Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.02 Coming Soon, Says CD Projekt

CD Projekt has revealed Cyberpunk 2077's Update 2.02 is "coming soon" and includes a handful of bug fixes and other challenges.

Revealed on CD Projekt Red's support website, the update will fix perhaps the two biggest issues left with the Phantom Liberty and Update 2.0 version of Cyberpunk 2077. The developer didn't share when Update 2.02 would be released, but its last update arrived one week after CD Projekt Red said it was "coming soon".

The first issue addressed in Update 2.02 is the fixing of skill progression passives, as some players were not gaining the passive buffs that came with upgrading each skill level. The other major gripe for players will soon be sorted too, as CD Projekt will rebalance the timers in courier missions.

As part of the Phantom Liberty expansion, players will occasionally find a car that needs to be driven out of the new Dog Town area to another part of Night City. The distances often don't match up with the time limit, however, and the mission will sometimes give players just 30 seconds to drive across the entire colossal map.

Here's everything else CD Projekt Red highlighted in Update 2.02, though these are only the "key fixes" and don't necessarily represent every change coming.

  • V will no longer flatline after entering the Delamain AV in Path of Glory.
  • Fixed the shutters blocking entry to Black Sapphire in Run This Town.
  • Fixed an issue where cyberware could get downgraded to Tier 1 after updating the game to 2.01.
  • Fixed skill progression passives.
  • Rebalanced the timers in courier missions.

Xbox Series players not receiving the Phantom Liberty preorder bonus of a Quadra Sport R-7 Vigilante is also still being investigated by CD Projekt and Microsoft, and a fix will arrive "as soon as possible".

Phantom Liberty arrived on September 26, with Update 2.0 laying its foundation a few days earlier. It completely revamped Cyberpunk 2077 with features such as a new perk system and improved AI and also brought closure to an Elon Musk fan theory, a reference to the late racing legend Ken Block, and bizarre additions to the game's biggest mystery.

CD Projekt even included a way for players to turn down the events of the paid expansion altogether, with certain dialogue options locking the missions away for good.

In our 9/10 review, IGN said: "Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty completes an immense turnaround for CD Projekt Red's future RPG kickstarted with the anime spin-off, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and its latest 2.0 Update."
