Nintendo's latest Direct has arrived and brought with it some big updates for the Nintendo Switch. Alongside announcing the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership that will add N64 and SEGA Genesis games, Nintendo also unveiled Kirby and the Forgotten Land, the first gameplay trailer for Bayonetta 3, new Splatoon 3 gameplay, an expansion for Monster Hunter Rise, and so much more.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a 3D adorable adventure launching on Nintendo Switch in Spring 2022. This game features wide-open areas that Kirby can explore that are filled with enemies he can copy to acquire their abilities.
Nintendo Switch Online is getting a big update that will add both N64 and Sega Genesis games to its service with a new Expansion Pack membership. This update will arrive in October 2021 and Nintendo promises it will reveal more about pricing and an exact release date closer to its launch.
The launch lineup of N64 games includes Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64, Star Fox 64, Sin and Punishment, Dr. Mario 64, Mario Tennis 64, WinBack, and Yoshi's Story.
The launch lineup of SEGA Genesis games includes Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Streets of Rage 2, Ecco the Dolphin, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Contra Hard Corps, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Golden Axe, Gunstar Heroes, M.U.S.H.A., Phantasy Star IV, Ristar, Shining Force, Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master, Strider.
The service will also get more N64 games in the future like Banjo-Kazooie, Pokemon Snap, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Mario Golf, Paper Mario, and F-Zero X.
Alongside the announcement that N64 and SEGA Genesis games will be coming to Nintendo Switch Online, Nintendo also announced two new Switch controllers that are modeled after the controllers for these systems. Pricing and their release dates will be announced at another time.
Nearly four years after its reveal, we finally got a look at Bayonetta 3 gameplay and a release window of 2022. The stylish trailer showed off a ton of action that fans can expect from the game and a new ability that allows Bayonetta to control demons. The end of the trailer also showed a mysterious character who looked a bit like Vergil from Devil May Cry. Crossover, anyone?
While there was no update to the 2022 release window, Splatoon 3 did get a new gameplay trailer that showed off its "Return of the Mammalians" single-player campaign. We also got a look at the updated Turf War mode that will have new weapons and possibly traversal mechanics.
Capcom started off the show by announcing Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, a "massive expansion" coming to Monster Hunter Rise in Summer 2022. This new expansion will contain "newly added stories, locales and monsters, as well as newly added hunting actions and quest rank."
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's final DLC fighter will be announced during a special presentation on October 5, 2021, at 7am PT/10am ET/3pm BST. This will be the final "Mr. Sakurai Presents" and will bring to an end all the major updates to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Not only will Animal Crossing: New Horizons be getting its own Direct in October, but fan-favorite Brewster and The Roost coffee shop will also be coming to the game in the near future.
A new gameplay trailer was revealed for Mario Party Superstars that revealed new details about the game and some of the maps that will be playable when it launches on October 29, 2021. The new maps include classic boards from N64's Mario Party games like Woody Woods, Yoshi's Tropical Island, and Horror Land. There will also be a Mt. Minigames minigame mode that "includes the competitive Survival course and the cooperative multiplayer course Tag Match."
The Super Mario Bros. movie will be released in theaters in North America on December 21, 2022. Also, Chris Pratt will play Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy will play Peach, Charlie Day will play Luigi, Jack Black will play Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen will play Donkey Kong. Charles Martinet, who voices Mario in the games, will appear in the movie as well as special characters.
Following the news of its remake, Aspyr has announced that the original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic will be released on the Switch on November 11, 2021.
After many leaks and rumors, it was officially announced that Castlevania Advance Collection will be released later today. This collection features Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, and Castlevania: Dracula X. These games feature Rewind, Quick Save, and Button Mapping features alongside "a gallery mode with never-before-seen artwork."
Actraiser Renaissance is a remastered version of the classic SNES game that features both side-scrolling action and city-building. It was originally released in 1990 in Japan and this new version arrives today with "the much-loved original score and a rearranged soundtrack featuring new music. New stages and boss battles also await."
Square Enix's tactical RPG Project Triangle Strategy is now called Triangle Strategy and it will be released on March 4, 2022. The team has been "fine-tuning" the game ahead of its launch and the updates include "adjustments to difficulty, improvements to on-screen visuals like the UI, camera controls, the ability to review prior dialogue, and streamlined game flow and loading times."
Ahead of its October 8 release date, Metroid Dread got another story trailer that reveals a bit more about what fans can expect when they and Samus embark on her newest adventure next month.
The Nintendo Direct revealed that Yoko Taro's upcoming card-based RPG, Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars will be released on Switch on October 28. In this game, everything is represented as cards on a tabletop, including shops, characters, towns, and more.
Taro also brought along Nier series veterans like Yosuke Saito, Kimihiko Fujisaka, and Keiichi Okabe.
Dying Light 2 will arrive on Switch on February 4, 2022 as a Cloud version, and free demo will be available on the same day. On October 19, Dying Light: Platinum Edition will be released on Switch and will help prepare fans for the sequel and help with the wait.
Mario Golf will be getting new characters - Koopa Troopa and Ninji - and new courses later today.
Deltarune: Chapter 2 was released on PC/Mac last week, and now it arrives on Nintendo Switch later today!
Chocobo GP is a new racing game that will let players race as such Final Fantasy characters as Chocobo and Gilgamesh. When it launches in 2022 on Switch, it will arrive with local and online multiplayer and a tournament system that will allow up to 64 players to compete for the ultimate victory! There will also be powerups called Magicites that will surely cause chaos in the races.
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut, which we gave a 10/10, will be released on Nintendo Switch on October 12, 2021.
We received a new look at Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity's newest wave of Expansion Pass content which will be released on October 29, 2021. This new content includes a new duo character in Purah & Robbie, new stages like Coliseum and Kakariko Village, and new story sequences.
Disney Magical World 2: Enchanted Edition lets players hang out with classic Disney characters like Mickey Mouse while crafting items, exploring Disney worlds, and much more. This new game will arrive in Holiday 2021 and includes all the DLC from the original 3DS version.
2022 will see the release of the Shadowrun Trilogy on Nintendo Switch. These classic "cyberpunk-meets-fantasy" games - Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun Dragonfall - Director's Cut, and Shadowrun Hong Kong - Extended Edition - feature turn-based combat, branching narrative paths, and more.
Rune Factory 5 will be released on Nintendo Switch on March 22, 2022, and follows a hero who is able to farm, battle and tame monsters, go fishing, build relationships with other characters, and much more.
Both Pac-Man and Xevious will be playable on Nintendo Switch in this latest entry of the Arcade Archives series.
