Capcom has responded to ongoing fan speculation about Resident Evil Requiem being an open world game with a definitive-sounding response. Fan discussion and leaks around the game have long pointed to Requiem featuring more open exploration than in previous Resident Evil titles. This suggestion was fuelled further earlier this month by the release of a fresh gameplay snippet that included a look at a bustling city street, complete with pedestrians and traffic. Now, however, Resident Evil Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi has stepped in to set the record straight, having seen the discussion online. In short, anyone hoping for an open world Resident Evil should reset their expectations. "[The development team] did just want to make...
Developer Embark Studios is launching into new Arc Raiders content when the Headwinds update brings a solo vs. squads matchmaking option, a Bird City map condition, and more to the experience tomorrow. Following a few social media teases and a month of waiting, Embark confirmed plans to deliver the first real content drop of 2026 with a tense teaser trailer and release date of January 27 just moments ago. The announcement has the Headwinds update set to bring a set of smaller additions to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S tomorrow, as fans wait to really get the ball rolling in February. Although the next new map, new Arc threats, and major map conditions won’t arrive for a few more weeks, the January update sets Arc Raiders...
With the triumphant return of Leon Kennedy, Resident Evil Requiem is forced to straddle an awkward line between all-out action and methodical survival horror. I’ll be honest, before getting my hands on the game and seeing the transition in action, I was extremely skeptical that Capcom would be able to create a coherent experience involving both Leon and Grace, the series’ latest, highly vulnerable protagonist. The switching between their polar opposite styles sounded jarring, which is almost never a good thing, and although it's been a while, it’s not like we haven’t been burned by Capcom’s desire to push the series towards action before. But I’m pleased to share that, from my all-too-brief three hours of hands-on time with Resident...
Anyone that has to do a lot of work – or even gaming – on a computer knows the virtue of having multiple displays. After all, it makes multitasking easier, without having to rely on alt-tab going to the right window. That’s kind of what the Asus Zenbook Duo is looking to capitalize on, and unlike some of the half-baked designs seen on this laptop line in the past, Asus has actually nailed the formula this time around. In a nutshell, the Asus Zenbook Duo is just like any other thin-and-light laptop. It’s powered by Intel’s new Panther Lake CPU – specifically the Core Ultra X9 388H – which is powerful, but not the kind of desktop-class performance you’d expect in a heavier workstation or gaming laptop. Still, because of the improvements...
Intel technically revealed Panther Lake back in October 2025, leading with the Xe 3 graphics architecture, which Intel claimed was a massively improved integrated graphics chip. Well, shortly after these new laptop processors were ‘launched’ at CES 2026, I’ve finally been able to sit down and test it for myself. And while the Asus Zenbook Duo I used to try out the Intel Core X9 Ultra 388H isn’t exactly what I’d call a ‘gaming laptop’, what with it not having a discrete graphics chip, it’s more than capable of playing AAA games at high settings. You just have to temper your expectations a bit. If you ask me, though, a thin and light laptop playing games at high settings isn’t the most exciting thing in the world. What’s going to be much...
Surprise! It looks like a 30th Anniversary Edition of Rayman is on the way. Though not formally confirmed by Ubisoft, the unannounced game has popped up on the Australian Classification website, and it's apparently coming to both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5. While the franchise is owned by Ubisoft, both the developer and publisher are listed as Atari, which has previously distributed physical editions of games and remakes. Sadly, the listing gives us very little detail on what to expect aside from confirmation that it has "very mild" violence (thanks, Gematsu). We already knew that Ubisoft was set to celebrate all things Rayman as it got ready to mark the series' 30th anniversary, promising last September that it was working...
Whether you log in to keep up with the NBA or you’re just a casual fan of video games, chances are, you’ve seen a lot of talk about content creators Kingsman265, Cece, zazzastack, and an infamous $40,000 Marvel Rivals tournament recently. What began as a livestreamed spat between esports teammates has since evolved into an inescapable beast of a trending topic that quickly broke containment in the Marvel Rivals community. But who are these people? Why are thousands rallying behind their favorite online personalities? And why are the Atlanta Hawks posting TikToks about a Marvel Rivals tournament? The saga many are calling the “Kingsman265 drama” began just earlier this month and is transforming every day, so we did our best to explain...
