A fresh Red Dead Redemption rating in South Korea has sparked rumours about a possible remake or remaster.
As spotted by Idle Sloth on Twitter (below), South Korea's Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) could be at the centre of another leak after listing something simply titled "Red Dead Redemption" earlier in June.
The listing is completely separate from the original 2010 Red Dead Redemption as the rating for this can still be seen on GRAC's website, as well as Red Dead Redemption 2, which is also listed as its own entity.
Nothing else is given away in the listing, except that this version of Red Dead Redemption has also been rated as an 18.
The South Korean ratings board has been the source of many leaks in the past...
The enhanced versions of Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate II going for nada is nutso. Even if you only have a passing fancy for epic RPG-ing, you still owe it to yourself to make a quick (free) Prime account to claim them. Then, kick back and enjoy several hundred hours of the kind of writing that makes one wonder what happened to modern era BioWare.

Three years after it exploded into a pandemic-era sensation, an Among Us animated series is in development at CBS Studios, Variety reports.
The new series will be based on the premise of the game, with a murderous Impostor sabotaging the ship, backstabbing crewmembers, and generally sowing chaos. Who will be the Impostor? Maybe we'll find out in the season finale.
Among Us developer Innersloth is involved with the project. It is being led by Owen Dennis, who worked on Regular Show as a writer and storyboard artist before creating Infinity Train, a Cartoon Network series about an endless train filled with impossible worlds. Titmouse, the studio behind Big Mouth and Star Trek: Lower Decks, is handling the animation.
Since Among Us...
The final new card release of the Marvel Snap Spider-Versus season is none other than Spider-Man 2099. The Spidey of the future gives some serious firepower to the Move archetype, but is it enough to justify its cost of 3000 Collector's Tokens? To find out, we’re going to break down what the Spider-Man 2099 card does, explore what strategies best suit it, and what decks it can be used in.
Just like last week’s Spider-Ham card (that we highly recommend), Spider-Man 2099 is starting out in Series 4 instead of Series 5 and will cost 3000 Tokens. This is part of Marvel Snap’s efforts to make new cards more accessible to players upon release.
Miguel O’Hara became a very different kind of Spider-Man after his sabotaged Alchemax science...
Diablo 4 Patch 1.03 is here, and it's a big one.
In a lengthy list of patch notes posted to their blog, Blizzard detailed Diablo 4 Patch 1.03, which included an enormous list of gameplay improvements and some hotly requested changes to address the endgame XP grind.
Many issues that have bothered players have been addressed, like rogues becoming invisible indefinitely in the PvP-focused Field of Hatred zones, and disappearing corpses when using Corpse Tendrils as a necromancer.
But the most notable changes can be found in a section called "Experience Rewards," where numerous improvements to the endgame XP grind can be found.
A major issue with the endgame grind is that Nightmare Dungeons, which are meant to be one of the main...
PlayStation boss Jim Ryan has admitted he does not view Starfield's Xbox console exclusivity as "anti-competitive".
During the ongoing trial between Microsoft and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the head of PlayStation took the stand. During his testimony, he was asked if anything was wrong with Arkane Studios' Redfall and Bestheda Game Studios' Starfield being console exclusives on Xbox.
"I don't like it, but I have fundamentally no quarrel with it," Ryan replied. When asked how he felt about Starfield skipping PlayStation 5 and being exclusive to the Xbox Series X/S on console, he said: "I don't like it, but I don't view it as anti-competitive."
Console exclusivity, particularly in relation to the Call of Duty, is at the heart...
Season: A Letter to the Future developer Scavengers Studio has been hit with layoffs after the game underperformed commercially.
As reported by GI.biz, Scavengers staff has been reduced from around 40 members to just 16, with its debut game Season only selling 60,000 copies since its launch in January on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
"While Season received critical acclaim, it did not meet our commercial expectations," said CEO Amélie Lamarche in a message to staff, obtained by GI.biz. "Despite our efforts to boost sales through content updates and discounts, the game only sold 60,000 copies during its first five months, which falls far short of what the studio needs to survive."
Lamarche said that, because of "the current...
BioWare has confirmed layoffs within the Star Wars: The Old Republic development team as the game prepares to transition to a new developer.
Earlier this month, IGN revealed EA was nearing an agreement to move the ongoing development and operation of the long-running MMORPG from BioWare to third-party studio Broadsword Online Games.
