Xbox Games Showcase Announced for June

Microsoft has announced its E3-esque Xbox Games Showcase for June 9, 2024, with announcements from Xbox Game Studios, Activision Blizzard, and Bethesda all promised.

Revealed on Xbox Wire, the showcase will take place at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK though Microsoft didn't say how long it would last. It did share a "Redacted" teaser image for what appears to be the next Call of Duty, however, which will have a dedicated Direct immediately after the Xbox Games Showcase. 2024's Call of Duty game is reportedly Black Ops Gulf War, with Treyarch leading development.

Microsoft certainly appears confident in the content it's showing off in the additional Direct, comparing it to last year's Starfield Direct, which gave a deep dive into Bethesda's sci-fi role playing game which arrived in September.

We’re going to be talking about games of course

Call of Duty announcements usually take place in the summer, and Xbox promising Activision Blizzard announcements would line up perfectly. What's more, according to Call of Duty fan page CharlieIntel, the three wolf heads image featured in the announcement matches files found in 2023's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

"We’ll be airing a special deep dive into the next installment of a beloved franchise," Xbox said. "We can’t say much, so for now we’ll call it the Xbox Games Showcase followed by [REDACTED] Direct."

As for what might appear in the main showcase, Starfield's Shattered Space expansion, which was just revealed to arrive fall 2024, is a likely candidate. Xbox has Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, a highly anticipated Fable game, Rare adventure Everwild, and much more in development too. The likes of Gears of War and Perfect Dark have also been long dormant, so fans of those franchises will be hoping for an announcement at the showcase.
