Blizzard has revealed a number of improvements coming to Diablo 4’s heavily-criticised horses. The action role-playing game’s mounts have come under fire for being too slow, getting caught on bits of the environment, and having too long a cooldown on their activation. During a recent livestream, Blizzard said it was working on improving the collision in Diablo 4, which should in turn help prevent your horse from getting caught on an object that forces them to stop in their tracks. Following the livestream, Diablo game director Joe Shely tweeted to confirm an additional improvement to let the mount charge break through barricades. This change should make mounts less frustrating to use, as you’ll be able to burst through barriers that...
Mortal Kombat 1’s latest playable character reveal sees the time-controlling sand master Geras return after making his debut in Mortal Kombat 11. In the trailer, below, we see Geras, Guardian of the Hourglass, chatting with Thunder Fire God, Liu Kang. There’s certainly some needle between the two old friends, with Geras questioning Liu Kang’s attitude after the Thunder Fire God restarted history. “Your vision of peace may already be compromised,” Geras tells Liu Kang. The inclusion of Gears in Mortal Kombat 1, as well as his comments in the trailer, reinforce the idea of this game being a sequel to Mortal Kombat 11 as well as a soft reboot. Clearly, there is a continuity established here, with the events of Mortal Kombat 11...
Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes on average 20-23 hours to complete, Ubisoft has said. In an interview with French YouTuber Julien Chièze , translated by PCGamesN, Ubisoft lead producer Fabian Salomon said the Mirage completion time rises to 25-30 hours for those who want to see everything the game has to offer, and lowers to around 20 hours for those who rush through. “Given that we do a lot of playtesting internally at Ubisoft, it’s part of our process, we really want to get as close as possible to the players, so we’ll say that the latest playtimes we’ve received average at around 20-23 hours,” Salomon said. “That can go up to 25-30 hours for the completionists, and we’ll say that those who will be rushing the game will be around 20...

Path of Exile has long run in parallel to Diablo. When the original launched back in 2013, it was pitched as a fresh alternative to the then-troubled Diablo III. Now, with Path of Exile 2 in development and Diablo IV struggling, their identity once again seem inextricably linked. Reacting to Diablo IV's struggles since the launch of Season 1, director Jonathan Rogers told IGN, "I mean ultimately the learning process for running a live game with Seasons like this is a hard one. We've learned our lessons about how to do this stuff. Honestly, when I look at that, all I can think is, 'Man, it's tough. It's a real tough situation to be in.'" Path of Exile has been running its version of Seasons, known as Leagues, for many years now. With...
At first glance, you might expect Laika: Aged Through Blood to maybe have a bit more chill than it does. That is, until just minutes into it, when you find out its beautifully apocalyptic environments, somber soundtrack, and adorably anthropomorphic cast are actually just a backdrop for an adventure that’s filled with shockingly gratuitous violence, strong language, and a harrowing story of loss and grief. It’s kinda like that one episode of South Park where you find out that all the innocent looking Christmas critters worship Satan – and I mean that in the best possible way. It’s difficult to explain how the woodland cast blends so seamlessly with absolutely horrifying brutality, but at least in the opening chunk of content available...
Path of Exile 2 has graduated into a full standalone sequel to the original Path of Exile, fully shaking off its origins as an expansion pack. "When we announced Path of Exile 2 at ExileCon 2019, we told you guys that we were releasing Path of Exile 2 as an expansion to Path of Exile 1 and that both campaigns would be playable in the same game client with a shared endgame," director Jonathan Rogers explained. "But Path of Exile 2's scope has continued to grow and grow. It's far more than just an expansion with a new campaign, it's entirely new monsters, skills, mechanics, classes, everything you would expect from the next generation of action RPGs. Not to even mention revamps of most of the Path of Exile 1 league content. This thing...
Today, Square Enix announced that its successful MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV, is on its way to Xbox consoles after years of being a PlayStation console exclusive. And to hear the CEO of Square Enix tell it, it sounds like Xbox has successfully ensured that even more Square Enix games will end up on its consoles in the coming years. During the Final Fantasy Fan Fest 2023, Final Fantasy XIV game director Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) welcomed Xbox head Phil Spencer onto the stage alongside Square Enix CEO Takashi Kiryu to celebrate the Xbox release announcement. While onstage, Kiryu made the following statement: "And one more thing: as CEO of Square Enix, we want to continue to deliver fabulous games to fans across the world. And of course, we...
