Dead Island 2's gameplay showcase has arrived and it gave fans a gory, brutal, and fun look at the upcoming zombie apocalypse game that is set to be released on April 28, 2023. The showcase featured gameplay and details delivered via a live-action "pulp adventure" that starred three characters also living in a zombie apocalypse. They happen upon a mansion in Los Angeles that happens to have Dead Island 2, and that's how we learn more about the game. The bloody star of the show was the 'Welcome to HELL-A' gameplay trailer that gave us our best look yet at Dead Island 2 in action. On display were the game's brutal combat system that see zombie limbs flying every which way, the wide array of weapons and ways to customize them to a...

Genshin Impact and Sonic Frontiers are storming ahead in the fan poll to decide the winner of the Player’s Voice category at The Game Awards 2022, dominating both Elden Ring and God of War: Ragnarok. The Player’s Voice award is a 100% fan voted category unlike the other awards that are set to be doled out during Geoff Keighley’s yearly show, largely decided by a hand picked jury made up from influencers and members of the media. In the weeks leading up to the live show, gamers get to vote for their favourite title of 2022, whittling the pool down to just five games for the third and final round of voting. This year's finalists include Elden Ring, God of War: Ragnarok, Genshin Impact, Sonic Frontiers, and Stray. At the time of...
FromSoftware has confirmed that Elden Ring's long-rumoured colosseum DLC is real, and it's available tomorrow, December 7, for free. Revealed in a new trailer (below), the Colosseum Update unsurprisingly adds new PvP modes that lets players can face off in the grand arenas scattered around The Lands Between. The trailer doesn't go into specifics on what all of these new modes will be but does clearly show both one on one battles alongside what appears to doubles and even three on three fights. The trailer's description also mentions free-for-alls. "Come forth, warriors, and bask in the glory of the Colosseum," it reads. "The Colosseums of Limgrave, Leyndell, and Caelid will open their gates, allowing players to engage in battles...
Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red has revealed that the game's multiplayer mode was scrapped due to the game's turbulent launch. During an interview with Eurogamer, Philipp Weber (who was a senior quest designer and coordinator on Cyberpunk 2077) revealed how development shifted to focus on fixing what was there instead of adding new features. “We really needed to look at what were the priorities for Cyberpunk [after it launched],” he said. “The priority was that the main experience will run for the people in a really good state, and essentially, the switch of priorities meant that other R&D projects had to go away. With Cyberpunk, we wanted to do many things at the same time, and we just needed to really focus and say, ‘Okay...

The Callisto Protocol’s stuttering issues are due to a “damn clerical error,” according to Striking Distance Studios CEO Glen Schofield. In a string of separate replies on Twitter, Schofield explained that at launch, the wrong file was patched in for The Callisto Protocol and that the error occurred because someone was in a rush. “I’ll figure out how this happened but right now my focus is fixing. All our energy is on that. In the end, I’m responsible and accountable,” Schofield said. On Steam, players have been review-bombing the game due to its poor performance. However, a patch went live late on launch day which helped improve the stuttering issues. Another patch was issued for the console versions that were experiencing...

Riot Games promised another update for its League of Legends fighter, Project L, this year — and it's shaping up just in time to make that deadline with a new look at its gameplay systems. The developer diary dives into the state of some previously revealed champions, like Illaoi, and explains the design philosophies behind turning the League fighter into an assist-based showdown. Cannon kicked off the video with an Illaoi update, explaining previous iterations shared of the champion were early design concepts. Now, it seems those pieces for her model and fleshed-out kit are coming...

