Scalpers can get in the bin, as Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree Collector's Edition is back in stock and on sale right now at trusted UK retailer The Game Collection. These are still incredibly popular, meaning this is extremely time-sensitive as they could sell out. but we couldn't just sit by and not shout about it. The Collector's Edition is down to £203.96 at the moment for PS5 and Xbox using code DAYLIGHT15. This is the best preorder deal in the UK right now, and over £26 off the list price of £229.99. This promo code is applicable across the whole of eBay, but preorders for one of the most anticipated DLC expansions of all time certainly caught our eye, especially as it's for the Collector's Edition. But, the DAYLIGHT15 code...
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Metal Gear Solid 3 and Metal Gear Solid 4. It’s been a long time coming but Metal Gear fans finally have something concrete to look forward to. Although series creator Hideo Kojima has moved on to other projects, his long-beloved stealth action franchise is making a grand return to the forefront of gaming with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Now that we have our first look at Delta’s gameplay from the new trailer shown at the Xbox Games Showcase, we’re even more excited to get our hands on it. But for now, we want to take a look back at the original Metal Gear Solid 3, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year on November 17th, 2004. Specifically, we’re going to talk about...
WIth over 50 party games split between developer Jackbox Games' 10 different Jackbox Party Packs, players have increasingly requested a more unified way to switch between their Jackbox games. If these games are in different packs, players often need to remember which pack a game is in, close their current pack, and launch the next one. Now, after years of player requests, Jackbox Games is finally developing a way to see all of its games in one place. Today in a post on its website, Jackbox Games announced the Jackbox Megapicker, a game library that lets players view, sort, and launch their games from different Party Packs in one location. "With over 50 games, more and more you are saying that it takes a lot of effort to switch...
Nostalgia is one of the most powerful, over-weaponized forces in the video game industry. But it also opens up avenues for cool takes on classic ideas. Hearkening back to PS2-era action platformers, Akimbot already seems like a great example of nostalgia done right. Full of homage to classics from that era like Ratchet and Clank, I had so much fun jumping, shooting, and air-dashing through an early version of Akimbot’s first level. As it turns out, action-platformers are French indie studio Evil Raptor’s bread and butter. 2021’s Pumpkin Jack was a cult hit among platforming fans when it hit back in 2020, and if my half-hour demo with Akimbot is any indication, it seems like it’s poised to scratch the same itch with a charming world...
After 12 years at the company, Warcraft general manager and SVP John Hight is departing the company for an unknown new endeavor. In a post on Twitter/X today, Hight announced his departure, thanking the community for its support: Hight joined Blizzard in 2011 as executive producer and VP on World of Warcraft, before being promoted to Warcraft GM in 2021. During his tenure, he oversaw the launches of Mists of Pandaria, Warlords of Draenor, Legion, Battle for Azeroth, Shadowlands, and Dragonflight. He also was involved in the releases of both Hearthstone and Warcraft Rumble, and the 2016 Warcraft film. Prior to his time at Blizzard, Hight held leadership roles at EA, Atari, and Sony working on God of War 3. We chatted with Hight...
Helldivers 2’s highly anticipated 01.000.4000 patch is finally here, bringing with it a mass of gameplay tweaks, balance updates, and fixes to the popular co-operative shooter, along with invite-only lobby creation, and a big change to the galactic map. Today’s update seed the introduction of a number of buffs for the game’s weaker stratagems in an attempt to increase their viability, including the Orbital Gatling Cannon, which is now capable of softening up heavily armored targets. Others were tweaked to make their performance more consistent, such as the Eagle 110mm rocket pod stratagem. The update also makes the supply lines that connect worlds visible on the galactic map, allowing players to see where an invading faction is...
Elden Ring has sold 25 million units ahead of its expansion Shadow of the Erdtree launching on June 21, 2024, developer FromSoftware has announced. In a post on X/Twitter, the colossal 25 million units sold milestone was revealed alongside a thank you to fans who have purchased the game. Elden Ring publisher Bandai Namco announced the game crossed 23 million units sold in March 2024, meaning it's grown another two million in less than three months. This all comes ahead of what will likely be another sales boost for the game too when its only expansion Shadow of the Erdtree launches. The downloadable content is set to add a wealth of new content to the beloved role-playing game. Just like previous FromSoftware games Dark Souls and...
This could be a one-sentence preview, really. I got to play a solid dozen matches (against the CPU) of Battle Mode, one of a few different modes in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, the upcoming fighting game built around DBZ’s most famous and recognizable heroes and villains. Here’s the key sentence: it absolutely feels like getting to play a battle from the legendary anime. That is both the most obvious thing I can say about it and the exact sentence I imagine that most DBZ fans want to hear. After choosing your fighter – and there are dozens of variations of well-known characters here – you choose one of over half a dozen stages to battle on, study up on your special moves, and then enter the arena. And once you get there, you’d be...
