DICE Awards 2025 Winners: The Full List
The 28th D.I.C.E. Awards have arrived and have celebrated the best of the best in the world of video games from 2024. While there were a lot of winners across 23 categories, Astro Bot won the night by taking home Game of the Year alongside Outstanding Achievement in Animation, Outstanding Technical Achievement, Family Game of the Year, and Outstanding Achievement in Game Design. There were a lot of other games that won multiple categories, and Helldivers 2 came in second with four wins for Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition, Outstanding Achievement in Audio Design, Action Game of the Year, and Online Game of the Year. Balatro and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle both brought home three wins. In addition to...
PlayStation State of Play February 2025 Tier List
We just got our first PlayStation State of Play for 2025 with several big announcements from Metal Gear Solid Delta to a new game from developer Housemarque. While the best part of any new showcase is new game announcements, release dates, and trailers, we know some announcements are bigger than others. That’s why we’re giving you a chance to rank your favorite announcements from the recent PlayStation State of Play. Was it the first look at Saros? Or the new game from the lead designer of Grand Theft Auto? With over 20 announcements from yesterday’s showcase, look back at our Everything Announced post and decide which big reveal made the most impact on you. As for me, the Metal Gear Solid Delta release date was probably my most...
Ubisoft Insists Assassin's Creed Shadows Preorders are 'Tracking Solidly,' In Line With Odyssey
Ubisoft has insisted that its upcoming open world adventure Assassin's Creed Shadows has a strong number of preorders despite its troubled development and promotional period. The struggling publisher said in its latest financial report that "preorders for the game are tracking solidly, in line with those of Assassin's Creed Odyssey, the second most successful entry of the franchise." Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot maintained this confidence, saying the company is currently "fully focused on the upcoming launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows on March 20. "Early previews have been positive, praising its narrative and immersive experience, with both characters playing critical roles in the game’s storyline, as well as the quality and...
Split Fiction: The Final Preview
In an era of live services, MMOs, and generally disconnected online experiences, the idea of local multiplayer is quickly becoming a rarity. And while we have seen a handful of great couch co-op experiences pop up here and there, such as TMNT Shredders Revenge, Overcooked, and Hazelight Studios’ very own It Takes Two, I can’t think of anything I’ve played recently that resonated with me quite like Split Fiction. From its plethora of varying gameplay types, such as a twin-stick shooter, a pinball inspired puzzle platformer, and in one instance, a hot dog simulator, to its dazzling graphics and believable character dialogue, Split Fiction is looking to not only be another standout title in a year full of promising releases, but something...
Some Overwatch Fans Are Thrilled Loot Boxes Are Coming Back, Some Not So Much
Blizzard Entertainment laid out the roadmap for Overwatch 2's coming months yesterday, confirming a massive overhaul of the hero shooter. There was a lot to dig into, from perks and the incoming Stadium mode to plenty of cosmetics, but one notable piece of Overwatch history also returned: loot boxes. Loot boxes are returning to Overwatch 2 with Season 15, and it's spurred some interesting discussion around whether that's a good thing or not. For those unfamiliar, these boxes are drops you can accrue over time, which will randomly spit out an Overwatch cosmetic at random once you open them. Loot boxes were a core part of Overwatch 1's original monetization model and methods for doling out cosmetics, especially for those who would...
OMEGA 6 Manga Coming to US in October 2025
If you have a soft spot for retro-style games, you might already be keeping an eye on Takaya Imamura's upcoming adventure game OMEGA 6: The Triangle Stars. That game is based on a manga series created by the former Nintendo art director, and now Dark Horse is bringing that manga to the US for the first time. Check out the cover art to OMEGA 6 below: OMEGA 6 is written and illustrated by Imamura, with an English translation by Zack Davisson (H.P. Lovecraft's The Colour Out of Space). Here's Dark Horse's official description of the book: After awakening from a rejuvenating months-long stasis, androids Thunder and Kyla are ready to spring back into bounty-hunting action! With the aid of some peculiar magic fruits, the pair enter a...
HBO Working on Another Game of Thrones Spin-Off Based on the Targaryen Line
HBO is still working on several more Game of Thrones spin-offs including one "very promising" show focused on the Targaryen line, though nothing has been greenlit as of yet. Francesca Orsi, head of drama series and films at HBO, suggested to Deadline that, despite both current Game of Thrones spin-offs — House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms — focusing on Daenerys Targaryen's ancestors, the next furthest along show is too. "We have other spin-offs that we're working on right now, one of which — which I won't get into — is very promising, and is still the Targaryen line," Orsi said. "There's a number of other spin-offs. We can't really guarantee what's going to go forward, but we are very big budget on the other ones."...
Avowed Review
On the heels of an insect-filled survival game and a 2D detective story straight out of the 16th century that were pleasantly surprising departures from what developer Obsidian does best, Avowed is a return to that traditional action RPG comfort food we know and love. Set in the fantasy universe of Pillars of Eternity, this is a game that’s filled with all my favorite RPG cliches, like standing around a campfire with my party members to exchange dark backstories and unresolved traumas, and looting every single slain enemy before their corpse has even begun to cool. Per Obsidian’s pedigree, the writing, world-building, and open-world maps are all quite good, and running around lobbing deadly spells at reanimated skeletons and violent...
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds: The First Preview
Let's get the comparisons out of the way first; Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds feels closer to the Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed era of games as opposed to the more recent Team Sonic Racing, but has taken advantage of the enhancements that Team Sonic Racing brought to the table. While I've enjoyed both formats, the three-character mechanic of building a team to work together to coordinate racing and drift lines is gone. Instead, CrossWorlds goes back to Mario Kart’s everyone-for-themselves format. Like Mario Kart, it shares some similarities, from the items on the courses to the various shortcuts and cart customization. However, while it shares some DNA, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds evolves beyond what we've gotten from its now...
The 25 Best FromSoftware Bosses
FromSoftware has become a leading developer of action RPGs, crafting a number of unforgettable journeys into grimdark lands filled with horrors and wonder in equal measure. But, despite its unrivaled approach to level and lore design, FromSoft’s lasting legacy will likely always be its bosses: deeply challenging, typically horrific foes that push your skills to the very limits. For its next game, Elden Ring Nightreign, FromSoftware is going all-in on the bosses. This roguelike-ish co-op game is fully combat focused, with each of Nightreign’s runs pitting players against an increasingly difficult set of bosses. And, as the first trailer revealed, some of those bosses are returning foes from the Dark Souls series, including the majestic...
Civilization 7 Dev Firaxis Says 'There's Hope for Gandhi, Yet'
Civilization 7 is out in the wild, and veteran fans of the strategy series might be left wondering: where’s Gandhi? Indian leader Gandhi has been in every Civilization base game since the franchise’s first release in 1991. He is inexorably linked with Civilization, and spawned one of gaming’s most infamous bugs: Civilization's ‘Nuclear Gandhi’ — a bug that turned out to be a myth. But Gandhi is nowhere to be seen in Civilization 7. So what gives? That’s a question I put to Civilization 7 lead designer Ed Beach, who gave Gandhi fans a clear ray of hope that eventually he’ll make it in as DLC. “So I would say we haven't forgotten about anybody who's been in our game before,” Beach said. “Certainly civilizations, there's a lot of...
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Does the Business for Embracer as It Nears 2 Million Copies Sold
Embracer has hailed the success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, confirming it is near the 2 million sold mark. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 sold 1 million copies just a day after launch, and has now nearly doubled that figure 10 days later. It's an incredible sales success for developer Warhorse Studios' medieval Europe action role playing game sequel, which launched on February 4 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. Embracer said Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 did particularly well on Steam, where it saw over 250,000 peak concurrent players. For context, the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance hit a peak Steam concurrent player count of 96,069 seven years ago. It’s worth noting that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s actual peak...
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Demo Available Today
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is releasing a free demo for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii today on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam. The studio announced the demo on X/Twitter, saying it will be available to download at 7am Pacific / 10am Eastern / 3pm UK. The full game will be available February 21 also on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but these platforms will not get the free demo. RGG Studio didn't say explicitly if progress from the demo will carry on to the full Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii but, based on its contents, that doesn't appear to be the case. The demo appears to let players essentially skip forward to certain freeroam and battle areas and therefore doesn't follow the natural story. Players can "freely...
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Xbox Players Will Take on a Familiar Character in Snake vs. Monkey Minigame
Konami finally confirmed yesterday that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will release on August 28, 2025, with the new teaser trailer also revealing the Snake vs. Monkey minigame is similarly making a comeback. Snake won't take on Pipo Monkeys in all editions of the game, however. While the teaser shown during yesterday's Sony's State of Play 2025 gave fans a glimpse of an Ape Escape monkey in the jungle wilds of Snake Eater on PlayStation 5 and PC, fitting neatly with the PS2 original, Xbox Series X and S players will take on a different threat. Although we've yet to see any in-game footage, Konami's Xbox teaser, below, closes not with Snake vs. Monkey but Snake vs Bomberman. Yes. Really. The original mode unlocked two items for...
Boss of GTA 6 and Borderlands 4 Owner Take-Two Says It Will Time Its Releases ‘To Respect the Consumer's Need to Spend a Lot of Time Playing These Hit
Borderlands 4 now has a firm September 23, 2025 release date, as confirmed during Sony’s State of Play 2025 broadcast. But where does that leave Grand Theft Auto 6? Last week, Rockstar parent company Take-Two reiterated GTA 6’s fall 2025 release window, but now we know Borderlands 4 is out in September, there’s no chance GTA 6 will be out the same month. So when? October? November? December 2025? All seem up for grabs now for GTA 6. The risk of course is that Take-Two ends up cannibalizing its big 2025 games by releasing them too close together. And let’s not forget Mafia: The Old Country launches at some point summer 2025. Could Take-Two’s big games, and by that we really mean GTA 6, end up doing more harm to each other than good...