The agreement sees SWTOR handed over to current Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot developer Broadsword Online, which is run by former Mythic Entertainment co-founder and BioWare VP Rob Denton, who previously worked on SWTOR in its early days.
At the time, IGN reported 70-80 people were part of the core development team of The Old Republic, more than half of whom were expected to move to Broadsword...
Spoiler Warning: The following article features full spoilers for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor including one of its major boss fights, taking place on Koboh during Cal's fourth mainline visit there.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has a ton of over the top moments, headlined by major boss fights against immortal aliens, ancient Sith, and even Darth Vader. Yet, somehow, it's a battle against Rick the Door Technician that's the most intense of all.
"That's the most unexpected boss in any video game I've played," said one Reddit user. "I was utterly flabbergasted," said another.
One of Jedi: Survivor's toughest fights sees protagonist Cal Kestis take on hoards of enemies in an Imperial hangar. It's gruelling, with players having to take down...
For a team whose bread-and-butter is stern and serious motorcycle simulations, Milestone’s 2021 toy-based racer Hot Wheels Unleashed certainly seemed like a quirky fit at the time. However, buried amongst 30-or-so iterations of the Supercross, MXGP, MotoGP, SBK, and Ride series, Hot Wheels Unleashed shone like a die cast diamond. Combining the impeccable speed brandished by the likes of arcade racing icon Burnout with the twisted madness of Trackmania, Hot Wheels Unleashed boasts toy-sized racing that’s small on scale and massive on fun. After the positive reception for the original, a sequel is no real surprise – but how does Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged improve on the 1:64 formula? At least, other than just adding motorcycles...
Microsoft would have kept Sega games multiplatform if it had bought the company, court documents have revealed.
As part of a strategy document released during the ongoing Federal Trade Commission (FTC) vs Microsoft trial to determine the fate of Xbox’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft outlined its operating plan for Sega, had its plan to buy the company behind Sonic came to be.
The document, reviewed by IGN, reveals Microsoft’s plan for Sega to report into Xbox Game Studios boss Matt Booty with the following operating principles:
We will continue to develop and sell all acquired games and franchises on all relevant platforms (e.g., Android, iOS, PlayStation, Steam, Switch, Windows, Xbox, etc).
We will bring...
Starfield on Xbox is getting a physical disc edition after all according to Bethesda, who caused confusion earlier in June by posting a tweet to the contrary.
As reported by Eurogamer, a breakdown of editions on Bethesda's website confirms the "game disc [is] included with physical purchases of Xbox's standard edition".
Bethesda was met with backlash on June 25 after its support account on Twitter said this wouldn't be the case and, just like the PC version, the physical copy of Starfield on Xbox would only include a download code.
The Constellation Edition, which costs $300 and comes with a real version of the in-game watch, a Constellation patch, and more, won't have a physical disc, however, even on Xbox, which perhaps sparked...
IO Interactive's upcoming online fantasy RPG may very well be an Xbox exclusive, according to internal Microsoft documents.
In evidence submitted in the ongoing FTC v. Microsoft trial over the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard, one specific document detailed Xbox's research into potentially acquiring a number of companies, including Hitman developer IO Interactive. On a page listing "expected and previously shipped games," IOI was listed as working on something called "Project Dragon," an RPG shooter for PC and Xbox Series X and S. Elsewhere in the document, it is stated that Project Dragon is "for XGS Publishing," or Xbox Game Studios.
"Project Dragon" was previously leaked via a Windows Central report as an Xbox-exclusive fantasy...
FTC's legal battle to stop Xbox from acquiring Activision Blizzard continues on this week, and while the trial is off for today, a rash of evidence documents appeared online during the break that have brought to light some interesting clues about who all Xbox is interested in acquiring. Namely: Sega.
An internal Xbox document submitted as evidence in the ongoing trial shows the company's acquisition strategy as of May 2021. The document begins by recommending multiple acquisitions to fill perceived content gaps in mobile development as well as "franchises with strong communities and deep engagement" and "casual, social, and cross-generational franchises."
The presentation suggests Xbox first compiled a list of 100 developers based...
Microsoft expects a brand new IP from Destiny and Marathon developer Bungie to release in 2025.
In previously confidential Microsoft documents released as part of this week's ongoing Xbox FTC trial, Microsoft wrote about a new IP in the works from the studio.
"As of 2021, [Bungie] has more than doubled its headquarters space and plans to open a new studio in Amsterdam by 2022 for ongoing support on Destiny 2 and development of a new IP, currently expected to release in 2025," Microsoft's document reads in part.