Welcome to a Thursday thick with thoroughly great deals. PC gamers should check out the remnants of the Xbox Showcase Sale before they're all goneski. Console folk should look into some pretty awesome preorder prices for Astrobot, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and more! In retro news, I'm celebrating the 12th birthday of Lollipop Chainsaw, a Suda51 cult-hit. Admittedly, it didn't garner much in the way of high scores, but I still recall it being the best game about a zombie-slaying cheerleader armed with a portable power tool and the disembodied head of her boyfriend... I've ever played. Had a whole buncha rock solid references to horror flicks and IRL musicians, too. Would yank the starter cord for another play of it again. This Day in...

Earlier this week, I had the chance to go hands-on with LEGO Horizon Adventures. Alongside all my other praise for this game, I really loved the immense level of detail put into making each and every LEGO brick component. That’s not a coincidence, either, as it turns out the entire world is made out of individual bricks in a way that could apparently be reconstructed in real life from actual physical LEGO sets. Speaking to me at Summer Game Fest Play Days over the weekend, Guerrilla Games narrative director James Windeler told me about how this strange collaboration between Guerrilla and LEGO came about. Guerrilla had originally prototyped Horizon: Zero Dawn’s robot dinosaurs in DUPLO and had a lot of interest in model building. The...
God of War Ragnarok is officially coming to PC on September 19, and if you're looking to play the game on release day, this is the best deal available. God of War Ragnarok is down to $49.79 via Fanatical using code FANATICAL17. The trusted Steam code seller has slashed the price of the upcoming release, with over $10 off the list price of $59.99. This is one of the best PC gaming deals right now, and well worth considering. God of War: Ragnarok continues the stories of Kratos and his now teenage son, Atreus. The sequel was praised as an enthralling spectacle on its release, earning a 10 in IGN's review. "Impeccable writing, pitch-perfect performances, knockout action – it’s a complete work of art from top to bottom. Reflecting its...
The very pitch of a LEGO Horizon game was always bound to be delightful. LEGO games have been historically well-regarded for their self-referential humor and family-friendly gameplay, and Horizon: Zero Dawn was a game of the year contender when it came out in 2017. With LEGO Horizon Adventures, it’s like someone at Guerrilla called everyone from Zero Dawn into the room, pointed at the game, said, “Hey, let’s do a silly one.” And then, when everyone agreed to this ridiculous idea, they proceeded to treat that silly one with the same level of craft and care with which they treated the other Horizon games. LEGO in video game form has never looked so gorgeous, or felt so satisfying to tear apart. Aloy kicks up little footprints of LEGO...
Even with the handful of Monster Hunter Wilds trailers released so far, there’s still a lot we don’t know about. Over the weekend, I was lucky enough to watch a 30-minute Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay demo and talk with three veteran developers of the Monster Hunter series: art director and executive director Kaname Fujioka; series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto; and director Yuya Tokuda. In the interview, we discussed how they’re taking full advantage of the new high-spec technology available to them now to further their goal of creating an immersive, living ecosystem, some of the new changes players can expect, a bit about the smithy Gemma’s popularity, how Palicos have voiceover now, and more. Check out the full interview below, and...
If Monster Hunter World was the first huge, noticeable evolution of the long-running series, Wilds is shaping up to be a clear, exciting progression that takes many of World’s surprising change-ups a step further. Where World disposed of individual zones in each region, Wilds removes loading screens between each region and its home-base town, now located right on the map itself; where World allowed you to eat and change equipment at camp, Wilds additionally lets you pop up a portable tent; and where World introduced voiceovers to its human companions, Wilds gives voices to the Felyne Palicos. I learned all of this and more in a closed-door, hands-off demo and interview with the Monster Hunter Wilds developers at Summer Game Fest. As...

We’re fast approaching the sixth year of Fallout 76 and although the popular action RPG has received dozens of additions so far, it could be argued that the upcoming Skyline Valley update will be the most impactful of them all, at least from what I’ve seen of it so far. From the first-of-its-kind map expansion to the ability to finally play as a Ghoul in 2025, here’s six exciting updates coming soon for all you vault dwellers to enjoy. Appalachia is Getting Bigger Fallout 76 has previously expanded its scope with new locations like 2022’s The Pitt Expedition and last year’s trip to Atlantic City. But unlike Expeditions, which take you to entirely different locations, Skyline Valley’s more seamless map extension approach means this...