Souls-like Lies of P is getting a prequel called Overture. Announced during Sony’s State of Play 2025 broadcast, the Lies of P: Overture DLC expansion launches summer 2025 across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The gameplay trailer is below. Lies of P is a well-received single-player action RPG that reimagines the classic fairy tale of Pinocchio in Bloodborne-style gameplay. IGN’s Lies of P review returned an 8/10. We said: “Lies of P might not branch out particularly far from its soulslike inspiration, but it plays the part extremely well.” Lies of P: Overture takes players “back to the beginning of the Puppet Frenzy” and reveals the events leading up to the main game. The gameplay trailer features new environments, new bosses, and...

In a new trailer for MindsEye, we got a look at this high-tech spy thriller that has more than a few passing similarities to Grand Theft Auto. There's third-person gunplay, high-end cinematics, and drive and gun shooting. You can check it out in the cinematic trailer below. According to an official press release, MindsEye follows Jacob Diaz who is equipped with a neural implant called the MindsEye. However, this implant has affected his memory, giving him disjointed flashbacks of his time in the army. He then...

As expected, the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater release date was confirmed during Sony’s State of Play 2025 broadcast alongside a new trailer. The August 28, 2025 release date leaked last week via the PlayStation Store, which also made a new trailer available. Both were confirmed officially during State of Play. An Ape Escape collaboration was also teased, followed by a message that reads “And More,” which seemingly alludes to further crossovers coming to the game. Beyond a new first-person perspective, Metal Gear Solid...