With the announcement of a brand new Final Fantasy 14 expansion that's giving everyone massive Final Fantasy X vibes, fans are clamoring for the addition of Final Fantasy's favorite sport: Blitzball. Unfortunately, game director Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) has a message to everyone begging for the weird, underwater soccer game: "No Blitzball!" That's what Yoshi-P told fans during today's Final Fantasy Fan Fest 2023, when while discussing updates to the Golden Saucer in upcoming patches, fans began to eagerly shout "Blitzball" from the audience. Nope, sorry! No Blitzball! The audience in Las Vegas wasn't alone in wanting Blitzball, either. Online, the Final Fantasy 14 community has reacted dramatically to Yoshi-P's dismissal of their...

In the latest Campfire Chat for Diablo 4, Blizzard announced a host of upcoming balance changes in a livestream that opened with a somber tone. In a lengthy stream in which developers discussed upcoming changes to their hit ARPG, the mood seemed quite grim initially, as the usually smiling panel were seen with more serious expressions after a tough week of critical feedback from the Diablo IV community. In the past, many of the familiar faces could be seen smiling and making jokes, especially in the opening moments of their Campfire Chats, but today's presentation had a noticably different mood. It's also worth noting that Campfire Chats have been described by Blizzard as casual discussions where patch notes aren't discussed, but...
Final Fantasy XIV is receiving a major graphics makeover in an update for the upcoming Dawntrail expansion. At Final Fantasy Fest 2023, producer Naoki Yoshida said in the Final Fantasy XIV keynote that the graphics update will improve the screen-wide aesthetic appeal and higher-resolution textures and shadows. The quality of the improved material in the game preserves the overall look you know and love, specifically the look and feel of existing characters. "We're really taking care that you'll look at your updated character and won't say, 'Oh that's really not what I expected at all,'" Yoshida said, pointing out that all the characters, including NPCs, will have improved hair texture, improved eyes, and beautiful skin. We're really...
Dawntrail will be Final Fantasy XIV's fifth major expansion, Square Enix announced today. The new expansion was unveiled during the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest keynote with a trailer featuring a summer vacation theme and multiple new jobs, all coming summer of 2024. At Final Fantasy Fan Fest 2023, FF14 director Naoki Yoshida (affectionately known as Yoshi-P) took the stage to unveil the new expansion, joyfully declaring he wanted to continue to work on the game "until I die or even afterward." Dawntrail's story is intended to be "the very best summer vacation a hero could possibly have," in "a sudden change from the ending of Endwalker" and marks the first step into a "new story" for the game. It takes place in the "New World," known...
Devolver Digital and developer Free Lives’ 2015 hit Broforce is basting its biceps in baby oil one more time. It’s been confirmed the belated final update for the game will arrive on August 8 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. In conjunction with the update, Broforce will also arrive on Xbox for the first time; an Xbox One edition of Broforce will be available via Game Pass. The update, dubbed Broforce Forever, will add six new “ultra patriotic bros” to the mix, including riffs on ’90s TV action heroines Xebro Warrior Princess and Broffy the Vampire Slayer, plus Bro Gummer (inspired by Burt Gummer from Tremors), Seth Brondle (inspired by Seth Brundle from The Fly), Demolition Bro (inspired by Demolition Man’s John Spartan)...
Developer Free Lives has returned to the pectoral-popping embrace of its much-loved 2015 hit to deliver one final update: Broforce Forever, which is packed with new bros, new modes, new moves, and one final batch of bug fixes. What drove the studio to put together a surprise update around seven years after we thought we’d seen the last of Broforce? Who decides which bros make the cut in the final product? And can we expect more from the series and, dare we say it, Broforce 2? We spoke with Broforce creative director Evan Greenwood on the motivation to return to Broforce, the hilarious process for adding new bros to the game, and the possible future of the series. IGN: It’s been a long time since Broforce news; what was the...
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on PC is for all intents and purposes unplayable without an SSD, experts have revealed. Digital Foundry’s John Linneman discussed the game’s performance when running off an actual PlayStation 4 hard-drive on a machine just above minimum spec. As the gameplay shows, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Part breaks down during its famous level-shifting mechanic. Developer Insomniac and publisher Sony drew criticism after Rift Apart’s PC specs were announced in the run up to the game’s launch. The specs confirmed Rift Apart does not require an SSD to run, despite this being a central part of the original PlayStation 5 version's marketing. Julian Huijbregts, online community specialist at porting studio Nixxes Software...
In recent conversations with fellow MMO fanatics, we always seem to come around to lamenting how the genre has reached something of an evolutionary dead end in the mainstream. With World of Warcraft leading the way to nowhere, the style of the developer-curated world we often refer to as a "theme park"-style game has struggled to do anything truly new since Blizzard's powerhouse came to dominate the scene in 2004. It's an entrenched set of conventions that rely on heavy phasing and instancing, limiting how much a massively multiplayer online game can take advantage of being, well, massive, multiplayer, and online. But before Azeroth opened its gates, a spreadsheet-laden spaceship game from a small studio in Iceland went all-in on the...

