form Thunderful Group.

Dotemu and Leikir Studio have announced that Metal Slug Tactics has been delayed to 2023.
“Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma are tinkering away to make Metal Slug Tactics as explosive as possible on release, but the squad needs a bit more time in the shop to prepare for the battles ahead,” publisher Dotemu said in a statement on Twitter. “See you in 2023!”
Metal Slug Tactics was first revealed during last year’s Summer Game Fest and was slated for a release this year. Unfortunately, players will now have to wait a little longer.

Dragon Ball is the latest anime franchise arriving in Fortnite and it's less than a week away, with Epic Games confirming an August 16 release date.
In a relatively vague tweet for those unfamiliar with Dragon Ball, the Fortnite Twitter account posted (below) an image of a golden dragon with the tagline: "Speak. Name your wish."

NBA 2K23 is seeking to perfectly simulate the look, feel, and action of 1980s and 1990s basketball by recreating superstar Michael Jordan’s most iconic moments in the Jordan Challenges.
These include Jordan’s game-winner in the 1982 NCAA National Championship, “the shot” over the Utah Jazz that won him his sixth and final NBA title in 1998, plus other signature match-ups from his career against the likes of Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and the Bad Boy Pistons.

Doom and Quake developer id Software is bundling multiple versions of its games together on Steam to make finding and buying them a little less confusing.
The developer explained in a blog post that it will no longer list several copies of the same game on Steam but instead include each version under the one main title.
Doom II, for example, was previously available in four different forms: Doom II, Doom II (Enhanced), Master Levels for Doom II, and Final Doom. Following the change made on August 10, however, all of these games will be included simply under the Steam listing for Doom II.

Elite: Dangerous director and founder of Frontier Developments David Braben has stepped down as the company's CEO after holding the role for 28 years.
As reported by GI.biz, Braben will remain as the studio president and founder but will be replaced in the CEO position by chief creative officer Jonny Watts. He will still be a highly influential figure at the developer, however, as Frontier said Braben is still an "executive director" and will "retain his leadership and vision for Frontier's strategic direction".

The internet can't get enough of the latest promo video for Forspoken, the upcoming action RPG from Square Enix and Luminous Productions. However, it's not the most positive reception, as people are poking fun at the new trailer by making parodies of it.
It all started when the official Forspoken Twitter account posted a new ad for the game. The promo shows snippets of gameplay, featuring a voiceover from the protagonist, Frey. When I started Cult of the Lamb, I wasn’t expecting to be shoveling so much poop. Half-Life 2: VR, a headset version of the narrative FPS classic will begin its open beta on PC next month – but no specific date has been announced just yet.

Blizzard has announced when loot boxes will be phased out of Overwatch in anticipation of the new Battle Pass system.
The announcement was quietly mentioned in a blog post about the Overwatch Anniversary Remix Volume 3 event. The company confirmed that the loot boxes would "no longer be available for sale" come August 30th.
However, the post notes that you'll still be able to earn standard loot boxes after the Remix event.
This Anniversary Remix event is Blizzard's way of "cleaning house" of sorts, allowing players to earn (or buy) cosmetics before Overwatch 2 launches on October 4, 2022. This includes skins and cosmetics from previous Overwatch Challenge events.
