The Baldur’s Gate 3 updates are coming in thick and fast. Now, developer Larian has released the game's tenth hotfix, which addresses a number of issues.
Hotfix #10, now live on all platforms except Mac, addresses visual issues and bugs, Larian said in a post on Steam. Chief among them is a fix for an issue where Astarion’s voice wasn’t quite following what he was supposed to say during dialogues.
Elsewhere, there’s a fix for Shadowheart not following the party, or as Larian put it: “We've asked Shadowheart to stop getting distracted by the wonderful vistas of the Sword Coast and she should now follow with the rest of the team.” That pesky Shadowheart!
Larian continues to have fun with Baldur’s Gate 3’s patch notes. I enjoyed this...
Braid, considered by many to be one of the greatest indie games of all time, is set for an Anniversary Edition on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, PC, and Netflix on April 30, 2024. A Mac and Linux release is due out later.
Braid is a puzzle-platform game originally released in August 2008 by designer Jonathan Blow at the height of the Xbox 360’s Xbox Live Arcade service. Gameplay revolves around an eye-catching time-manipulation mechanic players use to progress.
The Anniversary Edition includes improved sound and new mixes and variants of the soundtrack by Martin Stig Andersen (Control, Inside) and Hans Christian Kock. Crucially, there are ‘hand-repainted’ graphics by original artist David Hellman, and...
Activision has moved to justify its new Call of Duty launcher ahead of the release of Modern Warfare 3, touting easier file management and seamless title switching.
Call of Duty HQ is the new platform from which Call of Duty games such as the imminent Modern Warfare 3 are launched, and replaces the Modern Warfare 2 app. It is not possible to jump straight into Modern Warfare 3, Modern Warfare 2, or battle royale Warzone via their own dedicated apps. Rather, players must log into Call of Duty HQ, find their game of choice via a Netflix-style launcher, then load the app. Call of Duty HQ is required to play either Modern Warfare 3, 2, or Warzone, and unlike parts of those games, Call of Duty HQ cannot be deleted if you want to play...
An apparent mistake saw the PC version of Persona 5 Tactica made briefly playable on Steam yesterday, a week prior to its planned November 17 launch.
Around 10am EST yesterday a handful of eagle-eyed Steam users took to social media to report that Persona 5 Tactica had seemingly become available to install, with users later claiming they were able to play the opening section of the game. Others who had wishlisted the game on Steam reported receiving emails notifying them that the title had been released.
According to the third-party metrics tracker SteamDB, a meagre three players were able to download the title and get it playing in the roughly 20-minute window before developer Atlus and publisher Sega took action to correct the...
Gameplay footage of Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch is finally in the wild as a result of one fan getting the game early.
Hogwarts Legacy hits Switch in just a few days on November 14 but publisher Warner Bros. Games and developer Avalanche Software, somewhat bizarrely, haven't shared a single glimpse of gameplay, even with it already being available on other platforms.
Reddit user Talhelfg revealed on November 7 they received a boxed copy of the game early, however, and posted a 38-second gameplay video to X/Twitter before swiftly taking both posts down. The internet being what it is means the video had already spread though, and X/Twitter user Jose Morales Ros reposted the leaked gameplay themselves, which can be seen below...
Sony president Hiroki Totoki has said the company is reviewing PlayStation's live service game push amid development trouble that has already seen Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us multiplayer game hit with setbacks.
Totoki said in a financial call Sony is reviewing the 12 live service PlayStation games it has in the works, and committed to launching only six of them by the end of financial year 2025, meaning by the end of March 2026. Totoki said Sony is still working on when the other six live service games will come out, adding: "It's not that we stick to certain titles, but for the gamers quality should be the most important.”
Sony announced plans in February 2022 to launch more than 10 live service games by March 2026, later saying...
Six years after its glitzy launch, Blizzard's grand experiment appears to be over. Blizzard confirmed in a statement to IGN that it is "transitioning from the Overwatch League," seemingly spelling the end for the competition once billed as the future of esports.
"We are transitioning from the Overwatch League and evolving competitive Overwatch in a new direction," an Activision Blizzard spokesperson told IGN. "We are grateful to everyone who made OWL possible and remain focused on building our vision of a revitalized esports program. We are excited to share details with you all in the near future."

If you took the bold plunge on an import Steam Deck like yours truly, today's your day. Humble Bundle has collated some impressive discounts on handheld PC games. Be sure to get in and pay less on commute-slaying experiences. Ubisoft (among others) also seem to be quite determined to shift a bunch of Ultimate Editions out the door as well. Grab you the "bestest versions" while the going's good.