Just hours after Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's release date seemingly leaked on Steam, EA has revealed that gameplay for the highly-anticipated title will appear at The Game Awards 2022 later this week. We also got a brand-new piece of art for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, showing Cal Kestis and his droid BD-1: Today's leak listed March 15 as the release date for the Fallen Order sequel. This lines up with EA's plans to release a major game before April 2023, as we learned last month. It's possible that the rumored date could be confirmed alongside the gameplay showcase at The Game Awards. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was first announced this past January. EA released a trailer in May that confirmed the title as well as a 2023 release...
Xbox is preparing to join other major games publishers in raising the prices of its major new first-party titles from $60 to $70. Beginning in 2023, games built for Xbox Series X|S including Forza Motorsport, Redfall, and Starfield will cost $69.99 USD at launch. While Xbox has noted that regional pricing may differ, it has not yet given specifics for other countries. "This price reflects the content, scale, and technical complexity of these titles," a Microsoft spokesperson told IGN. "As with all games developed by our teams at Xbox, they will also be available with Game Pass the same day they launch.” The price increase is unsurprising, given that earlier this year Xbox head Phil Spencer said that the company wouldn't be able to...
The Witcher 3 is releasing a long-awaited next-gen (new-gen?) update that includes features that will bring a 7-year-old game up to par for the beefier console generation. While it won’t convince anyone that The Witcher 3 is suddenly a brand-new, 2022 release, the updates we’ve seen will undoubtedly become the new default version of the game for new and returning players. IGN played three hours of The Witcher 3's next-gen update, which will be released for players who already own the game on a console or PC. You can expect a similar suite of upgrades that typically come with next-gen updates which includes a graphics mode that prioritizes 4K visuals and ray-tracing at 30 fps, or a Performance Mode that prioritizes 60 fps. CD Projekt...

Solas and Cassandra are the latest two characters to join the growing lineup of Dragon Age: Inquisition Statuettes. Check out the slideshow below for an exclusive first look at both figures, as well as the three previously revealed pieces: Both statuettes were sculpted by Big Shot Toys, with painting and prototyping courtesy of JW Productions. As with the other Dragon Age: Inquisition Statuettes, Cassandra and Solas are limited to 1000 pieces worldwide. They're each priced at $149.99...
CD Projekt Red is sunsetting support for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game though has reassured the game will remain online for years to come. Gwent will be supported with new cards and eSports tournaments throughout 2023 but this will end as of 2024 as the game switches to a community-focused approach, in what is internally known as Project Gwentfinity. CD Projekt Red told IGN that a small number of developers will keep Gwent running from this point onwards, with all remaining team members being transferred to other projects at the studio. Project Gwentfinity will see a seasonal progression system added to the game that rewards creative deckbuilding alongside a new balancing feature that allows the community to vote for changes to...
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is so far only confirmed to launch sometime in 2023 but the game's Steam page listed a March 15 release date before quickly removing it. As shared by industry insider Wario64 on Twitter (below), the now now-altered page was updated earlier today to include the date alongside new preorder bonuses but these have since been removed. Electronic Arts has already teased that a major game would be released before April 2023, adding to the legitimacy of the March 15 date. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is also rumoured to be making an appearance at The Game Awards 2022, which take place just a few days away on December 6. The now delisted DLC includes cosmetics based on Han Solo and Luke Skywalker. The Digital Deluxe...
CD Projekt Red has revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 will receive a Game of the Year edition once its Phantom Liberty expansion is released in 2023. As reported by Polish website Stockwatch (and spotted by Insider Gaming), CD Projekt Red president and joint-CEO Adam Kiciński said during a recent investors conference that Cyberpunk 2077 will follow in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's footsteps and receive the new edition that includes all previously released DLC in one package. "It's the natural order of things," he said. "It was the same with the Witcher, which, after both expansions, was finally released as a Game of the Year edition and has been on the market that way every since. The same can be expected in this case." The Phantom Liberty...
Tom French, Halo Infinite's multiplayer creative director who has worked on the franchise for over 11 years, has left 343 Industries. French announced the news on Twitter, saying he is off to "new adventures" but is so proud of his time working alongside Master Chief. "After over 11 1/2 years on Halo, I step out of my Spartan armor for the last time today to head off to new adventures," French said. "It's been a massive honor to have been part of a game I loved so much as a player and admired so much as a developer. I couldn't be more proud of my time at 343." French departs 343 Industries following Halo Infinite's big Winter Update that added match and performance-based XP, the Forge Mode beta, the official launch of online...

