Double Fine Productions has made heavy metal video game Brütal Legend free for 666 minutes only to honor heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, who died this week aged 76.
The Black Sabbath frontman passed away on July 22 just a few weeks after he performed at the Back to the Beginning farewell concert.
Osbourne voiced the character The Guardian of Metal in Brütal Legend. The character's appearance and personality was based on Osbourne himself.
In a post on social media, the Microsoft-owned Double Fine said it had made Brütal Legend free on Itch.io. “But this incredible deal will only last for 666 minutes, as the prophecy foretold,” the studio continued. “So get yourself clicking, before it disappears like a demon in the night…”

I’ve spent serious seat time with Moza’s FSR2, a top-shelf, direct drive wheel that’s dripping in carbon fibre credibility and is clearly designed for open-wheelin’ diehards like myself. This serious sim-head solution is decked out with a huge 4.3-inch digital dash, tactile controls, and it’s built to deliver precise, hand-shaking force feedback on Moza’s higher-end wheelbases. (In my case, the beastly R12.)
While the FSR2 doesn’t come bundled with a base or pedals, it slots in perfectly atop Moza’s existing ecosystem for those already running hardware like the R12 or R16 bases. Essentially, if the entry-level R3 was your starter kart, the FSR2 is your Red Bull Racing rocket sled.

Magic: The Gathering's Final Fantasy Universes Beyond expansion was really, really, really popular. It was the fastest-selling expansion in Magic: The Gathering history, per Hasbro. Its Secret Lair collaboration drops sold out in record time, and while stocks of the boosters, starter kits, and decks have improved, there was a period there where it was difficult to get your hands on anything Magic x Final Fantasy-related. The set's popularity even pushed a bunch of non-Final Fantasy cards to higher prices, just because of their excellent synergy with the set.

Xbox has announced that it will not be selling The Outer Worlds 2 - or any of its holiday games, for that matter - for $80 after all. Instead, it will be kept at $70.
An Xbox spokesperson shared the pricing changes with IGN today: “We’re focused on bringing players incredible worlds to explore, and will keep our full priced holiday releases, including The Outer Worlds 2, at $69.99 – in line with current market conditions.”
Refunds and reimbursements for those who have already pre-ordered the game for $80 will be available via whatever storefront or location the game was bought at. Julian LeFay, Bethesda's former chief engineer known among fans as the 'Father of The Elder Scrolls' series, has died aged 59.
It was announced last week that LeFay, now co-founder and technical producer at OnceLost Games, had stepped back from game development after a lengthy battle with cancer, in order to spend time with his family and loved ones.

In a video posted to Twitter/X, Gearbox Entertainment head Randy Pitchford announced the Nintendo Switch 2 date, after a bit of a teasing build-up:
Borderlands 4 has already had a launch date on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox: September 12, 2025, having been brought 11 days earlier from its previously-expected September 23 release. At the time, there was speculation that this was done to avoid the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6, but then GTA was delayed until next year. Gearbox has also already confirmed that Borderlands 4 will cost $70 at launch.

Assassin's Creed: Shadows might be coming to Nintendo Switch 2, and Ubisoft executives might have just confirmed it.
During today's quarterly earnings call, CEO Yves Guillemot and CFO Frederick Duguet combined their powers to provide a number of subtle and not-so-subtle hints and statements about Assassin's Creed: Shadows that, when combined, are hard to read any other way than confirmation we're getting a Switch 2 release of the game at some point this fiscal year.
First, Duguet mentioned that Ubisoft's line-up for the current fiscal year (ending at the end of March 2026) includes, among other things, "a couple of other titles" that will be "announced at a later stage."

On June 6, 2025, 1047 Games launched Splitgate 2. Now, less than two months later, the developer is about to “unlaunch” it. It's also taking Splitgate 1 offline, and laying off 45 employees.
Today, 1047 revealed its plans to temporarily wind down support on the game it just released so the studio can go heads-down on what it says will be a complete overhaul of Splitgate 2. The game will remain playable during this time, and will still receive its promised Chapter 3 update and some bug fixes, but other than that, Splitgate 2 as we know it is done.
…That is, until early 2026, when the studio promises it will return with “big, sweeping changes.”
While all this sounds pretty dire, it might not come as a surprise to Splitgate 2 players...
Ubisoft has announced "lower-than-expected" results for its latest financial quarter, and blamed the newly-relaunched Rainbow Six Siege X.
Assassin's Creed Shadows, meanwhile, has continued to perform "in line with expectations", and recently passed 5 million unique players. Ubisoft has to date not provided an exact sales figure for the game, which is also offered as part of its Ubisoft+ subscription service.
In a statement, Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot described the quarter as featuring "mixed results".
So what went wrong? Ubisoft has pinned the blame on "temporary but signficant disruptions" in player spending within Rainbow Six Siege X, its newly-relaunched shooter that it describes as having faced "technical pricing issues"...
Supermassive Games, developer of Until Dawn and the Dark Pictures Anthology horror series, has said it will lay off up to 36 staff in a fresh wave of redundancies.
In a statement published to the studio's social media this afternoon, Supermassive also confirmed a delay to its long-awaited sci-fi horror project Directive 8020, which will now arrive in "the first half of 2026".
Announcing the studio's job losses, Supermassive said it had been forced to adapt its team structure to "better align" with "a challenging and ever-evolving environment" in which to make games.
