Battlefield 6 players aren't happy after EA and Battlefield Studios' changes to two of its most controversial cosmetics failed to live up to expectations. Following promises to address fan feedback last week, the Battlefield community was quick to see how update 1.1.3.6 adjusted the Objective Ace skin and Winter Warning sticker when the patch went live this morning. The problem is the changes are almost too small to notice. Let’s first take a look at Objective Ace. The skin drew criticism through Season 1 when players noticed it bore a striking resemblance to the Call of Duty: Ghosts logo, with both sharing even a few finer details, such as cracks and paint streaks. The Assault skin also caught flak related to the large white armor...
Last week, Google announced Project Genie, an AI-powered virtual world creator still in its infancy that seemed to spook a number of video game investors. Following the announcement, stock prices of companies such as Take-Two, Roblox, and Unity took a noticeable dip, seemingly due to a belief that Genie was going to mostly or fully replace user-generated content down the line. But at least one of those companies' CEOs isn't ruffled by the price drop: Take-Two's Strauss Zelnick. Speaking to IGN today ahead of the company's Q3 earnings call, Zelnick responded to my question about whether or not he saw Genie as a threat to Take-Two's business. He doesn't. Quite the contrary, he sound pretty positive. Here's his response in full: "This...
Star Wars Outlaws was one of the most anticipated games of 2024, but it didn't quite deliver the sales Ubisoft was expecting. In IGN's Star Wars Outlaws review, we called it "a fun intergalactic heist adventure with great exploration" despite overly simplified stealth and repetitive combat. As a game, it definitely wasn't one of the more successful ventures we've seen in the series. Like any Star Wars creation, however, it's clearly backed by the sprawling universe that is Star Wars lore. It may not have sold well as a AAA game, but there were a lot of good pieces within that were still able to take fans off to that galaxy far, far away. And now that a couple years have passed, we're actually getting a Star Wars prequel in the form of...
From portable gaming handhelds to smartphones, our lives rely on portable, untethered electronics, and it can't hurt to always have a charger on hand. Amazon is currently offering a Baseus Picogo 100W USB Type-C wall charger for just $21.99 after you apply coupon code "F7BPDQ7D". You don't need to be an Amazon Prime member to get this deal. This diminutive adapter can fast charge even the most power hungry handheld gaming PCs like the ROG Xbox Ally X. Baseus Picogo 100W USB-C Wall Charger for $21.99 The Baseus wall charger is tiny, measuring only 3.2" x 1.7" x 1.7" but it's still able to pack in three charging ports: two 100W USB Type-C and one 22.5W USB Type-A. Note that the maximum output for all three ports is 100W, so if you used...
Fresh from her appearance at the Grammys, Pink Pony Club singer Chappell Roan is hot to go in Fortnite this week. Roan is the latest music icon set to headline the game's Fortnite Festival mode, which will feature a redesigned main stage decorated like a medieval castle — inspired by her recent tour. Music Pass owners, including Fortnite Crew subscribers, will get the basic Chappell Roan outfit included, alongside themed instruments. But, as ever, there will be a snazzier, second skin available from the Fortnite Shop: the Roan of Arc outfit, inspired by her 2024 VMAs costume. Several of Roan's best-known songs are already available as Jam Tracks in Fortnite, including Good Luck, Babe!, Hot To Go and The Giver. The infamous Pink Pony...
Blizzard Entertainment is getting ready to showcase a sneak peek at “huge reveals” for Overwatch with a Spotlight event – and it’s all happening in less than 24 hours. Last week, the company announced plans to deliver updates for games like World of Warcraft, Diablo, and more directly to fans with a series of showcases throughout late January and early February, and all eyes are on the team behind its controversial hero shooter to see what the future holds. There are plenty of rumors going around regarding what will be shown during the February 4, 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET show, as players look forward to seeing what comes after Overwatch 2 Season 20: Vendetta. As of last week, however, there is one big question on everyone’s mind: Why...
The developer behind Dispatch — the superhero game that's censored on Nintendo Switch — has said it is "legally unable" to explain why it can't launch an unedited version of its game in specific regions — as CD Projekt Red did with Cyberpunk 2077. Dispatch maker AdHoc Studio previously referenced Cyberpunk 2077 by name when discussing the development of Dispatch's Switch edition, and said it had "initially assumed" its game would also be able to feature similarly "uncensored mature content." Instead, AdHoc continued, "during the porting process it became clear that was not the case." "This is the key point," AdHoc added. "Nintendo has content guidelines. Our game didn't meet those guidelines, so we made changes that would allow us to...
