Fortnite Update v29.40 Brings Star Wars to Battle Royale, Lego Fortnite, Fortnite Festival, and Rocket Racing

Star Wars returns to Fortnite on May 3, one day before the annual May 4 Star Wars celebrations.

Update v 29.40 adds Star Wars content to the entire Fortnite offering, including Battle Royale, Lego Fortnite, Fortnite Festival, and Rocket Racing.

Starting with Battle Royale, there’s a new Camp landmark to rescue Chewbacca, who supports players in battle using his iconic Bowcaster. You can also pick this weapon up from Imperial Chests at Stormtrooper roadblocks across the Island. Elsewhere, new reward quests and returning gameplay like the Darth Vader boss battle, Stormtrooper NPCs, and E-11 Blasters are available through to May 14.

Here's the official blurb on the Battle Royale Star Wars content, from Epic:

Millennium Falcon co-pilot Chewbacca has been captured and it’s up to you to rescue him! To save him from the claws of the Empire, you’ll need to head to a specific Imperial Roadblock. (The one he’s at changes each match!) Chewbacca will cheer after being liberated, then follow you into battle with his trusty Bowcaster.
Who says Wookiees should have all the fun? Chewbacca will hand you your own Wookiee Bowcaster as a thanks for rescuing him! You can also find one inside Imperial Chests at Imperial Roadblocks across the Island. With this weapon equipped, shoot individual quarrels quickly or charge up a heavier, explosive shot.
Darth Vader and the Stormtroopers will be returning to the BR Island in the Lambda Shuttle, which will touch down in one of three set landing zones each match. Defeat Vader in battle and you’ll be able to pick up his lightsaber. Use Darth Vader’s Lightsaber to block incoming fire and swing at enemies, and even throw it at your opponents!
With Stormtroopers come their E-11 Blasters. Grab these returning weapons from defeated Stormtroopers or from Imperial Chests at Vader’s landing sites.
Put your Bowcaster and Blaster skills to the test to complete Battle Royale’s Star Wars Quests! You’ll receive a Battle Pass Level Up for completing five of these Quests, and the AWR Pack Back Bling for completing 10.
Battle Royale’s Star Wars Quests will be released in two phases during the crossover: the first on May 3 at 9 AM ET and the second at 9 AM ET on May 7. The Star Wars bash in Battle Royale, including the Quests, will end May 14 at 9 AM ET!

Lego Fortnite, meanwhile, lets you build up a Rebel village and fight the Empire with Lightsabers, craft Star Wars items, and explore new themed points of interest. All this is available on a new island that will remain in your world even after v29.40 ends. Alongside this is the new Lego Pass, called Rebel Adventure. There are free and premium rewards, such as Builds and Decor from the Mos Eisley Set, including the Mos Eisley Cantina.

Here's the official word on the Star Wars content coming to Lego Fortnite:

The Empire and Rebels are coming to your LEGO Fortnite world... Side with the Rebels by building up the Rebel Village and using tools to keep the Empire at bay: Lightsabers, Bowcasters, DL-44 Blasters, E-11 Blasters, and Thermal Detonators!
Make progress in the LEGO Pass: Rebel Adventure as you help out the Rebellion. This Pass has unlockable rewards including Star Wars Builds and Decor, and the Chewbacca Outfit you’ll get just for upgrading to the Pass’ Premium Reward Track!

Fortnite Festival gets a stage inspired by Mos Eisley’s famous Cantina on May 3. You can complete Fortnite Festival’s Star Wars quests to unlock a Battle Pass Level Up Reward and the Seven String Hallikset Guitar.

Rocket Racing also gets Star Wars quests on May 3. This time, you can complete these quests to unlock a Battle Pass Level Up reward and the podracing-inspired Energy Binders trail. v29.40 will bring a separate set of Star Wars quests in Rocket Racing, which you can complete to earn Anakin’s Podracer Decal and the Darth Maul Decal.

And finally, new items will enter the shop, including the Dagobah Luke, Lando Calrissian, and the AWR Trooper outfits; the Beskar Car Body, which also grants the car for Rocket League players; the “Mad About Me” (a.k.a. “Cantina Band”) Jam Track; and more.
