It’s been two years since I traversed The Lands Between. Two years since I became Elden Lord. Two years since I beat a game that I now consider one of my top 10 favorite games of all time. And now, with Shadow of the Erdtree, I’m once again reminded why Elden Ring is a masterpiece, despite some accessibility flaws.
For this Access Designed, I’m going to talk about how Shadow of the Erdtree is nothing short of incredible – it’s more of the same game that left me in awe of its combat, open world, and inclusive design. Yet, despite following the same formula of vast landscapes dotted with optional, difficult content, nothing substantial is brought forth to increase FromSoftware’s latest title’s accessibility.

Ellie may be the human race's last, best hope in The Last of Us, but that's only if she survives the postapocalyptic wasteland long enough. Dark Horse is celebrating Ellie's dangerous side with a pair of new The Last of Us busts depicting the iconic gaming heroine.

Both of these busts measure 7.5 inches tall on a 3.5-inch base (adorned with plenty of cordyceps fungus, of course). One features Ellie wielding a handgun, while the other has her wielding her signature switchblade. Both versions were sculpted by Mat Brouillard with prototyping and paint by Substance Model Works.

The First Descendant developer Nexon has released update 1.0.4 across PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S alongside the patch notes, below.
The patch tweaks the popular ‘Valby run’ farming method. Set in The Fortress Outpost on hard mode, the Valby run involves destroying generators and damaging the boss enough to trigger its ball immune phase, then using the character Valby’s ability to deal continuous damage while moving around the outer ring of the arena in an endless loop. With the Valby run farming method, players were able to gain hundreds of thousands of in-game gold and loads of XP in just a few minutes.

Activision reportedly sold an “AI-generated cosmetic” for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in late 2023.
In a report from Wired on the impact of generative AI on the video game development industry and concern among many within it about the threat to their livelihoods, it is alleged that Activision “made an AI-generated cosmetic available for purchase on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 store.”
The cosmetic in question is not named in the article, but it is linked to: the Yokai’s Wrath bundle released in December 2023. The store did not disclose any use of generative AI for this bundle.

The Ubisoft development team working on Assassin’s Creed Shadows has posted a public message to Japanese fans on X/Twitter, which explains the project’s stance on historical authenticity and also apologises for promotional materials that “have caused concern” among the community.
