Warhammer 40K: Darktide Comes to Xbox in October

Developer Fatshark has revealed the co-op grim dark shooter Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will finally be coming to Xbox Series X|S consoles on October 4, almost a year after its 2022 PC release.

As reported by PC Gamer, the Xbox console release will differ significantly from the heavily criticised PC launch version of the game, benefitting from a fleshed out skill tree along with a raft of other improvements.

The game was met with a wave of criticism from fans following its November 30 PC launch, with many complaining about the shooter’s unstable framerates, and seemingly incomplete gameplay mechanics.

The outcry prompted Fatshark’s CEO and co-founder Martin Wahlund to publish an open letter to fans apologising for the state of the game, which also revealed that the planned Xbox Series X|S launch would be delayed indefinitely while the company worked to address issues highlighted by the community.

According to Wahlund, the extra time would be spent remedying the performance issues that had plagued the game at launch, while also allowing for the implementation of a completed crafting system, and “a more rewarding progression loop”.

In our 2022 review we gave Warhammer 40,000: Darktide an 8/10, describing its “careful balancing act between multiple methods of murder” as “ceaselessly entertaining”, while also lamenting the performance issues and progression issues that worked to lessen the fun.