In wayback news, please light a big 18-shaped candle for Resi 4 on PS2. Truly, it was one of the crown jewels of that system (much as it was for GameCube). I'm delighted to be able to recommend you a modern reincarnation called Resident Evil 4 Remake. 10/10, masterpiece.

With SAG-AFTRA video game actors and major video game companies still negotiating over a new union contract amid a year packed with major labor actions, the possibility of a video game actor strike continues to loom. But one major gaming executive isn't worried about the possibility: the CEO of GTA 6 publisher Take-Two Interactive.
Answering an investor question on today's Take-Two earnings call about whether or not GTA 6 could see a delay if a strike happened, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick seemed to think it was unlikely that SAG-AFTRA's video game actors would go on strike like their TV and film brethren. Rather, he said he thought negotiations would turn out "just fine."
As he put it, "Negotiations are expected to resume next week...
The Microsoft-Activision Blizzard acquisition continues to shake up leadership at Xbox. Alan Hartman, former leader of Turn 10 has been promoted as the new head of Xbox Game Studios.
Hartman announced his promotion on LinkedIn overnight Tuesday, and Twitter/X user Idle Sloth spotted the post on Wednesday afternoon.
"Thrilled to be representing such an elite set of game creators in my new role leading Xbox Game Studios!" Hartman wrote.
Hartman had been the head of Turn 10 since 2005, and spent the last two years as corporate vice president of Forza and Fable. During his time at the studio, he oversaw the release of games in the Forza series and the development of the ForzaTech engine, with Turn 10 shares with Forza Horizon developer...
Dead by Daylight launched in 2016 with a cast of original killers and survivors inspired by the horror archetypes of the 80s golden age of slasher cinema. As the game quickly grew in popularity, developer Behaviour kick-started an ambitious plan to see if they could bring together horror’s most iconic villains under its umbrella, almost like what Fortnite did for pop culture, but specifically for horror.
We spoke to the creative minds behind Dead by Daylight to understand the challenges and journey it took for some of the most iconic crossovers in the game, from Ghost Face to Alien’s Xenomorph, check below to see how some of your favorite horror icons made it into Dead by Daylight.
In the Beginning
Behaviour didn’t begin Dead by...
After wave after wave of mass layoffs impacted almost every major games company in the last several months, the Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick says he feels confident that the publisher is on the other side of what's been a highly fraught year for the industry.
Speaking to IGN alongside its quarterly financials, Zelnick says that its cost-cutting measures undertaken earlier this year exceeded the publisher's targets, and that "we feel good about how we're structured now."
Notably, some of that cost-cutting includes the layoffs at the Private Division label and other company divisions made back in March, though specific numbers were neither given nor reported. However, Zelnick claims that Take-Two has weathered the worst of...
2023 is being touted as one of the greatest years in gaming. With major releases like Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Spider-Man 2, and Starfield coming from the big three publishers, plus plenty of third-party hits, there are more great games this year than we know what to do with. Meanwhile, there have been close to over 6,000 layoffs across the games industry in the same time, impacting companies like Bungie, Epic Games, and more. But the primary reason for the huge number of redundancies isn’t because of something that happened in the last 12 months, but a trend that’s steadily grown for the past two years.
In 2021 the biggest video game announcement wasn’t a new sequel or shiny new title, but instead Microsoft announcing its plans...
THQ Nordic has shared a lengthy gameplay trailer for Alone in the Dark ahead of its launch on January 16, 2024.
The nearly eight-minute Looking for Jeremy trailer, below, shows dual protagonists Edward Carnby (played by Stranger Things' David Harbour) and Emily Hartwood (played by Jodie Comer) arriving at the spooky Derceto Manor.
As the trailer title implies, the pair quickly get to finding Jeremy, and the gameplay cuts to Edward walking through creepy streets before encountering (and fleeing from) some enemies. Emily's journey doesn't go quite so smoothly, as following another cutscene, the trailer shows her almost immediately run into some baddies of her own that she's forced to blast away.
Players can choose to play through the...
343 Industries has finally released the Halo Combat Evolved Mark V armor for Halo Infinite, delighting fans of the series who want to get stuck in to multiplayer drenched in nostalgia — but it’s already sparked a vociferous debate about microtransaction cost.
