Stardew Valley Creator Reveals New Content Coming With 1.6 Update

Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone, AKA Concerned Ape, has given fans a sneak peak at the content coming to the game in the highly anticipated 1.6 update, including a new farm type, fresh dialogue, and eight-player multiplayer support for PC.

According to Barone the 1.6 update will bring new Joja-related alternatives to late game quests, 100 lines of original dialogue, new secrets, and content that “expands on each of the skill areas”. The update will also introduce a new major festival and two mini festivals to the yearly calendar.

An entirely new farm type will also be dropping with the influx of new content, along with new items, crafting recipes and winter outfits, while PC players will also benefit from eight-player multiplayer support. The developer had stated the update will make the game “easier and more powerful to mod”.

Sadly, Barone stopped short of sharing a release date for the 1.6 update, which fans have been clamouring for ever since it was first announced back in April earlier this year. This kind of benevolent teasing is par for the course for Barone, who delights in sharing the occasional glimpse of his secretive work.

Last month the developer shared a single screenshot from his next title The Haunted Chocolatier, which led some fans to theorise that a beloved Stardew Valley character may be returning to feature in the game. A Stardew Valley cookbook is also slated for release sometime in spring 2024, which will allow fans to experience the canon tastes of over 100 dishes from the game, ranging from the Survival Burger to the Lucky Lunch, and even the Strange Bun.

In IGN’s 9.5/10 review we noted that “Stardew Valley is a beautiful, fun game that, when all of its parts are pulled together, makes for a wonderful countryside adventure”. Be sure to check out IGN’s comprehensive Wiki and guides to ensure that you get the most out of your time in Stardew Valley.