Elsewhere in this document, Microsoft notes that Bungie trademarked the name "Matter" in 2018, which it believes may be Bungie's next original IP.
This document is filled with evaluations of various developers and...
MultiVersus has officially shut down until early 2024 and players have taken to social media to share their mixed feelings over its hiatus.
While the game was perceived by many to be a full release already due to its battle pass and other microtransactions, DLC characters, and so on, Warner Bros. Games announced in March it would close down as of June 25.
Now the date has been and gone, players have shared their conflicted feelings online, with most just appearing slightly sad they can't play their favourite game for the best part of a year.
"Well ladies and gentleman, the open beta is officially over," said Officer_Jack on Reddit. "I'll be looking forward to the full release of MultiVersus next year."
Other hopeful players filled...
Some of the most memorable action games I’ve played are 2012’s Max Payne 3 and 2005’s F.E.A.R., and Trepang2 cashes in hard on those memories of slow-motion action and strong enemy AI and variety. Yes, it’s really called Trepang2. No, it has nothing to do with the sea cucumbers of the same name. Instead, this is a first-person, stealth-action shooter that’s tilted decidedly toward action. It’s got plenty of excellent running and gunning, and while its story isn’t all that frightening there are occasional successful jumpscares that mix up the near-constant mayhem of battling its surprisingly smart commandos and corporate cultists. Granted, it’s also a bit short if you’re focused on its main objectives, but that just means it never...
The gang is back and this time they’re in New York City pulling off the most daring heists. The setting change up from Washington DC from Payday 2 is supposed to be an “enormous living breathing world” that aims to add new layers to the gameplay experience. Dallas, Hoxton, Wolf, and Chains are on the returning cast roster and the story is picking up where it left off. Our favorite heisters are coming back from retirement.
Payday 3 sticks to the classic formula of being a four player co-op shooter. You create your ideal team loadout with your friends and you can bring various weapons and gadgets into the heist with you. You can play solo and with AI teammates if you’re really a solo player but I can’t speak to how that feels since the...
The Atomic Heart: Annihilation Instinct DLC comes out August 2, publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Mundfish announced.
This DLC, the first for the action-RPG, adds a new area, new weapons, new enemies and a new glove ability. The trailer is below.
Here’s the official line on the new DLC: "Continue the story in the Annihilation Instinct DLC and learn what happened to this dystopian world after the climax of Atomic Heart. Prepare to embark on a journey through the new mind-bending Mendeleev Complex and its surrounding swamps, and discover the truth about NORA as Major P-3 is pulled back into Facility 3826.
"Survive vicious, shapeshifting new enemies, and take them down using two cunning new weapons - the ranged Secateur and...
Microsoft has created a Barbie-themed Xbox Series S, the first ever Xbox Barbie dolls, and Barbie cars for Forza Horzion 5.
Working with Warner Bros. Pictures and Mattel to promote the upcoming Barbie movie, Microsoft created a classic 1956 Chevrolet Corvette EV Corvette in signature Barbie pink and Ken’s 2022 GMC HUMMER EV Pickup for Playground’s racer, both of which are free for all Forza Horizon 5 players from today.
Meanwhile, there are interchangeable Xbox Wireless Controller faceplates designed after Barbie and Ken’s on-screen outfits. But the star of the show is the custom Xbox Series S built into an actual Barbie DreamHouse. This is a competition prize only that’s up for grabs from July 10.
Also a competition prize are a...
At The Game Awards 2020, Xbox unveiled a new game from its fledgling studio The Initiative: a reboot of Perfect Dark.
The two-minute trailer was purely cinematic, showing off an “eco-futuristic” Earth as a camera soared over a massive city bedecked in greenery. After zipping through a skyscraper, we saw a woman gazing at distant pyramids amid a raging storm. “Did you find what you’re looking for, Agent Dark?” a voice asks. “Not yet,” replied Joanna Dark. “This is only the beginning.”
Three years later, developer The Initiative is still, in many ways, only at the beginning.
At the time the trailer – created by an external CG house – was shown, it was “very obviously way far ahead of anywhere the game was at,” according to one...
The modders behind Skyblivion say it’s on track to launch in 2025, but they still need volunteers to help the ambitious fan project get over the finish line.
Skyblivion, dubbed “Oblivion Remastered”, is a fan effort to remake Bethesda’s much-loved role-playing game The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim engine. Over 50 volunteers make up the development team at the TESRenewal modding group.
