Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2 Announced With Debut Trailer

Well-received turn-based tactical Warhammer 40,000 game Mechanicus is getting a sequel, announced at the Warhammer Skulls showcase alongside a debut trailer.

Mechanicus is a 2018 strategy game that revolves around the Adeptus Mechanicus, Warhammer 40,000’s popular Machine God-worshiping, technology-obsessed Imperium-aligned faction.

Publisher Kasedo Games and developer Bulwark Studios said Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2 lets you play as the Necrons, Warhammer 40,000’s deathless killer robot faction, or the Adeptus Mechanicus. Here’s the official blurb:

After millennia of slumber, Vargard Nefershah mobilises her dynasty’s legions to annihilate the Adeptus Mechanicus interlopers who unknowingly settled upon her world. Across the galaxy, Magos Dominus Faustinius is summoned to bring his hard-won expertise to bear and ensure the Necrons do not succeed. The conflict soon becomes a crucible of unanticipated significance, drawing to it external actors stranger and more deadly still.

Both the Necrons and the Adeptus Mechanicus are fully playable over multiple campaigns, Kasedo said. You manage your territories’ garrisons and assemble forces for each mission, choosing from an expanded selection of fighters from each faction’s range. New environmental mechanics require players to maneuver their forces, taking cover behind terrain as the Mechanicus, or destroying it as the Necrons (the Necrons have no need for cover, after all).

The story is penned by Black Library author Ben Counter, with music and audio design by composer Guillaume David. Narrative events will see the player choosing the course of the war and its outcome, Kasedo added.

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2 is coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. No release window was mentioned.
