The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is making a big splash with a slew of announcements, all revolving around its first gameplay trailer. Owlcat Games, the studio behind the well-received role-playing game Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, is making a big push into third-person sci-fi action with The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, which is set in the same universe as the much-loved books and show. It’s got strong Mass Effect vibes, which you can see from the trailer, below. At the Xbox Partner Preview showcase, Owlcat said The Expanse: Osiris Reborn will get a closed beta on April 22, and Microsoft confirmed it had picked up the game as a day one launch for Game Pass. The beta will run until the game’s launch in spring 2027. The closed beta will be...
Survival horror first-person shooter Stalker 2 is getting its first major story expansion this summer. As revealed at the Xbox Partner Preview showcase, Stalker 2: Cost of Hope is coming to PC, Xbox Series X and S, and PlayStation 5 and brings with it “dozens of hours of gameplay.” Here’s the official blurb: In Cost of Hope, you once again take on the role of Skif, the protagonist of the core game. After installing the DLC, a signal on the PDA will trigger the new storyline as the game unfolds. Developer GSC Game World said your choices shape what happens next. Cost of Hope introduces two new regions to explore: “Navigate the iconic Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, once abandoned and locked away for decades, now calling stalkers back...
Microsoft will soon give fans a peek behind the curtain to see what its third-party partners are up to with the March 2026 Xbox Partner Preview, and we’re here to share all of the highlights. Following its promise to host a livestream presentation earlier this week, the Xbox company is only moments away from talking about some of the games it has planned for 2026 and beyond. While there are sure to be a few surprises, the blog post announcing the show has already teased appearances from Ryu Ga Gotoku’s Stranger Than Heaven, GSC Game World's S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and Owlcat's The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. Expect announcements for titles coming to Xbox consoles and Game Pass when the presentation starts on YouTube and...
Saros, the upcoming PS5 exclusive from Housemarque, will launch with auto-saves enabled and multiple save slots available, something the studio’s previous game, Returnal, was criticised for not including at its release. The roguelike shooter starring Rahul Kohli as Arjun Devraj arrives on April 30, and, while it still poses a similar level of challenge in its action as its predecessor, it does come packed with some added kindness, with the developer taking feedback from Returnal on board when designing Saros. “I think the lesson we learned from Returnal was that people really loved what we created, and we were going on the right track,” says Saros’ creative director, Gregory Louden. “But I think the feedback we did get is that more...
This week, Epic Games announced one of the largest rounds of layoffs the video games industry has ever faced, with more than 1,000 staff told they were out of work in one devastating morning. Fans of Fortnite, which remains one of the biggest games in the world, were blindsided by the news. But no one was more shocked than the employees themselves — some of whom had dedicated a decade of their lives to Epic and Fortnite, and established the breakout battle royale as a global phenomenon. Days later, the scale of the layoffs is still sinking in. Alongside the many veteran developers now looking for work via social media, those who remain have said they simply don't know how Fortnite will look later this year and beyond with almost a...
Showcase events have been a part of the identity of Forza Horizon games ever since the 2012 original. We’ve pitted a Ford Mustang against its WWII warbird namesake, and we’ve gone up against a… legally distinct, delta-winged behemoth that looks suspiciously similar to an Avro Vulcan in an Aston Martin of the same name. We’ve raced against trains, monster trucks, and even hot air balloons. They’re brilliant advertisements for the Forza Horizon series brand of racing, they’re eye-catching, and they’re just about as fun to watch as they are to play. They are, however, events that an overwhelming cohort of Forza Horizon players only do once. “So we went back and looked at our telemetry from Forza Horizon 5, focusing in on Showcase...
At first glance, Slay the Spire 2 in Early Access feels like a slightly expanded version of the original. You start with Ironclad again, and most of the launch roster features familiar faces, with only two of the five characters being new. Those new additions bring dramatically different playstyles, which helps a lot, but the overall experience can still feel a little too familiar early on. It can even seem somewhat basic when you compare it to the many games that have built upon the formula since the first game was released. That feeling starts to shift as you spend more time with it. You gradually unlock features that add more depth and variety to each run. New paths open up, relics introduce fresh ideas, and builds become far more...
2026 is shaping up to be a great year for video game releases, and it's already delivered some amazing ones for us to get stuck into, from a return to Raccoon City to breeding cats for roguelike warfare. So far, IGN has scored a total of 14 games 8/10 or higher this year, with a range of genres covered, from co-op horror adventures to open-world soulslike punishment. And if 2025 is anything to go by, which ended up with 89 high-scoring games, there’ll be plenty more added to this page as we progress through 2026. These are IGN's best video games of 2026. This list will be updated as new releases receive qualifying review scores. Review Score: 8 (“Great”) These games leave us with something outstanding to remember them by, usually...