The team released new information in a fresh video. There’s a release goal of 2025, which is based upon the current completion percentage of the various parts of the project such as the recreation of the world map, terrain, interiors, 3D assets, quests, gameplay systems, and music. The team added it will not turn its...
SEGA recently released the Yakuza series on GOG but not without removing several developers and support studios from the games' credits.
As reported by PC Gamer, Timo653 on Reddit pointed out each game in the series is affected, with chief creator Toshihiro Nagoshi perhaps the highest profile removal.
He's not the only one though, as in in Yakuza 0, for example, even director Kazuki Hosokawa, art supervisor Saizo Nagai, and game design supervisor Koji Yoshida were removed.
Support studios, who don't lead design on the game but assist with more technical aspects, were also cut. Lab42 was previously credited as porting Yakuza 0 and Kiwami to PC but was removed from those credits. QLOC was similarly credited with porting Kiwami 2 and...
Mortal Kombat 1 held an online stress test over the weekend, and it didn’t take long for players to discover the return of the Quitality.
A Quitality is a finishing move introduced into the series with 2015’s Mortal Kombat X. They only occur during an online match when a player leaves before the end of the winning round (so, before Mortal Kombat’s famous Finish Him / Her prompt). In Mortal Kombat X, a Quitality would see the offending player character’s head explode in a shower of gore. In Mortal Kombat 11, the quitter would either end up impaled on a giant rock spike or explode.
In Mortal Kombat 1, however, a Quitality comes with a twist... of the player’s neck. Rather than explode or fall on spikes, the offending character now...
Blizzard has stepped in to clear up confusion surrounding the rarest items in Diablo 4, confirming six currently exist in the game. However, players reckon it’s nigh-on impossible to get one.
After nearly a month in which players wondered about the status of Diablo 4's rarest unique items because just a handful were found, Diablo 4 lead class designer Adam Jackson took to Twitter to confirm six super rare uniques are currently in the game:
Doombringer (unique sword slashing)
The Grandfather (unique two-handed sword slashing)
Ring of Starless Skies (unique ring)
Andariel’s Visage (unique helm)
Harlequin Crest (unique helm)
Melted Heart of Selig (unique amulet)
According to Jackson, these super rare unique items only drop from...
Final Fantasy 16 players are absolutely loving Ralph Ineson's performance as Cid, who's essentially become the unofficial summer voice of video games after also appearing in Diablo 4.
Ineson has emerged as the standout star in Final Fantasy 16 with fans loving his cheeky attitude and deep Yorkshire drawl. "Cid's voice actor is insanely good," said chai_zaeng on Reddit.
"This man's voice is deeper than the Marianas trench and his delivery of Cid's lines is awesome: so nuanced and yet so full of emotion."
Others agreed. "Such a brilliant job as Cid," said TheKarnov on Twitter. "I actually slow down to make sure I hear every Cid line when I'm playing," added RabToons. The official PlayStation UK account chimed in too. "This is now a...
Blizzard spent much of Sunday battling a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack that rendered Diablo 4 unplayable for hours.
Players began to report issues signing into the always-online action role-playing game as well as other Battle.net games on Saturday night, and login problems persisted into Sunday morning. Blizzard’s customer support Twitter account revealed the source of the problem: a DDoS attack it was “actively working to mitigate”.
The issue was so bad a warning message was added to Battle.net itself. It wasn’t until Sunday evening the same Twitter account declared the DDoS attack over, although it did not specify whether Blizzard mitigated the attack, the people behind the attack simply stopped their action, or a...
Just like an actual ocean, Dave The Diver is beautiful at first glance, but then you dive into it to find a vast, wonderful world to explore just beneath the surface. This waterlogged adventure manages to exceed the expectations of an already hilarious premise with some of the most irresistible exploration, sim management, and minigames I’ve seen in a long time, and which kept me completely glued to my seat for far more hours than I’d ever intended. With characters and a story that are deceptively substantial and more content packed into it than I could have anticipated, Dave The Diver never stopped surprising me. If you would have told me that one of the best games I’d play this year, standing alongside juggernauts with...

Final Fantasy XVI is out this month, and despite how good it looks, it’s literally only coming to PlayStation, to begin with, which leaves the rest of us schmucks all alone without the latest game in a classically turn-based game series. However, Final Fantasy XVI isn’t a turn-based RPG at all, but an action one. […]