Elden Ring creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has said that using guides to beat FromSoftware titles is “a perfectly valid playstyle” in a new interview with PC Gamer, but that the Japanese studio has “room for improvement” if players who want to go in fresh can’t beat the game “organically”. "Of course players are going to consult guides, and there's going to be a wealth of information on the web and in their communities where they have access to the secrets and the strategies,” explained Miyazaki ahead of the release of Elden Ring’s one and only DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, later this month. “We expect that." Elden Ring’s open world map and legacy dungeons are packed full of easy-to-miss collectibles and brutally difficult bosses that render...
Square Enix has announced that Visions of Mana, the latest in the long-running Mana series, will be released later this summer. Revealed as part of a new trailer, Visions of Mana will arrive on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on August 29. Its launch will mark the first new Mana game in over 15 years, as well as the first time the Mana series will have appeared on an Xbox platform in its 30-year-plus history. (Just don't expect it on Game Pass, sorry.) Visions of Mana was first announced at The Game Awards in 2023 and then shown at Xbox's Developer Direct, where we got a look at the Pikul; a big, fluffy dog that you can ride around the world on. And in our hands-on preview, we said that it "paints an image of how...
Within hours of Xbox revealing Doom: The Dark Ages, a modder had added the upcoming game's seriously metal saw-toothed shield to the original Doom. Posting to X/Twitter, modder Craneo showcased a retro version of The Dark Ages' saw shield being used in the opening level of Doom 2 on PC. The mod replaces the original game's chainsaw with the new shieldsaw, but this isn't just a re-skin. In an effort to truly replicate what we saw in The Dark Ages' trailer, Craneo's modded saw not only cuts through enemies, but can also be thrown into distant foes and used to defend against damage. This work arrived in quicker than quick time: Craneo posted the video of the mod to X/Twitter barely 12 hours after the trailer for Doom: The Dark Ages had...
Lies of P is one of the more memorable Soulslike games in recent years, as well as a fascinating take on the classic novel The Adventures of Pinocchio. In other words, it's a perfect choice as the latest entry in Dark Horse's ever-growing lineup of video game-themed art books. IGN can exclusively reveal the cover art and first details for The Art of Lies of P. Check out the cover below: The Art of Lies of P is a hardcover book that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the game, featuring 224 pages of concept art and creator commentary from the employees at ROUND8 Studios. “When we decided to make an art book for Lies of P, we knew we wanted to create something that served as a thank you to our fans while giving a...
There certainly weren’t many flaws to shine a shaky flashlight beam on in Alan Wake II, but one thing I did lament in 2023’s excellent survival horror sequel was the total absence of Night Springs episodes on the in-game televisions. These quirky, Twilight Zone-inspired tales were a consistent joy to discover in Alan Wake’s original 2010 adventure, so to find them seemingly off the air as though they were the casualties of some sort of in-game writers’ strike was a touch disappointing. The good news is that the series has returned in a now fully-playable form thanks to the Alan Wake II: Night Springs DLC, which serves up three standalone stories that take us back to the small town of Bright Falls and beyond. They’re admittedly a little...
When Sonic Generations released over a decade ago, fans of the series around the world celebrated the blue blur’s most successful Sonic title in years – one that bridged the gap between classic Sonic and modern Sonic. Now, Sega is going back to one of their most critically acclaimed Sonic titles with a re-release of Sonic Generations that includes new content in the form of Shadow the Hedgehog levels. And much to my surprise, that new content is incredibly fun. The Summer Games Fest demo for Sonic + Shadow Generations separates the two Sonic levels from Shadow’s newly-built content. For Sonic, the two courses available were Green Hill Zone as Classic Sonic and Green Hill Zone as Modern Sonic. To call these levels drastically...
Action game aficionados have been well-fed in the recent past with games like Stellar Blade and Sekiro, but based on a new hands-on gameplay demo at Summer Games Fest, it looks like Phantom Blade 0 will stand up with the leaders in the genre. Aside from a short tutorial, the demo does not take much time setting things up, preferring to leap right into the action. The main character, Soul, is given two main weapons to switch between at first: a pair of short swords and one longer katana. This switching mechanic does not just change playstyle and reach, but allows Soul to regain their stamina bar immediately to continue their combo and scratch away at the enemy lifebar. In addition to these offensive weapons, the protagonist is given...
Welcome to one of those mornings—where the deals are so good, I have to type a short intro, lest the bargains disappear by the time I publish. Personally, I'd equip my wallet for those insanely cheap controllers. You can never have too many (especially ones that look purtier than standard). Oh, and there's that new low for Starfield Constellation Edition...that I clearly should have waited longer for. In retro news, I'm celebrating the 16th birthday of Ninja Gaiden II. While the 2004 revival of Ninja Gaiden was lauded for being exceedingly hard, I remember this follow up was more largely known for being excessively gory. Death by dismemberment was all the rage, thanks to Obliteration Techniques that would put limb-reduced enemies into...