Debuting at The Game Awards 2025 with an end-of-show reveal trailer, Highguard is a new free-to-play PvP raid shooter hailing from some of the creators of Respawn's Apex Legends and Titanfall. Though we've heard very little since, Highguard reemerged last week with the promise of a launch showcase that confirmed the January 26, 2026 release date. The showcase will offer a "full gameplay deep dive, year one plans, and much more." In Highguard, players will "ride, fight, and raid as Wardens, arcane gunslingers sent to fight for control of a mythic continent," although it has suffered from a degree of negativity online since that The Game Awards reveal. Highguard is set to launch across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S...
A strategy game dubbed ‘FTL in a Warhammer 40,000 skin’ was recently pulled from Steam, with its developer suggesting it may have been on the receiving end of a nuisance DMCA takedown from a troll claiming to be Games Workshop. Last week, Tundra Interactive posted a message on the Void War Steam forum to say the game was “temporarily unavailable” after it had been pulled from Steam without explanation. The indie developer said it was working with Valve to “resolve” the issue, and pointed to Void War's continued availability on Itch.io. Void War is often compared to both indie darling FTL and Warhammer 40,000, Games Workshop’s tabletop wargame set in the grim darkness of the far future — and it’s easy to see why. The gameplay looks...
Re-Logic has dropped a new teaser trailer for Terraria 1.4.5 — now dubbed the Bigger and Boulder Update — which is set to launch tomorrow, January 27. The teaser for Bigger and Boulder — I see what you did there, Re-Logic — shows off "over 100 combinations and eight brand new boss tracks," as well as reveals character portraits (including the Goblin Tinkerer), new icons for auto-sorting things like coins, new furniture, and new Palworld and Dead Cells minions. There also seems to be a pre-hard mode Acorn Tosser, Slime Spear, Slime Whip, and Starcrash Whip, lightning strikes in thunderstorms, Boulder tiles, blocks, and chests, and more. Lots, lots more. And no, Re-Logic doesn't even say that this is the last update anywhere — despite...
A reliable leaker has revealed Sony's main PlayStation Plus Monthly offering for February, more than a week before it becomes available. Boxing game Undisputed will headline next month's lineup, according to Dealabs' billbil-kun, who says that the liscensed punchup title will be the month's main game available. So, while other titles are expected, Undisputed will be February's main addition. Undisputed is expected to become available on February 3, for PlayStation Plus subscribers across all tiers from Essential upwards. As ever, it should remain available for a month, until March 3. We'll follow up with February's other PlayStation Plus Monthly games whenever Sony announces them. January's PlayStation Plus Monthly games are of...

Let me start by saying that I’m borderline blown away by what I’ve seen from the Fable reboot so far. New Fable developer Playground Games already had my trust – this is a studio that has produced nothing but one open-world masterpiece after another – but after learning a lot more about what the team has in store for its resurrection of one of Xbox’s biggest franchises, I’m even more bullish about where they’re going with it. Playground has turned the ForzaTech engine into a medieval British postcard, combat is multilayered, a thousand NPC townsfolk are waiting to be romanced, co-parented with, divorced from, and landlord over, and there are chickens abound just waiting to be kicked. Alongside Fable’s big coming-out party at the recent...
A new lawsuit filed by shareholders of Hasbro against the company and its directors alleges that company leadership has mismanaged Magic: The Gathering by overprinting sets of cards, thereby devaluing existing ones. It also, quite notably, claims that Hasbro leadership "concealed the true reason" that its widely-criticized, incredibly expensive Magic: The Gathering 30th Anniversary Set was pulled from sale within an hour of its initial release. The lawsuit, filed in Rhode Island earlier this week, is filed by shareholders Joseph Crocono and Ultan McGlone against Hasbro CEO Christian Cocks, a number of fellow company directors, and Hasbro itself. The lawsuit alleges breaches of fiduciary duty, unjust enrichment, waste of corporate...