Our February IGN First "cover story" kicks off right now with Mouse: P.I. for Hire! Enjoy 12 minutes of exclusive gameplay from the upcoming rubberhose-animated first-person shooter starring Troy Baker as the titular rodent detective Jack Pepper. This gameplay is from Vaudeville, the second mission of the campaign and the first case Jack gets assigned. We'll have more exclusive coverage all February long as part of IGN First! Mouse: P.I. for Hire casts you as the aforementioned private investigator Jack Pepper, moving through its 1930s-era, hand-drawn, black-and-white cartoon world with an array of appropriately cartoony guns in hand to get the job done when talking just won't cut it. Watch the exclusive gameplay below, and check out...
Valentine's Day is just a couple of weeks away, and if you're looking for a fun gift idea that you can experience with your favorite person, a co-op game is always a great pick. Split Fiction is one worth considering - we called it an "expertly crafted co-op adventure" in our review, after all - but what's even better is the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 versions are currently on sale for $37.49 at Walmart. This deal saves you just over $10 compared to their list price. Save on Split Fiction (PS5 and Switch 2) I'm a big fan of Split Fiction, but I'm certainly not alone. To continue on from our review, IGN's Luke Reilly said it's "a rollercoaster of gameplay ideas and styles that are usually discarded as quickly as they’re introduced...
Veteran role-playing game maker Obsidian Entertainment has no plans to continue The Outer Worlds with a third game, the studio has confirmed. As part of a Bloomberg interview, Obsidian revealed that last year's The Outer Worlds 2 had underperformed, and a sequel is not in development. Avowed, the company's other blockbuster RPG released last year, also missed its targets — but Obsidian reportedly still has plans for more from its world of Eora, the same setting as Pillars of Eternity. On a more positive note, Grounded 2 — yet another 2025 launch — was a hit. But of the three, it had the shortest (and almost certainly the cheapest) development period by far. Grounded 2 took just over two years to meet its early access launch, compared...
Microsoft has announced the Xbox Game Pass February 2026 Wave 1 lineup, which includes big hitters such as High on Life 2, Madden NFL 26, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. As detailed in a post on Xbox Wire, available today, February 3, are Final Fantasy II (Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC) and Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii (Cloud, Console, Handheld, and PC), both across Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass. February 5 sees Madden NFL 26 (Cloud, Console, and PC) join Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and — something totally different — Paw Patrol Rescue Wheels: Championship (Cloud, Console, Handheld, and PC) on Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass. Moving on to February 10 and Relooted (Cloud, Xbox...
Capcom is one of the strongest third-party publishers on Switch 2 so far. It released an excellent port of Street Fighter 6 on the console’s launch day, and it’s keeping the momentum going in 2026 by bringing most of its big games to the platform, including Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, and Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection (with dedicated amiibo figures for all three games!). I went hands-on with Resident Evil and Pragmata on Switch 2 in both handheld and docked mode, and was extremely impressed with how these two slightly scaled down experiences are shaping up. As you’d reasonably expect, the Switch 2 versions clearly don’t have the same fidelity as their counterparts on PC or the other consoles, but if you only have a...
Epic launched its Epic Games Store back in 2018 in aggressive fashion, paying out millions of dollars to secure exclusives in a bid to steer PC gamers away from Valve’s all-encompassing Steam. Six years later, Steam effortlessly maintains its vice-like grip on the PC gamer consciousness. So, how is the Epic Games Store actually doing? How has its strategy changed over the years? Can it ever topple Valve when it comes to PC gaming market share? Are Epic Games Store exclusives actually dead? And aren’t people just logging on to grab a free game as part of Epic’s compelling giveaways, before heading straight back to Steam? It was with all this in mind that I interviewed Steve Allison, VP and GM of the Epic Games Store, about the store's...
Helldivers 2's latest patch, Into the Unjust: 6.0.1., is rolling out now, adding a playable tank and interchangeable victory poses and emotes as part of a push towards the liberation of the Cyborg homeworld, Cyberstan. "We have confirmed, with concrete proof and beyond any doubt, that the Automaton Collective stole our schematics for the Star of Peace. We cannot let them turn this defensive tool of peace into a destructive weapon of war," developer Arrowhead teased. "It's now up to you, our most elite and powerful force, to bring them to justice on their own turf. "We have approved the deployment of new equipment for squads to aid in the swift elimination of the Automaton threat. Push toward Cyberstan and end this insult to Managed...