Infinite’s Mjolnir Mark V kit is a recreation of Master Chief’s iconic armor from Bungie’s seminal 2001 Xbox shooter Halo Combat Evolved. It arrives exclusively within a bundle priced 2,200 Credits, or $19.99 / £15.99. As well as the Mark V kit, the bundle includes the Viridescent Ring armor coating, the Cinder Ring armor coating, and the Aurum Evolved visor.
It’s fair to say the Mark V armor is the most-wanted cosmetic among Infinite players, and it seems to be selling well...
Weappy, the developers of This Is the Police, have announced Hollywood Animal, a new strategy game in which you run a Hollywood movie studio in the 1920's. But it's not just any humdrum point-and-click sim; this Roaring '20s movie-industry game, which is in development for PC and due out next year, sounds like it's willing to get dirty.
What do we mean by that? The developers describe your activities in Hollywood Animal as such: "Make your moves behind the scenes, form unexpected alliances, lie and betray." Sure, you'll manage budgets, hire actors and directors, and deal with plenty of the deep-strategy minutae that fans of the genre crave, but it also sounds like you'll be able to go to great not-so-legal lengths to make sure that...
The James Bond rights holders weren't interested in making another video game until Hitman developer IO Interactive pitched Project 007.
As reported by GamesRadar, IO Interactive co-owners Hakan Abrak and Christian Elverdam told Edge Magazine they had a hard time convincing the James Bond owners to let them make a game in that universe, with poorly received recent releases perhaps putting them off.
"Our impression was clearly that [at the time] they were not looking for a game," said Abrak. "And I think it's fair that they might not have been super happy with some of the later games."
There hasn't been a James Bond release in a while, but the latest two were 2010's 007: Blood Stone (which IGN said was mediocre) and 2012's 007...
Deus Ex voice actor Elias Toufexis was initially cast to voice the male protagonist in Bethesda's latest sci-fi RPG Starfield, before the developer decided to follow in the footsteps of previous title like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim to go with a silent protagonist.
“Yeah it’s true,” said Toufexis in a post on X. "@cissyspeaks [Cissy Jones] and I were originally the player voices in Starfield. We worked for months. When they decided the player should be voiceless they gave Cissy and me Andreja and Sam Coe.”
The voice actor went on to praise the developer for keeping keeping himself and Jones on to voice prominent companions after making the decision to go with a voiceless protagonist. “Games NEVER do this,” said Toufexis. "Once...
Dead by Daylight's latest chapter update brings Chucky, the doll-turned-serial-killer star of the Child's Play slasher-movie franchise, into the world of the popular asymmetrical multiplayer game as a Killer. He will be available on November 28.
Developer Behaviour Interactive notes that Chucky’s original voice actor, Brad Dourif, reprises his role. They also add: "Players can further customize the new Killer with the Good Gal outfit, inspired by Tiffany Valentine (aka the Bride of Chucky), which is voiced by Jennifer Tilly." Check out the announcement trailer above and the first screenshots of Chucky in Dead by Daylight (along with a render of Bride of Chucky) in the image gallery below.
As you'd expect, Chucky is adept at sneaking...

IGN Plus Monthly Game: The Talos Principle
The Talos Principle (check out the review) is a fantastically written, well-crafted puzzle game with a healthy side of philosophy. They are like nothing else and, if you ask me (and our reviewer), the sequel is even better. If you want to jump in and simply enjoy it as a puzzle game...
Earlier today, BioWare revealed a new 30 second trailer for Mass Effect 5 on the occasion of N7 Day, leading fans to once again don their detective hats as they comb the new footage for fresh info.
The biggest revelation is that the long-awaited sequel will indeed tie into Mass Effect: Andromeda in some way. There had been questions about whether BioWare would quietly drop any references to its ill-fated spin-off, but it seems like it's still fully part of the canon.
Fan speculation that Mass Effect 5 would incorporate Andromeda somehow was seemingly confirmed by the following code.
The subsequent reveal of the OCULON-2819-DEFIANCE code appears to be another nod to Andromeda, and implies that Mass Effect 5 will be set long...
After failing to disclose accessibility information and provide suitable accessible features and design practices in one of this year’s biggest games, Xbox’s positive messaging surrounding their commitment to accessibility is once again being questioned by disabled players. Xbox recently announced that third-party accessories and controllers will no longer be compatible with systems after an upcoming update. For many disabled Xbox gamers, this decision will ultimately impact their capability to play.