Here's a sentence I never thought I'd write: Metal Gear and Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima has gone viral again, not because of his latest in-game innovation or taste in movies, but because of his superhuman power of smell and distinctive cologne. In a personal essay written for magazine AnAnWeb at the end of last year, Kojima recounted the time he felt compelled to rip off his own shirt and throw it into a crowd of fans during the live recording of a finale of his radio show, KOJI10. The crew had decided not to give them away to listeners who came to the second season finale, but Kojima went rogue at the end of the show and threw his own shirt into the crowd. "I wasn't trying to be a rock star; my body just reacted...
Last week, Capcom added Alex to Street Fighter 6’s playable fighter roster. However, Alex’s arrival was overshadowed by his arcade mode ending (spoilers ahead!) in which he marries his adoptive younger sister/second cousin Patricia. Not only that, they are expecting a baby! These revelations prompted a flood of critical comments from grossed-out fans. Today, Street Fighter 6 director Takayuki Nakayama addressed the backlash, apologizing for what he called the "confusion." "While we have not changed the characters’ backstories, after internal review by the development team, we plan to revise certain text passages that may have been misleading in the near future," he said. However, this has only prompted more criticism from fans, as...
Love it or hate it, there’s no denying that Crimson Desert has suffered something of a rocky launch. Its vast open world, full of opportunity and flexible inventive systems, is impressive, but its awkward controls, punishing difficulty spikes, and baffling approach to inventory management burst the bubble of immense hype that had been built over years, resulting in “mixed” Steam reviews and an equally mixed critical reception. But there’s also no denying developer Pearl Abyss’ dedication to making things right. Its response to player feedback has been extraordinary, delivering some of the most extensive initial patch work that we’ve seen this generation within days of launch. It’s unclear if the development team has had to break their...

Combo Devils, a recently kickstarted platform fighter from developer Punkzilla, has one of the best elevator pitches of any fighting game I’ve played in a hot minute: What if we took the core of Smash Brothers, fused it with all of the mechanics and sensibilities of a traditional modern 2D fighter, and then topped it all off with a roguelite single player mode? As someone who grew up dumping hundreds of hours into the various iterations of Smash Brothers all throughout middle school, high school and college; spends most of his nights grinding ranked in a variety of 2D fighting games (mainly Street Fighter 6); and ranks several roguelikes among his favorite games of all time, Combo Devils, seems like a game laser-targeted specifically...
Forza Horizon 6 is still a couple months away, launching on May 19, but Playground Games has revealed the PC system requirements, and they're surprisingly modest. Just like Crimson Desert's PC version earlier this month, Playground Games has released a detailed chart, detailing out several levels of performance. And while, of course, there are some pretty beefy requirements on the high-end for the 4K ray tracing preset, the lower-end configurations are reasonable – only calling for an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti or a Radeon RX 6500 XT to run the game on low settings. Playground Games also says that the Steam Deck and the ROG Xbox Ally will be supported, but the chart doesn't say what graphics preset, resolution or frame rate these...
If you're after a bargain, you've come to the right place. I've done the hard work for you and found all the actual good deals in the Amazon Big Spring Sale. Not to be confused with the Big Deal Days, Black Friday, Prime Day, or any of the other random "-day but really a week" sale events that they love to throw a party for (I am also guilty of this, in all honesty). But I digress, so let's take a look at what's on sale right now, and whether it's genuinely a good deal, or just another dud. There are discounts for PS5, Switch 1+2, and Xbox, so fun for all the family. My Favorite Games on Sale Right Now See Spring sale on Amazon Canada here See Spring sale on Amazon UK here I'll start with some of my favorite deals in the sale...

It's no surprise why USB portable monitors are becoming so popular, especially with most people nowadys using laptops over desktop PCs. When I was in 7th grade, I thought Mega Man Star Force’s themes about friendship and brotherhood were profound. Its villains were cartoonishly evil, spouting lines like, “who needs friendship when you have power?” I ate all of that up! Playing through the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection almost 20 years later, I now couldn’t help but wince at the cringy dialogue. That’s not a shock given this Nintendo DS series was tailormade for kids like me back then, but it was still fun to get a chance to reexamine these games on a deeper level two decades on. And when taken as a whole, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection has a still-poignant story arc about gaining confidence through camaraderie packed alongside exciting card battling, newly...
Capcom's brilliant Resident Evil 4 Remake is celebrating its third anniversary, but there's one person who won't be celebrating: the game's infamous merchant, who players have left more than 3 trillion in debt. In an official post on social media to mark the game's third birthday, developer Capcom revealed some official stats for all transactions made by the merchant across every copy of the game to date. Over the past three years, the merchant has sold 39,914,290,699,099 ptas worth of gear (ptas here referencing the old Spanish currency of pesetas). That's a lot of bought gear (over 39 trillion's worth!) and yet... the merchant is still in the red. Since launch, players have simultaneously also sold 43,251,570,618,389 ptas worth of...