Stella Montis is known for its cold, suffocating halls and cutthroat Raider encounters, but Arc Raiders players can’t get enough of the real-life Stella Montis hotel. Yes, there is a real-world hotel located in Italy that just so happens to share a name with one of the most brutal locations game developer Embark Studios has to offer. Thankfully, the luxurious hotel Stella Montis won’t have guests looking over their shoulders for loot goblins, and instead features spots for hiking, biking, skiing, and relaxation. It’s for these reasons – and maybe more likely just for the bit of it all – that Arc Raiders players are slamming the forest getaway with dozens of five-star reviews. “Great place,” one seemingly earnest review starts. “But I...
Queen’s Blood fans, it's time to celebrate. The addictive Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth card game is making a “powered-up” comeback for the final chapter in Square Enix’s remake trilogy. Polygon spoke with director Naoki Hamaguchi about the progress of development on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 and touched on the topic of one of the more popular virtual pastimes of 2024. He says he plans to double down on the card game when its next installment finally launches, promising to “expand” what was seen with its Rebirth launch. “Queen’s Blood is a very popular and beloved minigame, and I believe a lot of people are still wanting something like that,” Hamaguchi said. “I want to expand on Queen’s Blood so that we are enhancing it, and giving you...
Highguard has reemerged after going dark following its much-discussed reveal at the end of The Game Awards last month, with a launch showcase that reaffirms it really is coming out next week. Due out January 26, Highguard ended The Game Awards 2025 with its reveal trailer, and it gave fans a look at the new free-to-play PvP raid shooter from some of the creators of Respawn's Apex Legends and Titanfall. Players will "ride, fight, and raid as Wardens, arcane gunslingers sent to fight for control of a mythic continent." Some had wondered what was happening with Highguard given developer Wildlight Entertainment failed to follow up its The Game Awards reveal with any new trailers or even more detailed information about how it works. It’s...
Forza Horizon 6 will launch with a $59.99 Premium Upgrade Bundle that unlocks four days of early access — albeit at almost the same cost as buying the game again. Last night, Xbox gave its upcoming Japan-set open world racer a stunning full gameplay reveal during its Xbox Developer Direct livestream, though didn't go into detail on the game's pricing. When it arrives on May 19 for PC and Xbox Series X/S, Forza Horizon 6's Standard Edition will cost $69.99, while its Premium Edition is priced at $119.99. Alternatively — and of note for those planning to play the game via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate — you can purchase that $59.99 Premium Upgrade Bundle, and play starting May 15. The game's Premium Edition / Premium Upgrade include other...
Developer Embark Studios has laid out its new Arc Raiders roadmap, revealing that a new map, Expedition Windows, Arc threats, a new Raider Deck, and more will launch between now and April 2026. The four-month plan, shared in a blog post and dubbed Escalation, comes with details about how the company plans to expand its explosive multiplayer extraction shooter with content all the way to spring. It all comes with what Embark teases will be a steady flow of new quests, trials, items, cosmetics, and quality-of-life features, priming Arc Raiders with a content-filled start to its first new year in players’ hands. In addition to icons, which may tease an update’s contents, each month is assigned a title. Despite having just one week left...
Palworld developer Pocketpair has an interesting way of screening job candidates. The Japanese game studio requires those applying for game designer positions to submit screenshots of their Steam libraries as part of the hiring process. In a recent tweet on X / Twitter, CEO Takuro Mizobe shed some light on how Pocketpair hires new game designer talent (as spotted by Automaton). Mizobe explained that Pocketpair has prospective game designers submit screenshots of their Steam play history. Furthermore, Mizobe noted that applicants who don’t use Valve’s game platform don’t get considered for interviews: “Those who haven't played anything on Steam don’t pass the document screening stage.” There is a reason why Pocketpair wants to see what...
The latest entry in the hugely popular Arknights universe is out now, expanding the IP beyond mobile and introducing cross platform progression. Arknights: Endfield – a free-to-play RPG that builds on the strategic depth of 2019’s Arknights – made an impact with its presence at Japan Expo, Anime Expo and gamescom last year, and had over 35 million sign-ups in its pre-registration phase. To celebrate the release on PlayStation 5, PC and mobile, publisher GRYPHLINE has announced an array of rewards players can claim, including sign-in bonuses and milestone rewards equivalent to at least 135 pulls across different banners. The game introduces a 3D world built around exploration, real-time combat and base-building objectives to the...