Ubisoft is yet to formally announce its Tom Clancy's The Division: Definitive Edition, but you can now purchase it via the Xbox store. Unfortunately, however, its release has confirmed exactly what this new version of the game entails — and it's not the remake or remaster that some fans had expected. On Xbox at least, you can now pay $49.99 to own Ubisoft's 2016 extraction shooter and all of its add-on content, including the game's three expansions, season pass, and various DLC outfits. There does not appear to be any new content here — or any new versions of existing content, either. This has come as something of a surprise to fans who had spotted advertising for the game's Definitive Edition pop up last month alongside new...
This month, we're celebrating Stardew Valley ahead of its 10th anniversary, and have a ton of Stardew-related pieces as a part of that. But when we spoke to creator Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) ahead of that celebration, we couldn't help but also ask about his other game that's still in-development and mysterious: Haunted Chocolatier. Barone has been candid in the past that he's had trouble balancing work on both Stardew Valley's ongoing updates (with Patch 1.7 currently in progress) and Haunted Chocolatier. We started by asking him if that balance has changed recently and if he's had more Chocolatier-time in his schedule. The answer from Barone is, yes, sort of. "Well, part of the reason why I've expanded my team a little bit is so...
It's almost Stardew Valley's 10th birthday, which emans that for a decade players have combed over every inch of Pelican Town and the surrounding area, unearthing secrets, deciphering Dwarvish manuscripts, and putting Strange Buns in hidden boxes. But the game's creator, Eric Barone (ConcernedApe), says there's still one secret that fans have never found, though he hopes one day they do. We spoke to ConcernedApe for a big interview in honor of the game's 10th anniversary, and among the many topics we discussed was the question of in-game secrets. ConcernedApe has said in the past that there was still an outstanding secret, so we wanted to check in and see if that was still true. And, yup, it is, though maybe his cheeky teasing will...
Stardew Valley's upcoming 1.7 update will include, among other things, two brand new marriage candidates, IGN can exclusively reveal. This comes from our interview with the game's creator, Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) in celebration of Stardew Valley's 10th anniversary. When we asked him for updates on 1.7, Barone said the following: This is, quite frankly, huge! Players have been asking for more romanceable characters for years now, and the only new additions since the game's launch were Shane and Emily, added way, way back in 1.1. We don't yet know who these two mystery partners will be, though. It's possible that ConcernedApe is adding two brand new characters to the game, but it's also possible that existing characters that...
Stardew Valley is 10 years old this month: happy 10th birthday, Stardew! The beloved farming sim is still as popular as ever, with nearly 50 million copies sold and tens of thousands of players every single day. So why hasn't it ever had a TV or film adaptation? It's a fair question, right? Video game TV and film adaptations have become wildly popular in recent years, and are finally seeing widespread success with shows like The Last of Us and Fallout and films like Sonic the Hedgehog (and sequels), Detective Pikachu, A Minecraft Movie, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Stardew is widely loved and seems like it'd be easy enough to adapt, especially into some kind of series about Pelican Town and its inhabitants. So where is it...
Stardew Valley is 10 years old this month. The popular life/farming simulator made waves when it first dropped on February 26, 2016 on PC, quickly becoming beloved for its loving recreation of some of the best aspects of the old Harvest Moon games, while also determinedly following its own path with elements such as the mines, a much wider variety of crops and animals, and queer relationships. Over the last 10 years, a series of updates have kept the energy alive, adding even more farming activities, more people to marry and befriend, more dungeoning adventures, more seasonal events, and just... more. Of everything. It remains wildly popular as a result, having sold nearly 50 million copies since its initial launch and still drawing...
For Stardew Valley's 10th anniversary, we didn't just speak to creator Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) about the game's present and future. We also went out into the community to find out how Stardew Valley has changed the lives of its players, from everyday fans to popular content creators. Here, we've shared three stories – from a music farm creator, a speedrunner, and a mod maker – on how Stardew Valley impacted them. And we've interspersed those with testimonials from fans whose experiences with Stardew Valley have helped them overcome personal challenges, work through grief, and connect with loved ones. Responses have been very lightly edited for length and clarity. "Over the past 10 years [my wife and I] have played [Stardew Valley]...
Steam has quietly withdrawn under fire MMO Ashes of Creation from sale after its director and leadership team quit just weeks after launch. Ashes of Creation was funded by a hugely successful $3.2 million Kickstarter campaign back in 2017. It finally released in December as a $50 Early Access game on Steam, but by the end of January, the game's director, Steven Sharif, and "much of" the senior dev team quit "in protest," claiming that its management board had asked him to do things he "could not ethically support." According to Sharif, the Board then issued WARN Act notices — layoff warnings, in other words — to the remaining staff. It's unclear how many employees remain employed or who sits on this mysterious board. Although Sharif...
