Until Dawn Announced for PS5 and PC Alongside a Release Window - State of Play 2024

Following a report published last week, PlayStation has officially confirmed that Until Dawn is coming to PS5 and PC.

Announced during the PlayStation State of Play, the PS5 version of Until Dawn will arrive on PC and PS5 sometime this year. As common with remasters, the forthcoming ports will include graphical and performance improvements, with developer Ballistic Moon tasked with enhancing the game for modern platforms.

Originally released on the PS4 in 2015, Until Dawn is a choose-your-own-adventure video game developed by Supermassive Games. While the studio is best known these days for making choice-filled horror games that are borderline interactive movies, such as The Dark Pictures Anthology, Until Dawn helped establish Supermassive Games as a developer known for these types of games.

"Until Dawn is a flawed, but fun experience. Though an unfocused story means it falls short of greatness, it’s an otherwise entertaining homage to the curious traditions of horror movies which pays off your in-game decisions with occasionally shocking consequences," we wrote in our review of Until Dawn.

Beyond the initial release in 2015, Until Dawn also spawned two additional games: an on-rails shooter called Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, released in 2016, and a prequel set 60 years before the events of Until Dawn, The Inpatient, released in 2017. Both of these games were made exclusively for the PlayStation VR headset.

While a sequel to Until Dawn was never made, in 2022, Supermassive released a spiritual successor called The Quarry. Until Dawn is also getting adapted for the big screens with the director behind Lights Out and Sahzam! attached to the project.