Fortnite fans have gained a first look at how The Office characters Michael Scott and Dwight Scrute will appear in the game, when they become available later tonight. The pair of new Fortnite skins include the likenesses of actors Steve Carell and Rainn Wilson, and come with a range of alternate styles and accessories. The Michael Scott skin includes the option to wear sunglasses, or unbutton his shirt and wear a backwards cap for his "Date Mike" look. Dwight Scrute, meanwhile, comes with the option to wear his suit jacket or not — and without, the skin can be seen with a holster strapped to his uncovered belt (complete with banana, as seen in the show). Another reference comes in the shape of Dwight's skin mask option for his face...
The creator of the Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod CD Projekt recently hit with a DMCA strike has paused his Patreon page and pulled access to all his mods after receiving another strike from a different publisher. Luke Ross, creator of the R.E.A.L. VR mods for games such as Elden Ring, Days Gone, and Far Cry, reportedly earns $20,000 a month through Patreon, which acts as a paywall for his work. He ditched work on his Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod following CD Projekt’s DMCA strike, and has now said he received another strike from publisher 505 Games for his VR conversion of 2020 first-person cyberpunk action game Ghostrunner. IGN has asked 505 Games for comment. Ross declined to comment further when contacted by IGN. Ross’ Patreon page now carries a...
Steve Downes, the actor behind Master chief’s iconic voice, has said deceptive AI reproductions of his voice “cross a line that gets into an area I am uncomfortable with” — and he wants it to stop. Speaking in an AMA on his YouTube channel, Downes acknowledged the inevitability of AI, and even described some fan-made projects as “really cool,” but hit out at unauthorized use of his voice. “One of the things that can be overwhelming when it comes to attention from fans is when AI gets involved,” he said. “A lot of it is harmless I suppose, but some of it cannot be harmless. I've been very vocal about my feelings about the use of artificial intelligence, which on the one hand is inevitable and has many positive effects on not only show...
BioWare is slowly beginning to build itself back up following the downsizing it experienced in the wake of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, with hiring now underway for a new senior role on Mass Effect 5. The veteran RPG studio saw numerous staff members depart following the launch of its most recent Dragon Age game, which failed to meet publisher EA's sales expectations. This process came after the decision was made not to develop any further content for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and while Mass Effect 5 officially remains in the pre-production phase. Now, as work on Mass Effect 5 quietly continues, BioWare is hiring a Production Director for the game who will report directly into the project's overall boss, BioWare and Mass Effect...
Remember those mockumentary-style interview sections in the original reveal trailer for Fable? Well, those will actually be in the game, and they’re inspired by an unlikely source — The Office. Fable is a distinctly British video game series, and one where comedy has always been allowed to thrive. Both deadpan and absurdist British humor were at the centre of Lionhead’s original trilogy, and it's great to see that ethos carrying forward into Playground Games’ 2026 reboot, which we recently got an extended look at during January’s Xbox Developer Direct. Speaking to Xbox Wire, Playground founder and general manager Ralph Fulton mentioned a handful of classic 21st-century British sitcoms as touchstones for Fable’s tone. “We were inspired...
If id Software’s DOOM is generally regarded as the ‘godfather’ of the first-person shooter genre, then Duke Nukem 3D must surely be its wayward, beer-drinking, loudmouth, blond-headed stepchild. With countless P.I.G. cops wasted, innumerable wisecracks delivered, and enough gooey gibs to fill a small continent since its original release in 1996, it is now, on its 30th anniversary, that we take a step back in time to examine how Duke Nukem 3D revolutionised the first-person shooter genre. Build It, And They Shall Come Get Some Although the Build engine made its debut just a few months earlier with the much-underrated and oft-forgotten first-person melee fantasy effort Witchaven, it was arguably with 3D Realms’ Duke Nukem 3D that this...