According to a story first reported by Windows Central, Microsoft is banning the use of select third-party devices on all Xbox consoles beginning November 12. After sharing a list of approved pieces of tech on their website, many disabled...
Lords of the Fallen is getting more free content as developer Hexworks and publisher CI Games have revealed a roadmap of incoming updates.
Following the success of its Halloween-themed Season of the Bleak event, Hexworks confirmed it will release two similar updates containing fresh content by the end of 2023. It didn't offer a release window for these events, nor what they would be centred around, but as the previous one was Halloween-focused, the follow-ups will perhaps be themed around another holiday like Christmas.
The roadmap, which can be seen below, shows fairly clearly what the other content drops will be. Players can expect multiple new questlines to be added by the end of 2023, alongside unique armour sets and weapons, 12...
Ubisoft has laid off 124 individuals today in an effort "to streamline our operations and enhance our collective efficiency," according to the company.
In a release this morning, Ubisoft confirmed that it was reorganizing its Canadian studios in a move that was impacting a total of 124 positions total, 98 of which were based in Canada - roughly 2% of its Canadian workforce. Per Ubisoft, those laid off came from the business administrative services and IT teams, both across the Hybride VFX studio in Montreal and the global IT team.
"These are not decisions taken lightly and we are providing comprehensive support for our colleagues who will be leaving Ubisoft during this transition," the company said. "We also want to share our utmost...
Content Warning: The following article contains mentions of themes some readers may find distressing, including those of self-harm and suicide.
Konami's unannounced but all-but-confirmed Silent Hill game, The Short Message, has leaked once again after the Australian ratings board revealed a synopsis.
As reported by Eurogamer, the Australian Classification Board's annual report reveals some of the central themes and story details of The Short Message despite Konami not having revealed it yet. The game was initially leaked by South Korea's ratings board in September 2022.
The Short Message is "an exploration-based psychological horror game in which players control characters in an apartment building called The Villa in modern-day...
Apple fans who enjoy Resident Evil will be happy to know that Resident Evil 4 Remake arrives on Apple devices next month.
Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil 4 Remake will be available on iPhone 15 Pro, in addition to iPads and Mac computers that feature Apple Silicon, such as the M3 chip. As previously confirmed, Resident Evil 4 Remake on Apple devices costs $60.
While $60 might seem steep, particularly if you are buying Resident Evil 4 Remake to play exclusively on your iPhone 15 Pro, Capcom previously confirmed that Resident Evil 4 Remake supports universal purchase. This means that if you buy the game for the iPhone 15 Pro but also own an Apple Silicon-equipped iPad and/or Mac, you can play across all three of those devices...
Ubisoft has rolled out update 1.0.5 for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which aims to increase stability across platforms, while finally granting players the ability to toggle off the game’s controversial chromatic aberration graphical feature.
Patch 1.0.5 is set to drop on November 7 at 7am ET, and will have a file size ranging between 3.5GB to 5.8GB depending on the platform, with the largest update file targeting the PlayStation 4 version of the game. One of the biggest changes coming with the update is the ability to turn off chromatic aberration, a graphical option that adds distortion to a scene in order to simulate the real-world effect you get when shooting with a slightly out of focus camera lens.
Last month, Ubisoft announced it...
It’s nothing short of a miracle that a sequel as well-made as Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 managed to arrive just two years after the original. Developer Fair Play Labs’ second attempt at a Nickelodeon-based platform fighter is a massive leap forward from the first, with a more polished feel, more vibrant characters, and the coup de grace: its envelope-pushing Slime meter. It took me a minute to get comfortable with its slightly buffered movement and wildly expressive Slime mechanics, but after a handful of late nights with friends – both online and off – I couldn’t put it down. While comparisons to the Super Smash Bros. series can cast an obnoxious shadow over this genre, it’s not an exaggeration to say that the only other...
Poor Modern Warfare 3. No, not the new one. The original one, from 2011. It’s getting review-bombed by angry Call of Duty fans who seem a bit confused about which Call of Duty is which.
The backlash mostly stems from the early access launch of the new Modern Warfare 3’s single-player campaign, which has received a largely negative reaction online. IGN’s review scored it 4/10: “Underbaked, rehashed, and cobbled together from multiplayer parts, Modern Warfare 3’s single-player campaign is everything a Call of Duty story mode shouldn’t be.”
It doesn't help that Activision has decided to launch Modern Warfare 3 as a game tied to Call of Duty HQ, a new hub that appears to have replaced last year's Modern Warfare 2. This has resulted in...