The developer of Remnant 2 has promised to improve the game’s performance following its huge launch. The well-received looter-shooter soulslike is currently the second best-selling game on Steam, up 14 places since last week. Remnant 2 has enjoyed a significant launch on Valve’s platform, with close to double the amount of concurrent players than Remnant: From the Ashes had at launch. At the time of publication, Remnant 2 was the 12th most-played game on Steam with 53,848 concurrent players and a peak today of 82,872. Developer Gunfire Games said it was “humbled” and “grateful” for the overwhelmingly positive response from the community, while acknowledging a “small portion” of players have encountered some bugs. “We know that...
Tekken 8 fans used Cheat Engine to dig into the game’s files, uncovering a list of potentially unannounced playable characters. Players scraped the build used for the recent PlayStation 5 Tekken 8 closed network test, which ran from July 21 to 24, and took to Discord to report their findings. An image showing a list of character files that includes those already announced also mentions unannounced characters such as Shaheen (Tekken 7), Raven (Tekken 5), Zafina (Tekken 6), Yoshimitsu (Tekken), Steve (Tekken 4), and Alisa (Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion). Fans currently believe this leaked is incomplete because it does not include series mainstays such as Kuma. But it’s a solid indication of what to expect from the fighting game upon...
Activision brought Steam multiplayer for 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 offline to combat hackers. TechCrunch reports hackers were infecting players with a worm that spreads automatically in online lobbies from one infected player to another. As Techcrunch points out, this suggests hackers have exploiting bugs in Modern Warfare 2 to execute malicious code on players’ computers. “Multiplayer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) on Steam was brought offline while we investigate reports of an issue,” Activision said in a tweet. Despite being 14 years old, Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 retains a modest fanbase that sees hundreds of concurrents on Steam. Older Call of Duty games on Xbox 360 received a surprise shot in...
Modern Warfare 3 is set to be revealed via an event in Call of Duty: Warzone, Activision has said. Activision has used its battle royale to reveal new Call of Duty games in the past, and it plans to use Warzone once again for the worldwide reveal of what the publisher is still calling Call of Duty 2023, despite acknowledging the leak of the Modern Warfare 3 logo. “Drop into Call of Duty: Warzone to experience the worldwide reveal for Call of Duty 2023 in a limited-time event,” reads a note on the Call of Duty blog. “Join the ranks of Shadow Company to take on Konni forces and secure the chemical weapon threat before it’s too late. Stay tuned to Call of Duty channels for more details about the upcoming reveal.” That’s all we have...
Thank your own personal deity, it's Friday. I'm going to keep this intro brief for a number of important reasons. Firstly, because I have to go preorder myself one of these Spider-Man 2 DualSenses (because they're apt to sell out). Call of Duty is known to have unique and unexpected skins. From the recent The Boys crossover event, to a feline Operator cosmetic set, Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 lobbies are filled with outlandish characters. And now, players can expect to see Nicki Minaj and Snoop Dogg enter the fray. The official Call of Duty Twitter account shared images of both artists. Minaj can be seen holding a bright pink gun, while Snoop Dogg is holding a blue and gold rifle. Information regarding the cost of the skins is currently unavailable, but they are set to release with the Season 5 update launching on August 2. According to the official account, the two musicians are part of a 50-year celebration of Hip Hop. Alongside the skins, players can...
F1 Manager 2023 takes all the excitement of a race weekend and shifts the focus to behind the pit wall. If you’re a fan of the Codemasters F1 games, you know how stressful the tight turns on some of these street circuits are. I can't tell you how many times a qualifying lap has been ruined by a "light touch" of the wall at Monaco. In F1 Manager, that's not my problem; my only job is to tell the driver to watch their tires, fuel consumption, and about a dozen other metrics – on not just one F1 car, but two. F1 Manager 2023 fixes minor mistakes from the series debut last year and adds new ways to play, and it remains a compelling motorsports management simulation that’s committed to helping you grow both your knowledge and love of the...
The first thing you might ask yourself when you start playing One Punch Man: World is -- why does it take so many darn punches to put down basic enemies? It says “One Punch” right there in the title. The reason for this was not made clear during my recent 30-minute play session. Fortunately for One Punch Fans, you’ll find an action game that looks and plays like an interactive version of the anime. Key moments have been accurately recreated in-engine, and you’ll even be able to expand on what was seen in the show. At a glance, you might even think you’re watching the anime instead of playing the game. My time in One Punch Man: World began with a scene of our hero, Saitama, being rudely awakened from deep sleep in his own bed by...