John Wick creator Derek Kolstad and Story Kitchen are set to adapt the Kung-Fu third-person action game Sifu into a live-action feature film. As reported by Deadline, Story Kitchen has partnered with Sifu developer Sloclap after a "competitive pursuit" to bring this game to the big screen. Kolstad will be adapting the script, and he will produce alongside Story Kitchen's Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, Dan Jevons, Timothy I. Stevenson, and Jeff Ludwig. For those unfamiliar, Sifu puts you in the shoes of a young Kung-Fu student who is on a brutal journey of revenge. One of the unique parts of Sifu is that players will age every time they die and go from student to master and see their skills improve. In our Sifu review, we said...
Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 has officially arrived and promises to add The Hulk, The Witcher's Geralt of Rivia, Doom's Doom Slayer, and next-gen graphics and features powered by Unreal Engine 5.1. Fortnite's latest chapter is taking players to a whole new realm and, alongside the previously mentioned additions, will also bring with it dirt bikes, the ability to roll in a snowball, a way to launch yourself into the sky and attack enemies with a Shockwave Hammer, a new hurdle mechanic, Reality Augments, and so much more. As for the new Outfits that will be available in the Item Shop and Battle Pass, players will have a lot to look forward to. While The Hulk will join the Item Shop at a later date, the other characters will be part of...
The Callisto Protocol is a game with a myriad of inspirations and references within its design, but on the technical front it is most certainly a leader. Striking Distance is a relatively small, and certainly new studio, filled with a mix of veterans and new members who have collaborated to create one of the most forward-looking games of this generation. But before I get into that, I need to note that while the game is cross-generation, our review code only had access to the new-gen consoles and later the PC version. Game Modes The PS5 and Xbox Series X both have two modes: one is the default, which you could call a Quality mode or Ray Tracing mode, which runs at 30fps and has a dynamic scaling resolution with counts ranging from...

Just hours after Striking Distance Studios launched The Callisto Protocol, players who purchased the game on PC have already noted that the game performs poorly, with many users experiencing stuttering. Now, the team behind the game is working to fix these issues with a day-one patch. Today, The Callisto Protocol's Twitter account announced that a day-one patch for the game's PC version will be out in a few hours. The team also revealed it has a few additional updates on the way, but did not specify what these updates might include. Four years after Mortal Kombat 11's surprise reveal during 2018's Game Awards, some fans have speculated that this year's Game Awards show might include an announcement of a new Mortal Kombat title. Unfortunately for fans of the series, however, Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios isn't quite ready to reveal a new game. Today, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon said in a Tweet that the next installation in the Mortal Kombat series won't be revealed during this year's Game Awards. "4 years ago at the Game Awards we managed to pull off a surprise announcement of MK11, which turned out great," Boon wrote. "Perhaps too great, as many assumed we'd repeat that trick for our next game. Thank you for the anticipation, but we're not...
Developer Games Box S.A. has announced Primitive, a new Unreal Engine 5-powered first-person survival game set in a hostile open-world Stone Age. It's in development for PC, though no release date has been set. "The project is still at its early development stage. Thinking of similar games, Primitive is close to such titles as Far Cry Primal, yet our concept focuses more strongly on showing the primal character of a real world from many thousands of years ago, where it all boiled down to raw power, as well as a fight for dominance and survival," says Tomasz Supeł, CEO of Games Box S.A. A third-person view will be available in addition to first-person, while you'll face off against not just the elements, but also rival Neanderthal...
Harmonix is shutting down live services for Fuser, its two-year-old DJ simulator, on December 19. On that day, Fuser and its DLC will no longer be available to purchase, according to Harmonix, and those who already own it will be restricted to two game modes: Campaign and Quick Play. The developer stopped releasing new paid DLC for Fuser earlier in 2022. Fuser is Harmonix's most recent music game. Players take on the role of a festival DJ trying to conquer the music world. Using a mixing table, players can mix and match different tracks from popular songs to create original remixes. The game features a full story mode as well as an online competitive mode, but the latter will seemingly be shut down following the sunset. Harmonix...