Introducing Arbiter 131, a real-time tactical sci-fi strategy sim for PC by developer Ikon with a narrative focus in which you play as the titular Arbiter, analyzing citizen data to prioritize targets and remotely commanding police units. The question is, will you follow orders? Set in the "corporate megacity" of Arkadia, Arbiter 131 bills itself as "XCOM meets Papers, Please and Door Kickers." It promises "branching narratives, moral dilemmas, and challenging tactical scenarios." Check out the announcement trailer (which is a mix of in-engine cinematics and actual gameplay) above and the first screenshots in the gallery below. Ikon says "The game tracks how you handle each scenario and adjusts the narrative organically: there are no...
Hideo Kojima stressed to his team that he wanted to ensure that players jumping into Death Stranding 2: On the Beach would have a great time "all the way to the end." Talking to PC Gamer, lead level designer Hiroaki Yoshiike said that his boss Kojima "wanted more people to enjoy the game" right up until the credits rolled. "This was an order he provided," Yoshiike said. It's an interesting revelation, especially as just ahead of the sequel's release last June, musician Yoann "Woodkid" Lemoine said that Kojima made some big changes to the game halfway through because playtesting results were "too good," and he didn't want his work to be "mainstream" or easily forgotten. Yoshiike said that while the first game "introduced all the new...
Shares in Pearl Abyss, the developer and publisher of Crimson Desert, skyrocketed today after the company announced 3 million sales — addressing a significant stock price collapse that occured around the game’s launch. Yesterday, Pearl Abyss announced Crimson Desert had sold an impressive 3 million copies in just five days. The open world action game launched on March 19 and sold 2 million copies in a day, with an additional 1 million copies sold in the subsequent four days. It's an impressive sales return, but things were looking a little shaky when Crimson Desert came out. Crimson Desert launched big on Steam with nearly 250,000 concurrent players, but was met with a 'mixed' user review rating on Valve’s platform. Much of the early...
A "fan-driven collaboration designed to give players a new way" to play EverQuest is on the way: EverQuest Legends. Developed by Daybreak Games in partnership with Game Jawn, EverQuest Legends boasts everything you'll remember from the hugely influential game, including the original art style, graphics, zones, spell effects, loot, and music, along with "countless" contemporary improvements that improve things like the user interface, upgraded spell and ability management, and "other quality of life enhancements." The gameplay itself has also been retuned and "designed from the ground up" to support casual or solo players by enabling players to select up to three active classes per character, and "utilizing new ways to upgrade weapons...
Marathon has been out for a few weeks now, and we’ve yet to get an official sales figure. So, how’s it doing? According to one analyst: “Marathon hasn't exactly made the splash Sony and Bungie wanted.” Bungie’s ultra hardcore extraction shooter has sold around 1.2 million copies so far, according to a report by Alinea Analytics, generating gross revenues of around $55 million across PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. While Marathon is a first-party Sony game in the sense that it’s developed by the Sony-owned Bungie, it feels very much like a Bungie published game. Indeed, Bungie — not Sony — is listed as the publisher not just on Steam, but on the PlayStation Store. Perhaps that’s why an estimated 70% of the sales...
Sony's main PlayStation Plus Game Catalog addition for April 2026 has been leaked online. As ever, the forthcoming month's additions have been posted ahead of time by reliable leaker billbil-kun from Dealabs — though, this time, just one title has been determined. That game is Lords of the Fallen, the 2023 Souls-like action RPG that's a successor to the classic 2014 title of the same name. PlayStation Plus subscribers signed up to all membership tiers (Essential, Extra and Premium) will be able to play it from April 7 to May 5. Lords of the Fallen's arrival via PlayStation Plus is timely, coming just a couple of months after its surprise Update 2.5 dropped in December, and a few months before the launch of a full sequel, Lords of...
Tekken 8's development team has released a statement promising to address the "strong community response" arising after hundreds of fans left negative Steam reviews, bringing the fighting game's recent reviews rating down to "Mostly Negative" on Valve's platform. With hundreds of Tekken fans sharing their unhappiness via Steam reviews and the feedback portal over the last week or so, the Tekken team has responded to the "large volume of feedback," revealing it has received "over 700 submissions" and is reviewing each one. The problem, it seems, is that despite assuring the fanbase that it's listening to feedback and would be going "back to basics," some players felt that Season 3 "tripled down on everything the players had issues...
Fortnite staff who survived yesterday's mass cull of workers say they're unable to comprehend the impact on the game's future this year "and beyond." Yesterday, Epic Games announced it was making 1,000 team members redundant. In a statement, Epic boss Tim Sweeney blamed the job losses on the company "spending significantly more than we're making" amid a downturn in interest in Fortnite — despite it remaining one of the most popular games in the world. In the hours that followed, numerous veteran Epic Games employees took to social media to confirm they were among those impacted. This includes senior and long-standing members such as design director Christopher Pope, principle engineer Evan Kinney, and lead writer Nik Blahunka — all of...