Fortnite fans are on the edge of their seats as rumors and leaks seem to suggest a potential Chappell Roan crossover coming to Fortnite in February. The Femininomenon of the pop music world has been the talk of the Fortnite community since cosmetics related to some of her most iconic songs supposedly leaked late last month. Developer Epic Games hasn’t confirmed whether Chappell Roan or her famous pink pony mascot will actually show up in-game, but fans are still expecting an announcement as soon as this week. X/Twitter user @itsmeleaky seems to have been the first to kick off rumors that the Midwest Princess was next to join Epic’s roster of Festival stars, sharing images of some very Chappell Roan-looking music cosmetics and what...
Capcom has published a live-action Resident Evil Requiem trailer that showcases our best look yet at the ruins of Raccoon City, a few weeks before players get to explore it for themselves. The live-action short features Longlegs actress Maika Monroe, who plays a mother living in Raccoon City shortly before its infamous zombie outbreak. Things sadly do not end well for her (or her daughter) in this three-minute short film that is meant to set the scene ahead of Requiem's arrival. Fans can now find the short film by scanning QR codes found on viral marketing appearing in New York's Time Square and around Hollywood. Alternatively, its YouTube link is now live and fans are sharing it around social media: The trailer features cops, dogs...
The Hillbilly is easily one of the most memorable Killers in Dead by Daylight. That makes him a perfect choice to get the spotlight in Titan Comics' latest Dead by Daylight tie-in comic. Last month, IGN debuted the trailer for Dead by Daylight: The Hillbilly #1. Now we can reveal a new preview of this issue. Check it out in the slideshow gallery below: Dead by Daylight: The Hillbilly is written by Derek Fridolfs (Stranger Things) and drawn by Dean Kotz (James Bond), with colors by Allison Hu. The first issue features cover art by Kotz, Alex Horley, Francesca Ciregia, Ilan Sheady, and Niclas Mortensen. Each issue of the series also comes with a code for exclusive DLC for the game. Here's Titan's official description of this issue...
I’m a sucker for nostalgia, so I have yet to tire of the enhanced ports, remasters, and remakes that are all the rage these days. I love revisiting games from simpler times, sporting fresh graphics and handy new features, but I also enjoy completely new takes on them I would never have expected. Dragon Quest VII already got the latter treatment on 3DS a decade ago, and now Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is ringing in the 40th anniversary of the series with a fine third iteration, though it’s not one without sacrifices. This time around, there is a clear focus on improving the pacing of one of Dragon Quest’s most notorious entries, and Square Enix has succeeded in that regard – but some of the other adjustments Reimagined makes in an effort...
Amazon is offering some excellent discounts at the moment on a select few JRPGs, which is great news for those looking to fill up their game library with something new. Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is another on sale, with its Xbox Series X version down to $20.59 with a coupon and its PS5 and Switch copies down to $34.99. As part of a "month of anniversary surprises," Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has formally introduced us to the "face of Freedom, the voice of Victory, the light of Liberty… John Helldiver." In a fascinating deep dive into the writing and casting of the iconic character, actor Craig Lee Thomas and lead writer Russ Nickel discussed developing the face and voice of the game that the fandom has dubbed, quite rightly, John Helldiver. "Casting was crazy," said Russ Nickel, Helldivers 2's lead writer between 2020 and 2022. "I did all the writing, and then the script went off sort of into the abyss, and I didn't hear anything for a while. Then I found out that it was going to shoot in a week. "They actually hadn't really done any...
Nioh 3 is slated to release on Friday, February 6, on PC via Steam and PS5, but the game's latest trailer has revealed that Xbox and maybe even Nintendo Switch 2 owners may not have too long a wait for a version of their own. According to the small print in the trailer, the PS5's console exclusivity period looks set to run for just six months. This means Nioh 3 could debut on other consoles, such as Nintendo Switch 2 or Xbox Series X and S, as early as August 6, 2026, potentially marking the first time a Nioh title will be available on any console other than Sony's PlayStation. Though none of this is confirmed, of course — and publisher Koei Tecmo may hold off on porting to other consoles for technical and other reasons — it should be...
Two actors from Silent Hill f revealed today that they have been appointed ambassadors of the real life location in Japan that inspired the survival horror game’s eerie setting. Takeshi Masago, who plays Kanta Shimizu, the father of main character Hinako, and Tamami Hiraoka, who plays her mother, posted a YouTube short cryptically entitled ‘Important Announcement’ on February 2, 2026. The video begins like a solemn apology or serious announcement, with the two actors suddenly jumping for joy at the end of the video, while holding their tourism ambassador certificates. The actors have both been made tourism ambassadors for Gero City in Japan's Gifu Prefecture. Gero City, specifically the Kanayama-cho area with its quiet, narrow...
